Alex's POV
"Master," A trembling Lucius bows at my side and his ashen face looks toward me in mixed hope and terror.
"I daresay, Lucius, that you must have something very important for me if you've summoned me with great urgency."
"Yes my Lord! Most beneficial news for you. We caught one, he's part of the order. The one that was charged with protecting the potter girl. We know for a fact that he also closely interacted with the vampires."
"And so?" Malfoy flinches at the sound of my voice, "What have you gotten out of him?"
"My lord, we have tried all we could; it's useless he won't give in."
"Are you to tell me that you are unable to break the man enough to get out the information I demand? This is a poor way to redeem yourself Malfoy. Is there no others that can carry out this assignment with more efficiency?"
There is no answer, a wise choice that could have saved his life.
"Bring him to me."
I move across the fireplace with an eerie swiftness that does not come from my own uncoordinated feet but rather from someone else's. The great snake coils around my bare feet as I sit facing the fire. I do not move away from it despite my momentary repulsion.
Sounds of footsteps and manhandling fill the room and I sit still as a man is thrown at my feet where Nagini hisses at him and begins to uncoil.
"Easy Nagini, not just yet." The soothing words sound distant and cold to my mind but the voice of her master soothes the loyal serpent.
I flick my wand upwards and the mans body is raised off of the ground. There levitated above the ground I take a better look at the face of a man. He could be young, but his features have been marred far beyond recognition.
"Now, let's see what it is that you've hidden so well from my servants."
The sudden screams in the room are all blocked as my mind delves into the locked spaces within the man. My determination charges through every vault, destroying anything that is useless to me. The laughs of a family, the Christmas tree, the caress of a woman; all of them shattered. My mind coils around everything in its path and squeezes it until it cracks. The man's face contorts and I observe the pus-filled cuts on his face and the dark socket where his eye should have been. My mind, elsewhere breaks every connection, every memory of his, causing much more mental damage than what has been done to his body. And for a while I find nothing until I reach the root of everything he is. And I find what I look for and I have found them.
"Thank you for your very helpful collaboration Mr. parker; and just to show how merciful I can be,"
A flash of green light illuminated the face of Frank parker before everything turned black.
My own screams woke me up, yet again. But this time it wasn't just me. I jerked upright as I heard bustling in the dark. Cold sweat made my clothes stick to my body.
"What is it?!" I shielded eyes as the tent drowned in bright light. My mind went a mile a minute, trying to process many things at once while my body remained glued to the bed, paralyzed and useless. My mouth tried to form coherent sentences but I was aware that to everyone else it simply sounded like frantic blabbering.
" Harry! What's going on! Alex?" I felt a pair of hands on my face, forcing me to look up, and my maddened eyes met with Hermione's own worried ones. Ron and Harry stood on either side of her, Harry's expression was as wild as mine's must have been but he seemed considerably more composed than I.
Ron was quick to catch that glance between Harry and I, "Harry, what did you see?"
Harry's eyes slid from my own and his expression was a calculating frown.
"You Know Who has found the Cullens, and Frank is dead. They're going to move in quick. We need to beat them to the Cullens. Luckily Frank took the necessary measures to protect them. It'll buy us some time against the death eaters...unfortunately it'll make the search for them harder for us."
"We need to move quick," I spoke and found my feet. "C'mon!"
"Wait!" I turned impatiently towards Hermione. "Alex we can't just go off like that, we need a plan-"
"To hell with your fucking plans! They're going to find them if we don't hurry up and they'll be handed straight to him. He's going to kill them Hermione! And they don't even have the hope of defending themselves against the death eaters because they don't know what they're up against and that's all my fault!" My chest was heaving and I sat at the edge of the bed.
"what have I done?" I whispered
"Hey, no, listen to me Alexandra." Harry took a hold of my hands, roughly shaking me in the process. "Stop it! This is not the moment to beat yourself up over this or to start blaming yourself. What's done is done, and you cannot just run in there without knowing what to do, you won't help anyone like that."
"But-"
"Listen to me!" he shook me until my teeth rattled. " what happened the last time we ran off trying to save someone without thinking it through?"
My mind replayed Sirius face as he fell through the veil.
I nodded in understanding and stood up shakily and blinking fast. He'd never been more right. I needed to stop lamenting over my mistakes and do something to make them right. "Okay, what's our plan?"
Bella's POV
My feet hardly touched the snow, hardly left a trail, as I sped across the woods towards the house; leaving far behind my attackers…and Alice.
