Story Arc: Welcome to Boston

Episode 1: Star Comes to Earth (II)

Chapter 1: Lumity's Magic Shop

Plot: Star Butterfly receives the news that she is about to move to Earth, precisely to Boston.

Princess Adventurer is overwhelmed by the sight of the night city and the strange wonders of the Earth.

After hearing some boring information, Star's carriage stops in front of a nice building, with a sign above it that reads: Lumity's Magic Shop.

Star Butterfly is about to meet her first master, Luz Noceda, The Good Witch of Boiling Isles.

POV Narrator

Star Butterfly didn't sleep very well last night.

Star woke up early and dressed in yesterday's dress. Before long, Princess Adventurer was ready to face the day.

Oddly enough, the girl lacks her everyday positive and energetic aura.

The cause of this moodiness is easy to guess.

The princess is aware that she made several mistakes yesterday, the biggest of all being the huge flaming rainbow which caused a great deal of damage to public property.

How no one was seriously hurt or worse is one of the great mysteries of the universe.

(In reality, the people had prepared months in advance to face the impending disaster that would create their princess.)

Star had woken up early, preparing to feel the punishment for her reckless behavior.

The Princess Adventurer having always been a girl who loves fun and danger.

No one is surprised to find that Star has received a great deal of punishment over the years.

The problem that makes Star uneasy is the fact that the punishment equals the harm he has done.

If Star doesn't go to etiquette class, she ends up deprived of her sweets for a few days.

If Star spoils an event of the nobility such as a ball or a ceremony, no longer leave the royal castle for a week.

For almost setting a city on fire, Star can't think of what kind of punishment she could receive.

'I accept any punishment, except sending me to St. Olga's reformatory for rebellious princesses.' Stan thinks, feeling great fear at being sent to that awful place.

Princess Adventurer has heard many stories of how princesses are brainwashed into becoming obedient dolls.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the princess adventurer's door.

"You may enter, I am a presentable princess." Star said, granting the castle servants permission to enter her personal room.

Once the Princess granted permission, the head butler and a handful of maids entered her room.

" Why did you come here ?" Star asks, sure her mother has forbidden the servants to clean her room.

Queen Moon in her many attempts to instill some responsibility in Star.

Queen Moon has decided to give her daughter the task of cleaning her own room without anyone's help.

"The Queen has sent us to pack your bags, you are leaving Mewni in a few hours." The butler said, in a calm tone, delivering the news of the journey to the Princess Adventurer.

The chambers went about their work, opening the wardrobe and drawers, collecting the goods needed for the journey.

Star's face turned white, as if she saw a ghost or other horrible creature.

Did my parents tell you where I should go?" Star asks, crossing her fingers in hopes that it's a diplomatic trip.

"If you want to hear the details, the Queen, the King and an illustrious guest await you at the gates." The butler answers, before going to help the maids pack up Star's things.

Princess Adventurer's mind has imagined that her nightmare is about to come true, her parents have reached their limit and decided to send her to reform school for wayward princesses of St. Olga.

'I must beg their forgiveness or run away from home and hide in the forest!' Star thinks, running out of her room, having in mind two methods to avoid being sent to the worst place in the universe.

XXX

Once the Princess Adventurer arrived in front of the gate of the royal palace, she didn't hesitate for a second to start begging her parents' forgiveness.

Star is so focused on the parents that she hasn't noticed Zelretch's presence.

"Mom, Dad, I know what I did yesterday was bad, but please don't send me away!" Star declares, falling to her knees, regretting the idea of creating a flaming rainbow.

"I promise to be as good a princess as you've always wanted!

I'll repair the damage I've done!

I will apologize to every person in the city!

Please !

Don't send me to the reformatory for rebel princesses of Saint Olga!" Star doesn't know what to say or do to make up for yesterday's events.

The Queen and King of Mewni waited for Star to finish her skit, while Zelretch just watched events unfold.

"Star, stop worrying. I won't send you to Sant'Olga." Queen Moon said, patting her daughter's head to calm her down.

" Thank goodness !" She declares Star, throwing her arms in the air, returning to her energetic and happy demeanor.

Queen Moon internally appreciates that her daughter is smiling again, but she must make her understand that she is in a difficult situation and cannot take it lightly.

"Star, this is your last chance, if this trip proposed by Lord Zelretch doesn't work out, there's a good chance St. Olga becomes a viable option." Queen Moon said, in an apathetic tone, avoiding looking her daughter in her eyes.

