((A/N: Hey. So what I was maybe thinking about doing with Penny is just to have it be a kinda learning experience for the mc, show him that being a robot with integrated creature comforts may be better than being weak ass flesh. That and having it be a body invasion kinda deal, maybe have some hijinks.))
((Not gonna mess with canon
too much.))
Blue…
That's all I can see.
Just… blue.
An ethereal type of blue, too, one not quite like the standard pigments. Something more akin to a thought; an experience of blue and coolness.
'Weird… I thought I couldn't feel temperature.'
Almost as if that triggered something, the cool feeling turns into a deep cold, the blue slowly receding from my vision.
'What? What's going on?' I feel a slight panic at the sudden shift in tone, harsher and more punishing, like it's displeased with something.
Then, just as the cold reaches down to my very bones, it stops. My vision fades in, letting me see a… kind of confusing vista.
'What…' I glance around at the shattered landscape before me. Chunks and bits of concrete and twisted rebar float around me, floating destroyed and crumbling, as if a meteor had crashed into a sheet of concrete.
I look around in awe and curiosity, the chunk I'm standing on barely big enough to support me. 'What is this place…?'
The very… realm, I guess, seems to be evenly lit, a soft blue light bathing everything, making it feel vaguely underwater themed.
'Is… am I dreaming?' I look down at my hands. They're human, though gray and low-poly like, vaguely reminding me of a Cerberus from Ultrakill. I clench and unclench them slowly. My movements are nowhere near as sluggish as before.
'Or… am I meditating? Is this a mental palace or something?' I take a deep breath, feeling absolutely wonderful in the way my chest slowly fills and empties itself of air. 'That… that felt nice.' I smile a little, looking at the land before me.
Though that quickly fades once I note the state it's all in. 'Why is it broken?' Glancing around the whole of this blue place doesn't get me any more information besides "It's all broken", so I wander a bit on the little chunk, looking over the edge downwards, into a seemingly infinite fall into the blue abyss.
I can't help but shudder a bit, even though this is just my own mind. 'That's concerning. I should probably move into a bigger chunk.' I lift my sight up again, spotting a slightly bigger piece of concrete, rebar sticking out. I take a test hop where I stand, noting that gravity is very, very low. So low it almost took me a whole four seconds to fall back down.
'Okay, that's useful. I just wonder if it's gonna be enough to get me over there.' Gauging the distance between me and the new piece of concrete is somewhat hard. I've always been crap at that, but I think I'll be able to do it. 'Well, here goes nothing.'
With a few steps back to give myself a bit of a run-up, I take a deep breath, still loving the ability to just breathe normally, I start running.
And with a mighty jump, I find myself flying a little too high for my liking. 'Shit! Stop, stop, I'm going over!' I can't help but flail a little, almost like I were trying to swim through the air.
And then, as if a switch had been flipped, gravity suddenly strengthens, forcing me into a heavy free-fall onto the concrete below. 'WHAAGH! CUNT!' Though my fall is harsh and sudden, my landing definitely isn't. I land softly, the concrete denting slightly when I come crashing into it. My breathing is heavy and hurried, adrenaline embarrassingly present in my system.
'... fucking...' I take a deep, shuddering breath, and let it go. '... okay. So I have some control over this place.' I sit up, finding my hand digging deep into the concrete, almost without effort. 'And the concrete is soft. Of course it is.' I tear out a chunk of the concrete, finding it more reminiscent of a dry cake than anything. Though it looks totally unappealing. 'It looks like cake... cakecrete. Heh.'
I place it back in its spot, standing with a sigh. 'If this is my mental palace, it is shit.'
With a scratch of my head, I sit on the edge of the little cakecrete island. 'Maybe I can change it?' I tap my chin slightly, wondering exactly how I could do it. On a whim, I raise my hand, pointing at a small island. 'Move.' I order out loud, the big hunk of fake stone flying through the blue void.
'Okay, cool. I wonder if I can fix this place up? I mean, it'd definitely make me feel better about having it in the first place...' No one wants a broken palace, after all.
I mash the cakecrete island I'd been moving against another, seeing how they meld together into one cohesive thing. 'Ooh, they just automatically meld together! Nice!' I move another chunk onto the little growing pile, aiming to fix up the whole cakecrete sheet. 'This'll make a nice little project. Make a home up in here...' I move another island to the growing clump, melding it together again. 'Gotta have a base to work with first, though.'
I feel a sense of comfort in here. A sense of belonging, even. I can see myself spending a long time in here…
'Hey, I might even recreate a few Minecraft builds in here. It's my mind, after all!' I chuckle slightly, speeding up my cakecrete mixing. 'This is fun. I need something to keep myself occupied, after all.'
((A/N: I'm probably gonna ramp up the game references from here on out. Especially on extra chapters. I'm gonna use them to be an idiot. And maybe do on the side characterization, maybe add in little sideplots with characters other than Paul. Length will vary a lot))
((Oh yeah and sorry about not posting in a sec, I've been busy.))
