Chapter 16

Hey guys how is everyone doing? I hope that y'all are doing good. So I am very sorry that I have not been able to update but a lot of things have been going on. I have been stressing for the last couple of months and most of it was because of the relationship I was in. thankfully I ended it at the beginning of this year and I feel like I am able to write again. I had already wrote this chapter twice the first one it was lost in my old galaxy. The phone just did not turn back on and chapter 17 was included there also.

The second time I started to write it, it felt ike I was just trying to finish the story and I was not feeling it and I didn't wanted to post a chapter just to post something and end it. I want to give yall something good because I think yall deserve the best for being patient and for waiting. Which I thank yall so much but like I said I will finish the story so you guys don't have to worry about that.

With that being said I will now leave you guys to the chapter.

Enjoy!

Gisselle's POV

I sighed as we finally made it to our camping site.

My parents had already started the camp fire and were already doing the barbeque.

I saw my mother next to my father by the barbeque pit. They were laughing and hugging each other. They looked so in love after all these years. After all they had to go through so they could be together. I was glad for them not only because they are my parents but because they deserved to be happy.

"Grandma! Grandpa!" Nessie yelled.

My parents turned to look at us and smiled. Then suddenly they were in front of us.

"We were wondering when y'all were going to make it." My mother said with a smile.

I smiled.

My mother was over a hundred years old and she still looked the same as to when she gave birth to me. Beautiful, happy and always so caring.

"We would have made it earlier but someone had to stop and wrestle with a snake." Edward said.

"Hey! I was just trying to have fun. Besides the snake was going after Nessie I had to save her." Emmett said.

We laughed. We knew very well the snake was running from us.

"And I thank you very much Uncle Emmie." Nessie said before she gave him a hug.

I smiled.

Emmett was very strong and he looked intimidating but with family he was a big teddy bear, and a big kid with the children.

"I can't wait until I grow up Uncle Emmett. I want to be able to kill snakes just like you." Mason said.

"Yeah maybe like in fifty years." I told him.

"Mom!" He said.

"I'm sorry son, but even though you look like you're almost two years old and you have the strength of a vampire I still don't want to see that anytime soon." I told him.

He pouted. "Dad?" Mason said.

"Son, listen to your mother. She knows was best for you." Edward said.

Mason sighed. "Okay." He said.

"Well who's hungry? We have made all of Gisselle's favorites." My father said.

"Y'all brought the barbeque baked potatoes?" I asked.

My mother smiled. "How can we forget." She said before she gave me a hug. "It's nice to see you again Gisselle."

"You too mom. I missed you." I told her.

"I missed you too sweetheart. Maybe y'all can come see us again back at home." She said before she let me go.

I nodded.

"Esme, Carlisle how good to see all of you again." My mother said as she went down the line saying her hellos.

Alice, my little sister, appeared suddenly in front of me. She took my hand in hers. "Come on we were just about to eat. We saved you a seat." She said.

"Oh ok." I told her. I felt bad for the rest of my family since they couldn't eat.

"Grandpa can you tell us a story?" Nessie asked my father, who was standing by the fire putting more wood in.

"Sure. Which one would you like to hear?" He asked.

"How you and grandma reunited." William said.

My father smiled.

We all went to sit around the fire on the trunks that we had been using as benches.

The children sat on the ground, and Emmett sat with them hugging his knees to his chest as if he was about to hear the best story of all time.

"Well we reunited in New York and we haven't been apart since then. The end." My father said.

The children and Emmett groaned.

We laughed.

"Jace tell them the story." My mother said with a smile.

My father turned to look at her and smiled. He offered her his hand and my mother took it. My father hugged her to his side.

"Well like I said we reunited in New York. Every time Karla was awoken I would feel a pull towards the place where she was at. This last time she was awoken in Houston. I went there alone leaving Heidy back in Volterra. I told her that I was going to New York and that I had to do some Shadowhunter business. Heidy had told me that if I did not marry her that she was going to kill Karla herself.

"I decided to come to Houston and follow Karla around she never saw me but I made sure that she was always safe. Then she decided to go to New York with her friends, and I followed. I found Heidy in New York, and I didn't know that she had followed me. I saw Karla on a boat that I was with Heidy. She looked straight at me and she smiled. Every time she smiled I would smile and that was when I made my decision. I decided to end it with Heidy. Now that I was near Karla I could protect her. Heidy saw Karla also and glared at her and told me that she would pay for what I had done.