'Mother is serious, another mistake, and I'm a dead girl!' Star thinks, feeling like she has a noose around her neck.

"Moon, darling, don't scare our daughter." King River said, in a cheerful tone, having no problem adding a little levity to the atmosphere.

"If I don't go to Sant'Olga, where do you want to send me?" asks Star, curious about her destination on this sudden journey.

The Kingdom of Mewni has a large number of allies and acquaintances who can accommodate the Princess Adventurer, some places are very nice, some are slightly better than St. Olga.

"We send you to train in a safer dimension; a place called Earth." Responds King River, recounting the grand plan that will do good to his daughter (and the rest of the kingdom).

Zelretch must hold back a mischievous smile and a short laugh when King River referred to Earth as a safe dimension.

"Earth ?" Star said, tilting her head slightly and slowly saying the name of her destination.

The Princess Adventurer has never been much of a scholar, but she too has a general understanding of geography.

The only way to know where to find funny places or monsters to defeat is to know how to read a map.

" I've never heard of this place." Star confesses, without thinking twice.

Unlike some prouder people, Star has no problem admitting he doesn't know something.

"Not surprisingly, Mewni and Earth are on opposite sides of the universe and have never officially interacted with each other." Zelretch said, joining the discussion.

The Wizard Marshal steps forward, gaining the attention of the Princess Adventurer who previously ignored his presence.

"You, you're grandma's old friend, with the funny name, who gives me nice presents for my birthday." Star said, recognizing Zelretch as a family friend.

"Star, it's not polite to insult people's names." Queen Moon said, scolding her daughter for her inelegant behavior.

" I'm not angry, people much older than Star called me worse." Zelretch said, complementary unaffected by the Princess Adventurer's words.

" As pleasant as this conversation is, we have a schedule to meet." said Queen Moon, not wanting to waste all morning, in front of the castle gates.

"As you wish, Moon." Zelretch said, pulling out of his robe, a short sword composed entirely of precision gems.

The Wizard Marshal sliced through the air with his weapon, creating a rainbow-colored portal.

"How did you create a portal without using dimensional scissors?" Question Star, surprised at what she just saw.

The only methods of travel across dimensions known to the Kingdom of Mewni and their allies are the dimensional scissors created by Hekapoo.

"Not many know, but Hekapoo was a student of mine. Her scissors are a very simplified version of my magic and an attempt to recreate a Keyblade." Zelretch said, with a mischievous smile, loving to bring up his pupil's past.

'Keyblade ? Where have I heard this word before?' Think Star, swearing she's read something about Keyblades somewhere, probably a storybook.

XXX

Before long, the entire Butterfly and Zelretch family have climbed into an imaginative carriage, drawn by a creature that looks like a combination of a lion and a lizard.

As the carriage moves through the rainbow-colored portal, Star approaches the window for one last look at her home.

"Goodbye, Mewni." Star said, leaving behind everything she knows in favor of a new unknown world.

Mewni's royal family is completely unaware that several evil forces have been keeping tabs on Star Butterfly's departure and arrival.

One such evil force found on Mewni is the living reincarnation of incompetence.

A mysterious individual roaming the Earth has noticed Star's presence, changing his plans for revenge, deciding to include the Adventurer Princess.

XXX

As the portal closed behind them, Star looked out the window to see what Earth looks like.

The first novelty for Star is the low temperatures, while Mewni was in the warm period of the year, the Earth is in the beginning of winter.

"Butterfly family, welcome to Boston, one of the oldest and largest cities in the United States." Zelretch said, making a brief introduction to the city where Star will live for quite some time.

Star continued to observe the landscape offered by Boston, the city is completely different from the simple cities of Mewni.

The roads are black and smooth made from an unknown material.

The buildings are neatly designed and built in dozens of different styles.

Some buildings are as big as a typical Mewni house, others are so big they touch the clouds.

The city is filled with bright lights, beautiful sights and unfamiliar sounds.

Even though the night has begun, the city has not fallen asleep, people are still fully active, walking all over the place.

All these amazing things are absolutely foreign to Star Butterfly who has never seen anything like it.

Princess Adventurer is looking at the strange metallic looking carts that have no animals or people moving them to their destination.

There are tons of other strange things that Star is carefully observing, trying to make sense of everything she sees.

The Princess Adventurer during her brief visits to other dimensions managed to see some things resembling the wonders of the Earth, but they were nothing like what she is seeing before her right now.

