Chapter 12 Morning
Erza, Mira, Levy, Lisanna, and Lucy were sound asleep in Lucy's room. Someone silently opened the door and slipped inside. The person slowly approached the bed stepping around the girls on the ground. The person leaned over until their mouth was right next to Lucy's ear.
"WAKE UP!" D shouted into her cousin's ear before yanking her covers off. Lucy shrieked before falling off her bed. D took a step back to avoid getting hit. While Lucy sputtered and tried to regain her senses, D turned on the lights.
"What the hell, D?!" Lucy yelled. D ignored her and began ripping the blankets off the remaining four girls.
"Rise and shine, Ladies!" D commanded. The girls woke with a start when their blankets were taken. One girl though, didn't so much as flinch.
"Why's it so cold?!" Lucy cried wrapping her arms around herself for warmth. Indeed. It was extremely cold in the apartment. D had turned the air conditioning on to help her wake the five girls up. Erza looked around while she shivered. She was confused. One moment, she was warm and dreaming about strawberry cake, the next she was cold and awake. Mira and Levy had similar things running through their minds as they looked around in confusion. Erza caught sight of Lucy's electronic clock. Her eyes widened at the time. Lisanna, by the way, hadn't even twitched. She was still asleep. D left her alone.
"It's four o'clock in the morning!" Erza exclaimed.
"What?!" Lucy, Mira, and Levy shouted turning to D.
"Yep," she began, "It's four. Now get up. You have thirty minutes to get ready."
"You woke us up at four in the morning?" Levy asked incredulously. D nodded.
"Thirty minutes," she repeated before turning to leave the room.
"W-wait!" Mira called. D looked at her over her shoulder. "Don't you think it's kind of early? Shouldn't we get some more sleep first?" D glared at her.
"I'm sorry," she hissed venomously. "I thought you wanted to join me in my morning exercises to get stronger. Was I wrong?" Mira and Levy gulped.
"No," Erza answered for them. "You're not wrong. We're sorry. We're imposing on you, yet we're complaining. This is fine. We'll be ready in thirty minutes." Mira and Levy nodded. D smiled.
"You had twenty-nine minutes left," was all she said before closing the door behind her.
Twenty minutes later found the five girls sitting at the table with a small breakfast of eggs, sausage and toast. Lucy, remembering yesterday's exercise, wasn't eating much.
"D," Erza began. Said girl looked up. "I haven't said anything, but I can no longer stay silent."
"What is it now, Miss President?" D asked. Erza stood.
"Do not play dumb!" she shouted in her commanding tone. "Why are these two still here?!" Indeed, Sting and Rouge were also at the table.
"They were here all night," D answered. "They joined me in my Bruce Willis Movie Marathon." Sting yawned. Lucy looked at the three suspiciously. Even Rouge seemed a little out of it.
"Did you guys sleep?" she asked accusingly.
"Nope," they answered together. Lucy turned on D.
"Why didn't you sleep?" she yelled. "Do you even know how scary you get when you're tired?!" D plugged her ears in annoyance. "Don't ignore me!"
"I slept a lot yesterday, so I'm not tired," D responded. "Now be quiet and eat. Lucy grumbled as she attacked her food with her fork. Mira, who was sitting next to Lucy, nudged the girl with her elbow. Lucy stopped her grumbling to look at her.
"Ne, Lucy," she began. "What do you mean when you say D gets scary when she's tired?" Lucy sighed as everyone looked at her curious about the answer. D simply smirked and kept eating.
"D has times when she gets into a bad mood. I call it her DTTM or 'Don't Talk To Me' mode. There are many versions of it. You saw on the day before yesterday, right? Her DTTM mode: morning version. It's one of the worse. D is always tired in the morning so I call it morning version. There's also tired version, but it's a lot worse than morning. You were lucky you got to see a calmer version." Lucy explained.
"What do you mean calmer?" Erza asked. She remembered D's morning version. She had seemed to be pretty grumpy. Lucy looked at her.
"I mean there's DTTM mode: morning version, then there's DTTM mode: morning version. Do you remember when she told Gajeel to move? If it was the latter instead of the former, she might have thrown him out the window instead of simply moving him herself," Lucy answered. Everyone stared at her in disbelief until they heard D giggle. They turned to see D laughing calmly while looking at Lucy.
"I wouldn't do that," she denied. Everyone sighed in relief. "I probably would have just slammed his head into the desk until he was bleeding and unconscious." D had a sweet smile on her face and her voice was dripping with honey. "With all that metal in his face it would probably only take one hit." Everyone froze in terror. That's when they decided that Lucy's right. D is scary.
"I'm going to pretend I didn't just hear that," Lucy muttered turning back to her food.
"Me too," Sting agreed doing the same. Rouge nodded then stared at his empty plate before reaching for more food.
"It would have been better to be thrown out the window," Erza commented. Mira and Levy nodded.
"Miss President," D called from her position by the wall. Once again, D was holding a test. Everyone was hiding in the shadow of the building D entered last time. Erza looked at D from her position. "I need you to lead me to every science classroom in this building.
"Why? You're not going to do something like yesterday are you?" Erza accused. D glared at her.
"No," she hissed. "I'm just seeing how many teachers locked their chemical cabinets. D let them to the door she and Lucy had entered last time. It was locked. "Good, it's locked."
"How do you plan to get inside then?" Sting asked.
"Why are you here?" Lucy retorted. Sting glared at her.
"Shut it blondie," he snapped.
"You're blond too, genius," Lucy sneered. D grabbed the blonds and cracked their heads together.
