Melemele Meadow
Somewhere on Route 3, Eddy was facing a girl, both with a pokeball in their hands.
"Go, Cottonee!" said the girl, throwing her pokeball and releasing a white and light green fluffy Pokemon with a pair of green leaves for arms and a pair of orange eyes. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Cottonee, the Cotton Puff Pokemon. When attacked, it expels cotton from its body to create a diversion. The cotton it loses grows back in quickly." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Torracat, Ember!" said Eddy. Torracat jumps up and releases bits of fire onto Cottonee, doing super effective damage.
"Cottonee, Mega Drain!" said the girl. Cottonee becomes covered in green energy and a beam of it is unleashed onto Torracat, entrapping it, but not doing much damage to him due to Mega Drain being a grass type move which aren't very effective against fire type Pokemon, but it did heal Cottonee's wounds a little.
"Torracat, Fire Fang!" said Eddy. Torracat opens his mouth and his fangs become covered in fire. He leaps at Cottonee and bites onto it, dealing super effective damage to it. It falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"No, Cottonee!" said the girl.
"It appears Cottonee is unable to battle, so Eddy wins." said Edd.
"Way to go, Torracat!" cheered Eddy. Torracat cries out in victory. Cottonee's trainer drops to her knees and returns Cottonee to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Cottonee." said the trainer. She gets up and walks over to Eddy and gives him pokedollars. "I knew I was way in over my head when I challenged one of the Eds to a Pokemon battle." She gives Eddy pokedollars. She then reaches into her backpack and pulls out a magazine with the Eds on the cover as well as a pen. "By the way, can I have your autographs?"
"Sure." said Eddy. Ed and Edd walk over to the girl, and they all signed her magazine. She takes it and looks at Eddy.
"Just so you know, I think you're the coolest of the Eds." said the girl. Eddy smiles.
"Thanks." said Eddy. She smiles in response and walks away. Sarah and Jimmy walk over to them.
"If you're done, can we get to Iki Town so we can battle Kahuna Hala?" asked Sarah.
"Yes, let's get going." said Edd. Eddy returns Torracat to his pokeball and the group continue walking. After lunch at the Pokemon Center on Route 2 and picking up their Pokemon, the Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy left the Pokemon Center and are currently travelling on Route 3. They took the time to train their Pokemon. Their Pokemon got stronger, Ed's Yungoos learned Bide, Jimmy's Lucario learned Laser Focus, his Butterfree learned Psybeam, his Inkay learned Hypnosis, and his Pichu learned Thunder Wave. Sarah's Chansey learned Sing. As they continued walking, they see an entrance to a cave.
"What do you think is in there, you guys?" said Ed. "Ooh. Maybe more Pokemon."
"Let's go see." said Sarah as she runs into the cave. Ed follows after her with the others following after. When they got inside, Sarah and Jimmy smile in amazement when they saw a meadow with yellow flowers, and trees inside the cave.
"Wow. It's so beautiful." said Jimmy. While Sarah and Jimmy were admiring the meadow, Edd saw someone who he believed added more beauty to the area. Standing several feet from them was Lillie. Edd breathes into his hand and sniffs it to make sure his breath wasn't bad. He then walks over to Lillie. Hearing footsteps, Lillie turns and sees Edd, making her blush.
"Double-D." said Lillie.
"Hello, Lillie." said Edd. He looks around. "What is this place?"
"Melemele Meadow." replied Lillie. Edd notices a worried look on her face.
"Is something wrong, Lillie?" asked Edd.
"It's Nebby. It got out of my bag again." replied Lillie.
"Again." said Edd. She turns and looks to see Nebby in the meadow, going into a cave entrance. "Why would it go into that cave?"
"I haven't got a clue." said Edd.
"What if a wild Pokemon attacks it. It doesn't have any moves to battle." said Lillie.
"If you want, I could go get Nebby back." said Edd.
"Yes. Thank you, Double-D." said Lillie, running to Edd, hugging him, making him blush. After breaking the hug, Edd, and the others walk into the meadow.
