Hi everyone, how are you doing?
I know that it had been a long time since I update this fic but, I had been really busy in the last couple of months with a lot of assessments and tests. Right now, I have a couple of days off of University so, I am going to try to write new chapters as much as I can. Thanks for your patient.

Chapter 18
When shift was over, Matt and Kelly went straight to Casey and Dawson's apartment. In the last couple of months, it had become a habit to have breakfast together after shift.
"I am home, baby" Matt said as soon as he entered in the house with Severide behind him "Baby?" he said since he did not see her in the living room or in the kitchen
"Maybe she is still asleep-" Severide said walking behind his friend
"Yeah, it could be-"
"One second. I will be right there in no time, guys" they heard Gabby yelling from the master bedroom
"Have you thought about what I've told you early this morning?" Kelly asked resting against the kitchen's counter.
"Yeah" Was everything that Matt said
"And?" Kelly asked wanting to know that the blonde lieutenant had decided
"I am sorry Kelly but, I am going to let it pass" Matt said dropping his duffel bag on the floor of the kitchen.
"Seriously?" Kelly asked trying to sound annoying "come on buddy, you have to come-"
Matt let out a long breath. Kelly had been trying to convince him since they left fifty-oneto go somewhere with him tomorrow morning but, he was not interested in it"Kelly, I am tired. All I want to do is to cuddle with me fiancé on the couch watch a film and stay with heruntil our next shift. I don't know if you notice it but, yesterday were my first shift since I was sick with the flu. I am pretty tired"
"Come on-" Severide said trying to convince him. In reality he had a point, if he were Matt he would like to spend his free day with his fiancée rather than going with him to where he told him that they had to go.
"I said no" Matt said angry with the Squad Lieutenant
"Hey, what is going on, guys?" Gabby asked coming from the bedroom after hearing them raising their voices"Do I have to hit you with a hose?" she joked biting her lower lip
"Nothing" Matt said and he kneeledtotake out of his duffel bag his dirty clothes and putting in inside of the watching machine.
"Well, it does not sound like nothing" she said walking to the stove to heat up their breakfast
"Apparently, we have to be somewhere tomorrow morning-" Matt said resting against the kitchen countertop"and I don't want to go"
"I told you; tomorrow is the homage of a retired firefighter. Boden told me that it would be good if you and I could go there in representation of firehouse fifty-one"
"He is the one who should go-"
"He can't go because he and Donna had to take little Terrance to the pediatrics, that is why he asked me" he told saying the first thing that come to his mind.
"Kelly, I don't care. Besides, right now I am not in the mod for going to those kinds of events. Tell Herrmann to go with you or even better, go alone" he walked to the fridge for grabbing a bottle of juice.
In that moment, Kelly took the opportunity togive Gabby a conspiratorial look asking for her help; Matt could sometimes be a little thick-headed. She nodded understanding what Kelly was saying. He was doing his best to take Matt to the church without him suspecting anything however, Matt was not cooperating at all.
"Baby" Gabby said approaching to him and caressed him on his back "Maybe you should go"
"No. I want to be here with you" he said in a soft tone grabbing her hands "I want to do something with you, after all that had happened in the last couple of weeks, we have been apart of each other for a long time. Maybe we can go to the cinema or eat outside tomorrow-"
"I am sorry, I can't" for a moment she hated to herself for laying him. It was obvious that he wanted to spend time with her "Tomorrow I have to be at my parents' really early on the morning"
"Why?"
"My mom needs my help with something-. Sorry, baby"
Matt let out a long breath "How long it will take?" Matt asked looking straight to Kelly. Since he was not going to be able to spend time with Gabby, he thought that he did not have any excuse for not going to the homage.
"What?" Kelly asked
"How long is the homage going to take?" he asked before he could regret the decision that he had taken.
"I don't know. One or two hours" he said looking to Gabby
"Alright, I will be there" and later, he turned to face Gabby "Maybe when the homage is done, I can pick you up at your parents' and we can walk around the pier or do something else. Whatever you want-"
"Sure" she smiled and gave him a quick kiss on his lips
"Good, now that you have accepted I can tell you the bad news" Kelly smirked and patted Casey on his shoulder
"What bad news?" he asked looking him
"You have to wear your dress uniform"
"What?" Matt asked looking him open mouth "No way"
"Hey, you said that you are coming, you can't back out now. It's too late to complain" Kelly said laughing
"I don't want to wear my dress uniform-" Matt complained rising his hands "sorry but, I am not going-"
Gabby grabbed Matt by his shirt and got him closer "Why don't you want to wear it? I think you look hot in it" she whispered seductively and pushed her lips against his. She knew how to convince him.
"Oh really?" he asked with hoarsely voice "Do you think that I look hot in it?" Matt teased encircling her body with his arms
"Oh yeah, baby" She could feel the temperature of her body rising when she thought about what was going to happen the following morning "I think that the white shirt really suits you. It is a pity that you can't wear it more often-"
"I thought that you liked my Lieutenant polo-"
"Of course that I still like it. How could I resist that that grey Lieutenant polo? You look even hotter,especially when you are doing your paperwork after a fire call and you are still covered of dust-" she bitted her lower lip "My hot Lieutenant"
For moment they forgot that Kelly was also on the kitchen watching how they were flirting with each other.
God, she knows how to turn me onhe though after realizing that his jeans was getting tighter each second.
"So, are you gonna wear your dress uniform tomorrow?"
"Sure, and maybe I will pick you up straight after the homage to take you home-" he said seductively "and maybe we could-"
"Alright, stop right there" Kelly said before they could say anything else "I don't need to know more details about your sex life" he said trying to sound a little traumatized
"Don't complain. You don't live here anymore so, if you don't like what you are seeing get out of here" Matt joked and kissed Gabby again.
"Just put your dress uniform, I don't need to know what is gonna happen between you two after the homage"
"Why do I have the feeling that you are conspiring against me with Kelly?" Matt said suddenly making Gabby and Kelly share some confused looks. Perhaps, he had caught them?
"Come on, let's eat breakfast guys" Gabby said before Matt could said anything else.
"So, it is true" He said and Gabby grabbed a napkin and threw it his direction.
"I was joking" he said laughing

