Thanks so much to everyone who read the last chapter and for your comment. I am glad that you liked it that I included some Antonio/Laura. This chapter is going to be centered in them and in Diego and Eva too. I hope that you like it.

Chapter 14

Matt looked to the kids, who were sitting on the couch laughing about something that they were watching on TV and looked again to Gabby. They should speak about what they were going to do.

"What should we do now?"

Matt did not want to upset Antonio. Of course, he was not agreeing with what was happening between Antonio and Laura; in his opinion, they should sit down and talk about what is going on between them instead of having a fight in front of their kids. He remembered seeing his parents fighting when he was young from the top of the stairs and it was horrible. However, he knew that Antonio and Laura loved their kids and, they must be worried about them in that moment so, one of them should give them a call of at least tell them that they were fine.

"I think that we should call my brother," Gabby begun

"By us you mean you and the baby, right?" He did not want to be the target of Antonio's rage when he told him that his missing kids were at their home.

"Look at you, you put out fires for living but, you cannot handle a phone call with my brother" she teased him and gave him a pat him on his shoulder

"That is not true," he said in his defense. Then, she handed him her phone with a funny expression on her face "Alright, I am a coward," he said returning her the phone

She laughed and walked to the kitchen calling her brother whereas Matt walked to the living room to sit with the kids for a while.

"Hi guys" he sat between Eva and Diego and took a look at what they were watching. It was a movie based on the book Christmas tale of Charles Dickens "How are you doing?"

"We are fine," Diego said a little sad.

It was Christmas Eve and instead of being with their parents and family, they were with their aunty and her boyfriend. Neither of them wanted to see their parents fighting about who is right or who should have their custody.

"You know" Matt said looking to Diego "When I had your age, my parents used to fight most of the nights. I could hear them from my old room"

"Why were they fighting?" Diego asked

"At first, I thought that it was because of my sister and me. However, after hearing all their fight, I realize that we were the only two things that they had in common. I mean, they loved us so much so, it was not our fault" He had the feeling that they were thinking that their parents were fighting was their fault. Something that was not true.

"Then, why they fought?" Eva asked

"Sometimes marriages have fights because of single things"

"Like when dad let open the bathtubs," Diego said laughing

"Like that one" Matt said laughing as well "But, other times they yell to each other because they are scared"

"Of what?" Diego asked not knowing what Matt meant

"they are scared of losing the love of their lives"

"Do you think that mom still love dad?"

"I do not know but, I am sure that they love you two so much"

"Then, why are they fighting all the time?"

Matt shrugged and said, "I do not know"

Gabby, who heard all their conversation from the kitchen, entered in the living room and said "Guys, do you want to help me to prepare something for dinner?" Eva looked her aunty and gave her a single nod. She loved help in the kitchen

"Can we have pizza?" Diego asked

"Sure. You can also help if you want," she said trying to cheer up the youngest of the Dawson sibling who looked to be the more depressed one.

Eva and Diego got up of the couch and ran to the bathroom to wash their hands.

"They are my kids too," Antonio yelled annoyed to his wife.

During the last ten minutes, they had been yelling at each other in the middle of the train station. Antonio was complaining that it was not fair that he could only see Eva and Diego two times per month.

"Well, you should have thought about them before applying for a spot in the intelligence unit" Laura said angry

"Are you kidding me? You were fine with me joining to that unit so, what changed?"

"What changed?" she said raising her voice "You go undercover in every case whereas in Vice, it was only one or two times per months"

"Laura," he begun

"Your children missed you every night you were undercover. Do I have to tell you how many of Diego's match did you missed the last months because you were too busy working on a case?"

"Do you think that I don't know it?" He tried to be all the matches of Diego but, it was difficult to go since during the weekend the intelligence unit was busier. However, he tried to make it up to Diego when that happened. He tried to spend as much time as he could we both of his kids. Maybe he took them to eat an ice cream or go to the park to play football with them.

"Then, why do you go undercover?"

"Because it is my job!"

"I think that you love your job more than your family" she accused him "This is the end of the discussion. I am going to take Eva and Diego to my parents' house. Tell them bye if you want" she turned around walking to Diego and Eva, who were sat on a bench the last time she saw them. However, they were not there anymore "Oh my God. Where are the kids?" she said worried and covered her mouth with her hands

"What? They were sitting right there," Antonio begun

"Oh my God" Laura rubbed her hand over her face "What if somebody has kidnapped them?" She was feeling the same anguish that she felt when Pulpo kidnapped Diego one year ago "We have to find them" she said looking to Antonio

"Do not worry. I can track them via their phones" he held her hand "I will find them. Let's go to the district"

"But, what if they have taken a train to another city?" Laura said terrified "They could be out of the state"

"Laura" Antonio approached to her and cupped her face "I am going to find them" In that moment he was not speaking like a concerned father, he was speaking like the police officer that he was. It was hard but, if he wanted to find their kids, he should avoid that his feelings could interferewith his judgment.

"Alright" she said and Antonio kissed her on her forehead

"Let's go"

When Matt placed the pizza they all have cooked together on the oven, he walked to Gabby. The kids were sat again on the couch watching some TV, so they could not heard their conversation.

