His Favorite Star
Boom Town
Chapter 4

It was a quiet day in the TARDIS. The two siblings and their flirty companion, working on the mechanics in the old machine. The youngest of the siblings was under the console fixing a bug in the navigation system, while the dark haired attractive companion was over her waiting for her to request a tool or for her to ask for a towel to clean her glasses from the dark liquid, she calls TARDIS blood, smearing onto the lenses from her hands. Her brother was on a ladder fixing a light in the side of the TARDIS' wall. They were in Cardiff, Wales, refueling the blue box on a rift in time and space. It was all silent and peaceful until there was a knock at the door. Jack looked at the door confused and went to open it.

"Who are you?" he asked, as Star was getting out from under the console. Her white tank top mid drift dirtied with dark blue stains. She leans up on her elbow to see the door. She sees a flash of blonde and groans loudly. "I've come to see the Doctor. Who the hell are you?" a voice was heard from the barrier of the door. Jack must have seen the blonde head because; his flirt was turned on a minute later. "Captain Jack Harkness. And I'm much more fun than the Doctor…" he said to the blonde head. "JACK! GET YOUR BLOODY HUMAN TAIL IN HERE!" Star yelled and he immediately turned and let the two other humans through the door of the TARDIS. To which, Doctor has nearly fallen off of the ladder from trying to get off too quickly. He nearly tackles the blonde human happily, like a child would their best friend, who returned from a long trip. "ROSE!" he exclaimed, while getting a few weird looks from Jack. "Don't tell me. This must be Rose." Jack said with a look to Star, who stood up getting from under the console. "Here comes the Doctor's little girlfriend. He has a thing for blondes." Star said not even looking in Rose's direction. "Don't listen to her; she's just winding you up." Doctor said giving Rose another hug, as Star climbs the ladder to finish what her brother started. "Aw, sweet, look at these two. How come I never get any of that?" Jack asked looking to Star.

"Buy me a drink first."

"You're such hard work."

"But worth it!" Star said tying her fiery red hair back into a ponytail, leaving her bangs to hang over her left eye. Jack smirked at the ginger he loved, rolling his eyes at her smart mouth. "How'd you manage to find us?" Doctor asked. "Well Mickey hacked into street video cameras and well a blue box isn't very hard to miss." Rose said with a smile and she pulls out her pass port "I want to go with you."

"Why do you have a passport?! You don't need a bloody passport on other planets Blondie! That's the bloody dumbest thing I've ever heard!" Star ranted from the other side of the room. "But what if we end up in Brazil? I might need it. You see, I'm prepared for anything!" Rose said as a dark skinned man in a large dark coat walks in looking a little bit discouraged. "Sounds like you're staying then." He said. "Hello Rickey!" Doctor said politely. "It's Mickey! What are you all doing in Cardiff? And who the hell's Jumping Jack Flash? I mean, I don't mind you hanging out with big ears, here—"

"OI!"

"Look in the mirror!" Mickey narrowly escaped being hit with Star's wrench she was working with. "OI! NO BLOODY HUMANS ALLOWED TO SAY THAT ABOUT MY BIG BROTHER!" She got a glare from Doctor, Rose and Jack. "What?! Only I'M allowed to call you big eared!" she stated like she did nothing wrong. Mickey looked back to Rose, still slightly shaky from getting a large heavy piece of metal thrown at him.

"But… This guy, I don't know, he's kind of—"

"Handsome?" Jack intervened.

"More like cheesy." Mickey said dryly. Jack looked slightly put off from the comment, so he looked at Star questioningly. "Early 21st Century slang. Is cheesy good or bad?" He asked, watching as she climbed down the ladder walking over to them. "It's bad, Jack." She said taking his hand and leaning on the console. He looks down at her and smirks. "But bad means good, isn't that right?" the captain asked. "Are you saying I'm not handsome?"Doctor asked giving Star the most insulted look ever. "We just stopped off. We need to refuel. The thing is, Cardiff's got this rift running through the middle of the city. It's invisible, but it's like an earthquake fault between different dimensions." Star explained, to the two confused humans in front of them, ignoring her brother's look. "The rift was healed back in 1869." Doctor explained further, quickly easing the human's startled faces "Thanks to a girl named Gwyneth, because these creatures called the Gelth, they were using the rift as a gateway but she saved the world and it closed."