"You can go after Nebby, Double-D, I want to find some Pokemon." said Sarah.
"Very well." said Edd. He walks to the direction of the cave Nebby went into. Sarah is looking around the field when she spots a light green Pokemon that resembled a plant bulb among the flowers.
"Hey, Double-D, before you go after Nebby, can you use the Rotom Pokedex on this Pokemon?" asked Sarah. The Rotom Pokedex flies out of Edd's backpack and floats in front of the Pokemon.
"Petilil, the Bulb Pokemon. They prefer clean water and soil. When the environment they live in turns bad, the whole bunch will up and move to a new area." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"This one looks cute, so I'm going to catch this one." said Sarah as she pulls Chansey's pokeball out of her pocket. "Let's go, Chansey." She throws Chansey's pokeball and releases her. "Use Sing!" Chansey begins to sing. Petilil begins to get drowsy and falls asleep. "Now use Echoed Voice!" Chansey lets out a cry and releases a soundwave that hits Petilil. Unfortunately, Petilil wakes up from the attack. It releases a seed from its head and onto Chansey. The seed opens up and small vines with leaves come out of it and they wrap around Chansey. The vines glow red, and some red energy comes out of them onto Petilil, healing some of its wounds. "Use Echoed Voice again!" Chansey releases a stronger soundwave that hits Petilil, knocking it to the ground. Sarah takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Petilil, hitting it. It gets sucked into the pokeball and after it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, inidating Petilil's capture. "Yippee! I caught a Petilil!" The vines that were wrapped around Chansey fall off her. Edd uses the Rotom Pokedex to learn more about Sarah's new Petilil.
"Okay. Your Petilil is a grass type, it's a girl, she knows Absorb, Growth, Leech Seed, and Sleep Powder. She has the Chlorophyll ability, which doubles her speed when exposed to strong sunlight." said Edd. He then turns to continue finding Nebby. At another part of the meadow, Ed was looking around for Pokemon when he sees a purple object that looked like an arrow on the ground. He picks it up, puts it in his pocket and continues to look around. Edd crawls into the cave he and Lillie saw Nebby go into. He looks around and sees Nebby floating over to him.
"Are you okay, Nebby?" asked Edd. He suddenly hears footsteps.
"Phew. Running around like this sure is tiring." said a female voice. Edd looks to see two futuristic looking people that looked identical to the two people he and the others encountered near Iki Town the day of the festival walking over to him and Nebby. The female looks at Edd. "So the people of Alola meet in places like this, too, huh?"
"Calm yourself, Zossie." said the male. "There is only one thing here we need to confirm. We must find someone strong enough to protect the Blinding One." He looks at Edd. "Let us see if you might be the one."
"You mean by a Pokemon battle?" asked Edd.
"Exactly." said the male. He walks back several feet from Edd while the female, now identified as Zossie walks to a cave wall and turns to observe the battle. Edd pulls out Brionne's pokeball while the man pulls out a blue pokeball with two rings surrounding it on each side diagonally.
"Go, Furfrou!" said the man, throwing the pokeball and releasing a Furfrou.
"Brionne, please assist!" said Edd, throwing Brionne's pokeball and releasing her. 'Furfrou will most likely have the Fur Coat ability, which lessens the damage done by physical attacks, so I'll have to use special attacks.' Edd looks at Furfrou. "Brionne, Baby-Doll Eyes!" Brionne looks at Furfrou and her eyes widen and shine, weakening Furfrou's attack strength.
"Headbutt!" said the man. Furfrou runs at Brionne and rams her, but not doing much damage due to its attack strength being weakened.
"Use Water Gun!" said Edd. Brionne opens her mouth and releases a spiral of water from it and it hits Furfrou.
"Use Sand Attack!" said the man. Furfrou turns around and kicks sand into Brionne's eyes.
