I lied in my last chapter. I'm not an evil writer. I'm a sucky writer. So I was rereading the entire story. I made Silica… kinda a crybaby. And then … yea. Idk.

Too late now to fix it, but still.

Also, 2 months. 2 MONTHS! fuck me

Cosmos-I'm glad you think I have good drama, I do my best. And yes. All in all, cliffhangers are probably the most fun things. :D I hope this helped do it justice, though it's not done yet.

Guest- Here's your continuation :D

Gadget Boy- I plan happy endings,,,, usually. So you'll just have to see.

Guest- While I respect your opinion as your opinion, I don't appreciate it as it does nothing to help me. People who know me know I'm doing ff for practice to head to real writing. So I KNOW I need improvement, but if I only get 'mediocre' as a criticism. It's not helpful

I stayed in bed tired and sniffed, taking in the dead scent of the softness residing in my arms. I nuzzled my face in closer, trying to take in every emotional comfort possible, one I knew wouldn't last. One leg wrapped around the bottom, I clutched the solace to my body, its pseudo warmth reflecting back to me.

I took another deep inhale of the fabric and decided to open my eyes, my temporary satisfaction smashed as I stared at the pillow I was wrapped around. Doesn't even smell like him…

No longer feeling anything for the pillow, as awkward as it is to think that way, I tossed it aside and got up. My best friend was stirred by my movement and awoke as well, staring at me with innocent query and a light, "Kyu?"

Giving him a weak smile, I patted his head before leaning him and kissing his feathers. "You'll always be there for me, won't you Pina?"

"Kyu?" That's what I thought.

Slightly cheered up, I looked around, considering the preparations of going out today, while the idea of Pina responding in my own language, possibly with a deep english accent, made me laugh.

That was until I, you know, looked down at the ring still on my finger. Something I couldn't bear taking off. Day two.

It was the second day after Kirito had left to fight on the front lines.

Two Days Ago

"What do you mean, The Beater?" I looked at him wide-eyed but nonetheless, confused.

"The reason the front liners… don't enjoy my presence, is because I'm The Beater. The only one who claimed the title of someone who cheated the way through the game and got a head start." His pause indicated that 'enjoying his presence' was an enormous downplay of their actual feelings, but I didn't say anything.

"... But why?" I whispered, trying to figure him out. I… I loved this boy. But… What do I actually know about him. I was so sure he was a good person. I was so sure he was someone I could admire."

"I had to. That's it. Someone had to do it, might as well be me." He shrugged, making his confession seem too open, too exposed.

"What do you mean you Had to?" A spark ignited within me, remembering all those who died in the game so far, one or two before my very eyes. "You didn't Have to. No one Had to!"

"I did. Someone did. It was the only way-"

"Only way to what!?" My indignation rose at his words, unable to comprehend this mindset he had going.

He coughed, ignoring my interruption. "It was the only way to bring the beta testers and the new players together."

"..." What? Now thoroughly puzzled, I raised an eyebrow and pulled my head backwards. "Cheating… was the only way to bring them… together?"

Now looking at me like I was crazy, or at least extremely mistaken, he shook his head solemnly and re-explained. "No no no. You see, to bring them together I had to CLAIM that I was a beater. That way they would all have someone to unite against, you know, the scapegoat."

"..." Slightly less lost, I looked at him incredulously, amazed at what I just heard, having to confirm it. "So," I started, bringing up a finger and pointing towards him. "Not a cheater?" He shook his head. "But still a beta tester?" *Nod* I took a moment, dropping my hand to my lap, playing with the edge of my skirt. He lied to them… I… see. "So you threw yourself under the proverbial bus?" *Nod* "In order to bring all the other players together?" *Nod* "And now everyone hates you?" *Sad nod* "I see… And you are leaving me because…" I swallowed hard, realizing those words ACTUALLY just came out of my mouth. My chest throbbed harshly.

"Because they will hate you too." He answered with a sense of finality.

Present

Stepping outside the inn I had free room and board in, I was immediately hounded on by a group of players I had 'promised' to party with today. More like reluctantly accepted.

We walked through the town towards the teleport gate, my one condition to partying being that we work on higher floors than I used to. They had looked at me skeptically then shrugged it off and were all for it, 'We'll protect Silica-chan from the evil monsters!'

That was rewarded with a resounding, 'YEA!' from the rest of the party.

Now, after a toss filled and presence-lacking sleep after sitting in my room most of the day yesterday, I was being paraded around town while the men in my group smiled in triumph. Looking at my compatriots, I internally cringed, Some of these guys are too old for this to not be… And that one's look in his eyes… I didn't want to judge them by their looks, but I couldn't help but notice how much it looked like they played too many videogames.

Trying to avert my gaze, I thought about how weird it was, being put off by the same treatment that I used to love. I was always 'Lovely Super Idol Silica.' I had fans on every middle floor and a plethora of people lining up to party with me.

But now… There was only one face I had wanted to see. One person's hand I wanted to have tugging on my sleeve; I looked to the side towards the slightly overweight player who was tugging on my shirt and pointing towards a few people pointing my way. "Ehehe…" I laughed nervously, shying away from his touch while throwing a tiny wave to whoever.

Oh Kirito-kun… where are you?

In case you didn't know, Lovely Super Idol is Silica's character song for SAO. look it up. All the character songs are really good, but hers is one of the more popular ones I think. My favorite is the Sugu one though. Closely followed by this one
