CHAPTER Two
Kagami's POV
Using his own body alarm, Kagami woke up. He yawned as he stretched himself. Still half sleeping, he looked at the clock in the bedroom.
9.30am.
…
9.30am?
School starts at 8.30am… After a few minutes of shock, he quickly dashed to the bathroom and quickly washed up.
What's worse? Today was Kagami Taiga's first day of school.
Ah… But actually if Kagami was early, that will be weird. Since when does Kagami even come early in class?
He rushed out of his bed, almost throwing everything in the air as he run to the bathroom. Jeez, never underestimate someone when they are late. They can make a 30 minute morning routine, shortened to 10 minutes, just like our dear friend, Kagami.
In 10 minutes, he's out of the house. The red head quickly sighed as he left the house.
.
Not less than 3 minutes, Kagami had reached Seirin. It was bustling with noises inside.
Kagami gave a blank look. Why are there so many people around? Aren't they supposed to be in class? He randomly tapped somebody hoping to get his answers but unfortunately for the person he tapped, always have the frightened look and shake his head shouting for mercy. Everybody around them gave Kagami a disapproved look.
"Wait. What. I didn't do a shit yet." He exclaimed in defense.
Yet? Well well, Kagami san, that's a bad choice of word there. The people around even start to whisper among themselves pointing at the said red head, making the red head blushed in frustration. He quickly let go of the innocent victim as he walked away.
Sigh. He won't get his answer here. He just had to go to the faciliator's room.
Yes. Indeed. He didn't get out of that room scott free. The first 30 minutes was their homeroom, and Kagami san here, was late and missed it. He left a bad bad first impression to his homeroom teacher as she scolded and shook her head in disappointment as she lectured the poor guy about lateness. After a good 30 minutes, he was finally let go after she told him his class. He was also told that they are supposed to walk around the school and join a club they want, explore the school and know better until 11.00am.
The moment he went out, he was blinded by the bright morning sun and the bustling noisy noises as people are giving posters to the freshmen trying to lure them in, flattering them by saying that they have talent or what… Ah, but no one tried to recruit Kagami Taiga. Why? Well, one word, appearance. Kagami was wearing a deep scowl right now. Half of it was because of his natural facial expression, and the other was because how frustrating he got when the teacher took her own sweet time lecturing him.
First day of school, Kagami Taiga known as the delinquent. Oh. That's sad.
Not only no one dare to recruit him, but instead most of them move out of his way as if he was some thug leader, except for two people who was too busy trying to recruit members to basketball club. Hearing the word 'basketball' causes this Bakagami to pump up for no reason and he well, in other's perspective, threatened Koganei, a basketball senior, that he wanted to join.
"I-I brought back… A new student…" Koganei cried as he was brought to the basketball booth.
"Is the basketball club here?" the 'new student' asked.
"… Yeah." The coach, Riko, said slightly nervous too.
Kagami took the initiative and sat on the chair as Riko passed him tea while she attempted to explain about the club.
Attempted.
She would have if Kagami did not interrupt.
"I don't care about that. Give me a paper." He said as he gulped the tea down in one shot.
"Eh?"
"I'll just write my name and go back." He quickly wrote things down as he handed it to Riko before leaving.
"Huh? You didn't write your goals?" Riko asked as Kagami was halfway up.
"None in particular. After all, Japanese Basketball is the same thing everywhere." He said as he threw the empty cup to the bin without looking at it.
.
"Now that I have the time all the way until afternoon where the class start, what should I do? Hmm, I guess I will just look around." Kagami said to himself.
He walked out of the 'club recruiting' area and towards the quiet side. He looked around as he did not see himself bumping into something shorter than a normal freshman. Hard like metal.
"Ouch. What-?" He was going to scold the person but saw the person's situation.
"Ah. I apologize for bumping into you." The boy with pale blue hair and similar colour eyes apologized with a blank gaze.
"N-No. It's nothing." Kagami felt guilty as he looked at the boy.
He was sitting on a wheelchair.
"I'm Kuroko Tetsuya. What about you?" Kuroko asked as he looked up.
"Kagami… Kagami Taiga." He said awkwardly.
"Ah. So Kagami kun. See you soon." He bowed slightly before leaving.
See you soon? Ah well.
Kagami looked at Kuroko who was wheeling himself through the crowd.
Feeling both pity of the boy's situation and guilty of bumping into him, the red head quickly ran to the bluenette and pushed his wheelchair.
Kuroko seemed shocked but quickly thank him; the other just shook his head and blushed in embarrassment.
They continue to walk in silence as Kuroko was looking at the Seirin brochure that was given to all students. There was also a map included showing which club was at and also a full list of clubs. There were one club that caught Kuroko's attention.
Basketball club.
"So… What club did you want to join?" Kagami started asking awkwardly.
Kuroko continue to look down and away from these two words, "I am not sure."
"Why do you want to join a club? It is not compulsory right?" the red head spurted out.
"Are you implying that it would be a trouble for me with this pair of legs?"
"N-No. Sorry. I am just curious."
"It's okay. You don't have to apologize." Kuroko stopped looking at the brochure and turned back to look at Kagami who was pushing him then look back to the front, "We only have three years in high school. I want to have fun. What about you, Kagami kun? Did you join something? Did you join because you want to have fun?"