"But closing a rift always leaves a scar, and that generates energy, harmless to the human race-" Jack started to explain, but Doctor jumped in to finish. "But perfect for the TARDIS, so just park it here for a couple of days right on top of the scar and-"

"Basically how you fill a car with petrol and off we go!" Star explained, knowing all that information was going over the humans head. "Into time!" Jack started. "AND SPACE!" Doctor and Star finished, laughing a little. Rose laughed as well because of their silliness. Mickey was not amused, though. "My God, have you seen yourselves? You all think you're so clever don't you?" he asked. The three looked at each other and smiled a big smile.

"Yeah."

"Yeah."

"Yep!"

"Should take another 24 hours, which means we've got time to kill. Star go get dressed in something warmer, and we'll go out somewhere." Doctor said sending his sister off. Star smiles and goes back into the hall way to her room coming back out a moment later with black ripped skinny jeans, a black tank top, a black over coat that went down to her knees, and black army boots. She gives Jack a big brown jacket and makes him put it on, which was comical, since he was so much bigger than her. She made him put a scarf and gloves on and ear muffs as well. Doctor and Rose just giggled at the sight of his little sister dressing a grown man, like she was his mother. Mickey was already outside waiting, when they all finally get out of the TARDIS. "That old lady's staring." Mickey said cautiously, standing beside Rose, as Doctor locked the blue box up. "Probably wondering what 5 people could do inside a small wooden box." Jack said, making Star giggle and slip her hand into his.

"What are you captain of, the Innuendo Squad?" Mickey retorted. Jack made a hand gesture and Star stuck her tongue out at him. The group starts to walk away from Mickey and the TARDIS. "Wait, the TARDIS, we can't just leave it. Doesn't it get noticed?" Mickey asked them with a worried tone. Jack looked down at Star curious of the same. "Yeah, what's with the police box? Why does it look like that?" Jack asked the ginger. She and her brother explained that it was called a chameleon circuit and it changes a TARDIS to blend in with its surroundings, but that their chameleon circuit was stuck when they traveled to the 1960's. Then they had to explain that police boxes were real, and they were used to phone for help or as a small prison until an actual police got there.

"Why don't you just fix the circuit?" Jack asked. "Doctor won't let me, but I like it, don't you?" Star asked with a big smile. "I love it." Rose piped in. "But that's what I meant. There are no police boxes anymore, so doesn't it get noticed?" Mickey pointed out.

"Rickey, yeah? Let me tell you something I've learned about the human race. Their bloody thick! You put a mysterious blue box slap bang in the bloody middle of town, what do they do? They bloody walk past it! Now, stop your bloody nagging! Let's go and explore!" Star said with a big smile bouncing up and down, looking like an energetic child. "What's the plan?" Rose asks with an excited smile. "I don't know. Cardiff, early twenty first century and the wind's coming from the east. Trust me. Safest place in the universe." Doctor said, as Star face palms, as they all start to walk off again. "Stop bloody saying that! Whenever you say that, something threatens the human race's very bloody existence!" Star said walking beside Jack.

Later in the day, after a confrontation with Star's stomach, they all went to a restaurant, and had a meal. Now they were just sitting around letting Jack tell stories about his adventures. "I swear, 6 feet tall and with big tusks!" Jack said making Star laugh. "You're bloody lying through your teeth Jack!" Star said, trying not to die from laughing along with the rest of the group. "I mean, it turns out the white things are tusks and I mean TUSKS! And it's woken, and it's NOT happy!" Jack said through his laughing. "How could you not know it was there?" Doctor asked with disbelief in his voice. "And we're standing there, fifteen of us, naked-" Jack started. "Naked?!" Star exclaimed, her cheeks becoming a lighter shade than her hair from the lack of air she was getting. "And I'm like, oh, no, no, it's got nothing to do with me. And then it roars, and we are running. Oh my God, we are running! And Brakovitch falls, so I turn to him and I say-"