"That same night I saw Karla in a party and I already knew that she was leaving so I offered to take her to Washington. I tried to always stay with her and I knew that we were not going to be safe so when Karla asked me if it was okay with me if we moved back to Texas I agreed. The land was not under our name and it was far away from the city that Heidy would not easily track us, and with the help of Magnus we had glamours around our home and they didn't know anything about us for years.

"We had met Bella here in Washington and we stayed in contact with her, but we did know know that she was working with Aro. You see before Gisselle found us again, Aro had tried to take Karla away but thankfully we were able to stop the ones that were trying." My father said (This story is called Being Different by the way. It's the first story that I started writing, and the Cullens are included there also)

"But how did you meet Bella?" Rosalie asked.

I was wondering the same thing.

"Well we were visiting the institute here in Washington, and my guess is that Aro knew that we were here so she sent her here. Unless she was keeping an eye on somebody else .We were in Seattle were some downworlders were going missing just to be found in Forks. We bumped into her one day that we were looking for a young man that had disappeared from Seattle. We asked her if she had seen him and she said no. She gave us her number and told us that maybe her father, Charlie, could help since he was the chief of the police in Forks." My father said.

"Y'all met Charlie?" Carlisle asked.

My mother nodded. "Bella explained to us that she had become immortal and that she could not visit her father so she would ask us to give him a message and she would talk to him on the phone. That was how we stayed in contact with her." My mother said.

"What did she say?" Esme asked.

"She told us that her husband had gotten her pregnant and that she did not know that he was a vampire and that after she was turned she woke up alone and he was gone and so was the child." My Mother said.

We sighed.

Leave it to Bella to make up a story after she abandoned her own child.

"She told that to Charlie, didn't she? That's why Charlie came coming back to the house looking for us." Edward said.

I never knew that Bella's father came looking for her unless…..

"You saw him?" Edward asked.

"I just remember seeing a man when I went shopping with Nessie once. She was still very little and he told me that she was beautiful. That she looked like someone he knew. After that we saw him frequently at the mall. I didn't know that was her father." I said.

"Well he did tell Bella that he had found who had her daughter but she had to tell him the truth in order that he could help her get her back, and Bella told him that she was going to get her back that she just needed him to keep an eye on both. After Gisselle found us, we lost contact with her. We called her several times but she never returned our call." My father said.

"All of that was going on right under our noses and we did not know anything about it." Esme said.

"But let's not talk about that. All of that is in the past, and now we are free." My father said.

We smiled and nodded.

"And to start celebrating our freedom how about we make some smores and we continue to tell stories?" My mother asked.

The children were on their feet at once jumping up and down.

"Who's going to tell a story next?" Emmett asked.

"How about Esme and Carlisle?" Alice asked.

"Alice I don't think that Esme would like to tell her story." I told her.

"No it's fine. I'll tell my story." Esme said.

Carlisle turned to look at her. "Are you sure, love?" He asked.

Esme smiled and nodded. "Everyone else has told their story. I think it's time for ours." She said with a smile.

My mother and my sister Alice started passing around the marshmallows, crackers, and the Hershey chocolates.

Once we were all settled and we had started doing the s'mores, Carlisle and Esme were the only ones standing.

"The first time I met Esme was when she was a little girl. She had fallen and her parents had brought her in because she had hurt her arm. That was the last time I saw her until she was sixteen. She had gotten sick and they had brought her in that day. I had recognized her at once. How could I forget her beautiful brown eyes, and her beautiful smile? Even when she was young she was beautiful, but I knew that I could never be a part of her life. So, I decided to move after that time I saw her. I came back a few years later, and I knew that she would already be married and she had probably had moved.

"One day I was almost done with my shift, when they told me that they had just rushed someone to the emergency room. When I came in I saw Esme laying down on the table almost life less." Carlisle said.

"You see I was married when I was rushed to the hospital. I never had a good relationship with my ex-husband. He was very abusive, and had already cost me to lose one of my babies. So when I became pregnant again I tried my best to please my ex-husband so I could have that baby. But my baby passed away a few days after birth. I didn't think that I could live anymore so I decided to take my life. I jumped from a cliff and almost ended my life." Esme said.

