Author's Note: So I was listening to the song "We Are Young" by Fun (amazing song, by the way – you should definitely go listen to it), and this is what I came up with.
Disclaimer: I own neither Harry Potter nor the song "We Are Young"
There have been days when I don't care what I look like, when it doesn't matter who my parents are or what the newspapers say about my family. When I refuse to allow the world's expectations of me to dictate my behaviour. Those are the days I live for; the days when nothing else matters except for the fact that I am young and that these are supposedly the best damn days of my life. On those days I tend to don a simple, sexy outfit with unbelievably high heels and venture out to a club with those of my friends who understand that being known is just as much a curse as it is a blessing.
We'll apparate to Brighton or Newcastle or Liverpool or Manchester – somewhere where we're unlikely to run into anyone who knows about our world – and enjoy the anonymity Muggle clubs afford us. We will laugh louder than usual, dance as if our lives depended upon it, and flirt with anyone who seems attractive enough. Those are the nights I live for. The nights when I know that if a guy buys a drink for me he does so because of who I am, not what my last name happens to be or what my father did.
Most of my life I'm content to do what everyone expects of the Saviour's youngest – and only – daughter, but no one is perfect all the time; sometimes the stress of being on display 24/7 gets to be too much. So I come to this fascinating world that lies just outside of mine yet appears light-years away. When I am here, I know who I am. I let my inner phoenix-fire burn brightly; dancing, drinking, laughing – only then can I allow myself to relax and enjoy the youth which I'm repeatedly told is a fleeting thing by my older relatives. Only in this atmosphere of careless levity am I really able to let loose and live.