My sight brought into view the house, its occupants were now alert to my approach and worried over the urgency in my run. My entrance was violent, and frantic, fear was not an emotion a vampire ever wore well and my expression was the very definition of fear.
"Bella, what is it?" Carlisle was quickly at my side as everyone rounded me.
"Where's Alice?" Jasper's low menacing voice rang loud and clear through my ears and I was at loss for words. If I told them I ran when she'd been captured I'd be a coward in their eyes. They would not understand that I needed to return to the house to warn and protect them from beings they had no knowledge of. But it's not like I had much space for lying.
"Jasper, please, you need to list-" My sentence was cut short by his attempt to attack. The motion was caught by Edward soon before it happened and he caught Jasper around the neck. The force propelled them backwards and sent them crashing against the coffee table, now reduced to tiny splinters and a crater on the floor. Emmett Jumped in at the scene and helped restrain the raging vampire, keeping him away from me as Esme and Carlisle joined my side and Rosalie watched both groups waiting for some sort of explanation.
"Jasper listen! They caught her, but please understand! I had to leave her, I needed to warn you all, you wouldn't have known what you were up against! They would have killed you all."
"Who are you talking about? The Volturi?"
"No Esme… Alice and I were out hunting and the next thing we know we were surrounded by hooded figures, and Alice, she was thrown off because she couldn't see it coming. She was completely blind to her gift and disoriented she wasn't able to defend herself soon enough. I had enough time to run over but they'll find us soon!"
"But who? What have you done you little-"
"WIZARDS! Dark wizards Rosalie! They're after us, all of us, and stop looking at me like it's my fault because it isn't!"
"Wizards?" Rosalie bellowed looking at everyone incredulously. "Is this a fucking joke?"
"Bella," my head whipped towards Carlisle who had a reassuring hand on Esme's shoulder, "Perhaps you are saying the truth. You must, however, understand that the manner in which you returned to this family is…suspicious, to say the least."
"Maybe if you explained," Edward continued. "Explain everything to us, then we might be able to get Alice and find a way out."
I didn't meet his eyes, telling him of Alex's existence and his relationship with her would be the end of my chance; then again, I suppose a never had a chance, maybe that's why I'd always felt like I could not measure up to him. That's why I'd always felt the need to become like him, so I'd be able to have a chance with him. But I didn't listen to Jacob when he told me that Edward was not for me. I was too stubborn to hear the truth of the matter…
"Bella." I felt his soft touch on my stone face and reveled in the feeling, comparing it to the hazy human emotions I'd retained. "You know what happened to us, don't you?"
I closed my eyes and nodded, hoping that they would not hate me for keeping it away from them.
"Then tell us," he murmured. "We deserve to know." I felt vulnerable under his gaze and I swiftly moved away from his side.
"I'll tell you all you want to know. Just let me call someone who could help us and even explain this better. You guys were after all fairly close."
They all kept their eyes on me as I dialed the number Frank had given me in case of an emergency. With every empty ring my heart sank. I dialed again and was taken to the voicemail once more. I had no one else I could turn to.
"Listen I am going to explain to you what I know, but we need to get out of here first, before they find us."
"What about Alice?" Jasper barked he was still being held back by Emmett.
"We will get Alice back Jasper." Edward responded but his eyes were on me, measuring me; gauging whether I could be trusted. "Bella we won't move from here until you explain-"
"There's no time right now! They'll be here soon and we have to move."
"I can't hear anyone's thoughts out there, they're not all that close."
"I wouldn't underestimate them Edward, even I don't know the extent of these peoples powers."
"Well, you're still not convincing-" Rosalie stopped mid sentence as she heard various cracks in the air. We all turned to the large windows simultaneously and to my horror a dozen hooded figures had materialized from thin air.
"Where is it?" we all heard a male voice come from a masked body.
"They're here." Another assured and I stared as he began rounding the house, his sight was right on the house and yet he could not seem to see us or the house.
"Let's go!" Emmett called and I dashed to block their way through the door.
"You need to listen-" I began to plead and Emmett was about to move me aside when a chorus of shouts made us all stop. We all looked out where the hooded figures where now under attack.
"Three more arrived." Edward informed us. We had to believe it, we could not see the figures, they were hidden by the dark trees. "It seems they're trying to help us."
I turned to the wild looking Jasper and I began to speak a mile a minute.
