In the darkness of their bedroom, Emma opened her journal.
So many words were running through her head- she needed to put them on paper. Emma sighed and looked around for a pen, then settled back down on the bed, back against the headboard.
She was sound asleep beside her. Emma smiled as her eyes sneaked a look.
My wife. She's my wife now.
Her back was facing her, one arm stretched out to her side, a soft white bed sheet covered her from waist down as she lied on her stomach, breathing softly. Emma marvelled at the smooth bare skin, the shapely muscle of those arms, the curves of her shoulders-Regina was a beautiful sight.
I've known her all this time and I still can't get enough of her.
Emma leaned over and planted a kiss on Regina's back, softly. She then turned back to the empty pages before her.
It had been one of the best days of her life. She could feel her need to write, give words to those thoughts and memories that were overwhelming her.
Emma closed her eyes. Her mind went back to earlier in the day when she stood, under a beautiful gazebo, waiting eagerly for her bride.
…
They had agreed on a small, close friends and family only event, it was exactly that. Ruby was delighted when she was asked to be Regina's bride's maid, by the bride herself. Regina tried to take care of every little detail of the wedding preparation, but her to be mother-in-law wouldn't have any of it.
"I'm not taking a step away from this place!" Regina had declared, crossing her arms firmly the day before when her mom asked her to leave the preparations to her. Emma had stood awkwardly between the two women while they argued, trying not to get caught in the crossfire.
"Regina, dear, I will make sure everything gets done as you requested. You should relax, trust me."
"Last time I took a little break, the drapes all turned pink! Someone here clearly is colour-blind, especially if they can't tell the difference between pink and soft lavender." Regina muttered bitterly.
"One small mistake! We fixed it didn't we?!" her mom spoke, throwing her hands up in frustration. Emma had tried to step in.
"Regina maybe you should just leave it, they know what we want, mom can handle it with the wedding planners you and I cou-
"I am NOT going anywhere until every table is set, the drapes and flowers have been arranged, and the gazebo has been fixed up" Regina growled.
Emma knew how stubborn this woman was, so she stayed as well, while Regina went around tormenting the decorators, annoying her mother even further. Hours later, Regina finally allowed Emma to pull her away after she inspected every little thing and found them satisfactory.
"You are a real pain sometimes, you know that" Emma had whispered, as they stood under a tree, on the back yard of Bill's cottage where they were to get married the next day.
"Oh yeah. I can be a real bitch." Regina shrugged. Emma chuckled as she wrapped her arm around Regina's waist.
"Regina?"
"Yes, dear?"
"We're getting married tomorrow" Emma whispered. Regina leaned against her, resting her head on her shoulder.
"We are…"
"Tomorrow, by this time, we'd be a married couple. You'd be my wife" Emma sighed dreamily.
"Mmmm…" Regina nuzzles into her neck and pulled her closer for a kiss. She whispered in her ears, "I love you, Emma Swan."
"And I love you." Emma murmured, hugging her fiancée tightly against her chest.
…
Emma's mind sifted through little memories from that morning- the arriving guests, Graham coming over to congratulate her, Bill playing his piano while the local college band set up their instruments etc.
Emma focused on her favourite moment of the entire event- when she was standing under the gazebo, facing the aisle between the rows of chairs. The music changed track and played the familiar tune. Her bride had appeared on the other end
Emma's pen started moving on the lined paper:
I held my breath,
When she walked towards me-
Holding daisies and roses,
White dress soft against her skin,
She smiled when her gaze locked upon me
I couldn't breathe,
The world was lost to me,
She was the only one my eyes could see…
Emma had stood tall in her black tux, in front of the podium from where Graham was soon going to conduct the ceremony. She swallowed hard as her bride had walked forward, with her breathtaking smile while the small crowd watched in silence.
When she took my hand-
In the sea of her brown eyes
I could see a wave rise
I wanted to reach out and catch the tears
Before a precious drop would fall
Before it was lost
But her hand gripped mine tight
She wanted to cry.
Their vows were simple, they both spoke in steady voices- pledged to be by each other's side through good and bad, forever. Little Henry trotted over with their wedding rings, they exchanged them in turn. Emma's heart pounded within her chest the entire time. Then finally Graham spoke those words that tied them together.
"…I now pronounce you a married couple. Wife and wife. You may now share a kiss."
Her lips touched mine,
Binding us together for life,
I held my breath as they cheered behind us,
That special moment when we became one,
She was mine
I was hers
For eternity
Forever,
Our happily ever after.
They spent the rest of the day celebrating with their friends. Mr. Mills took turns dancing with Regina, then with her. Her mother got drunk after her eighth glass of champagne and started flirting with Graham, who was extremely uncomfortable by the whole situation. Ruby came over to hug both her and Regina before rushing off to catch her train-she was leaving for her grandma's place. Henry nearly finished the half the wedding cake by himself and totally refrained from touching any other food item.
Emma and Regina had danced; talking softly into each others ears- they were lost in their own little world, while their guests and family enjoyed the ceremony.
Everyone finally said goodbyes once it started getting dark.
Emma had walked a really sleepy Henry over to Mr. Mills' car and tucked him in. Regina reached in and kissed his forehead before her father drove off.
They were finally alone.
Without a word, Emma had grabbed Regina by her waist and swept her feet off the ground.
"Emma! You're gonna break your arms, honestly!" Regina squealed, grasping Emma's neck as she was bride lifted into the cottage. They had the place all to themselves for a week before they went back to the city.
"It's the tradition!" Emma laughed then kissed her bride on her cheek. She carried Regina into their bedroom and gently lowered her on the bed. She then got on top of her and kissed her on her lips.
"mmm…." Regina sighed, pulling Emma closer.
"God…you're breathtaking…I couldn't take my eyes off of you all day…" Emma breathed, tracing her hand over the front of Regina's dress, "I have a beautiful wife"
"I have a gorgeous one right here as well" Regina smiled, kissing her once again. Her hand trailed into Emma's blonde waves as their lips danced together. Emma could smell roses on Regina-the sweet scent was deliciously overwhelming.
"As much as I love this dress on you…I think it's time you took it off…" Emma muttered after their kiss broke, "I want to make love to my wife…"
"Help me take it off."
Regina got up from the bed and stood. Emma went around her and pulled the zipper down. The dress fell down to Regina's feet.
Emma gasped at the sight before her.
She took in the many straps and the pieces of silk clothing that clung to Regina's curves. Emma let her hand roam over Regina's thigh, where the garter outlined a very desirable path.
"Like what you see?" Regina asked, her lips were twisted in a playful smirk.
She had let out an animalistic growl and pushed Regina on the bed once again.
Emma smiled at the memory. She had made sweet love to her gorgeous wife all night. They were completely spent, tangled up in each others limbs and sweating through the sheets by the time they finished.
...
Emma closed her journal and lied back down beside her wife. Regina turned around.
"Emma…" she murmured sleepily. Emma pulled her closer and kissed her forehead.
"I'm right here, Regina" Emma whispered as Regina wrapped her arm around her body.
"Mmm…"
Emma smiled at the soft sound Regina made and held her close. She traced her finger over the toned arms and caressed her back.
I feel home. I want to be in her arms like this…forever…
Emma thought, sighing peacefully as she drifted off to sleep with Regina breathing softly against her chest.
*note: I'm not sure how I feel about this chapter, I don't trust my writing ability much, it has failed me in the past…I tried my best to put in words how I saw their wedding and how Emma felt…two more chapters before this story ends. Thanks for reading!
P.S. The lines emma wrote, once again, my work :)
