Sorry this took so long. I had actually typed it up a while ago but my computer deleted it before I could post it causing me to have to re-type it….annoying isn't it? Anyway, here's the next chapter. I'm so happy I decided to break up the chapters!

Chapter 13: Head Injuries

"What's wrong with you guys?" Gajeel asked once first period was over.

"I am so sore," Levy complained. The three girls where sitting with their heads on the desks.

"I can't believe D does things worse than that every morning," Lucy stated. The other three nodded in agreement.

"Who said I do it every morning?" D interjected. The four sat up and looked at her. "I don't have time to do it every morning. I have to work, you know."

"Really?" Erza asked. "You work?"

"Yes. Let's go," D answered grabbing Lucy and basically fleeing the room.

"Fast," Gajeel stated.

"She ran away," Mira noted.

"Work might be a taboo subject for her," Levy offered.

"Why would it be taboo?" Erza wondered.

"I don't know, but let's not mention it again," Levy suggested. Mira and Erza nodded in agreement. Gajeel grinned and took out his phone.

"Geehee, this just makes me want to know even more," he stated while messaging someone.

"What are you doing?" Levy asked.

"I'm telling Laxus to find out what D's job is," he explained.

"Didn't we just say not to mention it?!" Erza growled.

"I'm not mentioning. Laxus is mentioning it," Gajeel defended.

"Smart ass," Levy declared.

"Geehee."

"Yo!" Laxus greeted D and Lucy when he got to class.

"Hi!" Lucy greeted back.

"Hey," D yawned. She took a sip from the soda perched on her desk.

"Hey D, can I ask you something?"

"You just did," D retorted. Laxus stared at her. "However, you may ask something else." Laxus smiled and opened his mouth to ask when D spoke again. "But, if it's about my job, I'll hit you." Laxus immediately closed his mouth. He thought for a moment. D was just a girl, right? But she's strong enough to beat up Sting. Then again…so is he…Dah well…he'll take his chances.

"What is your job?" he finally asked. D twitched while Lucy gave him an 'Are You Crazy' look. Laxus gave her a look that clearly said 'What?' D slowly stood up and leaned towards Laxus. She gently placed a hand on the back of his neck and Laxus froze. D moved so her face was an inch away from his. To everyone watching, it looked like she was about to kiss him.

"I warned you," she whispered.

Bam! D slammed Laxus' head into her desk. She had somehow managed to catch her drink before it spilled.

"What was that for?!" Laxus yelled jumping to his feet while holding his head. D sat back down.

"I said I'd hit you, did I not?" D answered in a snarky voice.

"But you didn't hit me, you slammed my head into the desk!" Laxus accused. D thought for a moment before proceeding to smack Laxus upside the head.

"Hey!" Laxus exclaimed. D smirked.

"There, now I've hit you," she stated. Laxus glared at her.

"I don't understand why you won't tell me," Laxus muttered. "Do you do something so embarrassing you want to die?"

Smack! D hit Laxus again.

"What was that for?!" he yelled.

"It was for saying something stupid, but I guess you can know," D replied. Laxus smiled. He waited until it became apparent that D wasn't going to continue.

"So, what do you do?" he inquired.

"Ask Miss President's roommate's sister," D said. Laxus blinked. You could basically hear the gears turning in his head.

"You mean Lisanna?" he asked.

"Yeah…I think that was her name," D responded. Lucy looked dumbfounded.

"You can remember that she's the president's roommate's sister, but can't remember her name?!" Lucy exclaimed. D glared at her.

"You know how I am with names, woman!" D snapped. Just then the bell rang. "Time for class."

"Grandson," D called. Laxus turned around. "Tell the sister-"

"Lisanna!" Lucy snapped. D ignored her.

"-that, if you tell anyone after she tells you, that she'll be banned," she continued. D and Lucy then headed for Aquatics.

"Why would you do that?" Lucy asked.

"It's a test," D replied. "I want to see how trustworthy the person closest to our secret is." Lucy was confused.

"How is he closest?" she asked.

"His grandfather might accidentally let something slip," D stated. Lucy looked shocked.

"You don't trust the Master?" she asked. D looked at her.

"I trust that he's the kind to talk to himself," she began. "I also trust Grandson to be nosy." Lucy blinked.

"Oh~" she sighed. "You think Laxus might overhear Master talking to himself." D nodded. Lucy blinked as realization hit her. "That'd be bad! What if he tells everyone?" Lucy was panicking. D sighed.

"Calm down, would you? This is why I'm testing him," D explained. "If the sister trusts him and he keeps his mouth shut, then he passes. Then I'll personally tell him everything." Lucy gulped.

"Everything?" she asked. D nodded.

"Everything," she confirmed. Lucy looked down. The two girls walked to their next class in silence.

Lucy was upset. Why did D get to sit out class, for no reason other than simply because she wanted to, when Lucy couldn't even though she was in pain?

"It's just not fair, I tell you!" Lucy complained from her spot next to Natsu. The two had paired up to do a weird dance-like thing where the boys had to lift the girls out of the water and spin in a circle while holding them up. Natsu and Lucy were waiting for their turn.

"What's not fair?" Natsu asked. Lucy looked at him before pointing at D who was lying down on the bleachers.