"Those three people out there are our way to Alice, we need to get them away to safety where they can help us get Alice and can get us away where we won't be found by whoever is after us. We're all going out there while the others are distracted, and we'll take them to safety; keep as close as possible."
They all listened to me, knowing that it was the best shot we had at facing this. "I promise everything will be explained when we're out of here."
We all shot out of the house, taking some hooded figures by surprise and easily knocking them down and possibly killing them, none of us stopped to find out. Edward, listening to the thoughts of our allies, led us to where they hid behind the trees and three bodies were taken into Jasper's, Carlisle's, and Emmett's arms. I recognized all of the faces and I looked around wildly for Alex, realizing she was not amongst the group at that moment flashes of light began to target us.
"Hey!" I looked to the right and found her hiding behind a large rock I snatched her into my arms a little too roughly but continued running, trying to put as much distance between us and those wizards as possible. I was trailing behind them by some feet and then I felt a blow at my side. Alex screamed as she was thrown out of my arms and rolled a little ways away. I looked at the source and was face to face with Jane's blood red eyes. I looked around and saw her brother crouching over Alex as she looked back with wide and fearful eyes.
"Remember Alec, the human girl lives." Jane hissed her warning. Alex's wand was still in her hand and everything happened in the blink of an eye. There was a flick of her wrist and the forest was illuminated with blinding light, I took my chance and hurled my body onto jane, The light was out soon but it bought enough time for Edward to return to our aid. As the light went out I saw Edward wrestling Alec away from Alex.
Edward then fell to the floor, writhing under invisible torture. I strengthened my hold on Jane as she concentrated on torturing him and pushed her in front of my body.
"Alex!" I roared and Alex moved fast and pointed her wand at jane. I heard her shout something and with a flash of light Edward's screams subsided and Jane went limp under my hold. Alec's initial distraction was gone and he tried to get a hold of Alex. I threw myself in front of her as Edward caught him around the neck and easily twisted his head off.
"No time for a fire." I called to him as Alex quickly climbed onto my back and we continued to run after the rest.
We stopped at a small clearing where everyone else had already arrived. Alex got off and quickly went to stand next to her brother who was just as shaken as she.
"He's got vampires on his side now. We were just attacked-"
"There's no time. The more pressing matter is getting them out of here." Harry nodded towards us as we stood staring at the exchange.
"Alex," I asked stepping forward and the Cullen's turned to look at me. "Where's frank?"
She didn't look at me, in fact her eyes went over my family as if searching. "Where's Alice?"
"That's what I would like to know. Where's my wife?" Jasper spat.
"Well we don't have her if that's what you're thinking." A red haired boy snapped back. Jasper crouched threateningly and Alex quickly took a step forward putting her hands up in front of her defensively as if her body alone could stop the angry vampire.
"you have to listen Jasper." I watched as he made a small movement, a sign of surprise that Alex knew his name and addressed him in such a familiar manner. "Listen we will get Alice back I promise you but we need to get you guys out of here-"
"NO!" Jasper tried to lurch but he was held back, "I'm not leaving here without her. You think I trust you?"
"Given the situation you're in, I think it's in your best interest that you trust us." Alex hissed taking a step closer, I watched as a flurry of emotions passed through her face and I was amazed at how different she seemed from the last time we'd seen each other, her facial features had become more defined; less of a girl, more of a woman. There had always been some sort of natural innocence that hung around her like an aura; that was gone now. Maturity took over her and had turned her eyes hard; though she was easily recognizable there was so much that was different about her.
"What are you going to do, face a species you know nothing off? You better than anyone else ought to know the importance of knowing your opponent. If you want to see Alice again you listen to us, Jasper. You are going to go wherever we take you and you will wait for us to bring her back. I know that's the last thing anyone could possibly do but you will do it."
"You think we're going to listen to you?" Rosalie barked.
"It's what I expect. We're the only ones that can help but we cannot do it with you lot standing in the way. It would be more damaging than beneficial. The way I see it you have no other choice, if you have any option that doesn't involve a few of you dying please tell me."
"Our kind is involved in this too." Edward spoke up, he looked every bit as defiant as Rosalie and Emmett but I knew him well enough to see the turmoil in his mind. He knew they had our best interest in mind, he could see their honesty and I was sure that Jasper could feel it too. But lack of memory left them all on edge. Alex didn't look as he spoke.
"Yes but they'll sooner kill you than us. They took Alice because they are using her as bait to get us." Harry urged, impatient now, " We don't have much time, please just do as we ask."
