Hello everyone, how are you doing?

I know that it have been a long time since I update any of my fics, specially this one. I have been really busy in the last couple of mouths. I started to work with two of my teacher from the Master that I am doing and at first I just went to the lab from Monday to Friday but, three weeks ago they told me that I had to go Saturday and Sunday too. So, as you can imagine I didn't have to much time for writing new chapters. But, the good news is than I am almost over with my laboratory work meaning that I am gonna have more free time soon =).

I hope that you like this new chapter and let me some reviews. The fic is almost over, there is two more chapter that I would try to update as soon as I can (I can't promise it but, I am gonna try to ended the fic before the end of the year).

Chapter 19

Gabby was nervously staring at Matt, waiting for his answer. One part of her was telling her that his answer was going to be yes, however, he hadn't say anything since she had dropped the question on him a few minutes ago "Matt, baby-"
Until that moment he had not noticed that her hair was did lovely on top of her head and that her makeup was different for the one that she usually wore. She was right; he could be really slow sometimes. In that moment everything made sense in his mind. The church, her appearance, Chaplain Orlovsky, everything.
"Matt, do you want to marry me?" she asked again in a soft voice
"After all this time, don't you already know the answer to this question?" He said a few seconds later

She looked at him confused. Was he having second thought about getting married? Or didn't he want to marry her in that moment?
"Matt-" she started
He cut her off by giving her a kiss on her right cheek "Gabby, I will go with you until the end of the world if that is what you want. I will follow you everywhere just to be with you and see that beautiful smile of yours" he said smiling "come on, let's get married" he said grabbing her by her hand and walked to the door of the small room
"Wait" she said releasing his hand "first I need to get dressed"
"And what are you waiting for?" He said giving her one of his genuine smiles, something that she absolutely loved
She pressed her lips against his and she ran excited to the door "Wait here, it will not take long. Severide will tell you when everything is ready"
"Okay" and before she could get out of the room he added "I love you"
She stopped, turned around and smiled to him "We love you too"

Severide was walking around the room looking how Matt was doing and if he finished getting ready. He never thought before that Matt would be concern about his appearance but who could blame him, that was going to be his and Gabby's day.

Matt was looking at his appearance in the mirror. He was glad that he decided to shave that morning and cut his hair a couple of days ago. It was actually Gabby who suggested to him to have his haircutfor him to shave that morning. He was sure that she had calculated everything until the very last detail to have the best wedding ever. God, sometimes he could be really slow. How could he have not noticed that she was planning all of that?

"So, no cold feet?" Severide asked after patting his shoulder softly?
"No, I am cool" he said smiling. Inside he was shaking like jelly but, he would never admit it.

"Yeah, sure. If you say so" Severide said not really buying of his answer. After all the time, he knew Casey really well and he was sure that one part of him was nervous about taking the next step in his and Gabby's relationship "It is funny that Gabby asked you to marry her. What happened? Did you not have the balls to ask her?" Kelly joked breaking the tension a little bit.
Matt turned around and looked to his friend "I asked her twice" he said laughing
"Well, you should have asked her a third time" Severide said laughing as well
"it doesn't matter, I am going to marry her and I am really happy" the blonde lieutenant said smiling

"And enthusiastic" Chaplain added from the door, he dared to say that his eyes were shining.

Matt turned around and smiled to the old man, who was approaching to them "Of course, I am going to marry to the strongest, most single-minded woman I've ever known, why wouldn't I be?" he said shrugging

"Just a couple of minutes more and she will be your wife, kid" he said and squeezed his shoulder blade softly "Everything is ready. If you want you can get out of the room"

"Alright, let's go buddy" Severide said

"Severide, eh-"Matt started "I know that it is a little rushed and unnecessary but, do you want to be my best man?" he could not think of anyone better than Severide to be his best man. He had been always on his side "you are my best friend and I would for you to be by my side today."

