Chapter 8: Archer
First day of the Dai Matou Enbu
The sun was rising above the capital city of Fiore when Lucy and Natsu woke up due to the increasing noise on the streets of Crocus. Lucy tried to get up from Natsu's lap where she slept the entire night but noticed a small package laying on her stomach. Curious, she sat up and grabbed the package.
"Huh? What's that, Luce?" her boyfriend asked.
"I don't know." the blonde answered confused. "It was suddenly there when we woke up- Wait! That's Ithildins handwriting!"
Loved child,
here is something I found on my travels. I wanted to gift it to you when you were ready, but our disappearance prevented that. It is one of seven special celestial keys that call out the ancient heroes to fight at your side. I hope it will help you on the road to take.

Lucy opened the package to find a platinum-golden key, formed like a bow and arrow.
"Thank you, Ithildin." the blonde dragon slayer smiled.
"You miss him." Natsu said.
"Yeah. I'll hope I'll see him again. And find Igneel on the way." she grinned and kissed her boyfriend on the cheek. Natsu kissed her back on the lips but then noticed something as she grinned at him again.
"Luce, your canines." he said in amazement.
"What is with them?"
"They look like fangs now! It must happened overnight. But why?"
Lucy tried to feel the outlines of her canines with her tongue and felt the difference. She was shocked but she thought of something that seemed the most reasonable answer to Natsu's question.
"Maybe the changes of ones appearance were suppressed too by Ithildins magic. So my appearance wouldn't give away that I'm a Dragon Slayer. And now that the seal is gone, the magic starts changing my body like it did with you all those years ago." she explained.
"NATSU! LUCY!" Erza's voice suddenly interrupted them from below. "Where the hell are you?"
"Comin' Erza!" Luyc shouted as they got up and jumped down on the balcony of their room.
"We need to get ready and head towards the Domus Flau." the redhead explained to them.
The two lovers didn't waste a second to get ready and follow the others to the arena. They put on their purple outfits for the tournament as they waited for them to be announced.
"Why do I have to wear this thing?" Natsu sighted.
"Master told us to wear it."
"I like mine. It looks cute." Erza said.
Gray, completely nude expect for his boxers agreed to her. "I like mine too."
"Try wearing it first." Elfman said dryly. He had jumped in for Wendy who has fallen ill with a cold over the night. The girl was devastated that she couldn't participate, but Porliusca assured her that she would be fine before the tournament would be over.
"Argh! When did that happen?"
They were interrupted by a loud gong that alerted them to get ready. The announcer's voice echoed through the stadium.
"The annual Magic Festival finally starts! The Grand Magic Games! I'm Chapati Lola here. I'll be covering today's event. We are honored to have Yazima-san, a former member of the Magic Council as our commentator. Thrilled to have you here, Yazima-san."
"The pleasure is mine."
"For day one's guest, we're also privileged to have Miss Fiore, Jenny Realight from Blue Pegasus."
"We're gonna win this year!"
"Okay... Contestants are arriving. First team ranks the 8th in the preliminary event. The hounds of hell's army, Quadro Cerberus!"
"Wild-FOUR!" The members shouted in unison.
"In the 7th place for the preliminaries, the wings that sparkle in the dark, Blue Pegasus!" Chapati announced.
"Win it, guys!" Jenny cheered as the Trimens and Ichiya together with a person in a bunny suit appeared in the stadium.
"In the sixth place is a all-female guild! The dancers in the deep ocean, Mermaid Heel!"
A team of woman walked into the stadium, causing a nosebleed by several males in the crowd.
"In fifth, goddess of love and war, the sacred destroyers, Lamia Scale!"
"Only 4th in the preliminary event? Were you holding back, you idiots?" their guild master, an old lady, exclaimed while spinning her fist furiously.
"I'm sorry, Baba-sama. Sorry for holding everyone back." a little girl with pink hair, not older than Wendy, said before she tripped over seemingly nothing.
"Kya!"
"Sherria, don't panic" Lyon said.
"Next up, in fourth place... Wow, what a surprise! A first-time guild made their way into the top four!" The song that calls the end, Requiem!"
"It's them." Lucy gritted through her teeth.
"What are they planning?" Makarov said to himself.
