I do not own.

Reselda watched apprehensively as VanKlaus approached Roy. Roy screamed in pain as VanKlaus plunged his hand into his chest. Slowly a shining orb emerged.

"Haha! Now I have all the power!" VanKlaus declared triumphantly. He grinned evilly as he absorbed the orb. "Well, princess, shall we take care of a little problem called life?" He sneered as he aimed his glowing hand at her.

Senarius struggled to push himself up. He wondered how his master could remain so calm. "You piece of worm dung! You can't handle real soldiers that you need to fight a woman?" He desperately tried to get the megalomaniac's attention away from Reselda.

But VanKlaus was not deterred. "Patience. Your turn will be next." As the light from his hand grew, he laughed. But instead of a destructive ray killing the princess, an explosion blew VanKlaus back. When the smoke cleared, VanKlaus was on the ground. His grafted arm was gone. In its place was a stump dripping blood. The orbs he had absorbed were on the ground scattered. One was still glowing.

"Ah, I thought so." The master pushed himself up. Reselda and Senarius also felt the pressure on their bodies release.

"What… what happened?" Reselda asked in surprise.

"Roy's orb was the contracted to him. He alone controls it. So even if VanKlaus takes it, it will not listen to him." The master said with some satisfaction.

"You knew this?" Senarius asked his master.

"I couldn't be sure." He shrugged. "But when I saw how Roy's power was evolving I had a feeling it had bonded with the boy."

"Did anyone get the name of that runaway horse?" Roy muttered as he finally regained consciousness. Conrad immediately went to his side and picked him up. The shadows had dissipated after the explosion. VanKlaus' troops also lay defeated on the ground.

"Roy, are you well?" Conrad asked concerned.

"There's a million knives stabbing my head right now but other than that, I feel great." He answered sarcastically.

The glowing orb rose from the ground.

"No!" VanKlaus despite his injury tried to grab it but was repelled by an invisible force. He fell back on the ground with a menacing glare.

The other orbs as if responding to the first one also one by one rose from the ground shining their own lights. They swirled around each other before in one quick motion rushed at Roy. Conrad let go as every orb streamed into his brother's body. The impact made Roy stagger back, but he didn't fall. His whole body glowed as his wounds healed. Startled Roy stared at his glowing body.

"Ah, the orbs have chosen their new owner." The master said with satisfaction.

"Wait? Me?" Roy gaped at the wizard.

"Yes, you are the new wielder of the spirit orb."

To Roy's surprise, the wizards all kneeled in front of him.

"Uh, what are you doing?" He asked nervously.

"The one who wields the spirit orb is the most powerful mage in the world… you are no less a god." Duo said reluctantly.

"Really?" Roy asked confused. "I don't want to be a god. Conrad was the one who wanted to be a sorcerer." He looked anxiously at his brother.

His brother smiled at him. "I'm fine with you having powers. Now we can both learn how to use magic."

"I guess this beats watching sheep." Roy agreed.

"What are we going to do about him?" Quinque asked pointing a thumb at VanKlaus who sat sulking on the floor.

"We are going to execute him." Senarius drew his sword and approached him. VanKlaus merely glowered at him. As Senarius was about to lop off his head, a dark swirl appeared beneath VanKlaus. Smirking, he disappeared into the black void. More black voids appeared under the lizard and wolf soldiers. They too disappeared.

The group nervously looked around, readying themselves for an attack but when none came they relaxed a little. The blast of a horn startled them.

"That's the signal for victory!" Reselda gasped. "Father won!"

"Then truly today is an auspicious day." The master smiled.

Senarius walked over to Reselda. Picking up her hand he gently kissed it. "Shall we return to your kingdom, your highness."

She smiled at him. "I think it's time to go home."

The party tiredly but happily made their way back to the castle in the distance with the sounds of the victory ringing in the air.

I literally wrote this in an hour. I wanted to update since I load something up here every year on this day. Anyway, one chapter left to go. An epilogue. Have a great day.