"Earth seems to be a beautiful place, so many lights, so many things to see!" Star exclaims, looking taken in by the city lights.

"Star, you can look at the landscape later, now you have to listen to what Lord Zelretch has to say." Queen Moon said, wanting her daughter to be careful.

Princess Adventurer, not wanting to anger her mother, turns in the direction of her parents and Zelretch, ready to listen or at least try not to be distracted by the many lights of the city.

" The Earth is a unique planet, which has undergone a great change for the better in the last twenty years." Zelretch said, a satisfied smile on his face.

The Wizard Marshal is probably the only person in the world who considers the appearance of super-heroes, super-villains, alien invasions and other threats to humanity as something positive.

'Seeing up close how Chaldea led by Luz and Bruce took on Goetia, Knull, Lostbelt Kings entertained me in a unique way.' Think Zelretch, nostalgically remembering how she stood with Olga-Marie Animusphere, Leonardo da Vinci and Romani Archaman, watching the spectacle provided by the Last Master of Chaldea and The Good Witch of Boiling Isles.

"Definitely, you'll have no problem blending into the local culture or even going unnoticed, especially in Boston.

In this city, people have an enormous level of tolerance and/or acceptance for weird people." Zelretch said, aware that Bostonians one way or another have seen enough weirdness to regard Star Butterfly as something minor importance.

"It fills me with relief to know that Star won't have to suffer any problems fitting into the locals." King River said, in a tone of full relief, having deep down the little fear that her daughter might feel like an outcast.

"On Earth, people who can use magic are a minority, who prefer not to be disturbed and left alone to study and practice their magic." Zelretch said, describing the members of the Magus association as cordially as possible.

The Noceda-Clawthorne Family, which will house Star indefinitely, contains the most powerful magic users in Boston.

The eldest son, Bruce Belmont, and the eldest daughter, Luz Noceda, are among the most powerful sorcerers and witches in the world." Zelretch tells a few small facts about the Clawthorne family and the two people who will train the Star Princess.

"I rarely hear you speak so highly of someone. It means Star will be in good hands." said the Moon Queen, feeling slightly more comfortable about leaving her daughter on Earth.

As Princess Adventurer listened to the adults' words, she had a small realization.

"Maybe I misunderstood, but you sound like you're going to leave me alone in Boston?" She asks Star, raising an eyebrow, thinking she's misunderstood something.

" Yes, that's right, you will be on Earth without our surveillance.

Moon and I must return to Mewni and perform our duties as King and Queen." King River said, confirming that his daughter will stay on Earth without her parents present.

" I will live alone as an independent girl, with my magic wand and a new world to explore !" She exclaims Star, with a big smile on her face, as if she's just won the biggest lottery in the world.

Princess Adventurer has always longed for a chance to escape her responsibilities as heiress to the throne and no longer feel her mother's constant disapproval.

'If I knew that setting fire to a city would grant me one of my wishes, I would have become an arsonist girl years ago.' Think Star, completely changing her mind about the flaming rainbow.

The Moon Queen only had to look at her daughter's expression to realize she's planning to throw a crazy party or do something equally irresponsible.

"Star, while you stay here, you will receive private institution from Luz Noceda and Bruce Belmont, who are also your hosts. And I expect you to take this seriously." Said the Moon Queen, having only accepted Zelretch's proposal for the chance that Star would become more mature and responsible.

Not to allow his daughter to make a fool of herself in front of the people of a new world.

' I have to support two boring old teachers, that's bad news. Well, at least I don't have to support my mother anymore.' Think Star, considering the situation quite acceptable.

After all, no teacher on Mewni has kept Princess Adventurer in her class for too long.

"Also, there will be some ground rules while you're here, Star." Queen Moon said, continuing to talk about serious matters.

"First, you must only use your magic during class or when absolutely necessary.

Second, you must not leave the city without being accompanied by one of your teachers.

Three, I want you to be serious about your studies and respect your teachers.

One day you will be the Queen of Mewni and you will have to know how to lead the entire kingdom." Queen Moon said, in a serious tone, bringing Star's responsibilities back into question.

"I get it, mom." Star replies, in a less happy tone, nodding her head.

Hearing or talking about her imminent future as queen is a touchy subject for Star, which very often spoils her good mood.

After this chat the carriage stopped in front of a unique looking building.

The building has three floors, built according to Western architecture, probably Gothic, with some fanciful elements.