"listen to me jasper, and pay attention to what I'm feeling. I promise you that I will do everything possible to bring her back to you, you can trust me. We won't leave her behind, I know none of you can understand what's happening but you need to know that I love Alice as much as you all do. She's like a sister to me as well, I will bring her back and protect her just as you all would." She turned her sight to Edward for the first time, "You can't hear me, I know, but you can hear them. You better than anyone else know our honesty and Jasper can feel it. I know it."
Jasper looked at her and shook his head. "I'm staying," she narrowed her eyes and raised her wand to his chest. "I'd rather not leave you unconscious but I will do it if you don't do as I say. Your stubbornness might just kill us all and I am not going to permit that. You want to stay here and what? Fight out a kind you know nothing of and have your family and maybe even your wife killed?" Jasper breathed hard but I could see his resolve wavering. "You're going to listen and do as you are told Jasper, and then we will bring her to you."
He said nothing and Alex looked around the rest of us as if waiting for anyone else to oppose her, fire seemed to dance in her eyes and it was clear that she was going to do anything possible to get us out of the way. She glanced at Edward then looked away as she spoke to him.
"Do you hear anyone?"
"No." he responded, knowing it was him she was addressing.
My sharp eyes had noticed the way her eyes only lingered momentarily on him whereas his own had not left her since I'd put her down on the ground.
"You guys take them." Her brother spoke to Hermione and the red haired boy. "Alex and I stay to look for Alice. Then you come back as soon as you leave them with Bill."
"You can't move from here." Hermione warned them. "We need to find you as soon as we apparate."
"We'll wait here then." Alex promised. "Be quick we need to find her as soon as possible." She turned back to us. "They'll be taking you with some friends of us, they're your friends too. Wait for us to return with Alice."
The determination and resolve was all there clearly displayed on her tired face and I could not doubt her. I looked at everyone else and it was evident that while they were not happy with the idea they felt her honesty.
"Bring her back." Jasper called, "If you know what you are dealing with then you will bring her back at all costs. If the next time I see you she's not with you, you won't have time to even raise that stick of yours." He nodded to her wand and she gave him a single serious nod.
We all joined hands and I took Edwards hand, he turned his eyes down to me before looking up at Alex who stared at Hermione and the other boy. A moment of hesitation crossed his features and he took a step forward. Alex caught the motion and turned to look at him.
I knew nothing had died between them, if anything it seemed to me like that connection they shared had only gained strength and it was all the more palpable, it buzzed in the air like electricity.
"I hear something." He warned her and she nodded.
"Go." She told him reassuringly and the last thing we saw was her and her brother drawing a cloak over themselves and disappearing from sight as everything in my sight turned black and I felt a strange pressure on my chest.
Third person P.O.V
"It's been too long." Jasper muttered and paced back and forth. Sometimes it was all too easy to act human. His words echoed those of Bill's who sat on a stool on the porch of their small home. Everyone else was still, with millions of questions cluttering their minds while tension kept them from asking.
"I think," Edward finally spoke up in an effort to distract himself from the voices in his head. "That we've waited long enough some answers are in order don't you think?"
Bill looked at him and rubbed the back of his neck tiredly, "If I had the complete puzzle pieced together I'd tell you. Unfortunately I don't, telling you would convolute things more than they already are. If you want concrete answers, Alex is the one to give them."
"Vat if she does not come vack?" Fleur asked worriedly. Rosalie glanced suspiciously at the woman who seemed to beautiful to merely be human and went back to glowering.
"Then I best bring someone that can break a memory charm more effectively than I." Bill sighed. "Maybe I should contact the order. Frank said he was keeping an eye on all of you, I can't imagine why he wouldn't show up when you called for help."
He began to get up when a sharp cracking sound tore through the air, though this he did not hear for it was too far away for human ears. All the vampires, however, heard it quite clearly. They rushed to the edge of the cliff to where they could see the shore and clearly saw Alice's black head amongst a group of people.
Jasper was in the lead, as she caught sight of him rushing to her she ran into his arms; both of them clinging to each other in an embrace uncharacteristic of either of them though completely understandable. The rest of the family reached and embraced her, asking what had happened. Bella smiled at the sight and then took in the other people. She rushed to the aid of the old man and easily took him into her arms.
"He's hurt." She called to Bill who had finally reached them.
