He knew it was frowned upon, no matter how much the CIA liked to encourage inhouse dating. He really shouldn't be flirting as openly with Annie as he was. Especially in front of their boss.
But he couldn't help it.
He liked the way she laughed and the way warmth filled her voice when they flirted.
No. He had to stop. It was just like fieldwork. Despite all of his outrageous flirting, he had quit dating seriously after he lost his sight. It was just easier that way.
His conviction lasted until he heard her pained voice on the line. She was hurt. He had to trust her assessment of the situation, but that did not mean he had to like it. It was time to get her home safe.
And when she went to say her goodbyes to Diego, he hitched a ride and followed her, intentionally disregarding Joan's previous instructions regarding him and fieldwork.
Oh, well. It wasn't fieldwork. It was checking up on a friend (and getting in a little harmless flirting that he had missed).
