This is a Kouga/Ayame story that will be told in short snippets instead of long chapters. I'm planning at least a 100+ chapters so keep in touch to get the whole story.
The day was dark, gloomy, and bitter, Kouga could taste the sadness of the pack on his tongue. The stench of blood was strong in the damp warm breeze making the cub whimper and shring back, wishing his mother was still there for him to hide behind despite his 700 years of life - 300 without her.
The furs at the front of the den swung aside, the stink washing in, and the tall strong figure of his father stomped the snow from his shoes as he came through. A bundle of furs in his arm shook and cried, dark red liquid dripping off of the soft white baby fur it covered. "Kouga" his father's deep growling voice sounded, luring the boy to his father. "It's your job to take care of her now," he passed the shaking parcel to him. "She has no one else now – Ayame will depend on you, may your hunt be ever true."
Kouga pushed the furs apart, peeking in at the baby slowly calming in his arms – so entranced he didn't even hear his father leave. The sharp blue eyes sleepily blinking back at him held his sole attention.
