Danny sat there with a scowl on his face and his arms cross, " I don't know what you're talking about. We have like, nothing to talk about." Danny said with as much confidence he could will into his voice when he spoke to the royal Demon in front of him, who could probably rip out his insides quicker then Danny could blink. Said Demon gave the human teen a rasied brow at what he said with a bit of a smirk. Danny knew nothing good ever came from a look like that, no matter who it was, his mom, Jazz, Sam, and especially Phantom.
Phantom clapped his hands together, "Of course there is!" He said a little to brightly for Dannyd liking, " We have much to talk about, such as our wedding, the after party, rules and regulations of the castle, and before we get married we have a ball to plan. You know like a coranation of sorts." Phantom explained and Danny had to use every fiber of his being not to groan out loud. Wasn't a ball just like a fancy dance? Danny hates dancing! Not to mention he's no good at it anyway.
" You mean like a dance? Dude, that's just not gonna work." Danny refused and the look on Phantoms face went dark to the point that it semt chills down the human teens spine and made his stomach curl in on itself.
"And why not Danny?" Phantom asked practically spitting out the others name in anger. Danny knew he had to be careful and play his cards right or he might end up dead.
" What I meant was, that I can't dance and that wouldn't be a very good thing to see. I dance like a whale on dry land." Danny said trying to make a bit of a joke out of the situation in hopes it will put Phantom in a better mood and not want to rip his lungs out. He started to relax once we saw the dark look go away and the others eyes stop shining so intense.
Phantom smiled a little bit and said, "Well why didn't you just say so? I can teach you before the ball, that way you'll be able to hold your own." Danny thought about the offer and it might not be so bad. If he has to dance with Phantom he can at least learn how and not look like a total dweeb doing so.
" Okay, you're on."
"Great! Now to talk about the other things on our long list of musts. I think-"
Danny cut Phantom off, "Sorry but maybe you should tell me the rules and regulations stuff before we jump the gun to marriage. " Danny said politely and Phantom nodded in agreement.
"Very well. As you know there are rules that must be followed, no matter how much you don't want to follow them. Just because you are my Prince to be doesn't mean I won't punish you when you are in the wrong. With that said you must follow the following rules : Rough housing is forooutside only, you must always answer to me, until we are wed you must listen Fright when I give him an order to give to you, must always look your best, you may not leave the castle unattended or unauthorized and no human contraband. " Phantom said eyeing Dannys hat and the human brought it closer to his head.
Danny narrowed his eyes at Phantom "No way, the hat stays. "
Phantom glared back at the human, "You're already breaking rules, take it off at once!"
"No! My mother gave it to me!"
" Then she can buy you a new one!"
"No she can't, she's dead!"
And then there was silence. Danny covered his mouth with both his hands. Why did he say that? He's never told any one that ever! Not even Sam and Tucker, only him, Jazz and his dad knows that Maddie isn't their real mom. " What do you mean? I thought. ..." Phantom started but Danny cut in when he trailed off.
" Our real mom died when I was little, she gave me this hat before she left on a trip that she never came back from. When we knew for sure she was gone we moved and eventually dad got together with an old college friend he use to have a thing for before he met our mom." Danny explained and felt a lump form in his throat. He remembered that day, he was young yes but he was old enough to remember when the police came and knocked on their door saying that his mom was in a horrible car accident and that she didn't make it. His eyes began to burn and poolwwith fresh hot tears that he wouldn't allow to fall down his face.
" I'm sorry to hear that Danny, I'll tell you what you can keep your hat." Phantom said and Danny looked at him with both shock and happiness, " But just the hat." Danny couldn't help but smile at that. Phantom then called Fright in to take him back to his room and said they would talk more about this tomorrow when Danny was in a better emotional state. Maybe Phantom wasn't such a bad guy after all.
Just maybe.
