Terence and Trevor are good friends. They don't work together very often, but when they do, it always makes them smile.

Winter had come to the Island of Sodor and there had been a big snowstorm. Trevor was in his shed at the Vicarage Orchard. He was ready to get to work when Jem Cole and the Vicar arrived.

"I'm afraid the snow is too deep, Trevor," said the Vicar. "You won't be able to come out today."

Trevor was disappointed. He knew he would get stuck in the fields if his wheels sank in the snow, but he was worried about his friends. "What about the farm animals, the supplies that needs delivering and the wood that needs cutting?"

"Don't worry," said Jem. The farmers can bring their wood to us, but some of the roads are blocked too. You could get stuck. Terence has been asked to clear them, and the Sodor Construction Company is helping too."

Trevor was happy his friends could help, but he was still sad. There is only so much a traction engine can do, he thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Terence and the others were helping to clear the roads. It was hard work, but Terence made easy going with his caterpillar treads. Elizabeth and Isobella were helping to deliver supplies to the farms and Kelly helped to lift away the fallen trees.

Back at the Orchard, Trevor was soon busy sawing wood. Nelson had brought the logs on his low-loader. Trevor was grateful. "Thank you for helping me," he said, "but I wish I could do more to help you."

"I think you're helping plenty just by sawing this wood," grinned Nelson. "Those farmhouses must be kept warm you know. Don't worry about us. We've handled snow jobs much bigger than this."

Later that day, Terence and Jack were helping to clear snow from a farm road near a steep hill. "Bouncing buckets," gasped Jack. "I've never seen so much snow."

"It can be tricky stuff sometimes," agreed Terence.

Then there was trouble.

Terence was moving a snow pile next to the hill, but as he did, the snow on top began to slide. "LOOK OUT!" cried Jack, but it was too late.

Terence's Driver jumped clear, but Terence was soon buried. "Oh, no!" gasped Terence. "I'm stuck!"

Terence's Driver and Jack's Banksman dug some of the snow away and tied a strong rope to Jack. Jack pulled as hard as he could, but his wheels kept slipping. "What will we do now?" he sighed.

Then, Terence had an idea. "Jack, the Vicarage Orchard is at the bottom of the hill. Trevor is still there."

Jack understood. "I'll hurry and fetch him."

When Jack got to the Orchard shed, he told Trevor, Jem Cole and the Vicar what had happened. "But what about the snow? I'll get stuck too," said Trevor.

"Most of the road on the hill has been cleared," explained Jack. "Come on, Trever. You're the closest one who can help."

The hill's road was slippery, but Trevor was determined, and they soon reached the top. "Don't worry Terence," he called. "We're going to get you out."

Another rope was attached from Terence to Trevor. Trevor puffed, Jack chugged and slowly, Terence began to move. It took a long time, but at last, Terence was free.

"Oh, thank you, Trevor," he smiled.

Later, Nelson and Miss Jenny came to collect the firewood. Jack and Terence told them what had happened. "Thank you again, Trevor," said Terence. "You are always there to help."

Trevor smiled. "That's what good friends are for."

"It looks like you were able to help after the snowstorm after all," added the Vicar.

Trevor smiled, he was pleased to have been helpful that day, but he was even prouder that he had been able to help a friend.