"Blimey! It's Ollivander!" he muttered in surprise. "Take him to the cottage, Fleur will tell you where to put him. He glanced at the goblin and recognized him as Griphook. Who was also hurt though he did not look nearly as bad as the old wizard.
"I can take him." Carlisle offered and successfully hid his interest on the creature.
"you're Ron's brother?" Dean asked, and Bill paled visibly at the realization that his brother was not amongst the group. In fact, Edward noted, none of the four had made it back. A sinking feeling settled in his stomach and he thought of the girl, the way her eyes had stayed determinedly averted from his own.
Dean shook his head, "They took Hermione and they stayed back to get her. We don't know anything else besides that."
"Where are they?"
"The Malfoy's."
He turned away, looking at the ocean, a grave expression on his face.
"Is there anything we can do?" Alice walked forward, her hand securely in Jasper's own. "They saved me, from what I'm not sure, but it's the least we could do."
Edward waited for Bill's answer though he'd already heard it in his mind.
"Let's wait…they're slippery kids, they'll wriggle their way out." But Edward noted the uncertainty and anxiety in his tone.
"Go to the cottage up the hill. My wife, Fleur, will take care of you there." He told Luna and Dean. Edward watched them walk away, they were only kids in his eyes, though looked to be of his apparent age and he wondered what kind of a war had they stepped into. It had to be something of the sort, he could find no other explanation for the events unfolding before them. Worse yet, it was a war that was now dragging his own kind and that was bound to be catastrophic.
"We ought to go see if there's anyway we can be of service." Esme said and Everyone but Bill and Edward stayed behind, both wrapped in their anxieties though Edward couldn't understand the level of his own worries.
"It's been a while since I last saw you." Bill began, "Though you look much the same."
"If you'd seen me a hundred years ago I would have looked the same." Edward answered, shaking away his frustration at his lack of memory.
"Right. It's not like we were close, we didn't have much time to really get to know each other before…before everything happened."
"By everything, do you refer to a war?"
Bill grinned slightly, "You catch on quick."
"I am rather observant."
"Yes," bill sighed his eyes set on the horizon once more. "we're at war."
"Not just your kind, it seems."
Bill frowned and looked at him, "What do you mean?"
"I think vampires have gotten involved in this as well. We were attacked by wizards and vampires."
Bills expression was grave, "Just what we needed. I have to alert the order."
But just as he said this there was that sound again and four bodies appeared together. Bill hurried towards his brother who clutched a weak hermione.
Edward saw the bespectacled boy as he sank to the sand along with his sister who clung to him tightly. They were dirtier than when he had last seen them and slightly bleeding, though the scent of the ocean somewhat muted it. But as the thought entered his mind he tensed as that scorching fire began from his chest all the way to his parched throat.
"Dobby!" Harry called and Edward finally noticed the third living being but didn't make a move towards the group. He was aware of everyone making their way towards the scene. Ron took Hermione into the house and his family joined Edward's side, thinking themselves strangers to these people and yet experiencing a very intimate trust towards several of them.
Edwards eyes were trained on the red haired girl but she not once glanced at him. Whether it was because she wasn't aware of them or she was avoiding him he could not be sure for he could not hear a single word coming from her mind, as though he wasn't exasperated enough by the situation.
He noticed Bill coming forth and Carlisle talked to him.
"Is there anything that we may do for them?"
Bill shook his read head, "They're going to bury him." He meant the elf, Dobby, Edward recalled his name from earlier.
There was a new tone of urgency as Bill talked now, "I must head back to my family and get them to a safe place. The Death eaters know my brother is helping Alex and Harry out. It will be a matter of time before they try to attack the rest of our family." He was about to turn but another thought creeped into his mind. "There's a forest a little ways from here, I don't think many people wander though it, we haven't any close neighbors. Please do what you need to in order to make yourselves comfortable. When I return we will discuss safe headquarters for you and your family."
"Thank you." Carlisle said, placing and appreciative hand on his shoulder. Bill nodded.
It's good to see you again Edward.
Bill disappeared before Edward could respond although he wouldn't have known what to say either way. His increasing lack of understanding was leaving him more irritated now that his initial fears were gone.
He glanced at the Potter siblings as they covered their friends body. He didn't want to leave her, didn't want to stop looking at her for the sight of her calmed the nerves he'd been experiencing all these months. He realized now that this unknown girl had been the source of his agitation and now he needed to know everything more than ever.
