Apparently he was wrong.
As time went on and Phantom taught Danny more and more about fighting, dancing and other necessary royal duties; they were getting closer to each other and Danny hated to admit it, but he was starting to really like Phantom. (He wouldn't even admit to himself that he was falling in love.) Danny was getting better at fighting, also at the same time that he knew he would be no where near the same level as Fright or Phantom for a very long time.
When they found time to dance with one another, Danny found he was even better at that. Well, he isn't stepping on Phantoms toes anymore so that's a great start.
Plasmuis was still on the loose, so the whole Kingdom was on it's toes. Danny was never to be left alone, as ordered by Phantom. He was either with the King himself or with Fright Knight, both made sure to make him train for hours a day. In a way he was grateful for all the labour he was being put through, he was becoming more fit and was lasting longer a little more each day.
Everyday after training, him and Phantom would have dinner together (Heavily guarded) and just talk about everything and anything they could think of. Danny told Phantom about his life back home, his friends and family how everything was, the ups and downs. "If this is too hard to talk about, you don't have to." Phantom was referring to Danny talking about his real mother. He might have been young when he lost her but he still remembers her as if she left yesterday.
"Huh?" Danny sniffed and whipped the tears away that threatened to spill out. "No, it's fine. Plus I hear it's better to talk about these things."
"Ah, I see. But still." Phantom said, not wanting to upset his future Prince.
"Um." Danny started. "You can talk about yourself if you'd like. Change the topic maybe?"
"Ah yes, very well." Phantom was thinking of something to talk about but nothing really came to mind. Other than talking about the wedding and why Danny wasn't his first consort. Both not real mood lifters, for Danny anyway. "Umm..."
"How were you appointed King?" Danny asked, giving himself a pat on the back for sounding so grown up and royal.
Smiling, Phantom answered "Well you see, my father was the last King. He has moved on to the resting relem, may he rest in peace. He had to choose between myself and the Prince of the farther end of the Ghost Zone, Plasmius." Phantom paused to take a calming breath, just saying the creatures name made him upset. "He choose me. At first, Plasmius tried very hard to try and whoo me if you will" Phantom cringed at the thought of Plasmuis trying to feel him up. "When I didn't give into his advances, he was outraged and took his anger out on the Kingdom. Much like now."
"What happened?" Danny asked in a soft voice, he was going to find out sooner or later. Might as well get it out of the way.
Sighing, Phantom went on "Before Plasmius was caught and thrown in Walkers prison, he sucked the life forces from all my last consorts. Not just them, but anyone he could get his hands on out of spite." Phantom saw Danny pale from his words and quickly added, "But that happened to them, because I didn't train them like I am you. That's why I am doing this, I don't want to lose you Danny." Phantom put his gloved hand a top of Dannys, he smiled sweetly at him making Danny return his smile, a real smile.
Maybe Phantom really wasn't that bad a guy. By the sounds of things, he has had a life that is way harder than Dannys. Maybe he should cut the guy some slack? "I wouldn't want to lose you either." Danny said shyly, his cheeks dusting pink. It was the truth. Might as well put it out there.
"Danny?"
"Yes?"
"Would," Why was Phantom shy all of a sudden? He never gets shy! He commands power and respect, he doesn't get shy. "Would you mind if I kissed you?"
Danny was taken aback by the proposal, but flattered that the soon-to-be King would even ask permission. How bad could it be? With a hesitant gulp, Danny answered "I guess so."
Smiling broadly, Phantom moved around the table so that he was at Dannys side, said boy stood up to look the other in the eyes. Those perfectly green eyes that he could just swim in. Out of the corner of his eye, Danny could see Phantoms white glove cup his on both sides just before he slowly leaned in and placed his icy cold lips on Dannys warm ones.
Dannys hands flew to Phantoms shoulders, torn between bringing him closer and pushing him away. Kissing Phantom wasn't as bad as he thought it was going to be. The cold feeling made him gasp, giving Phantom access to his mouth. One of Phantoms hands left his face and went down to his waist, bringing him closer to the point that no space was left between them. He wasn't sure how, but somehow Danny ended up pinned to the wall while practically making-out with Phantom in the dinning hall. Danny soon slide his arms around Phantoms neck while tilting his head to give the other better access to his mouth.
Never in his life has he kissed someone like this. It's all tongue, hormones, want, and need rolled into one kiss.
Finally pulling away to take in a lung full of air, Danny was panting, his blue eyes glazed over with want; something that Phantom didn't miss. "So, I take it that was an alright kiss then?" Phantom asked, feeling very smug.
"Yeah." Danny breathed, "You could say that."
Smiling once more, Phantom gave him a light peck on his lips before pulling away. "I'm sorry, am I interrupting a private moment?" Both Phantom and Danny stared at one another with wide eyes.
What a mood killer.
Phantoms face turned dark and angry, his eyes fully green. "Plasmius, of all the times you choose to show your ugly face." He than began to charge an ecto-vlast in the palm of his hand. "Boy, are you going to be sorry."
