Chapter 8. Hide and Seek
The two boys waited on their loved door step. It was now impossible to go up to the surface as guards had stations on every part of the way up. This didn't sit too well with Levi. Never will he get clean water and never will any of them get to see the sky at night. Isabel only say it once with them before they could no longer go out.
"Where is she?" Farlan asks impatiently.
"It's her first time alone, Farlan." Levi chews on his smoking pipe, secretly worried for her.
"She was alone before us."
"She only got it from us, idiot. Things are different now."
As if on queue, Isabel came round the corner with a sack stuffed with bread, clean water and a few apples. A grin spreads across her face of proudness.
"I did it!" She celebrates. "I didn't get caught!"
"Isabel, keep your voice down!" Farlan instructed. .p
It was too late. Footsteps and loud men voices were heard. They threw curses at each other trying to instruct each other on where to go. They were so disorganised, Levi and Farlan were sure
"The boy went that way!" A man from the street rats them out for the money.
The footsteps became louder.
"You've got to be fuckin' kidding me." Levi mutters.
He stands up and runs down the steps. He grabs Isabel and drags her quickly behind him as they leg it, Farlan right behind. Isabel could never keep up.
Levi made swift turning movements, corner to corner making sure they could never keep up and never follow. It didn't take long to out run them. That wasn't the biggest issue. The biggest issue is now they have lost their place to stay. Usually one person was always there to look after the door step, by one; Levi or Farlan, but now Levi was sure someone just took it for their new home.
"Big brother!" Isabel shrieks.
"Levi, we lost them." Farlan confirms.
Levi makes one last quick turn around the corner for the three to rest. Farlan rubs his temples, massaging them till his headache eased a bit.
"Are you kidding me Isabel?! Rule number one! Don't get caught! Rule number two, don't get caught!"
"Shut-up Farlan! I didn't mean for this to happen!" Isabel childishly sticks out her tongue.
"Isabel!"
The cold, stern harshness of Levi 's voice caused her to cower away from him. She gulps and lays her emerald eyes on his back, frightened and uneasy.
"I'm sorry big brother." She innocently says, looking down at her dirt feet. "I tried. I failed."
"Shit happens. You're not ready yet to be in your own. That's my fault for putting you out too early."
"No, no. It was my fault. I was too careless to notice."
"So you admit it," Farlan hisses.
"Shut-up Farlan!"
Levi looks around at his surroundings slowly. It was a pretty much empty street apart from the dead corps lying just across from them and a gang at the back with gruesome smiles and pocket knives.
"Both of you listen carefully." Levi keeps his voice low, eyes still in the gang who have now turned to meet his gaze. Isabel and Farlan stop their childish bickering to pay close attention.
"It's not safe to be here."
That was all Levi needed to say. Without another word, the two children followed the smallest out of the alley, away from the gang. But it wasn't enough. The gang had caught glance of the small children and were living their lips like the disgusting creatures they were. They were following slowly behind, getting ready to spring.
Levi knew this. Farlan knew this. Even Isabel knew this. However, they kept quiet. Their heads stayed low waiting for the signal.
Levi reached a junction in the street and stopped bang in the middle. He closed his eyes and took a deep sigh. This was going to be difficult now that they didn't have a place that is there's. Levi also hasn't been to this side of the underground.
"Farlan," he mutters, catching the tallest's attention.
Farlan nodded, understand what he's being asked. Farlan looks around, quickly taking in his surroundings.
"Here is best."
Levi closed his eyes. The gang casually got closer to the three, thinking they have the advantage. Just as the leader took a step forward, Levi threw opp poem his eyes and ran forward. Isabel upon seeing his eyes open took herself to the left and Farlan to the right.
"HEY!" The gang leader spat, not expecting the trio to split. "GO AFTER THEM!"
The gang split up three forward, three right and two left.
Levi sprints down the up the street. His speed was pretty much impossible to keep up with. It wasn't long before he was doing circles around the group without them knowing. The gang lost sight of him through a maze of buildings.
Levi however never lost sight. He found old boxes and crates at a corner against one of the lower down walls of a building. Without a second thought, he climbs up onto the buildings watching the gang look around for him.
