Thank you all for the lovely reviews. You all encourage me to write and share my ideas :)
I've decided to try to update as often as I could because of how inactive I was and that in three weeks time I would be starting my A level exams.
I think this chapter is one of my best so far, I tried my best to make it as interesting as possible but we'll see how you guys find it. Enjoy!
"Magic. It was magic, and the magic is called love." - Alex Flinn, Beastly
They had decided to check out the zoo on the weekend. Austin had suggested they skip school but of course, Ally wouldn't budge.
Austin decided with a comfortable white t-shirt and his signature pair of jeans and ran down the stairs to kiss his mother's cheek. "Good morning."
Mimi watched as her son smiled ear to ear and grabbed himself a cup of coffee. It was unusual to see her son like that. God knows when it was the last time Austin had even shared an honest smile.
"Everything okay Austin?"
It took him several seconds to come out of his daze and look to where the question came from. "Yeap."
And it was. Everything felt so right at that moment. He hadn't seen Ally since he dropped her home and to say he didn't miss her would be a lie. He was so content with the fact that he would be with Ally again. Alone. No Dez, no weird murmurs and stares. It would just be the two of them. Austin insisted to himself that it meant nothing. It was just like Dez asking to go to the zoo. It was just like that. Exactly like that.
Well…if he really had to be honest, like if a gun was pointed at him, then he would have to admit that ever since he was alone with Ally during that sunset, he wanted to keep feeling like that. Whatever that was.
"Thank you for the lovely barbecue Austin. I had a lot of fun." Ally smiled as they reached her driveway.
Austin nodded and after a few seconds of silence, he realised she couldn't see that. "Ah yeah. It was. I'm glad you came."
"Remember. Zoo."
"Yes ma'am."
She blushed at what he had called her and tiptoed to hold his face. Austin's breathing hitched and it must have been about thirty seconds for him to breathe out after Ally kissed his cheek. "Thank you for everything Austin. Keep that kind heart of yours polished."
"That Ally girl seemed really nice Austin. I didn't know a girl like that would be into you." His mum teased.
That broke Austin's thoughts. "It's not like that mum. We're just friends."
Mimi nodded and smiled behind her raised mug.

Ally was squealing for five minutes straight sitting shot gun in Austin's car. He had find it incredibly adorable at first but after a few minutes he had to turn on the radio to keep her quiet. She was quiet for a while and started singing along to the song.
Glancing back and forth at her, with her hair flying behind her as the wind blew inside the car, she was gorgeous. She had worn a dress that fit her right on her waist, with floral prints and a cardigan to complete the look. It took sometime to realise that Ally could sing. Not moderately good. She was good.
"You're good." He said, reflecting his thoughts.
"I can't be just blind and not talented."
"Smug aren't 'cha."
She giggled and they both sang their lungs out for the rest of the drive to the zoo.
It was a peaceful day at the zoo. A moderate amount of kids running around with their friends and families. Food trucks lined up behind each other, accompanied by tables with umbrellas. A mother was wiping her son's face that was covered with ice cream, with the dad occupied with his cell phone next to them. Austin frowned at the sight that triggered a distant memory.
"Where do we start?" Ally interrupted his thought.
They started with the first row of animals, first monkeys that were followed with chimpanzees that were both trying to have a competition at who could be the loudest. Ally laughed at the sounds embracing her all at once and closed her eyes to take it all in. Her excitement for today caused her to miss a few hours of sleep. Needless to say, those missed hours were worth it.
They had walked to almost every inch of the zoo - except the lion den because Austin was too scared to go near it, or with his words "not safe for you, Ally" - and had gotten themselves a few cups of ice cream. Ally blushed as Austin wiped the excess of her vanilla ice cream off the side of her lips. She felt bad that he had wanted to pay for each one of them, so she allowed him to steal a few scoops of her ice cream.
Lastly, they walked side by side to the large pond and was welcomed by the sound of geese.
Ally was grinning at this point and the two sat by the bench closest to the pond. "I want a goose." Ally beamed.
"Yeah. And what would you name it?"
"Pickles."
Austin laughed and looked over at the girl beaming and staring blankly at the pond. How could someone look so happy, without actually being able to look? He knew how messed up life could be, but Ally made it seem that not being able to experience life by seeing it was more than exciting.
"Do you ever want to see Ally?" He asked the question that had been lingering in his mind. "Like, do you hate being blind?"
Ally stayed quiet, thinking about his question like a test she forgot to study. She was never around too many people. She wasn't used to anyone asking her such blunt questions the way Austin did.
The people that were around her always thought of her as someone fragile and treated blindness as a form of taboo. Even her own parents talked to hear as if she were a baby. Constantly asking if she was alright. She knew they meant well, but it didn't mean she had to like it.
"I don't know." She finally admitted. "I never knew what it was like to see things, so I can't say I hate the state I'm in, since I don't know what that other state feels like."
They were accompanied by silence before Ally spoke again. "Remember when you asked me what I wanted to see the most if I could?"
"Yeah?"
"I'd want to see you."

It was such a simple sentence. It probably wouldn't mean much if anyone else had said it. Those words triggered something inside of him. Almost…like a feeling of being wanted. Growing up, with his messed up family, he never felt wanted. Of course at school the girls wanted him, but not in the way Ally made him feel just now. He didn't know what to do with this growing feeling inside his stomach. It felt funny.
The car ride back home was silent, with only his loud mind flowing with thoughts that didn't care to stop. What was this feeling? There were only a few emotions he had ever felt; anger, sadness and arrogance. Mostly anger.
Before he realised it, he had stopped by Ally's driveway. The sun was still up, so it couldn't be later than four o' clock.
"We're here." Austin announced. He paused his train of thoughts and look at the girl sitting next to her. A few drops of ice cream had fell on her dress that had made Austin snort a few times, and she had spent ten minutes trying to wipe them away.
His eyes moved to her wrist which had a bracelet with a pendant in the shape of a goose he had insisted to buy for her at the gift shop. It wasn't much, but it made her squeal in delight.
"Thank you for today Austin. You have no idea how much it means to me." She turned to look at him, and for a split second, he could swear she locked eyes with him.
"It was nothing." Austin assured her.
"No, Austin. It wasn't nothing. You have made me so happy. Thank you."
It was true. Austin Moon had never been popular for being nice, and yet here he was, dropping her off from the zoo at her request. Her parents tried to give her everything she had wanted, but she knew it was because they felt sorry for the way she was. With Austin, it was different. He had been kind to her because he had wanted to be.
Austin watched her twirl the new pendant around her finger and without second thoughts, he leaned closer. The only thing keeping him from pulling back was the fact that at this moment she couldn't see how stupid, irrational and scared he was.
After re-reading all the reviews you guys have left for me for this story, I came across one that had asked for me to put cliffhangers here and there. I hated the thought of cliffhangers (they're cruel!) but they do make the story much more interesting. I'll try to end some chapters that way but don't count on it every time :)