Kagami stopped pushing, "What I'm looking for is not playing sports for fun. I want to play in matches that make my blood boil at full strength." He said seriously.
He looked at Kagami with his blank look, "I think that is the definition of fun, Kagami kun. It is because you want to play in full strength, wanting to have a great opponent; you must have fun playing it first. Then you will look forward to playing with them and make your blood boil."
The red head paused and looked at Kuroko's back. He smile slightly before continue pushing the wheelchair.
"Now that I remembered, you have not joined any club yet right? Why not join basketball as a manager or something? It sounded like you played basketball before if you know the feeling." He said happily at the thought of having Kuroko in the club with him.
"… Basket…ball?" Kuroko then looked back to the brochure, "No."
Kagami was stunned by the refusal. It is not like he did not expect to be rejected. But he was expecting a much more polite one. But this 'No' he said contain a lot. It contained sadness, anger, cold and most of all, hatred.
He did not questioned much and remained silent.
The trip was silent except for a few words. In the end, Kuroko decided to join Library club which truthfully, was the most boring club Kagami ever seen, in his opinion that is.
After Kuroko wrote his name on the registration form, Kagami started to ask.
"Ah. Erm. It is almost time for homeroom. What is your class? I can at least bring you there."
The bluenette looked up and to Kagami then nodded, "Thank you, Kagami kun. Class 1-B."
"That's the same class as me! Lucky! So we will be classmates from now on, huh." He grinned. Oh sweet. First friend of the year!
Kuroko remained an impassive looks as he deadpanned, "I know that. I saw your name above my name in the class list."
"Ahhh? Serious? Oh! Is that why you said 'See you soon' just now?"
The bluenette simply nodded.
"Ah I see!"
And thus, the ice was broken.
While they were on the way up, they talked a lot.
Kagami learnt that Kuroko had a naturally low presence and also is a crazy fan of vanilla milkshake. Oh and it is best if you don't even insult his love towards vanilla flavoured food, especially milkshake. An advice from Kagami Taiga.
They were quite on time. They went in the classroom as around half of the class were seated.
The seats were arranged by their seat number which was also by their names. (Alphabetic order) Kuroko was seated behind Kagami.
Seeing the teacher have not reached, Kagami turned around and started chatting with Kuroko like the rest of the class who were chatting with friends.
"Ne, Kuroko. I don't know if I should ask this but what," He paused and gulped, "Happened to your leg?"
Kuroko looked at him before sighing, "I was waiting for that question, Kagami kun. About this leg-"
His sentence was cut by the teacher's entrance, "Okay class. Settle down"
"I will talk to you later."
.
3.10pm
School had ended. Kagami and Kuroko were packing on their way to Maji Burger.
The trip was filled with complains about how nagging their homeroom teacher is or whatsoever.
"Man. That teacher was so…"
All Kuroko did was nodding their head as he will don't really care about the teacher or what. But he had to say he enjoyed his first day of school. He made a friend. But what he doesn't like was the sometimes pitiful looks he received from others especially his classmates. During a short break, most of them also gathered around Kuroko asking him what happened. But thanks to Kagami, they all fearfully excused themselves.
After the long talk, they reached Maji Burger.
It was crowded as usual. Kagami took an initiative to order the food.
Kuroko looked around and found a seat. As he was observing the passerby, a sound of a violin filled the air.
Violin.
The bluenette slowly turned his head.
All the customers also paused what they are doing to look at the person playing the violin. It was a him in his twenties. He was standing up and played the violin for a while.
It appeared that he was playing to a girl in front of him. The girl looked at him shocked as she covered her mouth and tears flowed down. Then the male finished the song and placed the violin to his chair and knelt down.
"Will you marry me, Aiko?" He said loudly. The crowd began to cheer "Say yes!" Like some typical drama you watched in television.
The girl nodded her head with tears and said a firm "Yes". The male began to smile and hugged the girl.
"Man. That was one dramatic scene we came across." A voice grabbed Kuroko's attention back. Kagami placed the tray down and hand the extra large milkshake to Kuroko.
"Here." Kagami also hand him a burger.
"Thank you." The bluenette mumbled before sipping the drink.
The red head began to stuff burgers into his mouth.
The bluenette left the burger on the table and stopped sipping, "So, Kagami kun. You want to know about my legs right? If it is you, I think it is alright to let you know."
Seeing the serious facial expression on Kuroko, Kagami quickly swallowed the big chunk of burger and nodded his head.
"Honestly,"
.
"Doctor! How is him? How is my Tetsuya?" A long blue haired woman asked urgently with his husband beside trying to calm her down but also silently asking for answers.
"I don't know. He had severely injured his head and both of his legs." He said calmly.
"What? So how is he? Will he stay alive?"
"Please stay calm." He swallowed his saliva as he also tried to calm himself down.
How? How is he going to deliver this message?
"Please tell us. Tell us what happened to Tetsuya. I need to know." The father said with tears flowing down.
"This will have to depend on the patient. It is a 50 50 chance. But let me warned you first, if he can get over this and was alive, he will be handicapped and have a high chance of…"
.
"I don't recall a thing. I personally don't remember anything before the accident."
Note:
Please tell me your opinion! Oh and haha honestly, I read my first story and that's where I get the idea of losing memories! I really love this kind of stories!
Is it a little too rushed? Ahaha.