The following morning, Matt woke up on an empty bed. On Gabby's pillow there was a note that she had written for him. He took the paper and read it aloud.
"You looked so peaceful in your sleep this morning that I didn't want to wake you up. Have fun with Severide. See you soon. I Love you. Gabby"
After reading the note, he felt disappointed with him for being sleeping while Gabby was getting ready to leave to her parents' house and not having said goodbye to her.
After a couple of minutes, he got up of the bed and went to kitchen for grabbing some breakfast. Kelly had sent him a text saying that he will be there for picking him up in one hour. After eating his breakfast, he went straight to the shower and got ready for the homage. Just went he was trying to tie his necktie, Kelly knocked on the main door. Frustrated with the necktie, he walked to the door and opened it.
"Hey, how are you?" Kelly greeted him entering in the house
"Asking to myself why I agreed to go with you to the homage" he returned to the mirror of the bathroom and tried to tie his necktie again. It was Gabby who always helped him with it.
"Do you need help?" Kelly asked from the doorframe of the bedroom
"No, I think that I can do it by myself"
"Okay. Hurry up; we have to be there in twenty minutes"
"Alright, I am done" he walked to the couch and grabbed navy blue jacket and his dress hat.
"Let's go" Kelly pattered on his shoulder and they left the apartment.

Gabby was nervously moving around the small room that the church had for the brides to get ready in it. Today it was the day she was going to get married to the most amazing man that she had ever known. The man who looked after of her every time she did not feel well. The man who made her laughed, even when she did not want to. The man who gave her one of the precious gift that the live has, a baby. And of course that man only could be Matthew Casey.
"How are you?" her mother asked
"Nervous" she replied
"It is normal; I was feeling pretty nervous the day that I got married to your father"
"Do you think that all of this is a bad idea?" she said worried of how will Matt fell when he finds out what she had prepared for him.
Her mother grabbed her of her hands and made her to sit her on a bench "are you having seconds thoughts?" she asked worried "there is time to cancel all of this"
"Of course not" she said immediately "No, I am not having seconds thought. I am just worried about what will Matt thinks when he finds out that we are gonna get married today" she eyes started to fill with tears.
"Baby don't cry, you are going to ruin your makeup"
"How do you think that he is going to feel when I tell him that I have prepared our weeding without him. God, I am stupid"
"No way. You are not stupid, you are in love. Everyone at fifty-one had helped you to prepare everything. Even his mother, his sister and his best friend had helped you with the last details; so, it can be said that it is like if a part of Matt had helped you" she caressed her and cleaned her tears "He is gonna love it, especially when he sees you in your dress"
"You are right. Come on, I need to have my hair done"
Her mother smiled and kissed her on her forehead. She just hoped that her mother was right and that Matt wouldn't get angry with her when she told him what was going on.