The walls are painted lavender and white, most of the windows are made to look like a bird's eye view.

The first floor of the building is actually a kind of shop, with two large windows on the sides and a door in the middle.

The left slide shows a large collection of literature books, a bunch of archaic-looking objects and a pair of mannequins, dressed as the Good Witch Azura and her companion Hecate.

The display case on the right shows a large knight's armor of obsidian, surrounded by various weapons that seem to come out of the history books.

Above the entrance, there is a large sign, which reads: Lumity's Magic Shop.

Oddly, the first two letters (Lu) are white in color, written in comic book type, while the last four letters (mity) are written in elegant lavender type.

The dot at the top of the letter i, of the word magic, is replaced by a sort of circular glyph.

"We have arrived at our first destination." Zelretch said, opening the door and stepping out of the carriage.

Princess Adventurer was next down, wanting a closer look at how she sits in the display case.

"Books are boring, but these outfits are super cute and this arsenal is dreamy." Star said, loving everything she sees in the shop window except books which are sure to be full of useless stuff.

It is quite clear to everyone that Star Butterfly is not a girl who loves literature.

Indeed, Star likes to boast that she has never set foot in a library without being forced to.

"I expected something grander, from one of the most powerful witches on Earth." Comments Regina Moon, slightly impressed by the external appearance of the store.

"Luz Noceda has always been a modest woman.

Once he finished his studies at the Academia Ars Magus, he decided to continue the family business in his own way. He set up a magic shop to help people with paranormal problems and make young witches smile." Zelretch said, continuing to rave about Luz Noceda.

"I can respect someone who doesn't let power get to their head and decide to help people." said Queen Moon, wishing there were more reasonable and charitable people on Mewni.

Surely, her duties as Regina would have been easier and she would have fewer worries about Star's future.

"So I'm about to live in a magic shop, with a kind old lady, who helps the less fortunate and loves the children. Doesn't seem too bad." Star said, imagining a mistress of magic rather like a grandmother.

'Did I forget to mention that Luz Noceda just turned 19?' Thinks Zelretch, rather amused by this misunderstanding.

""Do we go in or do we stay out?" asks King River, starting to shiver from the great cold.

After all, winter has just begun on Earth, there are still twenty days left to finish the month of January.

XXX

The Butterfly Family and Zelretch have entered Lumity's magic shop, which seems to have come out of a Light Novel for teenagers belonging to the Fantasy genre.

Put simply, the shop resembles a perfect combination of a bookshop, an antiques shop, a museum and an Emporium that stocks everything needed by first-year Hogwarts students.

The place was created by an architect who thought seriously about the idea of perfect symmetry.

Four shelves to the left, four shelves to the right, both filled with books and trinkets of all kinds.

Various glass cases containing artifacts of great historical importance.

A pair of spiral staircases leading to the second floor of the shop, filled with other archaic or mundane looking marvels.

Atop the ceiling is a large golden gyroscope, which appears to be capable of some sort of teleportation sorcery.

At the far end of the first floor is an elegant looking wooden desk.

On the left corner of the desk is an electronic cash register, while on the opposite side is a terrarium with an adorable purple snake inside.

' Is it bigger on the inside ?

Has anyone used space magic to improve this place?' asks Queen Moon, quite sure the interior dimensions of the store don't match the exterior dimensions.

Standing at the counter is a young Dominican-American adult with tan skin, dark brown hair, and brown eyes.

The young adult is 19 years old, 164 centimeters tall and her three measurements are: B79, W58, H79.

Above the left eyebrow is a short, faded scar.

He wears a dark purple jacket with a snake design and rolled up sleeves, a purple and white striped shirt, baggy yellow pants with small patches, and purple and white sneakers with a diamond design on each side.

The young woman wears a number of accessories.

For example, the pants are held in place by a simple black belt, equipped with a card holder that looks like something out of Yu Gi Oh.

The young adult wears gold earrings with amethyst gemstones in the shape of raindrops.

Around her neck she wears a plain gold pillar, decorated with a small wand/key amulet holding a bird's head with red eye gems, a beak and a pair of tiny wings on the back of her neck.

Around her left wrist she wears a gold bracelet, made up of small trinkets in the shape of animals, covered with arcane symbols.

On her left hand she wears three rings, each with a perfectly oval gemstone.

All three rings are designed to resemble a specific animal: a phoenix, an owl and a crow.

