OMG, I know, too long but I finally found some time to write the epilogue.
It's been a while but I kinda still remember the exact ending I wanted. Had to wing the rest of the smaller details.
Hope you'll like it!
Unbeta-ed! Just a reminder, English is still not my native language.
It has been months since the last battle with the aliens. Everything was back to normal. Thor has gone back to Asgard, along with Sif and the Warriors Three. he was heart-broken when Loki died but he held on hopes that he would meet his brother again.
The Avengers did not know what happened with the Warriors Three but under Thor's and Sif's relentless advocacy, their long-time friends were permanently exiled from Asgard for the despicable injustices they had done to Loki.
As for the other Avengers, they continued on with their lives on Midgard.
True to his word, Tony had given up drinking and because of that, he became a lesser asshole than he previously was.
With Tony's promise of protection, Bruce stayed on in the Avengers Tower and worked on his own experiments there. He would sometimes help Tony with his inventions too.
Clint and Natasha continued their usual super spies activities, though they still hold a grudge with the other Avengers for the latest Loki debacle.
And Steve. Steve carried on his daily tasks as usual. He missed Loki but he knew if he were in the same situation, he would probably make the same decision. He regrets the lost opportunity because he knew that he and Loki would have been great friends.
He was still thinking about his regrets when he opened the door to his bedroom and saw a mysterious bundle on his bed. A mysterious bundle that moved. A mysterious bundle that cried. Like a baby.
"Go ahead, pick him up," a voice behind him said, startling him.
When Steve turned to the voice, he saw a woman dressed in all black long dress, with a hood over her head. As she looked up to meet his stare, his eyes widened when he saw her face: half of her face looked as if it was rotten.
"Please excuse my appearance, I can wear a glamor but I don't see any reason to," the woman said.
Steve looked away, silently chiding himself for being rude, "I'm sorry, you just caught me by surprise."
The woman waved her hand, "No matter."
"Is this your baby, ma'am?"
She shooked her head.
Steve narrowed his eyes, "Did you take this baby from someone else?"
The woman laughed.
"He told me you're smart. I have yet to see that," the woman chuckled.
Her laughter suddenly jolted his memory of reading up Norse mythologies to learn about Loki and Thor, "You're Hela. You are Loki's daughter."
The woman laughed again, a laughter that reminded him so much of Loki, "Yes, I am his daughter."
A sudden realization dawned on Steve, "Is this Loki?"
The woman gave him a sad smile and said, " Yes. And no."
And the not-Loki baby started to cry. As if working on instinct, Steve went to the baby and picked him up, shushing him as he lightly bounced the baby in his arms.
"What do you mean?" Steve asked when the baby stopped crying. He looked to be about a year old.
Hela walked towards them and lightly traced her finger on the baby's cheeks, "He still had some raw magic left in him when he arrived at the gate of my kingdom, and so I used that to preserve the last of his energy. And because the raw magic was not his, the person he once was now no longer exists. But there is still some of his existing energy in him that he is still Loki, in some ways. But he is no longer a god. And so, he will no longer be tied to any fates or destinies that Loki was once tied to."
"My father told me about you and what happened on Midgard and Asgard. While he was mourning the loss of my brother, he told me that you would be a wonderful father if given a chance. And so here I am, offering you this chance."
Steve looked at Hela in disbelief, " But what about you? Won't you miss him?"
"My father deserve a chance at happiness. I will never begrudge him that. Mayhap I will see him again someday," Hela said melancholically.
Steve looked at the now sleeping baby in his arms. 'A father. I'm going to be a father.'
'A man with a heart as big as yours, Captain, you're going to be a wonderful father,' Loki's words rang in his ears.
'I won't let you down, Loki,' Steve looked at the baby and made a promise.
"Does he have a name?" Steve asked as he put the sleeping baby down on his bed.
"Serrure."
Yup, all these chapters was just because I wanted Loki to become Serrure and have a clean slate with Steve as his father.
What the hell happened in between? I have no idea, the story just got away from me. XP
Sorry it took so long, and I hope you enjoyed the ride, leave a review if you can!
With Love,