"I thought you'd never ask" he said and hugged his best friend "come on we have to get you married"
All of them walked out of the room and walked through the hallway of the small church. Casey's hands were shaking and sweating and he didn't know how to hide it from everyone.
"Take this and hide your hands in your pocket for a couple of minutes" Boden said behind him and offering a handkerchief.
Matt took it and did what his chief told him "thanks, chief"
"By the way, congratulations. I hope that you take good care of Gabby and never let her walk away"
"I will" He said smiling. Suddenly, he saw that his small family standing up at the end of the hallway "Guys" he said walking to them with a big smile on his face.
"Look at you" His mother said with a wide smile on her lips. She was so proud of the man that her son had became "You are too handsome in your dress uniform-"
"Thanks" his cheeks turned red
"Hi uncle Matt" His niece said and hugged him "I am so happy for you and Gabby"
"Hey kiddo, how are you? That dress is really beautiful" he said smiling
"Thanks" the teenager said shyly
"How are you little, bro?" His sister asked
"God, I am shaking like jelly" he said ashamed. His hands were still sweating a little bit.
"Everything is going to be fine" His sister said and hugged him
"I know" he recognized "But, I am nervous" He made a pause and looked to his mother, who was looking him with a little nostalgia in her look "you okay, mom?"
"Yeah" she smiled softly "It just that you remind me so much of your father. He also was shaking like jelly the day that we got married" Some tears started to fill her eyes "I am sorry. I should not have mentioned it-"
"Mom" he hugged her "It is okay" he was also missing his father that day, despite everything that happened between them; he was still his father.
"It does not matter" she said a couple of seconds' latter "Today is your day; you are getting married to an amazing woman. You better take good care of her young man or you will have trouble with me" she joked
"Don't worry; I love her with all my heart"
"Hey, why don't we take a picture of us?" Violet proposed with her new camera in her hands.
"Sure, why not?" Matt said smiling
After taking some pictures, Severide approached Casey and told him that it was time, Gabby was ready and the wedding was going to start really soon.
"Alright, see you later" And he walked out of his family and entered in the small church. Suddenly, he stopped walking and looked around the room. In one side of the room there was their family of fifty-one as well as other friends of them. On the other side there were some of Gabby's relatives. Some of them he already knew however, same faces were new for him. What all of them had in common was that they were smiling to him, something that made him take a long deep breath and relax a little bit. Everything was going to be fine and in an hour, he and Gabby will be husband and wife.
A few seconds after he reached the end on the aisle, Matt was standing up nervously in front of the altar waiting for Gabby to walk through the aisle on the arm of her father. Severide was on his side laughing since he has never seen his friend as nervous as he was.
Suddenly, Matt saw how all the guests stood and his future wife had appeared. He turned around and held his breath as soon as his eyes reached Gabby walking to him dressed in the most beautiful white dress that he had ever seen. In that moment, he fell in love with her all over again. Just like he did the first time that he saw her walking through the double door of the firehouse on her first day as PIC of the ambo sixty-one.
A few seconds later, father and daughter arrived to where Matt was "Take good care of her, son" Matt smiled to him and offered him a hand shake.
"You are-" He couldn't find his voice "you are really gorgeous, baby"
She gave him a shy smile and said "Thanks, you also look really good"
"I love you" he whispered

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today for a truly special union" Chaplain Orlovsky started saying and everyone took a seat "A reminder that life's hardships and uncertainties are no match for the love between two people with open hearts and undaunted dedication to one another. So, it is with deep joy and appreciation that we bear witness to the joining of Matthew Casey and Gabriela Dawson in the bonds of holy matrimony"

During the ceremony neither of them could take their eyes of the other. Matt knewthat he had a silly smile on his face but, he did not care because after all, he was marrying the love of his life.

The time passed quickly and suddenly Chaplain Orlovsky said that it was time for them to say their vows and he was going to be the first one. Matt got scared for a second since he did not know what to say but, after taking a long deep breath, he decided to speak from his heart.

"Gabby" he said holding her hands "you are an amazing women and, I can´t imagine my life without you on my side. I do not want you out of it. Being with you is the best thing that ever happened to my. I promise you that I am going to love you every day and I am not going to let you walk away alone ever again because I love you with all my heart. Maybe it will not be an easy road but, I am hundred per cent sure that it will be worth with you on my side. I love you Gabby" she squeezed softly his hands. Some tears were filling her eyes; he could be really romantic when he wanted.

"I love you too, Matt" she said

"Gabby" Chaplain said indicating that it was her turn to pronounce her vows

"It was always you. Since the first day that I arrived at fifty-one six years ago. I fell in love with you at first sight as Shay used to call it" For a moment her voice broke down a little as she mentioned her best friend "Sorry" she said trying to hold her tears. Matt squeezed her hands giving her the courage to continue talking "You have always been my rock, a shoulder to cry on whenever that I need it, you are my friend and of course my lover. So, I vow to love you. And no matter what challenges might carry us apart. We will always find our way back to each other. I am sure" she ended

Some seconds after Chaplain Orlovsky continued talking a little bit more but, neither of themcould follow what he was saying. it was like they were alone in the church and nothing could break the magic moment that they were living.

Matt only came back to the reality when Chapalin said the last words of the ceremony "You may kiss the bride" he didn't have to be asked twice. Since the ceremony started he was dying to press his lips against her. Without wasting time, he approached her encircling his hands around her waist while her hands encircled his neck and, slowly their lips meets in a soft and sweet kiss while their the guest started to clap.