"I knew we should've turned left!" Mickey said, making the table laugh. "That's my line!" Jack said in mock offense. "I don't believe you! I don't believe a word you say ever! That is so brilliant!" Star laughed. "Did you ever get your clothes back?" Rose asked, breathless. The Doctor stops laughing when he sees a news paper a man was reading. Doctor gets up, getting Stars attention, while the rest of them continue talking. She watched him take the paper from the man looking at the front page with a frown. "And I was having such a nice day." He muttered to himself. Star walks over and sees the picture of the mayor on the front cover and also frowns. "See this is what happens when you say some where's the safest place on Earth!" Star said giving the news paper back to the man.

The group all paid the bill and they all marched into the City Hall foyer, while they all look to Jack for the plan. "According to intelligence, the target is the last surviving member of the Slitheen family, a criminal sent from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorious, masquerading as a human being, zipped inside a skin suit. Okay, plan of attack; we assume a basic fifty seven fifty six strategy, covering all available exits on the ground floor. Doctor and Star, you both go face to face. That'll designate Exit One, I'll cover Exit Two. Rose, your Exit Three. Mickey Smith, you take Exit Four. Have you got that?" Jack said and both time lords gave him a weird expression. "Excuse me. Who's in charge?" Doctor asked, challenging Jacks authority. "Sorry. Awaiting orders, sir." Jack said, backing down quickly. "Right, here's the plan…" Doctor paused to think of a better plan. After about 10 seconds Star intervenes. "Like he said. Nice plan. Anything else?" Star said looking to Jack. "Present arms" Jack said as they all pulled out a mobile phone. Except for Star, she started to arm a pistol out and looked at the rest of them. "What? He said present arms…" she shrugged. "What have I told you about guns?!" Doctor said bluntly taking it from her and putting it back in her holster. "D-Does she normally carry those?" Rose quietly asked Jack, only to receive a nod.

"Okay, ready!" Jack said looking at the rest of the group who agreed and closed their phones. Jack gives Star a kiss on the cheek and winks turning away.

"See you in hell." He said running
off.

The Doctor and his sister walk into an expensive looking office, where a male secretary was typing away on his computer. "Hello, we've come to see the Lord Mayor." Doctor said politely, while Star started looking around the room. "Have you got an appointment?" the secretary asked glancing at the girl in black, who turned to him with a sweet smile. "Oh no, just a pair of old friends passing through. Wanted to give her a bit of a surprise. I personally can't wait to see her face!" Star said with a childish giggle. "Well, she's just having a cup of tea." The man at the desk said. "Listen, just go in there and tell her the Doctor and his sister would like to see her. 'Kay?" Star asked as politely as she could.

"Doctor who?" he asked.

"Just the Doctor. Tell her exactly that. The Doctor and his sister." Doctor instructed. The secretary nods and gets up going into the door. "Hang a tick" He said before he entered. A few moments later they hear a tea cup clatter to the floor. Star lifts her hand and without even having to look, Doctor gives her a high five. They both smirk knowingly, only having to give one another a glance, before Star goes to the window and giggles. The secretary comes back into the room, looking quite flustered. "The Lord Mayor says thank you for popping by. She'd love to have a chat, but, er, she's up to her eyes in paperwork. Perhaps if you could make an appointment for next week?" he said nervously. Star strode over to them and smirked with an amused glint in her emerald eyes. She pushes up her glasses giving Doctor a gesture towards the window.

"She's climbing out of the window, isn't she?" Doctor asked knowingly.

"Yes, she is." And that was the last the secretary said before Star pushed past him.

"Slitheen heading north!" Doctor said into his mobile.

"On my way." From Rose.

"Over and out." From Jack.

"Oh my God." Obviously from Mickey.