"Just three more teams! Coming third place... Now that is a surprise! Could their broken wings really have carried them this far?! The unbelievable, least expected... Fairy Tail B!"
The members of Fairy Tail cheered as Laxus, together with Mira, Juvia, Gajeel and Jellal, who was disguised as Mystogan, entered the stadium.
"Hah! They made it!" Natsu grinned.
Chapati spoke again, catching the crowd's attention. "Alright! Now for the second last team that made it trough the preliminary round... You know who they are! Though being second place, here they are! The strongest! The invincible! The complete dominators! SABERTOOTH!"
The crowd went wild with cheering and clapping as the members of Sabertooth entered the stadium. Walking in front of the group was a woman, wearing elegant clothes and an arrogant smirk on her face. Behind her were the two Dragon Slayers Lucy and Natsu met the day before as well as one man with a red clothes and a hat on his head and a tall man, who was pointing his fingers like a gun.
"And it seems that Sabertooth send in their strongest team! Minerva, Rufus, Orga and of course the Twin Dragons of Sabertooth! Sting and Rogue!"
Again the crowd went high with their cheering as they watched their favourite team enter the stadium.
"And now!" Chapati announced. "The final team that made it through the preliminary event! Their broken wings are carrying them on a storm to the sky! Can they reclaim the glory of the past? Contrary to their name, it's the wild, rowdy, FAIRY TAIL A!"
The crowd was shocked at this announcement and the members of Sabertooth were glaring at the members of Team Natsu entering the stadium.
Natsu nuged Lucys side suddenly and pointed up to the ranks where their guild was watching.
"Lucy, is that...?
"Huh? No way!"
On the ranks, Makarov noticed the team staring up to them and he followed their gaze to his right. To his, and the entire guilds shock, a young girl, seemingly not older than ten, was sitting on the railing cheering with them. "Hooray, hooray! Fairy Tail!"
"MASTER MAVIS?" the guild yelled.
"I'm here to cheer for you!" the ghost of their first guild master smiled.
"You came to cheer..?" Makarov asked in disbelief.
"Don't worry, only people with our crest can see me." she smiled again.
"Well, that's not a problem, but should you be here?"
"I got bored staying at Tenrou Jima forver." Mavis said happily.
Natsu and Lucy laughed down in the stadium. "We can't afford to lose with the first master watching us!" Natsu grinned.
"With all the team in the stadium, we'll now announce the program for the tournament!" Chapati announced.
A huge stone plate appeared in the middle of the stadium, the days and events carved in on the surface.
Day 1: Hidden + Battle
Day 2: ? + Battle
Day 3: ? + Battle
Day 4: ? + Tag Battle
Day Five: ?
"As far as the matches go, this is how the points will be distributed among 1st through 8th place. As the rankings fall, the amount of points decreases. For the contest part, you can select anyone from your guild to participate. For the following battle part, the organizers will pair up cards selected from the fans votes." he explained.
"They're going to match us up on their own?" Gray asked.
"So if you have bad luck, you could use up all your magic power in the contest part and end up being selected to battle." Lucy mused.
"The battle part's rules are simple. Each team will battle, like so." Chapati said as a chart with the match-up scheme explained appeared in the arena. "The winning team will receive 10 points, the losing team will receive none. If it's a draw, each team will receive 5 points. Without further ado, I bring you the Grand Magic Games' opening game! Let's begin, 'Hidden'! Each team will have 1 participant. After each team submits their player, I'll explain the rules."
"I'll go first, leave this to me!" a tall man from Quadro Cerberus said.
"Don't forget! Your soul is always..."
"WILD!"
"The first person to step into the game is Quadro Cerberus' Yeager!"
A girl with orange her and and overall stepped up for Mermaid Heel. "I'll go first, if that is okay!"
"I'll permit it." the older woman leading their team said.
"Mermaid Heel is going with Beth Vanderwood!"
Requiem's team leader looked at a man to his right. "Agent 7."
"Requiem goes with the mysterious Agent 7!"
"If it's hidden, we should send someone small who can hide easily!" Chelia said.
"No way! I'll go first!" Lyon yelled."
"Oh great..."
"Lamia Scale is going with Lyon Vastia!"
From the Trimens, Eve stepped up. "I'll go!"
"Eve! Eve!" his team chanted.
Blue Pegasus has selected Eve Tilm! Who will go for Sabertooth?"