"It's not safe right now Edward." Carlisle quietly advised him, he'd already noticed his son's incessant stares from the moment she first appeared to them. "let's go feed son, only after can we return to better understand everything."
With a last look he reluctantly turned to leave and he was slightly glad that she hadn't spared him a single glance for it might have rendered him unable to part, if even for the slightest of moments, from her.
Alex removed her warm cardigan and helped Harry wrap Dobby's body with it. His blood stained the material and Alex watched for a moment as Harry stood up with him in his hands. Harry followed to where Bill had indicated that he could bury Dobby. But Alex remained there kneeling in her spot and staring at the waves. There were so many emotions screaming over each other but they all seemed to be stuck in her throat so that she had no way of letting out. She couldn't cry, and she wondered if she'd ever be able to cry again, maybe people could run out of tears. But not crying was ten times worse than crying without that way of exit she could only sit and try to breathe so that all that she was feeling would not choke her.
She closed her eyes and tried to take a breath, focusing on just the water and her breathing. But the images began to unfurl across her explicit mind. Frank, dead,Alice used as bait. Hermione's tortured screams, and Dobby…
"Dobby" she didn't hear her own whisper, she felt some sort of detachment and she imagined that maybe this is what happens to people that have experienced one too many things. To the people that carry their guilt the way Atlas held the world. Maybe this was the person she would be forever. Broken and defeated. That's how she felt, utterly defeated.
When it became evident that breathing and listening wouldn't do her any good her eyes snapped open and she realized that she was alone. Pain was centering on her forehead and she knew that this was Voldemort. She got up a little unsteady, it was dark now, she made her way to her brother.
Bill was coming out of the cottage fastening a traveling cloak around him.
"The Cullens have gone hunting," he informed her before she could even speak. "Alex I suggest you undo this and tell them everything that they deserve to know. I thought I'd let you take care of it but if need be then I will step in and put things right."
Alex nodded but didn't say a word. Bill reached out to place a hand on her shoulder.
"You did good today." He said gently.
"Frank is dead." She blurted unexpectedly. She gasped as though she'd said something that was news to her. But in the blur of all that had happened within the day it had been hard to completely process everything.
She felt his hand fall from her shoulder and she couldn't look him in the eye. She didn't want to think anymore, didn't want to feel anymore.
Bill walked away and she then heard a faint pop that signaled his departure.
She walked to the area where Harry stood, vigorously shoveling dirt from the ground. Without a thought she picked up another shovel and put herself to work willing herself to feel only the movements of her tired body. She didn't know for how long they worked like this but at some moment her body stopped being tired and it stopped feeling the blister forming on her scratched hands; The pain in her scar was ignored, Voldemort was ignored and her mind was finally blocked to him.
She went after everything else in some sort of a trance. She felt that detachment that she'd longed for while she put all her efforts into digging that grave. Before she knew it they were burying Dobby into the earth.
She peeked into Harry's mind and then got sucked into his line of thought as they both tried to set into order all that had been revealed that day and then it finally came to making a choice. To pursue the hallows or the horcruxes.
Harry and Alex looked at each other when Bill asked who they wanted to speak to first. Finally they both came to one choice, deciding what was the most important at the moment and thinking that they'd handle everything else later, they chose to see Griphook first.
By the time everything was over and done with night had completely fallen on them. The Cullens had returned and Alex took a breath knowing what had to be done now. She walked out of the cottage to meet them, but before she could say anything Carlisle began to talk.
"It's important that we understand what is happening around us." He told her, and she looked at him through heavy lidded eyes. "But in this moment the most important thing is for you to get some rest. You've been through a lot and you've already done so much for us by bringing Alice back. You've done enough for tonight. As your self appointed doctor I say that you need sleep to regain your energy."
"But she has to-"
Carlisle held up a hand and Rosalie stopped talking.
"There will be plenty of time for that tomorrow." he looked back at Alex with a kind gaze. "Go"
She nodded numbly, no fight was left in her now and Esme gently led her into the house where Fleur was helping them set up a place in the living room to sleep.
That night while everyone slept she and Harry lay awake.
"He's got the wand" She thought and in the darkness she saw him move his head in acceptance.
"This is going to end soon, I can feel it."
"Me too, we're so close to the end."
"It'll be next to impossible with him having the elder wand."
"We've always done the impossible haven't we?"
She smiled a little, and she felt the heaviness of sleep weighing her down.
"This is going to be on our conscience forever." Was the last thought she remembered before finally drifting into a turbulent sleep.
