Aichi x Misaki FanFiction

Chapter 5

The sky was as black as an everlasting abyss. Darkness enveloping the world, devouring all the light from it like an unbreakable grasp. The ground was shaking and buildings were falling. Despite the chaos and terror all that could be heard was the high pitch cackling of a voice in the distance.

"All that you love will be torn apart, piece by piece and enveloped by the shadows!" Flashes of a tall, brunette haired person appeared in the sky, the silhouette collapsing to the floor before another silhouette standing behind it. Flashes of more silhouettes appeared, each one slowly being absorbed by darkness, disappearing into the night.

The final silhouette to appear was one of a female, her long beautiful hair breaking through the darkness. The light shone for a few more seconds before it was also taken by the abyss. It slowly turned around, revealing its shadowy face before shrieking with the same voice as before:

"THE SHADOWS HAVE ARISEN!"

Aichi quickly jolted up out of bed, sweating and shaking from what must have been a bad dream. He turned in his bed to his bedside table and stared at the picture of the original Team Q4, before the first national tournament, outside Card Capital. Aichi remembered how small he and Kamui were compared to Kai and Misaki, as well as how undeveloped his cardfighting skills were back then. His deck was also on the table next to the picture, Blaster Blade Liberator sat on top.

Still shaking from the abrupt awakening from his sleep, Aichi climbed out of bed and made his way to the bathroom to get ready. After Aichi has showered and changed he made his way to Card Capital to go meet Misaki and the rest of the group.

Misaki was sat in her usual place, at the counter reading her book, overseeing everyone in the shop while Shin was off out doing some errands. Despite the awful rain and grey sky the shop was still as packed as ever. The usual customers were in, consisting of: Kamui, Morikawa, Izaki, Eiji and Reiji, Emi and Mai, Miwa and finally Kai. She was however wondering when Aichi was going to turn up, annoyed with herself for not getting his number.

After about 20 minutes had passed Aichi finally entered the shop, greeted by the gang as usual but more heart-warmingly by Misaki. Everyone was too focused on the game going on to turn around except Emi, who was looking at Misaki, in a trance by her beauty and elegance. Misaki was fully aware of everyone's attention of the game being played and took the opportunity to hug Aichi closely more than usual knowing that no-one would see. Aichi and Misaki went and sat by Miwa to watch the end of the game between Morikawa and Reiji. Morikawa still has his love for grade 3s but has learnt the lesson of too many and had learnt the importance of a balanced deck. Morikawa was using his newly adopted Dragonic Overlord the End deck against Reiji's MegaColony Deck.

The game went on for a good ten minutes before Morikawa finally outlasted Reiji and dealt him his 6th damage.

"Aww yes! Surrender to the power of Morikawa!" exclaimed Morikawa

"Next time ill beat you yo!" friendly replied Reiji. They both grabbed their decks and went and sat with everybody else at the table.

"That was a nice game guys! I think even Kai would have watched if he were here!" exclaimed Miwa

" That big jerk! Not coming to watch my game! Grrr!" angrily said Morikawa, slamming his fist down on the table.

"Easy Morikawa" quickly said Izaki, trying to calm down his friend as fast as possible.

"Don't take it too hard, Kai's just focusing on some other things at the moment" calmly said Miwa, "You want a game Aichi? Been a while since we've had a game aha"

Aichi who was almost in a day dream trance sat next to Misaki, took a few seconds to respond along with a gentle nudge from Misaki.

"Um yeah sure Miwa" replied Aichi, both of them getting up and sitting at the table where the Cardfight is to be held. They both shuffled their decks and placed them down onto the tables. After sorting out their opening hands and re-drawing Aichi and Miwa started the fight by both shouting Stand Up, Vanguard!

The first few turns of each fighter was pretty standard up until they both hit grade 3 after breakriding and the real game began. Aichi was still using one of his most beloved grade 3's in his deck; Alfred, using his skill to call multiple units from the top of his deck to the fight while still preserving his hand. Miwa on the other hand was still sporting his Seal Dragon deck, using the power of the crossrides limit break to overpower his opponents.

"Now using Alfred's Limit Break; gaining 2000 power for each Gold Paladin rear guard I have in play, I attack your Vanguard!" Confidently shouted Aichi, hoping to win the game on this attack.

"Guard!" in response Miwa threw down a 20000 power shield, blocking the attack given that Aichi doesn't pull a trigger. Aichi stared determinedly at his deck, knowing that a trigger was awaiting his drive check.

"The first!" Aichi flipped over the card and revealed Blaster Blade Liberator, a good card none the less, but not what he needed. As Aichi grabbed the next card on the top of his deck, he felt a sudden surge of pain shoot up his arm and into his body, more painful than anything else he has experienced. As the pain engulfed his body everything around Aichi went pitch black.

"What's happening?" Aichi tried to move but his feet were rooted on the spot and even turning his head came with great discomfort. Light slowly started to spill into empty darkness forming the outlines of figures. One by one the figures stepped up to the shadow and fell disappearing into the darkness. As the last figure collapsed and disappeared the shadow slowly crept towards Aichi until it stood directly before him.

"Leave me alone!" screamed Aichi, angry and confused to what was going on. The shadow started to whisper something too quiet that Aichi couldn't make out what it was saying. Suddenly the Shadow let out a blood curling shriek forcing Aichi to cover his ears. The intensity of the shriek continued to intensify and Aichi could do nothing except fall to the floor thrashing in pain.

As Aichi opened his eyes he realised that he was back in the shop, crouching on the floor, his cards everywhere, everyone staring at him except Misaki who was crouched next to him, her arm round his shoulders.

"Aichi! Are you ok?!" softly but also firmly said Misaki. Aichi could barely utter a response, instead exhaling heavily having trouble with his words.

"Let me take you upstairs Aichi, let you lie down" replied Misaki, helping Aichi to his feet. She started to walk with Aichi to the stairs and quickly turned around and said: "You guys carry on, I'll stay with Aichi" Miwa nodded at Misaki and proceeded to clear up Aichi's cards and put them aside for Aichi.

As Aichi and Misaki made their way up the shops stairs to the upper floor Aichi had to grip Misaki's waist harder as he felt like he was losing all strength while claiming the stairs, each step sapping a little bit from him, this almost gave Misaki a warm fuzzy feeling inside, despite Aichi being in pain before as if she felt he didn't mind grabbing onto her waist.

They continued to make their way into Misaki's bedroom and sat down on her sofa on the other side of the room.

"How do you feel?" asked Misaki, still concerned about Aichi.

"A bit better, although I can't remember what happened other than having a game with Miwa." replied Aichi, slow to get his words out.

"I think it's best that you get some rest, you can stay up here if you want, we can watch TV until you feel better up here if you want?"

"That sounds good Misaki, I think some rest can't do any harm" After Aichi had finished speaking Misaki got up and went and turned on the TV and grabbing the remote from her bed. She then sat herself back down next to Aichi this time closer, and started to flick through the channels. When Misaki had found a reasonable programme to watch she put the remote on the arm chair and leant slightly backwards into the sofa. Mustering up some courage Aichi slowly lowered his hand beside Misaki's and held it, Misaki grasping it back, entangling each other's fingers together.

Misaki then tilted her head until it made contact with Aichi's shoulder and kept it there, snuggling into it. Aichi felt like he couldn't be anywhere more perfect and continued to watch the TV with Misaki, feeling a lot better since his incident.
