The trip to biology was strange; I knew this was weird and different behavior for Jasper Cullen, but I also knew that him walking me to class would be drawing a lot of gossiping and jealously, nasty behaviors. And yet, as we touched, I felt my body come alive. Every inch of me was electric; it was fiery, all consuming.

As I glanced up at him, I didn't notice anything on his face that showed he felt the same.

I pursed my lips as I thought. It was almost like a mate bond – not that I knew anything about it – but by the way he was so interested in me and happy around me (not blood thirsty, too) as well as the electricity explained we had some kind of bond between us. Chemistry that is not is not unsupernatural.

I was a little surprised at this point to a random box appearing before me, but I am starting to get used to it. I looked up again at him shyly, eyes peering under my lashes, he caught me gaze and a small smile lit his face at me.

Definitely weird. That +2 intelligence had to mean I was onto something.

I wondered what would happen when he left or when we let go of each other. Am I the only one affected, or would he – is he affected, too?

Curiously, I quickly unclasped my fingers from around his arm and immediately the electricity fades away. He turns to me just as quick. "Everything all right, darlin'?" He asked with his southern drawl.

"No, everything's fine." I said quickly and grabbed his arm again. He led me again back to biology.

Interesting.

We made it to my new class and he handed over my backpack. "Have a good class, ma'am." He drawled.

"You, too, good sir." I shot back at him.

He gave me one last smile before hurrying himself over to his next class.

I walked up to the front and handed the slip to the teacher, not paying attention to them. I shoved it in their hands and said, "I'll pick it up after class," and headed back to an open seat.

"Uh, miss Swan?" the teacher waved the slip in the air, trying to get my attention. I glanced back at him, raising an eyebrow. "You need to introduce yourself to the class."

I took a deep breath, and with the courage I'd gained throughout the day, I firmly told the teacher no thank you. "I'm sorry, but I'm just very introverted. Besides, I'm sure everyone knows me by now. This is such a small town and small school. Pretty sure I've met everyone, and if not, they've heard of me by now. I'd rather not."

I met the teacher's eyes and he seemed a little unhappy with me, but didn't disagree with the logic, nor wanted to force me to introduce myself. Which was good, because I didn't really know much about myself as a Swan yet.

"You can sit in the open spot over in the back corner." He waved over in the direction and I followed his gesture, sitting down in the open spot.

"Hey," a girl hissed nearby. I turned to look at who appeared to be Jessica. Hello, waste of space, I thought with a snicker.

"Hola, buenas dias?" I said in a slight accent. She frowned at me.

"I'm sorry, I don't speak very much Spanish. Don't you speak English?" She asked in a frustrated tone.

"Gomenasai?" I replied.

She huffed in frustration. "Seriously, I heard Veronica speaking English to you, don't you understand?"

"Essayez de parler plus fort, cela fonctionnera peut-être."

I could see her face turning red from anger.

"Mi dispiace, è solo che non capisco la stronza."

A kid a few tables away started to laugh under his breath, his shoulders shaking as he tried to keep quiet. Jessica's face was bright red from anger before she huffed one last time and turned back to her work. I turned to my table mate, who I just now realized was Alice Cullen. I did a double take when I saw her next to me, but thought, yeah, that checks out.

She had a bright smile pulling at her lips as she gazed at me. I could almost feel the electric excitement that she seemed to run on. I turned to look at her again, triple checking, and could see her nearly vibrating in her chair with excitement.

Definitely checks out.

I took a deep breath before I turned to Alice and said quietly enough no one else would be able to hear, "Hello, I'm Mia, and I do speak English, but please don't tell waste-of-space that."

Alice's light tinkling of laughter was infectious and I could feel my shoulders shaking as I withheld my own laughter.

"Your secret is safe with me, Mia," She said just as quietly.

Jessica threw us a suspicious look, but turned back to the teacher as he began to speak. I sighed, deciding I needed to focus on this class, not that I needed it, but because hopefully it would help me gain points. As the hour-class droned on, I got multiple updates on my abilities.

I listened closely until the end of the class and began to gather my things, glad we didn't have to do any practical work. I was getting really tired of this day and wanted to go home and think about all I learned.

I stood and began to wander towards the hallway when an arm looped through mine; the arm freezing cold and hard as stone. I jumped in surprise, but turned towards Alice and lifted an eyebrow at her in question.