"When I saw Esme at the hospital I felt like I could not lose her. So I decided to turn her. Everyone thought she was a lost case since her heart beat was very faint. So I took her home with me and turned her. Edward was concerned that someone was going to be looking for her but I told him that I had made sure that no one was looking for her before I brought her home." Carlisle said.

"When I woke up I was confused as to what I was and what had happened. At first I was angry with Carlisle because he had saved me when all I wanted was to end my life. Then I learned how Carlisle saved Edward and I started to warm up to both. One night I was by myself and I decided to go for a walk. Carlisle and Edward trusted me enough that sometimes they would leave me by myself. I decided to go to the forest since I didn't think that there would be anyone there. There was a man there and it was too late when I decided to turn around. He was drunk and he tried harassing me. I had politely told him a few times that it was better if he went away and left me alone, but he did not listen.

"When he tried to force me that was when I attacked him. I didn't think and went for his throat. Carlisle and Edward found me later. I didn't know how much time had passed but when I saw that man lying down on the ground lifeless I felt like the monster I knew I was. Edward took me home while Carlisle got rid of the body. I stayed in my room after that. I wouldn't speak to Carlisle because I felt like I had failed him. He had always been so nice to me and I had let him down by killing a human.

"I still spoke to Edward though. He kept telling me that Carlisle did not think bad about me and that he was actually proud of me of how far I had come without killing anyone. He kept telling me that I should speak to Carlisle and talk things out but I felt like I was a burden for Carlisle. I felt that Carlisle only wanted me there because he had changed me and that he did not want anything else with me. So a month later I decided to leave. I was under control by then and my first year had already passed. Carlisle had said that he was okay with my decision, and that if that was what I wanted that he would let me go." Esme said.

"That was until I told Carlisle to tell her how he felt before she walked out the door. They had fallen in love with each other but they didn't know how to address it so they never told each other anything. Carlisle knew what Esme had been through in her previous marriage and he wanted to give her the space that he thought Esme needed, and Esme thought that Carlisle was in love with someone else since he did speak to her about a woman but he never mentioned any names." Edward said.

Carlisle turned to look at Esme and smiled. "It was that night that I promised her that I was going to try and be my best for her. That I was never going to leave her side." Carlisle said.

"And he has kept that promise thru all these years that we have been together. I know that I am not able to have children but Carlisle in a way has given me family that I have always hoped for." Esme said.

Through the night more stories were told. Mostly it was my farther telling the stories of the Shadowhunters, and how my mother and he had escaped the facility where they were created. He also told us how he lost his twin sister that same day that they escaped.

I really don't know how long we stayed up but I just remember Edward's strong arms around me taking me to our tent.

He lied me down slowly on the made up bed that we had brought.

I wrapped my arms around him and kissed his lips softly.

"Sleep love." Edward whispered.

"I cant. I'm awake now." I told him.

Even though there are some things that we can do to tire me out.

Edward chuckled.

Great. I forgot for a moment there that he can hear my thoughts.

"Is that what you want to do? Because you know that I don't mind satisfying you." Edward whispered before he kissed my neck.

"We just have to be quiet." I whispered.

Edward chuckled. "You just have to be quiet love." He said before he kissed my lips.

*()*

The next morning I woke up alone. I got dressed quickly and went outside where everyone was already reunited having breakfast.

I went to sit down next to Altair and facing Emmett.

Emmett grinned widely at me.

"What? Did I miss something?" I asked.

"Not really. But you did miss a great show last night." Emmett said.

My brows furrowed. "What do you mean?" I asked as I opened a bottle of water.

"I don't know just that there was a great deal of moaning going around last night." Emmett said just as I was trying to drink water.

I swallowed the water and tried coughing at the same which caused me to make a choking sound.

Melanie hit me in the back until I stopped coughing.

I looked around the table and noticed that my sisters and mother were looking down at their food. Their faces were red.

Emmett noticed that also and started laughing. He laughed so hard that if he was human his face would be so red and he would have tears running down his cheeks. He felled off his chair and he sounded like he couldn't breathe. Well he didn't need to anyway.

Rosalie just rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"I thought that it was only Gisselle and Edward being naughty last night." Emmett said.

"It's not like you weren't being naughty last night Emmett." Rosalie said.

