To Shawn's relief, Lindsey unpacked everything. Over lunch, she mentioned that she had applied to a job in Santa Barbara. Henry looked absolutely delighted at the news.

"What kind of job?"

"I'm a psychiatrist. It's a job at a state psychiatric hospital."

"You went to medical school?" Shawn sounded surprised.

"Yeah... I finished high school online after I turned eighteen, then did an accelerated program."

Shawn saw the sadness flash across Henry's face for a moment, "Sorry we missed the graduation..." he muttered a bit sarcastically.

Lindsey looked down and mumbled an apology. Shawn gave Henry an angry look across the table. He was afraid that Henry would scare Lindsey away, and that they might not see her for another fifteen years, or maybe never again.

"Hey Linds, can you give me your phone number?" Shawn asked. He figured that if she left, he could at least get in touch with her.

"Yeah," she gave it to him and he typed it into his phone.

Henry took a calming breath, "So when do you find out about this new job?"

"I go for the interview next week. It's actually a second interview; we did the first one over the phone."

"Great! Well you can stay here as long as you like. If you get the job you can live here if you want," Henry knew that he was being a little bit pushy, but he had been heartbroken when his daughter disappeared. He just wanted her to stay with him.

After lunch, Lindsey insisted on helping clean up, even though Henry told her that she could go relax and he'd take care of it. When they were done cleaning up, she went into the living room and sat down next to Shawn.

"So, you're a psychic now?" she said with a grin. She was teasing him.

"As a matter of fact, yes," he said, and posed with his hand to his head for her.

She laughed, "Yeah, right."

Henry laughed, "She's got your number, Shawn." He sat down on the other side of Lindsey and put an arm around her shoulders. "So kiddo, any plans this week?"

Lindsey shook her head, "I was just hoping to spend some time with you two. Maybe give mom a call."

"I called her after right after Shawn told me you were here. I'm sure she'd love to hear from you."

Lindsey leaned her head against her dad's shoulder. Shawn saw his dad smile widely; he'd never gotten along with his dad, but he was really happy to see him with Lindsey again. Lindsey and Henry had always been close. She actually liked hearing about Henry's work, unlike Shawn. Plus, although he'd probably deny it, Henry was just different with his daughter. It was probably more of a sexist thing than anything else, but he'd always been more affectionate toward her.

Henry grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. He settled on Law and Order: SVU. Shawn and Henry were both detectives, so neither of them missed the way that Lindsey tensed when they showed the rape victim, or the fact that she quickly made an excuse and hurried outside.

"Oh god," Shawn said in realization. He looked to his father, who obviously had made the same deduction. Henry actually looked like he might be sick. Shawn hesitated for a few moments before following her outside.

He sat down next to her on the porch. "Who hurt you?" he asked.

"I don't want to talk about it Shawn."

"We could get him locked up..."

"No. Then I'd have to testify."

"We could video tape your testimony if we had to," Henry was now standing behind them with his arms folded. His body language clearly showed that he was barely containing his anger.

Lindsey shook her head.

"Let's go for a walk, Linds," Shawn tried.

"Ok," she sniffled a little, but stood up and walked toward the beach with Shawn.

He put an arm around her shoulders as they walked.

"You can tell me anything, you know."

"I don't want to talk about this."

They walked around for a little while, but Shawn didn't get much out of her. When they got back to the house, Lassiter was there. Henry was already filing a report.

"Dad! I told you that I didn't want to do this!" Lindsey was practically in tears.

"How about you and detective Lassiter talk? Shawn and I will wait outside," Henry suggested.

Shawn didn't like it, but he followed his dad outside.

"Dad! You have to stop this! You're going to make her leave again!"

"What if she runs into this guy somewhere? She'll talk off and never come back again! He should be locked up!"

The two men yelled at each other while Lindsey and Lassiter talked. Finally, Lassiter walked outside to talk to them.

"Henry. Do you know a man named Larry Burke?" Lassiter asked. Henry froze.

"Your partner?" Shawn asked in shock.

"I'm going to kill him!" Henry exclaimed, surely loud enough for Lindsey to hear inside. Lassiter quickly grabbed his arm.

"I'll go pick him up. Stay here." He pulled Henry back away from the porch stairs, "Go talk to your daughter, she's upset."

Henry hesitated, but Shawn rushed inside to be by his sister's side.