But while Star was chasing the Mayor down the ladder she was climbing down, Rose runs into a clerk carrying a pile of papers, Jack leaps over a tea trolley, and Mickey was being Mickey. Margaret reaches the bottom of the ladder and takes off her brooch. She starts to run but sees Rose coming towards her and snarls removing her right earring. Then Jack comes running from the opposite direction, running into Star, sweeping her off her feet. The Doctor finishes with the secretary and sees her running in the only available direction - across the front of the building.

"Margret!" Doctor calls, with amusement lacing his voice. The Doctor gets down the ladder as Margaret removes her other earring and puts it with the first and the brooch. The chase is on. "Who's on Exit 4?!" Jack said, with Star in his arms. He puts her down as soon as the Doctor gets beside them, giving them a 'big-brother-will-kill-you' look. "That was Mickey!" Rose said. Mickey popped up beside of them. "Here I am!" he said, thinking someone called him. "Mickey the idiot!" both Doctor and Star said at the same time. "Oh, be fair. She's not exactly going to outrun us, is she?" Rose said, watching the plump woman trying to run as fast as she can. And then she vanishes. "She's got a teleport! That's cheating! Now we're never going to get her!" Jack said disappointedly. "Oh hush you; Doctor's very good at teleports." Star said with a proud smile. The Doctor holds up his sonic screwdriver and Margaret reappears, running towards them. She tries to escape again, only to return closer than she was. She didn't stop until she was right in front of the group, out of breath. She leans over to catch her breath.

"I could do this all day." Doctor said, smiling cheekily at the woman. "This is persecution! Why can't you leave me alone? What did I ever do to you?" Margret asks breathlessly. "You tried to kill my sister and destroy this entire planet." Doctor stated bluntly. "Apart from that." She said.

The group returned to the city hall where they were taken into the conference room where there was a model in the middle of the large oak table and a big banner that says Blaidd Drwg. But that's not what Star notices first, oh no, she noticed the food and went straight to it, taking a sandwich and starts to eat. "Star! Stop stuffing your face!" Doctor said agitatedly. "Buh i's fuud!" She said through a mouth filled with sandwich. Jack and Doctor roll their eyes and continue on with what they are doing.

"So you're a Slitheen, you're on Earth, you're trapped. Your family get killed but you teleport out just in the nick of time. You have no means of escape. What do you do? You build a nuclear power station. But what for?" Doctor questions harshly. "A philanthropic gesture. I've learnt the error of my ways." Margret says getting a full out laugh from Star.

"And it just so happens to be right on top of the rift?" Star said swallowing the last of her little snack. Margret looked at her like the ginger just grew another head. "What rift would that be?" Margret asked feigning innocence. "A rift in space and time. If this power station went into meltdown, the entire planet would go-" Jack heard Star interrupt to make a noise that ended in an explosion. She smiles a sheepish smile that makes Jack roll his eyes playfully. The younger ginger notes how Mickey was struggling to keep up with the thought process of the strange group. "This station is designed to explode the minute it reaches capacity." Doctor said running a hand over his face with a stressed look. "Didn't anyone notice? Isn't there someone in London checking this sort of stuff?" Rose chirped, surprising them all. "We're in Cardiff! London doesn't care! The South Wales coast could fall into the sea and they wouldn't notice..." Margret said getting a disturbed look on her face "Oh. I sound like a Welshman. God help me, I've gone native." Star watched as the older woman put her face in her hands, and the ginger smiled in amusement. "But why would she do that? A great big explosion, she'd only end up killing herself." Mickey piped in with the surprisingly good question. "She's got a name you know." Margret mumbled in an annoyed manor. "She's not even a she, she's a thing!" Mickey retorted. "Oh, but she's clever." Doctor said getting a questioning look from the humans in the room. Star nods, watching as the Doctor pull the middle section out of the model and turns it over to reveal electronics.

