A/N: this is only my second completed story that I have posted. I hope you like it. Marlene and Sirius are one of my favorite couples!

A/N: I don't own Harry Potter no matter how much I wish I do!

Musings

Marlene McKinnon was sitting by the lake on the last day of her 7th and last year at Hogwarts. Her and her friends had decided to meet there for one last group hangout before they all got busy with jobs and the war and she had decided to come down early because she wanted a bit of peace and quiet.

As she sat facing the lake she began to think about how they all got to this point. If someone had told her in 5th year that she would become best friends with the people she swore she would always hate and that she would fall in love with the man she did, she would have most likely punched them in the face then check to make sure no one had cursed them.

Marlene thought back curse bet she had made with Mary MacDonald back in 5th year. It was right after the Snape incident and Mary had bet her that Lily and James would actually go on a date before they graduated. Mary of course won that bet but Marlene could honestly say she was happy to had over the 10 galleons to Mary the day Lily said yes. She knew that she lost the moment she made the bet but she didn't want to admit it because she felt like if she admitted that Lily and James would get together she would have to admit her feelings about a certain Marauder that she swore she hated as much as Lily hated James.

She was broken out of her thoughts when she felt someone come up and sit behind her. He put his legs on either side of her and wrapped his arms around his waist. She leaned back intHimyarites boyfriend and looked up at his smiling face, his grey eyes sparkling.

"What are you thinking about love?" Sirius Black asked.

"Just thinking about how much has changed in the last two years." She replied, turning back to face the lake again while leaning into his strong frame.

He didn't say anything for a long time. He just played with the promise ring on her finger that he had given her for Christmas. When he finally broke the silence he said, "There has been a lot of changes in the last two years hasn't there. Who would have thought that we would be dating, James and Lily would be engaged and that the Marauders would have made it to graduation without being expelled."

She laughed at The last one because at more then one point in her time at Hogwarts she asked herself the same question. "I think Dumbledore and McGonagall had a soft spot for the four of you. That's the only explanation off how you got away alive when you got McGonagall really angry."

He playfully pushed her shoulder and laughed with her. That was how the rest of their friends found them 45 minutes later.

They all joked around and remembered old memories together until the sun set and it was too dark to see anything.

As they all started to stumble up to Gryffindor tower they were all thinking about how bright their futures were looking despite the war. They had no idea that in just four short years the war would be over for only a short time but at a very steep price.

The End