"Silence," she demanded. "And you," she pointed at Lucy, "you've been around me way too long." D reached into her pocket and pulled out, what appeared to be, two metal sticks. Realization hit Lucy immediately.
"No," she rejected. "You are not picking-" Click! D had ignored Lucy in favor of picking the lock. She put the sticks away as Lucy whisper-yelled: "Listen when people are talking!"
"Let's go," D stated ignoring her cousin. Levy, Rouge, Mira, Sting, Lucy and Erza followed D silently through the school. They went to the same class D made the stink bombs in and pulled on the doors. They were unlocked. "UGH! Does this teacher have a death wish?!" D stood with her head in her hands in frustration.
"Don't do anything that will result in the evacuation of the entire school," Lucy quoted. D looked at her and smiled.
"Makarov did say that, didn't he? Which means I have permission to do something," D realized with an evil grin. Suddenly her grin turned into a glare directed at everyone. "All of you get out." Everyone hurried out of the room.
"What is she doing in there?" Erza asked.
"Who knows?" Lucy shrugged.
"Wait a minute," Sting began. "You mean D's the one who set off the stink bombs yesterday?" Everyone nodded at him.
"I hope she's not doing something like that again," Mira commented. Everyone opened the door and rushed inside the room.
"I'm not making any bombs," D stated from where she had just finished writing on the board. It read:
LOCK UP THE CHEMICAL CABINET!
"Next room please," D asked with a smile. They left with no one noticing the bubbling flask on the teacher's desk. Erza took D to every science room in the school and the girl was left alone in each one for a few minutes. Some classes got "GOOD JOB!" written on the board while others got the same message as the first room. Once they had visited every room D turned to the group and smiled.
"Now that your food has had time to digest, let's get to the gym!" she exclaimed.
"Wait…you mean you made us come along so there'd be time for our food to digest?" Levy asked. D nodded.
"Smart girl," she commented.
"Why does it matter if our food has digested?" Sting asked.
"So you don't throw up," D answered with an evil grin. Everyone shivered before following her as she headed for the gym.
"I am so sorry," Levy apologized as she and Lucy showered after D's evil exercises. Mira and Erza had already finished.
"Sorry for what?" Lucy wondered.
"Not taking your warning seriously," Levy elaborated. Lucy laughed and flinched.
"She had no mercy today what-so-ever," Lucy muttered with a dark aura surrounding her.
"HURRY UP!" D suddenly shouted. "We still have to go back to the room to get ready for school!" The girls shut up and continued to bath in silence.
"I can't believe you!" Lisanna shouted. D plugged both her ears with her index fingers. "How could you leave me here?!" D, Levy, Mira, Erza, and Lucy had just gotten back to the room to find Lisanna still asleep in Lucy's room. "I can't believe you forgot me!"
"I didn't forget you," D corrected. "You simply didn't wake up. They forgot you." D pointed at the girls changing their clothes. "I can't believe Ms Roommate forgot her own sister." That's when Lisanna rounded on Mira.
"How could you forget me, Mira-nee?" Lisanna cried.
"I'm sorry, Lisanna," Mira apologized. "It was just so early and I was tired. Besides, you should count yourself lucky." Levy and Lucy nodded.
"Yeah, I mean just look at us," Levy began. "We can barely move we're so sore.
"That exercise was just horrible," Lucy continued. D scoffed.
"You big babies," she insulted. "After I went and cut back my exercise by two hours, you're still complaining." The girls froze.
"Cut back?" Erza questioned. D nodded.
"By two hours?" Mira asked.
"You've got to be kidding me," Levy whispered.
"YOU FREAKING MONSTER!" Lucy yelled. "There's no way you're human! That's just not normal!"
"I know I'm not normal. That's why I took time to think of easy exercises that you could do," D replied. The girls stared at her in shock.
Easy… they thought. Lisanna looked from them to D and back again.
"Ne, exactly what kind of exercises did you do?" she wondered aloud.
"Nothing too bad," D answered. The girls balked at that. "We danced to wake up, went for a short jog, did push-ups, chin-ups, and other basic exercises, lifted weights, did knee-highs around the track and did some yoga to cool down." The girls were all giving D strange looks. "What?"
"That doesn't sound too bad," Lisanna pointed out. "What are you guys complaining about?" Now that they thought about it, the girls realized the exercises they did were pretty simple. It was just that D made them do them to excess. D left the room.
"You don't understand," Levy began in a panic. "She-"
"Lisanna," Lucy began cutting her off. She grabbed Lisanna by the shoulders. "We started with Zumba. That lasted about twenty minutes. Then we did two laps around the outside of the gym. (Did I mention they gym is huge? It could fit a football field + bleachers.) The basic exercises and weight lifting were normal, but they were done a million times. Then we did five laps of knee highs around the track. DO YOU UNDERSTAND OUR SUFFERING NOW?!" Lucy had gotten closer with everything she listed and basically shouted the last part in the frightened girls face. Lisanna looked at the four girls and cried:
"I am so sorry I questioned you!" Lucy let the girl go and continued to get ready.
"So long as you understand, its okay," she stated. Lisanna sighed in relief. She didn't want anyone mad at her, especially Erza. Suddenly, D peaked her head through the door.
"Not that I care, but you guys do realize if you don't hurry up you'll be late, right?" she asked. The girls turned to the clock and nearly had a heart attack. It was seven! Class started in twenty minutes! The girls finished getting ready in record time and ran for their classes, Lucy dragging D along. The girls barely made it to class on time.
