Normal POV
One day as everyone was in class learning. Fine and Rein still won't talk to Shade and Bright. However there were glances occasionally. Then-! The door opened, and the Headmistress' head popped in, "Um... Ruby-sensei? Would you mind?"
"This again? How many times will this happen?" She sighed, then said, "Take who you need and please."
"Thank you," she said walking in the room. "Let's see... Fine and Rein just like always. Then.. those two," she said pointing at Shade and Bright. They all looked at her in confusion, then she hit them them. "Well I'll return them later," she said dragging the four of them out of the room.
Fine was the first to awake and the first thing she noticed was that Shade's hand was on top of her own. She blushed then quickly removed it. 'What's going on? Why am I wearing a dress?' she wondered looking down at her Victorian style clothing.
"So you were the one who woke up first, Fine." Fine turned her head in the direction of the voice, to see the Headmistress. "I've very sorry, but I can't decide what this year's theme should be... again."
"That's fine. I'm already used to it. But why am I in these clothes? The corset is too tight and the ribbons are too girly," she said standing up, realizing that she was in heels because she had almost tripped. As she regained her balance she said, "The heels are also too high for my liking."
"I just love Victorian style clothes, they're cute and gothic," she said. "I thought that since boys were going to this party too that it would be good to make boy clothes too. Shorts are more comfy than skirts after all."
"Where are we and in these clothes?" Shade asked waking up.
"Are you criticizing my work?"
"Now, now they're very cute. Will you let me keep some of the outfits from this year?" Rein asked as she and Bright woke up.
"Of course, but do the job first. Therefore, start dancing the four of you and by that I don't mean the 'I hate it' dance, through it is amusing," she said remembering the first time that Fine and Rein had done it in front of her. "Anyways, I mean ballroom dancing, surely Ruby-sensei had taught you?"
"She did...," Fine said regretting not skipping those classes. "How many outfits did you make up this time?"
The Headmistress simply smiled and said, "A lot. I got bored."
Fine sighed in defeat, "Fine, then let's get this over with." Shade took her hand as Bright did with Rein's when the music started. Each dance past by slowly. They changed outfits many times. Dresses of different colors, suits that were different each time, but no matter what they didn't seem any good. "So you were bored and thought of a sweets theme? As usual Headmistress, you're unpredictable," Fine said in a strawberry cake themed dress while Rein was the same except in blueberry.
"But this still isn't good, the theme isn't interesting enough!"
"We're in waffle suits! How is this not interesting enough?" Shade said. True the waffle suits were interesting and somehow incredibly comfortable at the same time, but there was something missing.
"I don't know! Looking at you guys makes me feel hungry. Wait... those designs... incomplete but they might work. I'll be right back!" she said running, before anyone could protest. "There's tea and cookies on the table!"
"Well then, Rein shall we go? Trying on all these costumes makes me hungry," Fine said, while in her mind she just thought about snacks.
"I want to pick out which clothes I want," Rein said going to into the mountain of gowns. Shade and Bright merely watched as those two looked so happy, but why was it that they couldn't reach those two?
Shade's POV
This is annoying... why won't they at least look at us? And these costumes are getting to be weirder and weirder. Really, if this is the Headmistress' plan, then it's not a very good one. Suddenly the Headmistress ran back into the room. "You two change into these," she said throwing two sets of clothes at us. "Fine, Rein, come with me. I have to adjust a few things."
Before the two could protest, she dragged them into a room. I looked at the outfit she gave me this time. A black suit jacket with purple roses as buttons, a white dress shirt, black pants, a tie a deep purple. There was a hat too. Black with purple roses at the side. Not bad, I can actually stand wearing it.
I looked at Bright who was wearing a cream prince like suit from the Victorian age, white roses adorned it. He wore a top hat of white with a cream ribbon and white roses. "It's quite comfortable, despite being hard to put on."
"That's one way of looking at it. Anyways, where are those three? I don't think that it takes long to sew something," I said to him.
"FINE! Sit down or get knocked out!"
"No way! I hate makeup, I will never wear makeup in my entire life!" What the heck? No wait, I don't want to know.
"Rein, hold her down!" I heard someone struggling then the door opened. A girl with waist long red hair came out in a knee lengthen dress that had straps of roses. The dress was red to match her eyes and hair. Barefoot, she ran around trying to hide. Who is this?
"Shade, get her shoes on and hold her down," she said throwing a pair of heels at me. What... is going on? And why are these heel so high? "Fine! Get out here, or I swear that I will replace all your clothes with dresses and all your sweets with makeup!"
"Headmistress, you would do that. Alright then, I'll behave for five minutes." She sat in a chair as the Headmistress did her makeup. Is that really Fine? She's prettier than normal. "So annoying. Shade, give me my shoes. I can't just run around barefoot."
"Shade, why don't you put her shoes on yourself? You're already holding them after all," she suggested. Fine would probably kill me if I did that.
"What-?" See?
"Rein, I still need to finish your hair," she said ignoring Fine's expression. "Then I need to see you all dance. Bright, mind helping? I just need an extra hand."
Bright went to them and finally Fine said,"Shade, you're going to put my shoes on right? I don't care, just do it and she won't replace my sweets with something I hate." I put her feet in the heels and started to tie her shoes.
I know she probably won't listen to me if I try to say anything right now. "This is the first time I've seen your hair down. It's longer than I expected."
She just stared at me. "I don't get it. Dresses, makeup, and long hair. Rein's always like that so she's beautiful no matter what. But as for me... What is it that makes my appearance look so different when we're wearing the same things?"
"Honestly, even through you look pretty right now, I prefer you in normal clothes and no matter what you're wearing, you always look beautiful." I suddenly covered my mouth, hoping that she didn't hear that. Shoot... That's way too embarrassing.
"Well, thanks for putting my shoes on," she said standing up. She's not making fun of me or ignoring me at least. "Cookies, cookies, so good~."
"Okay, hairstyle finished. Now, start dancing together, so I can pick a theme and start decorating," Headmistress said as she walked back into the room.
"By the way, what is this party, anyways?" Bright asked.
"My birthday party and the party that congratulates all graduates. It's it only natural that I want it to be full of fun."
"Oh, so that's it. How old are you turning this year?"
"Excuse me?" Bright, did you forget that we get killed if we ask how old she is? "Just start dancing," she said with a huge anger aura around her. She had started to wind the crank and the elegant dance music started to play.
As we danced, I noticed Fine struggling to keep up with my steps. "Hey, are you okay?" She didn't answer and continued looking at her feet. I watched her feet move. They were slipping a little each time as she put her foot down. Could it be that the heels were too high for her? The next time her foot came in contact with the floor she slipped off balance. I managed to catch her before she fell. "Are you okay? Be careful."
As she regained her balance, she said, "Thank you. These heels are just too high. I'm not used to 3 inch heels."
"That's enough. I've decided," Headmistress said, suddenly stopping the music. "The theme for this year is going to be a Rose Masquerade. Fine, Rein, this year I'll be counting on you. Get undressed first, then I'll explain it to you." They nodded at her and went back into the other room.
"Hey, if this was your plan it didn't work that well," I told her. Even through Fine did talk to me and make eye contact at least.
"That's because this wasn't my plan. Next week is a party that has masks, use it to your advantage," she said walking away. "Oh, and you can keep the suits, they look good on you."
Dresses and jewels are nice, but natural beauty is even prettier, so don't think that you have to overdo your appearance all the time to impress the one that you have a crush on.
