Imagine this. Foxface didn't eat the berries laid out by peeta. She made it to the final 4. Cato died, and She became the final 3 with Katniss and Peeta. Peeta too weak to fight, Katniss unwilling, and Foxface too weak, what would happen to the games?
DISTRICT 5! I am going home and then I can start avoiding the topic of the Hunger Games as much as possible. I miss my best friend Alisa and I miss the old lady mentor Abigail and I miss being myself with Emily and Gideon and I miss my town and my home. I can't wait. I'm out of bed, showered and dressed in less than 10 minutes and wandering in the Dining Cart for breakfast. Gideon is asleep with his face on the table whilst Joy reads and book. Katniss and Peeta are sat on the loveseat watching a recap of the District 12 speeches. They must want to be at home. I'm glad we did District 12 before 5 because I don't think I would be able to leave after that. I pull from that train of thought- its only one extra day- and get a pile of pancakes. A recurring breakfast, but I'm going to miss the Capitol pancakes. All of the food actually. I guess I'll miss Katniss and Peeta and Haymitch too. But the food is good.
Twenty minutes later my stylist Cailynn and the prep team are working their magic. Both us girls apparently have midnight blue dresses- mine is a straight, tight dress with a silver belt at the ribs and Katniss has a puffy princess dress in the same colour- whilst peeta is in a blue suit. I'm so excited. The only part I'm dreading is having to talk about Cameron. I have avoided his family as much as possible since I returned home from the games. I walked past groups of his angry friends when I first returned home and I know lots of them will be at the party tonight so I'm going to have to face them finally. I spend the next hour drifting in and out of reality whilst Cailynn helps me get ready. When she finally stands back, I have to admit that this is the best I've looked. The dress clings to the curves in my small frame and the style of my hair makes it look less hideous than usual. The makeup brings out my hazel eyes and my skin is shimmering as I move. Cailynn is smiling as me. I lean across and hug her, careful not to smudge any makeup and try to convey everything i'm feeling in the hug. She has looked after me and styled me all this time. When I next see her, she will be styling the tributes that get reaped for the next games. She pulls away when the train stops at the station. She wipes the tear off my cheek and one off hers too. She pats me gently and leaves the room. I take a second to collect myself and then leave too. I'm going back home.
The crowds at District 5 are pleased to see me. The strength of their voices shocks me. I smile and wave at them all, blowing kisses to Alisa and Abigail who are standing together near the entrance of the train station. I realise I've forgotten about Katniss and Peeta who look slightly uneasy so I pull them forward to join me. They quickly get into the spirit of things and are soon waving at the crowds of people too. The mayor greets us and then bundles the 8 of us- me, Katniss, Peeta, Haymitch, Gideon, Emily, Effie and Joy- into a car to get to the Justice Building.
The speech passes without any hiccups. Katniss and Peeta mostly let me do the talking as it's my district. I talk briefly about Cameron too. He was the only person to have died in the bloodbath who had already killed someone (A/N: According to Wikipedia) and his odds were 8-1 at the start of the games. People in my District thought he had a good chance, a better chance than me even though I'm a year older than him. I tell his family- two older sisters, a younger brother and his mum- a story about how we laughed a lot on the train on the first night and he ended up hiccupping for about 2 hours, which makes his family smile. He was a good person and I think we'd have been friends if the circumstances were different. Katniss and Peeta make short speeches, I see a final goodbye and we are taken to get ready for the party.
I very quickly get absorbed into my district when the party starts. I spend a solid minuite hugging Abigail and then Alisa when I see them. I dance traditional District 5 dances with everyone and I tell some of the younger kids to go and teach them to Katniss and Peeta too. We all end up having a big dance off. I spend some of the evening exchanging stories about Cameron with his family. They tell me stories of when he was younger and I tell them about how much we laughed in the week leading up to the games. They leave when his younger brother gets tired, but they first make me promise to come and visit them. His older sisters hug me as they leave, and I think that over time we'll become good friends.
The energy and spirit of my District lasts long into the night, only ending when Effie insists that she must get Katniss and Peeta home. We exchange hugs and promise to keep in touch. I really will miss them, but we'll see each other in the Capitol for the Quarter Quell in a few months where we will all be mentoring together. Shortly after they leave, Joy finds me and tells me she needs to leave as well, but she trusts I can find my way home. The party finally ends at 4am, and I head back to Victors Village with Gideon, Emily and Abigail. We part ways and I head to take a shower to wash off as much of the Capitol as possible. I finally fall into bed at 5am- my sleep schedule is forever ruined by this tour- and manage to fall asleep in my own comfy bed.
I am home
