"Lynn?" I heard someone say as they shook my body. I lifted up two inches off the bed, stretched, and then fell back down on the bed and curled into a ball, hugging a pillow. I heard someone laugh as they said, "Come one Lynn. I got breakfast for you downstairs." The thought of food had my stomach growling with anticipation. I moaned as I sat up and stretched my arms. I looked over to the door to see Zak wearing nothing but a pair of sleep pants. I smiled enjoying the view. I reached down to pull the sheets off of me when I realized this wasn't my bed. I looked around and noticed it wasn't the guest room. It was Zak's. How the hell did I-? You know what nevermind I thought as I shook my head and continued to climb out of bed and walk over to Zak.
"What was that look for?" he asked when I got to where he was.
"Nothing. My brain's just fried." I said not wanting to ask the question of how I ended up in his bed. I turned him around and gently shoved him out of the room, down the stairs and into the kitchen before sitting down at the island where there were two plates with fruit, toast, eggs, and sausage. Not exactly the nice big fat greasy plate of biscuits and gravy I was thinking but it was food and even better I didn't have to cook it this time so I wasn't about to complain. I grabbed a fork and started eating. It wasn't half bad. After I finished eating I rinsed my dishes off then went upstairs to take a shower and change clothes. I went back downstairs in a pair of flare blue jeans and a dark blue T-shirt that had a yellow horse on it. Zak was sitting on the couch, still in his pajamas. I cocked my head to the side in confusion.
"What?" he asked.
"Why aren't you getting dressed?"
"Should I be?"
"You normally are. I mean it's eight thirty. Don't you have to go to work soon?"
"Not today. Today is all about you, me, and the kids. If anything major comes up they'll call."
"Kids?" I smile.
"You know who I mean," he countered.
"So pretty much I got dressed for nothing."
"Yep."
"Well nnnnhh" I said sticking my tongue out at him before sitting next to him. Without thinking I automatically curled into a ball at his side wrapping my arms around his waist and resting my head on his chest. Then a thought hit me, "Speaking of which where are the dogs?"
"Out back playing," he said as he draped his arm across my shoulders, "I left the door open so they can get back in."
"Ooooohhhh. So since you don't have to go to work what do you want to do?"
"I don't really care. Whatever you feel like doing is fine with me."
"Well in the spirit of being lazy how about we watch some tv?" I suggested.
Zak leaned forward and grabbed the remote sitting on the coffee table then pulled me back into his side so I could lay my head against his chest again. The tv was still on the Investigation Discovery channel. I couldn't tell right away which show it was but the format looked familiar so I faintly jumped in excitement hoping I was correct on which show it was. I felt Zak let out a small laugh under his breath as he set the remote down beside him and settled farther into the couch.
Four hours later Zak was half laying down on the couch, one leg sitting up the other laying down but slightly bent at the knee, with me sitting in the middle my back flush against his upper torso. On The Case With Paula Zahn had come on so I started to flip through the guide and see what else was on. When I made it to the Starz movie section I came across the movie Vampire Academy. I sucked in a breath and drew out a soft groan.
"What?" Zak asked.
"I don't know if I wanna," I started leaving the movie title highlighted, "On the one hand it could be really good and actually follow the book like it's supposed to but then again it could be really horrible and butcher the entire storyline like they did with the Vampire Diaries series and the Secret Circle. So I don't know."
"Well you're not ever going to know if you don't try."
I drew in another breath for courage, "Fine," I agreed and hit select.
At first I was really starting to like it. I mean sure some things were off but nothing I couldn't overlook until it got to the part where Rose and Natalie were talking.
"…I'm totally crushing on my mentor right now who's old enough to be—well, not my dad, but"
I hit the up button on the remote to quickly change the channel then threw the remote down and started yelling at the TV. "No! No! No! No! No! NO! How dare you you stupid nah! Just NAAAAHHHH! And AAAAAHHHH! NAAAAAHHHHH!" I glared at the TV for a minute to mad to form coherent words. "Grrrrr. Never again. I refuse. I absolutely refuse." I said crossing my arms and letting out a huff of anger.
Zak just started laughing hysterically at my reaction. I looked up at him and just glared.
"Why are you so mad at the TV?" He asked after he stopped laughing.
"I'm not mad at the TV. I'm mad at the stupid people who made the movie."
He started smiling, "Why?"
"Because they broke RULE NUMBER ONE!" I said throwing my hands down at each word for emphasis, "within like five minutes." He raised an eyebrow at me. I sighed then explained, "The movie is based off of a book series. One that I am a die hard fan of. Book one is about two of the four main characters falling in love and denying said love because of the whole student/teacher thing. Book two is about them admitting their love and hiding it from everyone else. They tell NO ONE. It's not until the end of book three that the other main characters find out at which point the dude ends up turning into the undead. Book four is about the main main character hunting down her love. Book five is about Lissa turning dude back to normal which is like totally unheard of. Then book six is him reconciling for the things he did while undead and the two lovebirds officially coming out in the open with their relationship. This movie is just for book one and she just told some random chick who is actually an enemy of hers all about her secret within five minutes of being around her. NO!"
Zak just chuckled and shook his head, "Put you in a bar full of drunk men and you're completely unphased. Turn one movie on and you go off like nobody's business."
"Shut up," I said half-heartedly then leaned over and grabbed the remote from where I threw it and started flipping channels again until I found River Monsters.
Half way through the episode Zak got up to let the dogs in and shut the door before grabbing us something to snack on then returning to his spot on the couch. We stayed up all night just watching TV.