"Yeah, but we went farther down the forest." Emmett said.

Rosalie rolled her eyes.

"Oh come on babe, it was only supposed to be a joke. I'm so sorry for embarrassing y'all like that. I was only trying to make a joke." Emmett said looking down at his food.

I felt bad for him. "I accept your apology Emmett, but there is something that you must do to make it up to all of us." I told him.

"And what is that?" He asked.

"A race." I said.

"A race?" He asked.

I smiled and nodded.

"Like a running race?" Emmett asked trying to hide a smile.

I smiled and nodded. "Yes." I said.

"When?" He asked excited.

I swear Emmett sometimes is just like a little kid. "Right after breakfast that way it won't be just you and me but the rest of us here also."

Everyone nodded.

"I'm in!" Altair said.

"So am I." Melanie said.

"Y'all can't leave me out of this." My little brother Edward said. Then he turned to look at his twin Alice. "What about you Ali?" He asked.

Alice looked up from her plate and smiled. "You know that where you go I go so this should be fun." She said.

My mother smiled at them. "We're in also." She said.

In the end only twelve of us were going to race. The rest wanted to watch us race. The triplets wanted to race also but I thought that they were little for this race. Maybe next time when they were a little bigger.

After we were done with breakfast we went to line up. Edward was to my right and Emmett to my left.

I crouched ready to run when I got a vision.

It was from Renesmee's point of view.

She was looking at us and I could tell that she was happy but something was wrong. She looked down as her hand went to her chest as if she was having a terrible pain. Then she fell and everything went black.

I blinked a couple of times and turned to look at Renesmee.

She was holding her chest.

"Nessie!" Edward, Alice, and I said at the same time.

Edward caught Nessie's head before it hit the ground.

"What's happening?" I asked.

Carlisle rushed to Edward's side and started checking on Nessie.

Everyone was quiet.

"Edward I need you to rush her home. There might not be that much time." Carlisle said.

My eyes got full of tears.

The moment that we had all been afraid of was here.

"Carlisle I…." Edward said.

"You can make it Edward. You know what needs to be done. Go." Carlisle said.

Edward hesitated.

"Go. Now!" Carlisle said.

Edward picked up Nessie in his arms and took off running.

I stood there where I was.

My father came to stand beside and hugged me.

I started to sob.

"Sweetie, I think you should go with Edward. He needs you right now more than ever." My mother said.

I shook my head. "I can't….I can't lose her." I said as I sobbed on my father's chest.

"You have to be strong sweetheart. Your husband and daughter need you. Go with him we will take care of everything here and we'll meet you at home." My mother said.

I took a deep breath and nodded. I cleaned my tears and tried to calm myself.

"Gisselle we'll take the children home." Carlisle said.

I nodded. I took a deep breath and took off running. My parents were right. I needed to calm down and help Edward. My husband and daughter needed me.

I just hoped that Nessie was going to be okay.

She just had to be.

I made it home and ran inside. I followed Edward's scent to Carlisle's office.

Edward was standing by the bed that Nessie was lying on.

She had a breathing machine on and an iv bag.

I went to stand next to Edward and I hugged him.

Edward hugged me tightly to his side.

"Both of you wait in the hallway while I check on her." Carlisle said.

"I don't want to leave her." I said.

"Please. It would be easier on me if I could check on her without y'all looking at me. I'm nervous enough already." He said.

I nodded and turned around. I opened the door and went out to the hallway.

Edward followed.

"She's going to be okay, right?" I asked.

Edward sighed. "I don't know love, I wish I could tell you that it is but I really don't know." Edward said.

I looked down at my hands as my eyes started getting full of tears.

"She's strong. That's all I can tell you, and I know that she will fight." Edward said before he hugged me.

I hugged him back just as the tears started to run down my cheeks.

The door downstairs opened and everyone came in.

"We should go downstairs." Edward said.

I nodded before I cleaned my tears with the back of my hand.

"How is she?" Esme asked as soon as we made it to the stairs.

"Carlisle is checking her right now, but Edward said that her heart beat keeps dropping." I said before I started sobbing. "I don't know what I'm going to do without her." I said before Esme hugged me.

"Oh honey. I'm sorry." She said.

I started crying harder. "I can't lose her." I said.