"FANTASTIC!" Doctor and Star blurt at the same time. Star bounced over to the tech like it was the best Christmas present ever and began to poke around at it. Jack's face merely mimicked Stars as he grabs the board from Doctor and nearly bouncing up and down. "Is this a tribophysical waveform macro-kinetic extrapolator?" Jack asked like a child, receiving a nod from Star as she excitedly squeals. "Couldn't have put it better myself." Doctor said watching Star poke around the board happily. "Doctor! This is pure genius!" Star said holding back the squeals from erupting. "You didn't build this?" Jack stated more than asked, to Margret. "I have my hobbies. A little tinkering." Margret replied trying to sound modest. "Uuh ha ha yeah that's funny." Star stated sarcastically "You DID NOT build this! It's way beyond you." Star continued to examine it after Jack set it back down on the table. "I bet she stole it." Mickey piped in. "It fell into my hands." Margret said defensively. "Is it a weapon?" Rose asked.

"Its transport. You see, if that reactor blew, the rift opens. Bloody phenomenal cosmic disaster. But this thing is brilliant! It shrouds you in a force field. See, you have this energy bubble, so you're safe, then you feed it coordinates, stand on top, and ride the concussion all the way out of the solar system. And I've never had one before! I've wanted one since I was about 300 years old!" Star said giving them all a big childish smile. "It's a surfboard!" Mickey exclaimed, finally understanding. "A pan-dimensional surfboard, yeah." Jack corrected getting a giddy look from his little ginger. "And it would've worked too! I'd have surfed away from this dead end dump and back to civilization!" Margret said glaring at the pair of Time Lords. "You'd blow up a whole planet just to get a lift?" Mickey summed up astonished. "Like stepping on an ant hill." Margret said giving him a disgusted glare. Doctor nudges his sister pulling her attention away from the new toy she was examining and notices what he was looking at. He just noticed the Blaidd Drwg banner and she walked a little closer beside her brother, giving him an unsure look. "Doctor, isn't that…" Star started unsurely.

"How'd you think of the name?" Doctor asked Margret while continuing to look at the sign. The rest of the group occupying the room just gave each other confused looks. "What, Blaidd Drwg? It's Welsh." She answered simply. "Yeah we know that you wanker! But how did you think of it, is what he means." Star explains, a little ruder than intended. "I chose it at random, that's all. It just sounded good, does it matter?" Margret asked, utterly confused.

"Blaidd Drwg." Doctor muttered thoughtfully.

"What's it mean?" Rose spoke up.

"Bad Wolf." Star said only giving her a mere glance before giving her brother a look. "Yeah that's all over the place in graffiti, just some kids." Mickey said, not understanding where they're getting at. Star rolls her eyes and pushes her glasses up from the bridge of her nose. "Not the way we've been seeing it… We have seen it everywhere we go… LITERALLY…" she said turning back beside the Doctor "But how could it be following us, Doctor?" She watches his face turn from serious thought to a playful smile. "Nah, just a coincidence. Like hearing a word on the radio then hearing it all day. Never mind. Things to do. Margaret, we're going to take you home." He said with a smile. That only made Star worry more for what her brother was thinking. "Hold on, isn't that the easy option, like letting her go?" Jack said in disbelief. "Not on Raxa… uhm… Raxacor…" Star began and looked at her brother as if asking for help to pronounce the word.

" Raxacoricofallapatorius" He said slowly.

"R-Raxacorico…"

"Fallapatorious."

"Raxacoricofallapatorius. Wow… I haven't said that in a long time!" Star said with a big smile. She takes the extrapolator and carries it to the door. "They have the death penalty. The family Slitheen was tried in its absence many years ago and found guilty with no chance of appeal. According to the statutes of government, the moment I return, I am to be executed. What do you make of that, Doctor? Take me home and you take me to my death." Margaret said in a sour voice. Star gave her a dry scoff and said "Well that's not my bloody problem!"