He cleverly kept low and moved slyly like a cat, almost unseen. If he had weapons, he'd take the three down right now. They'd be nothing. Just a sack of meat, bones and blood. Easy to piece and destroy.
Watching them leave in an opposite direction pleased him. Using the drains, he climbs down the walls and runs back where he came from.
Farlan turned to the right and kept going. This was going to be tough. Turning the corner to the left, he covered himself in dirt and lay down with the other bodies around him. He kept his face hidden and fluffed up his hair.
They ran passed him without a second glance. Watching them run by and turn away, did Farlan get up and ran back to the way he came. He was the first to be in the middle.
Isabel ran left and kept running. She knew the score with these guys. She experienced the horror about a year ago. Turning a wrong corner, she found herself at a dead end.
She looked back hearing them getting closer. That's when she saw a dead body on the ground. In his hands, a knife was loosely held. She grabbed the knife and jumped into a vase, knowing to well it wasn't going to help much.
The two turned the corner, "Hey, boy!" Yelled one. "Where the fuck did you go?"
There wasn't much to look at. A dead body, few planks of wood, and a vase. The two boys smiled smuggly at each other and walked to the vase. The one with the dirty hat and glowing eyes put his hand down the vase, picking up Isabel by the scruff of her neck with ease.
"Hey there little guy." Isabel just looked up with fear. Our boss just wants to say high to ya, doesn't he Ryan?"
The guy smiled at the guy with ginger hair and freckles. "Sure thing Ed."
"Now, now. Don't be frightened. You see, Ryan and I aren't into little boys. Our boss however, just loves things to fuck no matter what gender they are. It's this dick right here..."
Ed grabs Isabel's crotch.
"That saves you from us."
Ed's smile disappeared into shock. For he felt it. Nothing was there to be grabbed.
"Oh shit, now this is rare."
"What is?" Ryan asks before Ed puts Isabel in his arms. He pulls down her trousers and feasts his eyes on her, drinking it all in.
"She ain't no boy." Ed smiles. "A girl on the street who doesn't need to be bought by a seller or isn't a prostitute and this young!? How rare." The more he looks at her face the more he sees the feminine beauty, wondering how he never noticed it before till now.
"You're kidding!" Ryan gasps. He pins Isabel up against a wall just to see her for himself.
"Wow!" He gasps as if it's his first time seeing female parts.
"Pretty, ain't it." Ed looks at her. "Sorry, but there's no dick to save you." He smiles and begins to lower his trousers.
"But Ed, the boss!"
"Yeah, I know I know but this is our little secret, right cutie?" He smiles his black-yellow teeth at Isabel. He moved in closer.
"Good girl, she don't struggling. It will hurt less if you keep this-" he didnt get to finish his sentence. He got to close. Up Isabel's sleeve was the knife and when Ed got too close, Isabel put the knife in his stomach and twisted in deep before pulling out.
Ed dropped to his knees and began bleeding out.
"ED!" Yelled Ryan.
While he was still in shock, Isabel had already jumped him and stabbed his neck. He dropped in pain and Isabel fixed herself up. With the knife she swivels it sounds to cut his throat out immediately.
Ryan died instantly while Ed watched. With the knife, Isabel stabbed Ed over and over again fifteen times till she was sure he Wouldn't get up again.
With no regret or remorse, she ran back.
Levi had been waiting with Farlan.
"Where is she?" Farlan hissed through his teeth. Then they heard the young girl clump around the corner covered in someone else's blood and a knife.
"Isabel, what did you do?!" Farlan asked, taking in her appearance.
"What I had to." Her voice was dangerous and viscous. Her eyes poison to look at.
Levi nodded and the three ran down the junction where they came from. They green began to run towards the outside of the city, away from civilisation itself.
I wrote more than this because I hadn't updated in a while but when I clicked save, it said, "please log in" and it deleted everything and I need to calm down and post this because I'm too tired.
I apologize for not updating. My laptop broke and I couldn't do anything! Couldn't work, couldn't read Fanfiction or write it. I stole my sister's iPad but she found out. Then I got a kindle and here I am. It's difficult to write on this so if there's any spelling mistakes, I'm really sorry, my fault. If there is any weird words that is just so random, I apologise, auto correct happened. If you do see anything wrong, I'll fix it later. Thanks for reading!