After taking some pictures inside and outside of the church, the just married couple walked to the truck 81, that was parked in front of the church with a big poster that said "just married" Matt pressed his lips against her temple and whispered "I love you"

"Come in guys, the truck is waiting for you" Severide said behind them "you will have time to canoodle later" he joked

They smiled and carefully Matt helped Gabby to enter in the back of the truck and later he entered. Behind the wheel sat Cruz together with Otis

"Who is ready for a party?" Cruz asked pressing the claxon of the truck

"Let's go guys; Molly's is waiting to us"

Fifteen minutes later, the truck 81 parked in front of Molly's and Matt and Gabby walked out of it and second watch took the truck to continue their shifts. Their families and friends were waiting there for them.

After eating some appetizers, talk with their families and friends who congratulate them for the wedding; the couple needed some time alone just for them. So, they decided to walk to the small dancing floor and join some couples that were already dancing. Matt encircled her waist with his arms and approached her, she rested her head on his shoulder blade and slowly they started to move.

"I am sorry" she said after a couple of minutes of silence

"Sorry for what?" He asked not knowing why she was apologizing. He moved a little bit to face her properly

"You didn't have a bachelor party with the guys-"

"It does not matter" He said and pressed his head against her forehead

"Don't lie to my, baby" she made a pause and added "A bachelor party is the best night of any guy who is going to get married-"

"In my case, I don't think so. You know how Severide and the rest of the guys are. I am sure that they would have planed something funny but not for me. I am sure that Severide and the guys would had take to some place with girls and I am not the kind of guys who likes that"

"I am sure that despite of that you would have a great time with them" she asked curiously

"I am not really sure" he made a pause and continue saying "You know me, I am modest. Last night, cuddling to you and the little one on our couch watching a film under a warm blanket was worth than any bachelor party" He pressed his lips against her and continued saying "This, together with the news that we have a baby in our way, is the best surprise that anyone has given me in all of my life" she smiled and kissed him on his lips

They continued dancing together a couple of minutes more in silence "Do you want to know a secret?" He whispered seductively in her ear. She nodded and he continued talking "All I wanted for Christmas was you"
"I love you"

He smiled to her and said "I love you too"

She rested her head against his shoulder and they continued dancing on their own rhythm absorbed what was happening around them. In that moment nothing else matter more than that moment to them. That was their moment; their time.

Hours later, they had ended of eating the cake that Laura prepared for them and Matt and Gabby were left alone at the main table. Matt was holding her hand on the top of the table and was caressing it softly. They were pretty grateful of having a lot of people of their lives willing to make whatever they needed

"I have a kind of crazy idea" Gabby said

"What do you have in that mind of yours? -" he asked curiously

"Maybe we should tell them about the baby, baby" she suggested

"Are you sure?" Matt asked trying to hide the big smile he had on his lips. Since he found out that she was pregnant he was dying to tell everyone that a little Dawsey baby was on its way.

Gabby gave him a soft smile; she knew that he was dying to tell everyone that in some months they were going to be parents ever since he found out that she was pregnant "Yeah. Besides, we have all our family here so it would be easy to tell them-"

"I love you" he crushed his lips against her "Do you want to do it now?" He asked and she gave him a single nod and that was enough for him to grab her hand and get out of his chair "Can I have everyone's attention please?" He said and a couple of seconds later everyone in the room stopped of doing whatever they were doing and stared to the just married couple "First of all, Gabby and I want to say you thank you for being here with us today. Today was an important day in our lives" he made a little pause and looked to Gabby giving her one last chance of the opportunity of backing out about telling everyone about their baby.

"And we have some news that we want to share with all of you-" Gabby continued saying and looked to Matt "Come on, tell them" she told him smiling

Matt smiled and placed his right hand on her little rounded belly "We are pregnant" he said broking the news in everyone.

The room remained in silence a couple of seconds more until Mouch, Herrmann, his wife and some other people started to clap and whistle really happy for the couple.

The squad lieutenant was the first one who approached to congratulated them "so, a little Dawsey baby is on its way" Severide said and hugged to his friend really happy

"Thanks, Kelly" Matt said

"You two are going to be great parents" he said before walking away so other people could congratulate them too

"So, we are going to have a new grandchild in a couple of months-" her mother said tighter with her father and Matt's mother

"Yeah" Gabby said smiling "I am two and a half months pregnant" Matt's hand was still resting on her belly

"Young man" her father said pointing him "you better take good care of them or-"

"You will be in trouble" his mother ended the sentence

"The two of them are my world and I am going to protect and love them every day of my life"