By the time they all got back to the TARDIS it was night time. They were all just sitting around the inside. Star and Jack tinkering with their new toy, hooking it into the TARDIS console and what not, while flirting, Rose was watching Doctor go around the console making sure everything was working properly, Mickey was standing by the door and Margaret was in Stars usual seat in awe of the inside of the ship. "This ship is impossible. It's superb. How do you get the outside around the inside?" Margaret said looking around the console at the siblings. Star gave her a humorless chuckle and Doctor merely said "Like I'd give you the secret, yeah." Margaret straightened herself and smoothed out her coat. She gave the pair an unsettlingly calm smile. "I almost feel better about being defeated. I never stood a chance. This is the technology of the Gods." She said with another glance around the large inside of the ship. That gave both siblings a grim expression. "Don't worship us- We'd make very bad Gods…" Star said with a dark tone lining her voice. "We wouldn't get a day off, for starters." Doctor said and notices Jack starting to lean down to give Stars forehead a kiss, and interrupts like we all know a big brother would. "Jack, how we doing big fella?" Jack pulled away giving her a small apologetic smile, then looks to the Doctor. "The extrapolator's top of the range. Where'd you get it?" he asked Margaret. The older human woman gives him a shrug. "Oh, I don't know. Some airlock sale?" she said as if she was unsure herself where the thing came from. Star turns and givers the woman an unbelieving look. "Must've been a great big heist, then. It's stacked with power." The small ginger said with a smile. "But can we use it for fuel, Star?" asked her older brother. "Well… It's not really compatible, BUT it should knock off about oh… ten maybe twelve hours…." She estimated. "We'll be ready to go by morning, Doctor." Jack stated, with a smile. "Then we're stuck here overnight." Doctor said with a sigh. He runs his hands over his face. "I'm in no hurry." Margaret chirped, sitting again. "You've got a prisoner. The police box is really a police box." Rose piped up.

"You're not just police, though. Since you're taking me to my death that makes you my executioners. Each and every one of you." Margaret said in a dark voice with a humorless smile.

"Well you deserve it!" Mickey stated bluntly.

"You're very quick to say so. You're very quick to soak your hands in my blood, which makes you better than me, how, exactly? Long night ahead. Let's see who can look me in the eye." Margaret challenged. Everyone but Star averted their eyes from the woman challenging their consciences. "Oh, the eyes of the heartless are green then." Margaret said, so everyone looked at Stars cold expression. "I have the blood of many on my hands… What's one more soul for me to bear?" she said in a low voice, getting back to work on the extrapolator. Every one stayed silent after that. After a few minutes of awkward silence, Mickey steps outside the blue box, Rose following a few minutes later. Star steps beside her brother, who's watching the pair on the monitor. She hugs his arm and nuzzles her cheek into his sleeve. He looks down at her and puts his other hand on her head in a loss for how to comfort his sibling. Jack looks up from his work for a moment and then back down. "So, what's on?" he asks, trying to lighten the gloomy mood a little bit. Doctor immediately turns the monitor off and gently unattached Star from his arm. "Nothing, just—"

"I gather it's not always like this, having to wait." Margaret stated, getting the groups attention "I bet you're always the first to leave, Doctor. Never mind the consequences, off you two go. You butchered my family and then ran for the stars, am I right? But not this time. At last you both have consequences. How does it feel?"

"Shut your bloody mouth, bitch! You don't know what we've been through!" Star all but yelled, furiously. She started in the direction of the elder looking woman but Jack caught her arm, holding her back, albeit difficultly. "Don't answer back. That's what she wants, Star!" Jack said holding her by her arms making her calm down.

"I didn't butcher them. What about you? You had an emergency teleport. You didn't zap them to safety, did you?" Doctor's deep voice came from the other side of the console. "It only carries one. I had to fly without coordinates. I ended up on a skip in the Isle of Dogs." The Doctor and Jack both snicker, but Stars face stays in its upset stony expression as she worked on the console picking up a wrench to work with. "It wasn't funny." Margaret protested. "Sorry. It's a bit funny." Doctor said trying to hold back his laughter. After a few moments they grew silent again.

