P.S. Emma never told Regina her last name...remember... ;)

Chapter 7

Regina glanced up at the clock. Half past five.

Only two more hours and she would be off. Henry wanted to get ice cream after school; she promised him they'll go after she closed.

She reached under the counter and brought out the cleaning basket. She pulled on the yellow gloves, picked up the cleaning chemical, the scrub and headed for the mirrors. The ones that hung on the walls of the store needed to be cleaned often.

There had been only a few sales over the past two weeks. Hardly any order had come in since…

Well no one was breaking mirrors on a regular basis anymore that was for sure.

Regina sighed as she scrubbed away at the glass.

Emma.

She hadn't seen her in two weeks but the woman lingered in her every thought. Emma had come by a few times after that eventful night. Regina had her dad attend to her while she busied herself in the back room. She knew the woman hung around Henry's playground as well, hoping to catch her there. Henry spent a lot of time around the blonde. She watched them read books together, hunched over the park bench. Regina always waited until Henry was alone before she went to pick him up.

"Regina"

It was her father. He stood behind her holding a notepad.

"An order just came in. I know you're closing tonight but this is urgent. It's a delivery. Some student is moving back to her apartment and she needs a new mirror. One of the long ones, for her bedroom. She's paying for installation as well. Think you can handle it?"

Dammit.

"Can you handle your grandson for the evening?" Regina teased her father. He laughed.

"I'm sure Henry Jr. and I can handle a night of cartoon and food you don't approve of"

Regina rolled her eyes. Her father had a tendency of spoiling Henry every time he was in his care.

"Just make sure he doesn't have too much sugar. That goes for you too, old man"

"Who're you calling old?" he pretended to be offended. Regina chuckled and kissed his cheek. Then she grabbed the note pad from him and busied herself preparing the order.

She was headed for the back room when Mr. Mills bellowed from the counter,

"The customer will be riding with you by the way."

Regina waited in her car. The huge mirror was packed and secured in the back seat. Her tool box was there as well.

She waited for her customer to arrive. She checked the name her father wrote down.

E. Swan.

There was a knock on her car window.

"Hi, Mr. Mills said you're delivering my mirror"

The woman was tall. She had a hat on, dark sunglasses and a blue leather jacket. Regina couldn't see her face. Her voice sounded deep and unusual.

"Yeah, I'm Regina. You're… ?"

The woman nodded. Regina beckoned her to get into the car.

Moments later they were on their way, driving towards the highways, leading to North Shore apartments, by the lake.

It wasn't until they were halfway across the city when the woman next to her decided to speak. They were stuck in traffic.

"Well that was easy enough"

The woman took off her sunglasses to reveal bright green eyes that twinkled with mischief. She took the hat off as well.

Regina watched, her mouth hanging open as the woman she had been trying to avoid for weeks sat before her eyes.

It was Emma.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Regina nearly screamed at the sight of the woman.

"Well I needed a mirror delivered to my apartment" Emma answered, faking an innocent look.

Regina glared at her.

"I thought you lived with your mom" she retorted.

"Yeah during spring breaks, winter holidays and over summer. Spring break ends tomorrow" the blonde shrugged.

The traffic broke. They drove in silence for a few moments. Regina's head was still trying to register the fact that Emma was sitting right beside her and they were heading towards her apartment.

"Regina…I…needed to talk to you…"

"Oh so you decided to do what disguise yourself and keep me hostage?" Regina snapped at the woman. Emma laughed this time.

"Keeping you hostage? You are driving the car…You are coming to my apartment."

"Well I don't have a choice now do I?"

"No. Not really. Still if it's what you really want then just stop the car by the road. I can walk."

Without thinking, Regina drove the car on the side of the road and hit the brake. Emma watched her face for a moment. Then she opened her door and stepped out.

Regina breathed in relief. Then suddenly the sound of another door opening made her look back.

"What are you doing?"

"Well it's my mirror so…"

Emma was trying to haul off the huge mirror by herself. Regina needed her father's help to bring the mirror out of the store and into the car. Watching Emma struggle with it made her anger fade a little bit.

"Emma, don't be stupid."

"Oh you think I'm stupid now do you?" Emma suddenly yelled out, clutching at the package, "You think I'm stupid for breaking mirror after mirror just to be able to see you every other time? You think I'm stupid for kissing you and feeling like…like…and then stupid for wanting to be around you and have…something…just…don't you dare!"

The last bit was shot furiously at her as Regina had reached out to help Emma pull the mirror out of the car. Regina swallowed as Emma glared at her and quickly retrieved her hand.

"Emma…please…just"

"No. You just sit at the wheel. Just drive the car or push me away or do whatever. If I want to carry this goddamn mirror then I will do so and you can't do anything about it. This is something I want to do and I can do so you back off!"

"Emma…get back in the car…" Regina asked the blonde, her voice gentle and pleading.

"No"

"Please."

"Oh you're gonna say please now, really? I requested you to stay…I said please… did it stop you from walking away? You just…walked away…"

"I'm sorry."

That stopped Emma at her fruitless struggle to lift the mirror. She simply stood, chest heaving, by the car door, her blonde curls flying everywhere, being swept by the wind as cars rushed by them on the highway. Regina waited.

"I had to pull this…stunt…to get to you. You've been avoiding me for days. I guess maybe the kiss was a mistake-

Regina swallowed hard. Did Emma really think it was a mistake?

"- I mean, I might've stepped over the line or something. I just…I dunno… when I'm around you I can't think clearly and in that moment I just really wanted to kiss you. When you started kissing me back I just figured…maybe…and then you pulled away and left so fast I…"

"I'm sorry" Regina repeated. It sounded more like a whisper this time, "Please, get in the car?"

She sighed as the blonde closed the back door and walked up into the front seat.

"It wasn't a mistake."

Emma looked towards her, green eyes searching her face, waiting for her to say something more. Regina looked away and started the car again.

They both sat quietly as the car rolled back into the Boston traffic.