"Sev, are you sure that this is the correct address?" Matt asked looking through the window of the car to the church that was in front of them
"yeah, this is the address that Boden gave me" Kelly said and parked his car on front of the church
"I doubt that the homage could be here-" Matt doubted
"Come on, get out of the car" Severide said opening the driver door. Matt followed him and both started to walk to the church "no" Kelly said before Matt could approached to the main entrance of the church "We have to go in this way" he said pointing whit his head to the right side of the building.
"Why?" Matt asked shocked
If he enters from the main door, he will find out that there is not a homage Kelly remembered Gabby's words "That is what Boden said. I didn't asked him why. Come on, let's go before we are late"
Not really sure of his answer, Matt followed Severide and both of them entered to the church for a door that was situated on right side of the building.
As soon as they entered they were greeted by Chaplain Orlovsky "Lieutenants" he said with a big smile on his lips and offered to each of them a hand shake.
"Chaplain" Severide said
"Good to see you Chaplain" Matt said smiling glad to see him again. He would be always glad for the words that the chaplain told him when he showed up on his room of the hospital when he was admitted. Thanks to him Gabby was again of his life. He was going to be indebted to him for the rest of his life.
"Take him to the second room on the left" Chaplain Orlovsky whispered to Severide
"Alright, let's go buddy"
"Take me where?" Casey asked looking to both men "where are we going?"
"Come on, he said we have to go to that room!"Severide said
"Kelly, I am tired of all of these. I am notgoing to anywhere until one of you tell me what is going on" and he crossed his arms in front of his chest
"Matt, please trust me. We have to go to somewhere"
"Kelly-"
"Matt, you are gonna find the answer to all of your questions in that room. I promise you, son" the Chaplain said
Matt took a deep breath. The chaplain had never let him down. He nodded and said "Alright but, it someone better start telling me what is going on or I am going home"
Matt followed Kelly to the room and they entered inside of it. It was a small room with a bench on one side. In front of the bench there were three full body mirrors. It looked like a room in which the bride or the broom gets ready for their weeding.
"I need to check something, I will be right back" Kelly said interrupting his though
"Where are you going?" he asked walking behind his friend
"Matt, you can't come. You have to wait here"
"Why?" He said annoyed "What is going on, Sev?"
"Buddy, just trust me, alright? Don't get out of this room"
And after that, Kelly left the room letting him alone in the room not knowing what to do.

"God, this is gonna be difficult" Kelly said after closing the door "where is Gabby?" He asked to the chaplain. Next to the old man there were a couple of guys from fifty-one.
"She is getting ready in that room" Brett said pointing to a room that was at the end of the hallway
"I am gonna talk with her. Keep an eye on this room, I am sure that Matt will try to get out" Kelly said to Cruz, Herrmann and Otis
"Don't worry" Herrmann grabbed a chair and took a seat in front of the door blocking it "He is not gonna get out of that room"
Kelly laughed and walked straight to the room in which Gabby was finishing of getting ready. He knocked on the door and waited for her mother to open it.
"Kelly" Gabby's mom greeted him
"Is Matt here?" Gabby asked and Kelly gave her a single nod of head "What is wrong?" she asked worried
"Gabby, you have to speak with him. He is asking questions" Kelly said "I don't know what to tell him-" he made a pause and followed saying "Maybe it is time you tell him what is going on-"
"You are right" She was still wearing one of his hoodies and yoga pants so, she didn't mind if Matt saw her.
Nervously, she walked out of the room and walked to the room in which Matt was.
"did he try to get out of the room?" she asked funny when she saw that Herrmann was sitting against the door
"I didn't want to gave him the chance of doing it" he laughed
"Are you going to talk with him?" Brett asked
"Yeah. I think that he deserves to know what is going on" she bitted her lower lips and looked the door
"Don't worry kid; he is not going to say no. He is crazy for you" Herrmann said and after that everyone walked out of the hallway letting her alone with her though. She took a deep breath and opened the door.
Matt was looking through the window to the street and didn't noticed that she had entered in the room until she cleared her throat.
"Gabby" he said happy of seeing her "What are you doing here? Didn't you say that you had to go to your parents' house" Matt said approaching to her "Did you come to rescue me of this homage?" he joked
"Matt, it would be better if you take a seat-" she grabbed his hands and they took a seat on the bench
"Why?" he asked worried "Is everything alright?"
"I need to talk with you"
"alright but, is everything alright with you and the baby?" he asked resting his hand on her baby bump
"Yeah, we are fine-"
"Then, what is the problem?" he asked smiling
"I don't know how to tell you what I have to tell you"
"Gabby you are worrying me-"
"There is not any homage. But, don't get angry with Severide, I made him lie to you about it"
"Why?-"
"Because, I-I" her mind was a blank. She could not find the words and the courage to tell him the truth. Embarrassed, she rolled her eyes and stared to the floor.
He rested his right hand under her chin and lifted her head "Baby" he whispered
"I don't what to wait anymore" she said softly and a tear came down her check
"Wait for what?" he asked curiously since he was not understanding anything about what she was saying
"Sometimes you can be really slow" she joked laughing "You have been asking me this question so many times that, I think that it is my turn to ask you" she made a pause and turned to face him "Will you marry me? Right here, right now"