"I'll go." the man with the hat, Rufus, said. "The birds are singing a sweet song today."
They entered the arena and the audience dropped their mouths as an entire city was projected in the arena with duplicates of all members who were participating.
After being attack by Agent 7 and losing points Gray walked around the illusionary town to search for his opponents when he was suddenly attacked by Beth with her 'Carrot Missle' attack. She missed him, but before any of them could do something, Beth was hit by a attack from below her. Yeager hit her but revealed himself to Leon this way who hit him with his own attack, gaining one point for his team. Before Leon could start an attack towards Grey, Juvia jumped down on him, knocking him out. The two friends stared at each other, ready to fight for their respective teams, as they were both hit by a dark-grey chain, which belonged to Agent 7. The mages fought each other in the town before they suddenly noticed a figure standing above them on a rooftop.
"That's...?"
"This challenge is far to simple." Rufus said with a smug smile. "I remember perfectly... the nuances of your movements... your footsteps... your magical presences' signature..."
"What is he doing up there?!" Lucy shouted.
"Gray, above you!"
"I remember... I remember it all... Memory Make: Hoshi Furu Yoru ni (Memory Make: Into a Night of Falling Stars)!" he chanted, hitting all contestants with his magic, despite Agent 7, who in return tried to attack Rufus but was fooled by an after image of Rufus, that the Memory-mage had created with his magic.
"And that's the end of it!" Chapati announced a few minutes later. "This is just the first event, so these rankings can still change at any time."

"The first battle in the Grand Magic Games will be between Fairy Tail B's Mystogan and Blue Pegasus's Ren Akatsuki!" Jenny announced.
"It's Jellal!" Erza said excited and with a light blush on her face. "He is going to win for sure."
The battle didn't took long, as Ren was quickly overpowered by Mystogan. Makarov watched in amazement at Jellal's display of power. 'He definitely was worth the title of a Wizard Saint he held in the past.' the old man thought.
"The winner of the first battle is Fairy Tail B's Mystogan! Requiem gets 10 points! Blue Pegasus gets 0 points!" Chapatic exclaimed.
"I knew it!" Erza said happily.
"Why so happy Erza?" Lucy asked with a smirk.
"It's n-nothing." the redhead blushed.
"The next match is between Lamia Scale's Yuka Suzuki and Mermaid Heel's Ariana Web!" Chapati announced.
The match continued for some time longer than the first one, but Yuka managed to overpower Ariana in the last minute before the countdown for the match was over.
"Ten points for Lamia Scale! Mermaid Heel get's 0 points."
"You are the bitch who attacked my men, aren't you?" Reaper asked.
"Why don't you come and find out?" Lucy shot back.
"Oh, I will. Black Tornado!" he shouted creating a black tornado towards Lucy, using a scythe that suddenly had appeared in his hands.
Lucy dodged the attack at grabbed on of her keys. "Gate of the lion, gate of the maiden, I open thee! Leo! Virgo!" she shouted as she summoned the two spirits.
"My princess."
"Princess, is it time for punishment?"
"Leo, Virgo! Help me attack this guy."
"As you wish, princess."
Loki jumped at the man, his fist shining with the light of Regulus as Virgo disappeared under the ground. The man saw that and jumped into the air to avoid Virgo's attack. He used the momentum to dropkick Leo back to the ground and fire an attack and Virgo, who was still beneath him. "Thunder Overcast!" he shouted, firing a black tornado and lightnings on the maiden spirit. Virgo wasn't able to dodge in time and was hit full on with the attack.
"Virgo!" Lucy cried as her friend disappeared into the spirit world. She grabbed another key. "Gate of the bull, I open thee! Taurus!" she shouted. The perverse bull appeared and swung his axe immediately at Lucy's opponent. "Mooo! I will protect your beautiful body, Lucy-sama!"
The man used a whirl of wind to block Tauru's axe and propelled himself towards Loki. "Lightning Rays!" he shouted as he crashed down the lion spirit. Leo disappeared too and the man immediately turned around and hit Taurus with his scythe, causing the bull to go back to the spirit world too.
"Leo! Taurus!" Lucy cried.
"What's up pretty-face?" the man laughed. "Your spirits don't hold a chance against my storm magic! Go back home, weakling!"