"Hola, Zelretch, ¿qué te trae a mi tienda y quiénes son tus amigos?

(Hello, Zelretch, what brings you to my shop and who are your friends?)" Luz asks, greeting the Wizard Marshal in a friendly tone, as she watches the Butterfly family.

"Luz, meet Queen Moon, King River and Princess Star, they are Royal Family of the Kingdom of Mewni." Zelretch made introductions to the Butterfly Family.

"It's not the first time blue bloods need our services, but it's the first time they've come to my shop." Luz said, in a calm tone, walking towards the Princess Adventurer.

"Do you need a powerful witch to break a curse, defeat a dragon or something more esoteric?" Luz asks, making some guesses as to why Zelretch brought along a Queen, King, and Princess.

"Zelretch, are you telling me that this little girl is the great witch who is supposed to look after my daughter?" she asks Queen Moon, nearly breaking her poker face.

Queen Moon genuinely didn't expect Luz Noceda to be such a young girl.

"You shouldn't underestimate me, in my job age is just a trivial number." Luz said, hating that people consider her incompetent because of her age.

Luz Noceda from the age of 14 faces supernatural threats of all kinds, her last great adventures, involved an ancient collective of demons who possessed the long corpse of one of the greatest wizards in history and a mysterious god of darkness and the creator of the symbiotes.

"You may be right, but you don't strike me as a powerful witch." Queen Moon said, somewhat skeptical of Luz's magical abilities.

"If you want a demonstration, be prepared to be served." Luz said, deciding to get some of her magical power out of her.

Luz raises her left hand in the air, as if in signal, the purple snake flies out of its terrarium.

"Magus mode, Titan form, activation!" Luz declares aloud, as if she were the protagonist of an Anime.

For just an instant, Luz was enveloped in a cocoon of violet-gold flame.

When the flames are gone, they reveal that Luz has undergone a small transformation that makes her look like a real witch.

Physically she gained twenty-two centimeters in height and her three measurements became: B89, W58, H89.

A pair of large white horns have sprouted from the top of Luz's head.

His hair is long and wild, gaining a more curly look.

His eyes have turned black with yellow pupils.

His teeth have received a pair of fangs worthy of a werewolf or a vampire.

His hands and lower legs have gained a skeletal appearance.

Luz's civilian attire has changed to a black and purple witch dress.

The coolest parts of his costume is the cape and hat.

The fanciful coat is black with rings of bone on the outside with purple on the inside with a pink circular glyph in the centre.

The large pointed hat, colored black, with a gray tip on top and purple inside as well.

Finally, the purple serpent transformed into an authentic scepter of witchcraft.

"Regina Moon, now what do you have to say about me?" Luz asks, as her body is surrounded by a cloak of magical energy, making her look like a demi-goddess of magic.

"I take back my earlier words." Queen Moon replies, managing to keep a neutral face and diplomatic tone.

'Zelretch wasn't playing a complicated joke on me, the girl may be young, but her magical energy is enormous.' She thinks the Moon Queen, having to use all of her self-control not to cringe.

" It was amazing, how did you transform!?

Can you teach me such a spell!?" Star asks, in a brisk tone, approaching Luz.

Princess Adventurer for once in her life wishes to learn something like this, surely such magic would be a great trick for a party.

"First of all, who are you and what's your name?" "First of all, who are you and what's your name?" Luz asks, in a gentle tone, she doesn't seem in the least overwhelmed by Star's energy.

"I am Star Butterfly, a magical princess from another dimension!" Star said in a singsong voice, as she spun around and swept her wand over her creating a rainbow and lots of cute little creatures…before the rainbow was set on fire.

Luz uses her fingers to draw a small glowing circle in mid-air, creating water balls to put out the flames.

"I like your energy and your entrance, but you should do something about the flaming rainbow, maybe replace it with an arc of shining stars." Luz proposes a small change to the presentation of Star, so in the future there will be less chance of burning something or someone.

Zelretch approaches Queen Moon who watches the interaction between her daughter and the Good Witch.

"I think you understand why I chose the Good Witch as one of the two teachers for your daughter.

Luz has a personality that is compatible with your daughter's adventurous nature." Zelretch explains one of the many reasons for the choice he made.

'It will be interesting to discuss my daughter's continuing condition with this witch.' Queen Moon thinks, approaching Luz to discuss.

Queen Moon has a feeling that her daughter's life will be quite bizarre for the time being.