"She's a strong girl. You won't." Esme said, even though we all knew that it was the complete opposite.

We were going to lose her.

We heard a door open and then close. Then a set of steps that were coming towards the stairs.

I turned around and cleaned my tears.

Carlisle stood at the top of the stairs and looked at us. Then he looked down and walked down the steps.

"How is she?" Rosalie asked.

Carlisle sighed. "I can't do anything about it. Her heart beat picks up and then it slows down. It's out of control. I think that she's on her last few hours." Carlisle said.

Everyone was quiet.

I swallowed and shook my head.

"If anyone wants to spend some time with her you may, but just get ready to say your good-byes. She doesn't have that much time left. She's unconscious for now." Carlisle said.

I covered my mouth to stop the scream that was forming on my chest. I couldn't lose my little girl. I ran up the stairs, passing Carlisle, to the room where Nessie was in. I put my hand on the door knob and took a deep breath. Then I let it out. I opened the door and went in. I left it opened in case that anyone else wanted to come in.

I went to sit down on the chair that was next to the hospital bed. I looked at Nessie and took her hand in both of mine. I bit my lip.

She looked different. As if she had been there for a while. She had lost color on her face. Her hair had lost its shine and texture. She had dark circles under her eyes. It was as if something was consuming her.

Carlisle had put a breathing mask on her.

I couldn't help looking at her and remembering all the memories I had of her.

When I saw her being born. When I saw her start sitting up by herself. When she started crawling and started disappearing on me. The panic she had caused me when I found her outside and hadn't noticed that she had gotten out when she started walking. When she started learning to play the piano and when she started learning to read and write…It was as if it had just happened yesterday.

The baby had I had helped to deliver had grown up so fast right before my eyes, and now she was leaving us. It wasn't her fault, I knew that and I didn't blame her. I wish I could have someone to blame but I couldn't.

It was nobody's fault that she had been born more human than vampire, and that the vampire part was the one that was killing her.

Then Nessie opened her eyes and looked around.

"Nessie? How do you feel?' I asked.

"Where am I?" She asked.

"You're back home. You fainted and your daddy brought you back here so Carlisle could check on you." I told her as I tear escaped.

"Don't cry momma. I want you to be happy." She said.

"I will be once you get better." I told her.

"You know more than anyone that I wont get better momma." She said.

"What do you mean, sweetie?" I asked.

"You have known what has been wrong with me. Everyone knows." She said.

"How long have you been knowing?" I asked.

She swallowed. "For a while now." She said.

I nodded.

"But I want you to be happy once I go. I don't want you to be sad." She said.

"Don't say that." I told her.

She looked down. "I don't have much longer momma. I probably have a few minutes. I just came back to say that I Love you, and to thank you for taking care of me." She said.

"Nessie, don't talk like that. Don't tell me that." I told her.

"I want you to be happy with daddy and my brother and sister. I want you to have more babies with my daddy. I'll probably want a baby brother." She said.

Tears started to run down my cheeks again.

"Daddy." Nessie said.

I turned around to see Edward at the door. He walked to the other side of the bed and took her other hand in his.

Nessie smiled a weak smile. "Daddy, I want you to know that I love you. I'm glad that you decided to forgive me for what Bella did." She said.

"I'm the one that is glad that I was able to spend time with you. That I was able to learn to love you and be with you." Edward said.

Nessie smiled. "Take care of mommy for me." She said.

I closed my eyes as I started to feel like I couldn't breathe. I started to sob. I couldn't take it anymore. I felt how my heart was breaking into a million pieces as she said her good-byes to us.

"Maybe the next time we meet it will be different. In another life where we get more time to spend together." Nessie said just as Carlisle came in with my mother.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Your sister just had an idea. She said that your mother saved someone's life by giving that person some of her blood. So we thought that if we gave Nessie some, she might have a chance." Carlisle said.

I nodded.

"I hope it works sweetheart." My mother said putting a hand on my shoulder.

I nodded again.

Carlisle took some of my mother's blood and gave to Nessie so she could drink.

Nessie took the blood and drank all of it. "I love all of you. Don't forget that." She said before she closed her eyes, and her heart started to slow until it stopped beating.

I started at her with my mouth open. "Nessie?" I asked. My voice breaking in the end.

The machine kept announcing that there was no heartbeat.