"Do I get a last request?" Margaret asked. Her voice was beginning to grate on Stars last nerves. "Depends on what it is." Star said with an even voice, even though her anger was bubbling underneath. "I grew quite fond of my little human life. All those rituals. The brushing of the teeth, and the complicated way they cook things. There's a little restaurant just round the Bay. It became quite a favorite of mine." Margaret said with a depressed air to her voice. "Is that what you want, a last meal?" Doctor asked with disbelief lacing his voice. "Don't I have rights?" Margaret countered. "Oh, like she's not going to try to escape." Jack protested. "Except I can never escape the Doctor or his little pet, so where's the danger? I wonder if either of you could do it? To sit with a creature you're about to kill and take supper. How strong are your stomachs?" Margaret challenged, mainly looking at Star with a smirk. Star just glares back at the woman with stone cold green eyes."Strong enough" Doctor said monotonously. "More than strong enough to withstand worse than that." Star stated in a low and hostile voice. "I wonder. I've seen you fight your enemies, now dine with them." Margaret gave her an evil glare. "You won't change our minds." Doctor said with a protective warning glance to Margaret.

"Prove it little girl." Margaret challenged the ginger. Star slammed down her wrench on the console startling the other beings in the room. "There are people out there! If you slip away just for one bloody second, they'll be in danger!" Star yelled balling her hands into fists by her side. "Except I've got these!" Jack said holding up two silver bracelets. Star turned to look at him with an expression that says 'What the bloody hell are you doing!? Why are you helping her?!' Jack puts one on Doctor and one on Margaret. "You both wear one. If she moves more than ten feet away, she gets zapped by ten thousand volts." Jack said giving Star a reassuring smile. Star just sits at her chair and puts her head on the console, trying to ward off an oncoming head ache from how loud the drums are getting in her head. She waited until Doctor and Margaret have left to stand.

"Jack I'm going to go take a nap, alright?" Star says rubbing her already slightly messy ginger hair. "Want me to take one with you beautiful?" he said with a flirty smile. Star gave him a quiet giggle but shakes her head. "No, I want to be able to actually sleep this time Jack…" she said with amusement. "I thought Time Lords didn't sleep." Jack said watching her go up the stairs. "We don't sleep OFTEN." She said stopping at the top of the stairs. "Just don't bow a whole in the universe alright Jack?" she said giving him a sleepy smile. "No promises alright. I will try not to do it…" he said with his signature smile. She smiles back and heads down the corridor, straight to her room, and lays down hoping the pain of the drums will leave her soon.

A few hours of sleep! That's all she got! A few hours. That is until the whole TARDIS started shaking! She ran out of her room in only her pajamas, panicking, finding Jack trying to stabilize the extrapolator. The moment she got down the stairs the Doctor and Margaret burst through the door. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" Star and Doctor both yelled at the same time. "It just went crazy! I swear!" Jack said defensively. Star and Doctor immediately go to the console. "It's the rift. Time and space are ripping apart!" Doctor cried. "Doctor! The whole city's going to disappear!" Star yelled from the other side of the console. At that moment Rose runs into the TARDIS. "It's the extrapolator. I've disconnected it but it's still feeding off the engine! It's using the TARDIS! I can't stop it!" Jack yelled. "Never mind Cardiff, it's going to rip open the planet!" Star said panicking."What is it? What's happening?" Rose asked starting to panic as well. "Oh, just little me." They all turn to see Margaret's real arm, that's green and longer than any humans arm, grab Rose around the throat "One wrong move and she snaps like a promise." Margaret snarled. "I might have known." Doctor said giving Margaret a hostile look. "I've had you bleating all night, poor baby, now shut it!" Margaret snaps. "You, fly boy, put the extrapolator at my feet." Her arm tightens around Rose's neck, and Doctor's face gets a look of slight panic. Star gives a great sigh and nods. Jack obeys, but begrudgingly.

"Thank you. Just as I planned." Margaret says. "I thought you needed to blow up the nuclear power station." Rose struggles to say. "Failing that, if I were to be arrested, then anyone capable of tracking me down would have considerable technology of their own. Therefore, they would be captivated by the extrapolator. Especially a magpie mind like yours and your pet, Doctor. So the extrapolator was programmed to go to plan B. To lock onto the nearest alien power source and open the rift. And what a power source it found. I'm back on schedule, thanks to you." Margaret chuckled evilly. "The rifts going to convulse. You'll destroy the whole planet." Jack yells. "And you with it!" Margaret laughs and stands on the extrapolator. "While I ride this board over the crest of the inferno all the way to freedom. Stand back, boys. Surf's up." No one notices that Star has started to mess with the console, when suddenly the side of the console cracked open and a bright light hits Margaret. "Of course you do know opening the rift means you'll pull this ship apart too." Star says like she's not panicking. "So, sue me." Margaret says with a shrug. "What's that light?"