"Did you speak with your brother?"

"Not yet" she had been trying to call him or Laura during the last half an hour but neither of them had picked up her calls "I am worried. What if there are scared and called the cops?"

"Gabby, you have been trying to get in contact with him like ten times. Do not worry. Everything will be okay" he rubbed her forearms

"I know. And what about you? Are you okay?"

"Yeah" he gave her confused look "Why shouldn't I be?"

"Baby, I heard you telling them about your parent's fight"

Speaking about his childhood was hard for him but doing it about his parent fight was like ten times harder for him. He lied the kids. The reason why his parents had a fight every night was because of him. His father used to say that he was worthless and would never do something useful with his life.

"I am fine" he said and gave her a forced smile before going to the living room

"Baby" Gabby held his hand and made him stop of getting away from her "You can speak with me about it, if you want, you know that, right?"

"I know" he smiled as he approached her giving her a tender kiss on her lips.

"You are going to be a great daddy," she said rubbing her belly

"And you a great mommy," and he crushed his lips against her

Laura was sat on Antonio's chair looking the pictures of the SD card of her phone. Most of the pictures were of Antonio with the kids. She couldn't remember when was the last time that she watched that pictures.

In the last couple of months, she had missed so much Antonio. In addition, she was still in love with him. However, she could not watch him getting hurt anymore because of one of his undercover cases. It was so hard for her to see him lying in a hospital bed because of his injuries.

"I got an address," Antonio said walking to her.

He gave her the paper with the address and she looked at it "Antonio, this your sister's address"

He was too focused on finding their kids were that he did not realize that the address that he had obtained after tracking Diego and Eva's phone was his sister's address.

They had ended finished the pizza and now they were playing a board game on the coffee table. Diego along with Matt were sitting on the floor; Matt's back was resting against Gabby's leg. Gabby and her niece were on the couch.

They were playing an old version of Monopoly that Matt had from when he was young. It was funny and the kids were laughing.

"Yay!" Diego yelled happy when Matt fell in one of his hotels "It is 3000 bucks"

"Are you kidding me?" Matt asked as he hands him the money

"I told you, he is a brainiac" Gabby said laughing

The laughs were interrupted when somebody rang the bell. Matt looked to Gabby and got up from the floor going to the main door. He looked through the peephole and saw Laura and Antonio on the other side of the door.

"Matt," Gabby said walking to him. Matt looked at her and gave her a single nod. Gabby turned around to face Diego and Eva "Guys, why don't you wait in our room?"

"okay," Eva said and she and her brother went to the room.

Matt opened the door and moved to one side letting his brother-in law and Laura inside.

"Where are they?" Antonio asked looking through the dining room. Their coats were on the couch.

"Antonio," Gabby began as she took a step to approach her brother

"Where are Diego and Eva?"

"We know they are here," Laura said

"Yes, they are" Gabby said, "They are fine"

"And they are going to be grounded like they have never been" Antonio said annoyed walking to the living room and later to the kitchen "Diego, Eva!"

"We are here," Eva said opening the door of the room

"Dad" Diego began

"No! I do not want to hear anything out of your mouth right now except, I am sorry, dad" Antonio said "This won't happen again, dad. That's all I want to hear"

"Antonio" Laura said placing her hand on his shoulder letting him know that yelling was not the best option in that moment.

"You were busy yelling at each other that you forgot about us," Diego said "we want that you-"

"What do you want from me?" Antonio yelled annoyed

"We want you to fight for us. That's all we ever wanted" Diego yelled as well

"Why did you let mom take us to live with her sister? Why didn't you go after us?" Eva accused him "We do not want to live outside of Chicago"

"We want to come back home" Diego said with tears falling down his cheeks "I miss my friends and our family. Our family is right here in Chicago"

Any of adult knew what to do or what to say. That was the last straw of and none of them was going to give up.

"We want to come back home" Eva said looking to her mother

"Sweetheart," Laura approached to her daughter

"I do not want to hear more promises that we are going to spend more time with dad. Whatever happened between the two of you it's your problem not ours. We do not have to pay the consequences. Just fix it so we can be a family again. Please" Laura's eyes as well as Gabby's were filled with tears.

"Antonio, she is right. It is our problem" Tears were falling down her cheeks "What are we doing?" Until that moment, she did not realize how jealous she had been. She took Diego and Eva away from Antonio, who loved them so much.

"Guys" Matt said walking to Diego and Eva "Do you want some hot chocolate?" He took them to the kitchen leaving Gabby, Antonio and Laura alone in the living room.

"Guys, it would be better if you let the kids spend the night here" Gabby said to them "Tomorrow morning they will be at mom and dad's, alright?" she promises

Antonio looked to Laura for an answer and finally nodded "Thanks Gab's"

Antonio hugged his sister and she whispered in his ear "Do not screw this up" when they broke their embrace Antonio gave her a small smile letting her know that he would not screw up this time. This time, he will fight for his family.

In the next Antonio and Laura are going to talk. Will they be able to fix their problems? Will Eva and Diego come back to Chicago? Besides, it is possible that include some Dawsey in the next chapter but I am not sure.
