For today's chapter, we're going back in the past twice for a bit, in order to see another part of the story.
For the first time we go to after Fine and Rein's heartbreak. Normal POV
Shade and Bright had decided to met up after they knew that their plan was a success. Even through the plan was a success, they felt completely terrible on the inside. How could they just break up with them like that?
"Shade, how long will it take me to forgive myself for hurting Fine? I really think that she took it badly," Bright said, sighing.
"Same with Rein. But we can't just cry and feel sad. We did the best thing for them...right," he asked unsure of what to feel right now. They're only 9, what can you expect? "We're going to school next week. We have to get rid of this... this pain."
"I know," Bright said, trying to convince himself. "I almost feel relived that we're not going to see them for a while, but at the same time I feel sad." Love is too confusing for us to understand right now."
"We'll get through this," Shade said with confidence. "Then maybe when we meet them again, we'll be able to understand them more than right now."
Present... With Rein and Shade
"Maybe this? Or even this," Rein asked holding up multiple items to Shade.
He shrugged his shoulders and said," I don't know. Just get him whatever and he'll be happy."
"You're really unhelpful. I want to get him something that he'll actually like," Rein said, practically yelling at him even through her face didn't really show it. She sighed and walked out of the store finding nothing that she liked. 'What would be so perfect that even Bright-sama will be overwhelmed with happiness?' she wondered as she walked along the streets with Shade following her.
"Miss, you seem to be searching hard for something. Perhaps I can be of assistance?"
Rein looked at the man. In her opinion, he looked a little old with his wrinkled forehead, but very kind with his warm eyes. "I'm trying to find a good gift to give to someone that I really, really like," she said. "Would you happen to have anything?"
"It depends, what else are you planning on giving him?" It was very obvious that she didn't understand what the man was talking about. "Ah, I forget that not many people understand me when I say something like that. What I mean is what are you hoping to bless him with? I have many charms for many different things."
She thought about it for a minute, then finally decided. "Hope, I want to give him hope."
"I have something that's perfect." As he searched with his eyes, he said," Is there a reason for that in particular?"
"Yes. I wish to give him hope when he needs it, even when I'm not here."
"That's a beautiful wish, so it'll surely come true. Here it is," he said holding a white rose pin. "It'll help make your wish come true."
'A white rose... suits Bright-sama best,' Rein thought as she remembered the time when Altezza had said that during a tea party. "I'll take it."
In the past again...
8 years ago, this happened after Bright and Shade had already confessed to Fine and Rein. Shade came by the Sunny Kingdom and Rein was out shopping, but Fine was there waiting for Bright to come over. They're young what can you except for dates? Anyways, Fine found Shade wandering around, hoping to find Rein.
"Shade, you came over again? Sorry, but Rein's out, she'll be back later through." She held the soccer ball out and smiling, she said,"Hey, since Bright's not here yet, why don't we play a game of soccer? It'll be a lot of fun~."
"You'll probably win like always, but fine."
"If I win, you owe me candy," she said as they walked to the soccer field. "Let's start."
She started dribbling the soccer ball and when Shade came to steal it from her, she kicked it up onto her knee and turned. It was close to dancing, both beautiful and elegant. Then soon after she kicked the ball into the goal.
"You know, Shade," she said all of a sudden as Shade finally managed to kick a goal in. Then he turned to her with his full attention. "I really love playing soccer, basketball, and every other sport, so when we start school, let's join a sports club together, it'll be a lot of fun!"
"Sure, then we'll see who's better, you or someone else. That should be interesting."
"Fine, there you are!" Fine turned around to see Bright, smiling and waving at her. "I'm sorry I took so long, Altezza wanted me to help her with something."
"It's okay!" Fine then turned to Shade. "Well, later Shade. Rein should be coming home soon, so just wait a little longer. Thanks for a fun game like always, bring the candies next time." She ran towards Bright. "Ne, what are we going to do today?"
"Tea at the normal cafe, I heard that they had some new sweets and thought that you would want to eat some." Bright looked at her messy and slightly dirty outfit. "Do you want to change into some cleaner clothes first through?"
"Sure, I'll hurry. Then we can go eat sweets together!" Before Fine, was always happy to be eating sweets with the person that she loved. It was a very happy time in her life.
Shade watched as the happy couple went. Soon Rein came and those two started to hang out with each other. Rein and Shade always had things to talk about and Shade had shown her wonderful places all around Mysterious Star that he had found in his time as Eclipse. Honestly for all four of them, it was a very happy and peaceful time, but all things will come to an end.
Present Day...With Fine and Bright
"Thanks again for helping me decide what I should get for Rein's present Fine," Bright said holding out the small bag.
"Well, you did keep your word and brought me ice cream," Fine said licking her chocolate and strawberry ice cream, or what's left of it. It's really amazing how she doesn't get a brain freeze, especially in this type of weather. "Now, help me figure out what Shade would like. Really, I don't understand his preferences at all and when I asked Milky she said that he was fine with anything."
"Well have you at least thought about what you want to give him?"
"I couldn't think of anything! In the past, you and Father would always be happy with what I got you and I normally only get things for girls," she said in order to make it so Bright didn't laugh at her.
"Why don't you get him some herb seeds or a medical book? That way he likes it and can use it," Bright suggested after thinking for a minute.
"That's a good idea...but I don't know anything about medical books and the school has all known herbs in the entire universe, even some that almost no one knows," Fine said remembering the greenhouse full of plants that Kureson-san showed her once. "Any other ideas?"
"I'm sure that he'll be happy no matter what you get him," Bright said practically sparkling.
"In other words, you have no idea," Fine said finishing up her ice cream cone. She broke through her train of thought when she had saw something glaring it's shininess at her. She stared at it, picking it up and admiring its shape. 'A purple rose with a silver cross... it would suit Shade.'
"You know, young lady. This pin, and all the other ones, have a special power," the kind man of the small stand said. "This purple one allows people have hope. Hope is needed when times are rough, if you give this to someone then you are giving them hope."
"Really?" Fine asked, still admiring the pin.
"At least that's what the legend says," the man said cheerfully. "Will you buy it?"
"Sure!" Fine handed the money over without another thought and got the pin in return. As she walked back with Bright, she thought, 'I hope Shade will like this.'
~~~Give something special to a loved one this Christmas and bless them with hope and let them know that you love them~~~~