'Dammit!' Lucy thought. 'I want to use as less Dragon Slayer Magic as possible. But who can I-'
She stooped in her thoughts as she remembered the key her foster-father gave her.
"I know we don't have a contact yet, but please! I need your help!" she said as she grabbed the key. "Gate of the Great Archer, I open thee! Gilgamesh!" she cried.
A golden light appeared in the arena and a young man in a golden armor appeared in it. He had blonde hair and wore golden earrings. His red eyes told that he was very confident of himself.
"You called for my assistance, my princess?" he asked.
"Yes, please! I need you to help me fight this man over there. I'm sorry, I don't know what your capable off, so please do what you can!"
"It is fine, my princess. The king of heroes shall help thy in this dire situation."
Golden orbs appeared above him, swords or similar weapons protruding from each. "Gaze upon my treasures, mongrel. For it will be the last thing thy shall see. O no Zaiho: Geto obu Babiron (Treasure of the King: Gate of Babylon)."
He fired the weapons on his opponent like arrows and the man had difficulties to dodge them all as he was cut once or twice. Gilgamesh didn't even twitch at the other mans actions.
"You keep running and jumping like a mad rabbit. Maybe I should open the gate further?" he stated as more golden orbs appeared above him and began to unleash a storm of weapons on the Requiem soldier. He continued to dodge the attacks and even managed to grab one of the swords to use it with his scythe to block other incoming projectiles. Albeit being able to dodge the attacks he seemingly began to slow down as his stamina came to an end and he was hit by a wave of weapons from the gate and broke down to the ground where the spirit continued to attack him.
"Enough, Gilgamesh!" Lucy said. "Don't kill him."
"As you wish, princess." the spirit said.
"Stupid bitch." the man coughed as he jumped into the air and unleashed a attack on Lucy. "Thunder Overcast!"
Gilgamesh turned around but it was too late as he wasnt able to reach Lucy before the attack hit her.
"LUCY!" her friends shouted.
"Don't worry. She has something stashed for an attack like this." Stella said confidently, albeit being worried about the condition of her best friend.
"What a stupid whore. To let her guard down like this." the man laughed. But then the dust in the arena laid down and revealed an unharmed Lucy standing next to Gilgamesh.
"What on Earthland-?" he cried. "How can you be unharmed?"
"Lucy..." Master said.
"Seishinryu no Uroko (Star Dragon's Scales)." the blonde said. "I'm sorry master, I promised not to reveal it so soon."
"You-?"
"Gilgamesh! I will finish this, you can go back. I'll call you later to make an official contract." Lucy smiled at him.
"Princess." the spirit said with a bow before he disappeared into the spirit world.
"Seishinryu no Hoko (Star Dragon's Roar)!" Lucy shouted as soon as Gilgamesh was back in the spirit world. As soon as she released the magic, she felt that something was different and as the powerful roar shot from her mouth she knew why. The roar had changed its color and was now a blue-white color and surrounded by a golden spiral of magic energy.
"Reaper is down!" Chapati shouted. "Oh my! Now that is a shock! Lucy Heartfilia of Fairy Tail strikes an incredible victory by revealing that she is a Dragon Slayer as well! Fairy Tail A gets 10 points! Requiem gets 0 points! What an amazing comeback for the guild that was called the strongest in Fiore seven years ago!"
Lucy walked back to her friends, exhausted after opening so much gates and using her Dragon Slayer magic. On her way, she heard Chapati announcing the stand after the first day.
"Alright, after the wonderful battles we have seen today this are the final standings for today:
1. Sabertooth (20pt.)
2. Lamia Scale (16pt.)
Tail B (11pt.)
Tail A (10pt.)
5. Requiem (8pt.)
6. Blue Pegasus (4pt.)
7. Mermaid Heel (3pt.)

"Luce!" her secret boyfriend shouted as he saw her coming around the corner. "That was amazing! I knew you would kick this guy's ass.!" he grinned.
"Thank you, Natsu." the blonde smiled. "He was a good opponent, but I didn't notice anything off about him." she said towards Erza.
"It's to soon." the redhead answered. "I'm sure they don't want to raise suspicion so soon. For now, let's concentrate on the games."
"Yeah!"
"I'm all fired up!"
"You are always fired up, Natsu."