She sent back a radiant smile in response, not using words to explain what she was doing. I sighed, realizing that Alice is probably the most headstrong person in this universe – except for Edward, but I didn't want to go there right now. That boy would be lucky if he didn't get a punch to the face by the end of the day.

While I wasn't ever really a fan of Bella as a person – her life decisions questionable – I didn't take abusive partners well. If Edward would treat Bella like crap by the end of the day – and he would – he'd regret it. Even if I had to grab a baseball bat to hit him with it. He'd learn. Bella, despite her dreary personality, didn't deserve the crap Edward put her through. Alice grabbed the slip from the teacher as we left, handing it to me as we walked.

"So, where to?" I asked Alice.

She shrugged back at me, a secretive smile on her lips. "I don't know your schedule, Mia,"

Yeah, right. I thought, but let it go.

I pulled out my crumpled class schedule from my pocket with one hand, my one arm still held captive by Alice. I sighed as I saw the class: English. Ugh.

Alice began to laugh again, and I tilted my head to the side at the sound, listening closely. She shook her head. "I hope you like Hamlet," She said through laughter.

I rolled my eyes. "Uh, no. Shakespeare is old, he made up words and the stories don't apply at all. Besides, Romeo and Juliet is shit." Alice's laugh began to get louder at my words and before I knew it, I heard a booming laugh somewhere down the hallway. I tried to turn at the sound thinking that may actually be Emmett, but Alice kept me in place as we walked.

"Let me show you where to go." She said, pulling me along.

I let her drag me to class unhappily. I was sure she was aware that I'd probably actually skip class if she let go. While I had never skipped class in my past life, I did not want to go through Shakespeare again. She brought me to the class room and walked me in.

Veronica immediately shot up from her slumped position in her seat at the sight of me. I pulled myself rom Alice's strong grip. "Thanks, Alice!" I called over my shoulder. I looked around and saw that the teacher hadn't come to class yet. Veronica headed towards me at the front of the class room. Alice waved goodbye as she left, but snuck glances over her shoulder as she walked.

Veronica came close and we bent our heads together. She groaned under her breath muttering the cursed book we had to read.

"Um," I started hesitantly. "Do you remember when you suggested good places teachers won't look for skipping students?" I asked.

She brightened immediately. "Of course! This is so exciting. Skipping on your first day!" She jumped in place before shoving me out the door without another word.

I didn't fight her, but waved my slip at her. "I'll just not have one teacher's signature on my list. Probably not a big deal."

She dropped her hands from pushing my shoulders and yanked the slip from my fingers. "Nuh, uh." She said brightly. "I'll forge the teacher's signature for you. Normally I charge for that, but you're my new bestie, so this one's free."

I snorted with laughter as we walked. She sucked in a big breath as I saw long legs and a pair of brown shoes start to turn the corner. She immediately shoved me into the bathroom right next to us and put a hand over my mouth.

I let her do it, more curious than anything else. She mouthed at me the teacher's name and I nodded slightly under her hand. Ah. We're hiding from our teacher.

The footsteps headed down the hallway and Veronica peeked out the bathroom once before yanking me out and hurrying down the hallway.

"The first place he'll look is the bathroom." She informed me quietly. We snuck down the hallways before she pulled me into the band room. "No one comes in here during this class period. If anyone looks in here, we can quickly hide in the office back there." She pointed behind me and I turned to look.

I shrugged with a nod before sitting down cross legged on the floor. She did the same, pulling my slip in front of me and pulling out a red pen. I opened my mouth to ask, but she answered without looking up. "He uses red pens, never forge something of his with a blue or black pen. Heaven forbid a pink pen. Lauren tried that once. She got caught immediately." She rolled her eyes at the audacity.

I could agree; most teachers didn't use pink pens.

I watched as she carefully forged the teacher's signature. After a minute, she was finished and we sat and talked, getting to know each other better. My charisma went up two as we talked.

When the bell rung, she pulled me up with her and chatted animatedly about lunch.

Sorry about the late chapter.

The scene with Jessica had 4 different languages, apologies for the translations - I know some Spanish and Japanese. French and Italian I know very, very little.

First: Spanish: "Hello, good day."

Second: Japanese: "Sorry."

Third: French: "Try speaking louder, that might help."

Fourth: Italian: "Sorry, I don't speak bitch."