"I'm aware that move lowers a Pokemon's accuracy." said Edd. "But it won't help you with this move. Brionne, Disarming Voice!" Brionne opens her mouth and releases a beam of pink soundwave from it and it hits Furfrou. "Disarming Voice never misses." The man was starting to look nervous.
"Furfrou, Headbutt!" said the man. Furfrou runs at Brionne and rams her, but like before, not doing much damage.
"Disarming Voice one more time!" said Edd. Brionne unleashes another beam of pink soundwaves, and it hits Furfrou, knocking it out.
"Looks like I win." said Edd.
"Indeed, you have." said the man. He returns Furfrou to its pokeball. "So that is a Pokemon battle."
"You've never been in one?" asked Edd.
"No. We have tried to investigate what it meant to battle with Pokemon, but it is quite different when you do it yourself." said the man. "At least it seems the pokeball we tried to create has worked properly to capture us a Pokemon here in Alola; And I have seen for myself how strong you are.
"So, Dulse, what are we going to do?" asked Zossie. The man now identified as Dulse points at Nebby.
"Trainer, you should know that this one here warps away if it is threatened in any way." said Dulse. "And the holes that are torn open as a result invite dangerous beings into this world."
"I'll be sure to remember that." replied Edd.
"What about the girl?" asked Zossie. A concerned look appeared on Edd's face, knowing she was prefering to Lillie.
"That girl should have nothing to do with our investigations, nor this Pokemon of hers." said Dulse, pointing at Nebby. "As long as no one is foolish enough to open a path that could lead here from Megalo Tower."
'Megalo Tower?' Edd asked himself.
"Let us carry on, Zossie." said Dulse. They then walked away further into the cavern.
"That was quite peculiar." said Edd. He looks at Nebby. "Shall we get going now, Nebby?" Nebby nods in response. Minutes later, Edd and Nebby returned to Lillie, who was with Ed, Edd, Sarah, and Jimmy. Lillie walks over to Nebby.
"Oh you." said Lillie. She looks at Edd. "Thank you, Double-D" Edd looks away, blushing.
"It was no trouble, Lillie." said Edd. Lillie looks at Nebby and opens her bag.
"Please get back in the bag." said Lillie. Nebby hops into the bag. "We should get going back to Professor Kukui's lab. He's probably worried after the way we just disappeared on him." The group and Lillie all exit the cave. They see Professor Kukui walking over to them.
"Hello, kids." said Professor Kukui.
"Hello, Professor Kukui." said Edd.
"Thanks for tracking down Lillie." said Professor Kukui. "So have you kids completed the first trial."
"You bet." said Ed.
"Then I guess you'll all be facing Kahuna Hala then." said Professor Kukui.
"Oh yeah." said Eddy.
"I'm going to watch. I'm researching Pokemons moves, and what better way than watching intense battles." said Professor Kukui.
"It won't bother us for you to watch." said Edd.
"Well don't let me stop you kids." said Professor Kukui. He points down the path. If you keep going down that path, you should be able to get back on Route One and Iki Town. That's where you'll be facing Kahuna Hala in the Grand Trial of this island."
"Grand Trial? Is that what a battle with an island's kahuna is called?" asked Edd.
"Exactly." said Professor Kukui. He walks down the road. Ed reaches into his pocket and pulls out the purple object he found.
"Double-D, do you know what this is?" asked Ed. Edd looks at the object.
"Why that's a Poison Barb." said Edd. "A Pokemon holding that will have the power of its poison type moves increased. You should give that to your Grimer, Ed."
"Okay, Double-D." said Ed. He lets Grimer out of his pokeball and gives him the Poison Barb, then returns Grimer to his pokeball.
"Come on, we've wasted enough time!" said Eddy. "I want to get to Iki Town so I can face Kahuna Hala."
"Me too!" said Sarah.
"Same here." said Jimmy.
"Very well. Let us proceed, everyone." said Edd. They travel down the road. Now that Nebby has returned to Lillie, the Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy can focus on complete their Grand Trials and be one step closer to competing in the Alola League and the Juniors Division.
