Chapter Three - Heroic Interrogation

Anne really should've seen this coming.

With the craziness of the fight with Cloak-Bot and the panic of Anne passing out after using her mysterious powers, it was easy to forget that they were still in pretty big trouble.

As it turns out, indirectly destroying a ramen restaurant and then running away is not a good look, especially if you run away from law enforcement without giving an explanation or paying for damages.

So the Thai-American really shouldn't have been surprised when a pro hero came to her and the Plantar's temporary residence asking to speak with them, However, it was still a surprise nonetheless, one that was not appreciated by a certain pollywog. "We're not telling you diddly-squat, Sleepo!" Polly shouted at the tired-looking man, thankfully the others realized they didn't have much choice, trying to fight or run away again would get them in even more trouble, not like they had anywhere to flee to or could fight against the man as they were still recovering from the fight with Cloak-Bot, So they decided to follow the man to the nearest police station to the temperamental pollywog's disapproval.

Anne and the Plantars sat in an interrogation room with 3 people, the man that escorted them, a man in a detective uniform, weirdest of all some kind of strange dog-mouse-bear thing with a scar over its right eye wearing a suit.

"I believe you know why you've been brought here?" Said the detective in a kind yet knowing tone.

"I'm not entirely sure, but I have a pretty good idea." Anne snarked back

However this didn't seem to annoy the detective, he just chuckled "I can understand your reluctance, but you don't have to worry we don't want to harm you we just want to talk." Anne looked around unsure, noticing that the man gave her a kind smile "How about I tell you our names and you tell us yours that way we're all on the same page." Anne thinks for a minute before silently nodding, to which the detective smiles.

"Great, well I'm Naomasa Tsukauchi, as you can probably guess I'm a detective for the police." Tsukauchi turns and signals to the perpetually tired-looking man "The man who escorted you here is Shota Aizawa or the pro hero: Eraser Head." Aizawa just nods "And this," he points to animal man "is Nezu, the principal of the most popular hero school in Japan, U.A. High." Nezu waves and gives a simple yet friendly "Hello!'' In response, Naomasa then turns to Anne and gives her a quick nod to signal her to speak.

Anne sighs and skeptically says "I'm Anne Boonchuy," she points to her adoptive family "and these are the Plantars, Sprig," "Hey!" Sprig waves "Polly," "Sup." Polly nods "And Hopediah or Hop Pop for short." "Hello there." Hop Pop also waves.

Tsukauchi smiles "Well Anne, for a few days we've been getting reports and sightings of a foreign girl with curly hair and one shoe and three frog-like people, mostly reports from people worried about the state they were in, you four fit said description." Anne nervously nodded."Well, today people with that description were also said to have destroyed a table and some bowls at a local ramen restaurant and ran without paying for damages." Anne gulped "They were also said to be running from pro heroes." Tsukauchi pulls out a piece of paper with a list on it.

"So that would be destruction of property, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest. These are some pretty serious charges." Anne sighed, she had decided she'd take the blame for the Plantars and make sure they were taken care of, she started to open her mouth. "But that isn't the main reason you're here," Tsukauchi explained.

"Huh?" Anne questioned, that didn't make any sense what other reason could they have?

"If that were the only reason, then these two wouldn't be here." The detective pointed to himself, the principal, and the pro hero. "You'd just be talking to me, no the reason we are here is because of this." The man pulled up something on a laptop and turned it so Anne and the Plantars could see what seemed to be some kind of video.

"Guys, how about we show this tin can what we got." "Yeah!" oh no "Don't you…mess with…her." Oh no "Leave him alone!" Oh No. Right there on the screen was Anne and the Plantar's earlier fight with Cloak-Bot

Tsukaguchi spoke, "Now we won't be charging you with illegal quirk usage as you used it in self-defense, however, we do have some questions."

Anne was very nervous, they might've had the chance to come up with some lie but now they had actual footage of not only her powers but also Cloak-Bot, there was nothing they could do to get out of this situation. She turned to the Plantars who looked back at her assuringly, Hop Pop said "Anne, I know you're scared but maybe it's time we asked for some help, I mean we're barely getting by the way things are going we won't be able to do this alone. Sprig and Polly nodded in agreement. Anne thought for a moment and then replied "You guys are right, if we keep doing what we are now we're not gonna make any progress." She then turned to the three men who looked back with keen interest, she sighed, and then began.

"So you see…"

"...and that's about everything," Anne concluded and turned to the three men nervously

There was a momentary silence, as everyone just tried to take in the information the girl had just shared, Tsukauchi's face was one of shock and confusion, and Aizawa was looking down to the floor grumbling fingers pinching his forehead, meanwhile, Nezu looked curious but mostly unfazed.

"So you're saying that you're from a world without quirks and you and your friends got teleported by a music box with magic gems to a world of talking amphibians ruled by a giant salamander for months before recharging said gems and reuniting with your friends, only to be betrayed by the king who turned out to be a thousand-year-old tyrant who wanted the power of the box to travel and conquer other worlds and after a battle ended up teleported here and while eating noodles you were attacked by a robot sent from the king to capture you," Tsukauchi paused before then continuing "and the quirk you showed comes from the connection you have with one of these stones however you cannot control it, did I catch everything?"

Anne scratched her head and said, "That's everything important anyway."