"The heart of the TARDIS."Doctor said with a knowing smile.

"You'd never know it but this ship is alive!" Star said with pride in her voice.

"It's so bright." Margaret says in awe of it.

"Look at it, Margaret." Doctor says.

"Beautiful." Is all that Margaret is able to say.

Margaret relaxes and Rose gets free. Then she looks up at the Doctor then to Star, smiling.

"Thank you."

Margaret says before disappears into the light. The empty bodysuit crumples onto the extrapolator. "Stay back! Close your eyes!" Star said loudly. She closes the console and starts running around the console. "Now, Jack, come on, shut it all down! Shut down!" Star commands. "Rose, that panel over there, turn all the switches to the right." Doctor tells her. Energy stops falling from the sky and they all take a deep breath. Star give Rose a smirk. "Nicely done." She says to the other girl. "Thank you, all." Doctor says putting one hand on Stars head and the other on Roses shoulder. "What happened to Margaret?" Rose asked. "Must've got burnt up. Carried out her own death sentence." Jack offered. "No, I don't think she's dead." Doctor says with a smile. "Then where'd she go?" Rose asks.

"She looked into the heart of the TARDIS. Even Doctor doesn't know how strong that is." Star explained. "And the ship is telepathic, like you will know later I guess, Rose. Gets inside your head and translates alien languages." The ginger said thoughtfully, leaning on the console. "Maybe the raw energy can translate all sorts of thoughts." Doctor said leaning down and searching through Margaret's old body suit. Star leans to see what he's doing but smirks when he holds an egg up out of the body suit. "Here she is!" Doctor said with a smile on his face. "She's an egg?" Rose asked slightly astonished. "Regressed to her childhood." Doctor explained patiently. "She's an egg?" Jack questioned. "She can start again. Live her life from scratch. If we take her home, give her to a different family, tell them to bring her up properly, she might be all right!" Star further explained to help the humans imagine the situation. Jack takes his spot next to Star and gives her a skeptical face. "Or she might be worse." He grumbles. "That's her choice." Star argues. "You didn't really want to kill her did you?" Jack asks quietly. "….. Would you want the weight of a thousand on your shoulders… I never really wanted to kill any one Jack… But my choice was taken from me… and now I have a chance to right my wrongs and try to save more than I have killed." Star says somberly. Suddenly though, Rose runs out of the TARDIS, getting a few questioning glances from Jack and Star. Star walks right outside of the ship to see if the blonde human will come back. 'Well if I get to have Jack to keep me company, then Doctor should have someone too…' she thought to herself as she put her jacket on. Star sees Rose coming back and the smaller girl gives the human a kind smile, one that she hasn't given in a long time.

"You can come with us you know? I actually wouldn't mind having another girl around to talk to." Star says trying, oh so hard, to be nice to the human in front of her, then quickly adds "I mean if that's alright with you."

"Yeah, fine." Rose says quietly. Star can see she's being split between her home and the universe, which Star herself understands all too well. "Do you… want to go find, uhm, Mickey was it?" Star asks, thinking it would give the girl more comfort to travel with them . "No, its fine, he's gone." Rose says, and Star gets the message, inviting her into the TARDIS. "We're all powered up. We can leave. Opening the rift filled us up with energy. We can go, if that's all right." Doctor says, thinking Star was the only one coming in. "Off we go, then. Always moving on, I guess, Doctor." Star said with a shy smile as Rose comes in. "Next stop, Raxacoricofallapatorius." Jack says with a smirk "Now you don't often get to say that." Star giggles at Jack and shakes her head going to the monitor of the console.

"We'll just stop by and pop her in the hatchery. Margaret the Slitheen can live her life again. A second chance." Star says, smiling at Doctor "That'd be nice."
