Return to the first, most precious danger: that which becomes beloved before you know why.
There was a strange sort of anticipation to be had -following a lost god through the winding hallways of this place that was now her home. Theirs. Exploring this space that was foreign and magic and so solidly built on centuries of tradition that it felt like it belonged in her bones.
And yet this anticipation was not anxiety -it was eagerness. It was curiosity.
Her Dragon had promised her wonders beyond her imagining -and she ached for those things in the deepest part of her soul. Ached for something that would separate her from her own mortality -from herself. And everything that meant.
They passed by people who walked softly through the hallways -cleaning, moving things. The estate in muted uproar for reasons she knew not -but The Dragon led her past the silent chaos without a thought, belaying her curiosity.
He was leading her somewhere.
"My Lord," came a quiet voice -one she vaguely remembered to belong to the caretaker of this place, calling from just beyond a rice paper door. "We have a guest."
"Then our timing is impeccable. Your mistress requires suitable attire for a visit."
Note: So I finally went out and spent the money to get myself a new laptop. :D Its a touch screen and everything, but it means that now, for the first time in more than a year, I have a reliable computer on which to write. And so, here is a new chapter to celebrate! I want to thank everyone who has been so patiently waiting for me to update on anything at all -you guys rock. Ive received so many inspirational messages, letting me know that you are still reading and still waiting on me. I teared up. Really, it was beautiful. I'm touched. Thanks for Being Rad.