Tsukauchi leaned back and scratched his head. "This is a lot to take in, I mean other worlds, talking frogs, and interdimensional tyrants."

Anne was surprised, she expected them to think she was lying or at least not believe them immediately "You believe me?"

Tsukauchi nodded then explained, "I didn't tell you this earlier for obvious reasons, but my quirk is called Lie Detector, it allows me to tell when someone is lying or giving half-truths, not only that but the way you talked about things was very genuine so unless you're an inhumanly good actor then you're telling the truth." He then gave her a kind smirk and stood up "If you will excuse us," he motioned to Nezu and Aizawa "we will be discussing this information in private, stay here we'll be back in a bit." They then walked out of the room, Sprig looked at his family and said "Let's hope things go well."

"This is Ridiculous."

Aizawa wasn't one to believe in the supernatural, so when he was called to deal with a foreign girl and a family of frog-like creatures he'd just assumed they were just homeless people who got in a pickle while trying to provide for themselves, what he didn't expect was them being beings from another dimension who got stranded after running from A tyrannical giant salamander

Tsukauchi looked at the tired pro "I can assure you that girl was not lying."

Aizawa sighed "It's not that I don't believe that I trust you, there's just a lot to think about here, like how this Andrias has an entire army and the power of the music box even with all of Japan's Pro Heroes we might be outmatched and for all, we know he could invade at any moment and we would be unprepared." Nezu and Tsukauchi nodded in agreement "What do we do with Anne? She's useful, but not only is she just a teenager, she also can't control her powers, we can't rely on her." The men stood still, lost in thought.

"I think I have an idea," Nezu stated

It had been a while since the men had stepped out and Anne was getting worried, what could be taking them so long? How much were they in?

Before Anne had any time to question their current situation the interrogation door opened and the three men had returned.

"Sorry for the wait, but after a lengthy conversation, Nezu made an idea and we have collectively made a decision ." Tsukauchi informed before turning to Nezu, the bear-mouse thing nodded and spoke "In terms of the Ramen incident, we will pay for the damages in your stead and you won't be charged with any crimes so you won't have to worry about that," Anne and the Plantars blew a sigh of relief "It has been decided that you four will be staying with Aizawa for the time being." "Boo!" Polly complained in response. Anne however was surprised "Wait really?" Nezu nodded "Yes, you four will be living with him so we can keep tabs on you and make sure you stay out of trouble." Nezu then paused so they could process this information before continuing "Ms Boonchuy will be enrolled in U.A. under special recommendation. "What why!?" Anne shouted, "We decided it would be not only the best way to keep you safe but to also help you learn to control your powers." Anne thought about it before grumbling out "Yeah I guess that makes sense" Nezu continued "We have devised a cover story, Anne is a foreign exchange student who was brought over because of your powerful quirk, the Plantars will be your adoptive family after your birth parents were killed in villain attack, they came with you to make sure you were ok." Anne flinched just the thought of her parents dying in an attack made her feel sick "Finally we will help you four attempt to get back to Amphibia and if it comes to it help fight Andrias." Nezu finished and questioned, "Are you ok with this idea?" Before Anne and the other Plantars could reply Sprig interrupted "Hey if Anne has to go I'm going too!" Everyone was surprised however Sprig continued "Anne is my best friend and I can't just let her go through this alone, I want to be there for her so she can have someone she knows with her and because we stick together no matter what." Sprig finished his voice resolute "Sprig…" Anne spoke touched that he cared so much. Nezu thought for a minute and smiled "I can see how much you two mean to each other and there's a lot of potential in your skills, very well you shall both be enrolled in U.A." Anne smirked as she say Sprig positively beaming at the news "Thanks, man." Sprig looked at Anne and smiled "Spranne against the world?" Anne smiled in return "Spranne against the world." She replied.

Anne then turned to Nezu and stated "I think we can agree to this.

Anne and the Plantars stepped inside

They were greeted by a very simple house nothing more than was needed a living room with a couch and a few chairs, a tv, the kitchen had some dirty dishes, there appeared to be other rooms most interestingly a black cat was sitting in the couch when they noticed them they moved over and nuzzled up to Aizawa who gave the feline a gentle scratch "This place is nice." Aizawa turned to Anne and the Plantars "I'd hope so, now I'm doing a lot allowing you four to stay here so there will be rules, you will not be able to leave without my permission and you will let me know when and where you go, you three will make sure not to destroy any of my property, you will not bother me while I am working, and you will take care of Akari," he pointed to the cat "when I'm gone, and you will pull your weight around the house if you cause any problems there will be consequences and I'm not a very forgiving person, do I make myself clear?" Aizawa said with intensity, Anne and the Plantars nodded in response. "Good, I'm going to be heading out for patrol, you all such go get some sleep, especially you Anne early tomorrow we're gonna train your powers there's the attic, guest room, and the couch if you need to eat look in the fridge." Aizawa then turned and walked out of the house. Anne and the Plantars spent a little time looking around and had a small dinner before they all settled down for the night, Hop Pop slept on the Couch, Sprig and Polly shared the attic, and Anne lay in the guest room staring off thinking her current situation, a lot happened today they'd been chased by and fought a killer robot, ran from the law, met a weird Mouse-bear-dog, were now staying with some insomniac ninja, and she and Sprig were now set to attend a school for superheroes, Anne wasn't quite sure what was in store for her and the Plantars but she was sure this was just the beginning.