"Why doesn't she have to do this?" she vented. Natsu smiled.

"Who knows? Maybe Aquarius likes her," Natsu suggested. Lucy huffed.

"That's favoritism! She can't do that!" she complained. She paused a moment. "Can she?"

"Natsu! Lucy! You're up!" Aquarius shouted. Natsu put his hands on Lucy's bare waist, causing the girl to blush, before whispering his answer in her ear.

"Looks like she can." He lifted her out of the water.

When class was over, Lucy approached her cousin with a beet-red face.

"D-Dee (I wrote it like this so you could see how Lucy called her)…time for lunch," she called. D didn't respond, nor did she move. Realization slowly came over Lucy and she shrieked in terror. Natsu rushed over to her.

"What's wrong?" he asked. Lucy was shaking in fear.

"D's sleeping," she whispered. Natsu stared at her for a moment before laughing.

"So wake her up," he suggested. Lucy glared at him.

"I'd rather not die, thanks," she retorted. Natsu looked confused.

"Die?" he wondered. Lucy rolled her eyes.

"She'd kill me if I woke her up," she elaborated.

"Oh," was all Natsu said. Suddenly, Gray came over fully clothed (for once).

"What's taking you so long, fire breath?" he asked. Natsu glared at him before an idea came to mind.

"Wake D up, would you?" he asked. Gray turned to D.

"Are you craz-mmf!" Lucy's panicked cry was blocked by Natsu's hand.

"Shh!" he hushed her. Gray turned back around.

"Sure, if either of you did it, you'd get her wet, right?" he agreed. Natsu nodded. Gray made his way over to the sleeping girl. Lucy's muffled pleas for him to stop were ignored. Natsu simply grinned. He thought something funny was going to happen. Gray reached a hand out to tap D's face to wake her up but, before he could touch her, the girl's hand suddenly shot up and grabbed his wrist.

"What the-, you're already awa-," Gray's statement was cut off when D suddenly sat up and slammed his head into the steel bleachers. Gray slumped to the ground unconscious. His head was bleeding. D stood up. Natsu looked outraged.

"What the hell's your problem?" he yelled finally releasing Lucy who once released grabbed his arm.

"Idiot! Don't move!" she hissed. Natsu gave her a confused look.

"But she just-" he began to protesting in a softer voice.

"She's still sleeping," Lucy stated. Natsu looked back at D in shock. Sure enough, D was swaying on her feet and her head was lolled to the side. "She gets like this when someone besides me and a few other people try to touch her in her sleep. It's a defense mechanism because she gets attacked a lot. Unfortunately, she's not as good at holding back when she's like this." Lucy gestured to Gray's still bleeding head.

"Why would people attack her?" Natsu asked. Lucy just gave him a look with a hand on her hip. Natsu thought about his question for a moment. "Ah…you're right…stupid question." Lucy nodded.

"I'll try to wake her up," she whispered. Lucy then slowly approached D. Natsu watched worriedly. When Lucy was directly next to the girl, she slowly reached for the girl's ear. D didn't move. Lucy's hand felt the headphone and pulled it away from D's ear slowly before leaning her mouth close to the girl's ear. "WAKE UP!" she screamed before jumping as far away as possible just in time to dodge D's hand which flew up to hit her. D then stretched with a yawn.

"Hmm?" she wondered looking around. She looked from Lucy, to Natsu, to Gray. Her eyes landed on the small amount of blood coming from Gray's head. "Did I do that?" D asked using her best Urkel impression while pointing at Gray. Lucy almost fell over while Natsu burst out laughing.

"Of course it was you!" Lucy shouted. D shrugged and walked over to Gray before picking him up and throwing him over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

"Which way to the Nurses office?" she asked Natsu.

"Follow me," Natsu offered turning on his heel. He grabbed his towel and wrapped it around himself before leading the way out of the pool area. Lucy also grabbed her towel and wrapped it around herself. As she and D followed him, Lucy found herself staring at Natsu. The boy looked like he had just stepped out of the shower. It was hot. Wait, what?

"What happened to him?" Polyusica, the school nurse, asked with a scowl on her face.

"He fell," D stated with a straight face. Natsu and Lucy fell over in shock. Polyusica stared at them quizzically.

"DON'T LIE! You slammed his head into the bleachers in your sleep!" Lucy cried suddenly back on her feet.

"Oh, so that's what happened. I thought I tripped him," she responded. Lucy face-palmed.

"So it's your fault," Polyusica stated. "This is why I hate humans." The three teenagers stared at her.

"You're human too, you know," Lucy deadpanned.

"SOMETHING WRONG WITH A HUMAN HATING HUMANS?" Polyusica yelled. Natsu and Lucy retreated to the door.

"Of course not," D answered. "Humans are simple and stupidly predictable. It's a wonder how we stand ourselves, let alone each other." Polyusica blinked before nodding.

"That is true. They are stupid, annoying and extremely fragile both mentally and physically," she agreed.

"Speaking of fragile, can you patch up this guy's head?" D asked, poking Gray's prone form which was lying on the bed in the nurse's station. Gray was slightly paler than usual. There was a giant gash across his forehead.

"Okay, GET OUT YOU FILTHY HUMANS!" Polyusica demanded. Natsu and Lucy quickly left while D walked calmly after them.
