So, third story. No flames, please, I don't want to be set on fire; it's inhumane. Uh I dunno what else to put… On with the story, then!
Our paws carried us to the source of fear, Fireheart was too much of a coward to send a fighting patrol, and Bluestar, well, she just lost her mind; everyone knows it.
It was my idea. Bluestar had made that kittypet, Cloudtail, into a warrior. The rest of us had tried harder than him at all our tasks and we never got food off two-legs. I had been an apprentice longer than Cloudtail, I was the better fighter, I was the one who didn't moan and groan about being set boring tasks, I wasn't the one who disappeared when I had to do something I didn't want to do. Cloudtail only got away with it because he was Fireheart's kin and apprentice.
On we ran, me and Brightpaw, we sped on through our territory towards Snake-Rocks. I heard Brightpaw's thrumming feet slow as we neared the place of so much fear, I heard her hiss, "Swiftpaw, Be careful!" I ignored her.
I pulled myself over an enormous rock and screech a battle cry. There was no-one there. A whiff of dog scent drifted towards me on the light breeze. I turned.
My paws froze in terror as my mind struggled to clarify what I was witnessing. A pack of dogs, five, ten, twenty, I wasn't sure. The largest hound lifted its head and let out a bloodcurdling howl of delight as it set eyes upon me.
The lead dog snarled at me, showing stained yellow teeth. I suddenly wondered why I had chosen to disobey the clan deputy; Fireheart always new what was right for the clan.
Two of the smaller dogs sprang at me. I lurched to one side, two more dogs appeared next to me. I scrambled to my other side, but I was batted back by a huge paw. I lay there, dazed, thinking it was the end, when I heard an exhilarating battle cry. Brightpaw!
I stared in horror, unable to move, as the ginger and white apprentice launched herself at the nearest hound. I could see terror in her eyes… There was terror in my eyes too. If only I hadn't had that mouse-brained idea now, if only… if only…
What was I thinking? I had to get back into the fray of the fight, where Brightpaw was dogging blows that could kill us. I heaved by bloody pulp of a body up, and staggered towards the pack as the smallest hound closed in to kill Brightpaw. I screeched and, with the last of my strength, threw myself at the creature that was troubling Brightpaw.
The dog reared up on its hind legs, howling in pain as I clawed its eyes. I wailed in pain as I felt powerful claws dig into my back; the lead dog! The leader of the pack wrenched me off its friend and threw me to the ground, next to Brightpaw. It was then that I saw her terrible injury; her eye had been hacked off in the dreadful scuffle.
"Oh, Brightpaw, I am so very sorry," I whispered, wishing with all my might that I could have turned back time. Finally, I felt claws in my belly and throat as the lead hound slashed my throat and belly open.
Yeah so, I was a bit bored so I did this… I might add another chapter to it, I'm not sure. I hope you enjoyed it. Remember, read and review!
