Hey, I know it's been ages but life got in the way of writing this. Exams, holidays and all that. This chapter isn't finished yet because I only have just gotten the time to start writing again. I wanted to give you what I had just so you know I haven't forgotten about this. I'll have finished this chapter for Friday evening though.

Will wrung his fingers together as he waited for the judge to arrive. The Grants' son was being convicted for murder and his case was about to start. Will wasn't as prepared as he would have liked, given that he had only gotten the case a few months ago. Alicia had been taking it before. She was the one who had prepared most of the case.

For several nights, Will had poured over Alicia's notes. His fingers traced every word remembering the day he had seen Alicia writing those notes. It was late one night in the office a week after the slip they had when they were on opposing teams. When Will remembered the kiss, he couldn't help but relive it. Everything had gotten too heated for the pair and during an argument about the case, they kissed fiercely. That had been their first slip-up since the affair ended the year before. Then, the next few slip ups had followed soon after.

The next week, Will had watched Alicia through her office window, following her pen with his eyes as she wrote in lyrical cursive handwriting across the page. Alicia looked into the distance for a moment and then her eyes moved and she had seen him. She gave him a small smile before continuing to write out her notes. That had been their last office nighttime moment before Alicia betrayed him. They would never have another one.

"All rise for Honourable Judge Sanders," the police officer stationed in court said. He said it casually, almost like he hadn't been paying attention a few minutes prior. Will's eyes scanned him with mild interest as he stood up. The judge asked for Will's opening statement and he began.

The trial hadn't gone as well as Will had hoped. The evidence was starting to pile up against the young Grant. His youthful face held a waxy sheen throughout most of the first day. Though Alicia's notes had been helpful, it didn't stop the impressive case presented by the plaintiff. The next day, Will was in court again. This time, his thoughts were solely focused on the case. He was explaining his argument to the jury when the door behind him swung open. Will turned around briefly. Alicia's eyes met his and her lips curling into a faint smile. From the distance, Will could not tell if the smile was derisive or genuine. His words halted for a few seconds until he turned back around and continued to explain. He wondered if Alicia knew the effect her presence had on him. The entire time, his thoughts were on her.

When the judge called for a recess, Will slipped out of his seat and through the door to find Alicia there texting on her phone.
