Hi all. Yes, I know it's been AGES since I posted anything here. But the sad truth is I dont know when or if I'll ever finish this story. :( Once I start a story, it plays out my head like a cartoon on fast forward. Often it goes by faster than I can write it down, and if it gets to the end in my head before I write that down, I have a lot of trrouble finishing actually writing it down to get it out of my head. Usually because a new story idea has popped up to take its place by than. :( Does anybody else have a problem like this? Any ideas how to work around it? I'm considering doing one-shots and short stories for awhile to see if that helps.
This was my first ever attempt at a long storyline. Looking at it now and realizing just how long its been since my last post makes me feel bad for leaving you all hanging for so long. :( I know I certainly don't like it when my favorite stories suddenly drop off with a cliffhanger never to be finished.
So here's something to try give all of you dear readers, and my beta reader, at least SOME sense of closure.
I only have the most basic ideas of where the story would have gone. So here's how it would have ended:
Between chapters 16-18:
Everybody gets captured by the Dark Dragon, Chang, and Jake. Rose tries to rescue them but is captured too.
The Dark Dragon decides to have Rose and Jake fight to the death (to see which one would really make a better apprentice), and has Chang shoot Rose with a dart to suppress her powers.
After chapter 18:
Rose kills Jake in self defense and is mortified. The Dark Dragon hears Jake's final roar and knows somebody just died but he isn't sure who. He decides to keep the prisoners waiting in suspense and doesn't send Chang over to see what happened.
Meanwhile, the Grim Reaper comes to get Jake, but since they're friends, he offers Jake an out. If Jake can beat him in a contest, he can return to the living. I wasn't exactly sure what the contest would be but probably stateboarding.
Jake wins, and is sent back, freed from the Dark Dragon's spell and cleansed of the magic that had been corrupting him. Rose is overjoyed to have him back and back to normal again. His colors have returned to normal as well, so they paint him black again with supplies found in a crate.
In order to rescue the others, they pretend Rose is dead. Jake carries Rose back and the as the Dark Dragon gloats over the victory, Jake descretly frees the others. Chang notices the odd behavior, but realizes the trick and decides not to interfere.
With the prisoners free, Rose leads them in an all out attack. Hijinks ensue as the humans use whatever they can find in the warehouse to fight with. Example: Spud uses magical supplies and tricks from a book on magic miming to trap Chang in an invisable box.
Eventually, 88 and 89 light off a box of fireworks and set the warehouse ablaze.
Everyone escapes, except the Dark Dragon, who is pinned under pieces of the roof. He calls to Chang for help, but she abandons him. As the smoke overwhelms him, the Grim Reaper comes calling, along with the Dark Dragon's long dead twin sister...
Outside, the others hear his final scream and turn to see what happened. They see the Grim Reaper and the spirits of both the Dark Dragon and his sister approaching.
Rose and her twin sister talk with the white dragon's ghost and Rose is offered the chance to give up her dragon powers if she wants.
I had three options here that I could see, but didn't know which I wanted to go with: 1 Rose keeps her dragon powers. 2 Rose gives her powers to her twin sister and stays human. 3 Rose gives up her dragon power completely and they both stay human.
After that, everybody heads home for some much needed rest. I was also debating bringing Lao Shi back to life with him only having been in a coma and the Grim Reaper mentioning to Jake as he sent him back to the living that his gramps had also won the reaper's game and earned a second life. Meanwhile Trixie uses her biology lessons to act as a doctor and give the newly revived gramps first aid until the others arrive to help. But I was unsure if that would be considered to much of a cop out or not...
Anyway, then we go to a time skip and if Rose or her sister kept the dragon powers, then they would go through the three dragon student trials set by the dragon council and pass.
Time skip a little more, and things have returned to normal for everybody. Chang was captured and jailed. Spud, 88, and 89 start a band ("Spud and the Two Huntsdudes"), Trixie continues her plans to become a doctor, Fu Dog keeps the shop going, and Jake and Rose get engaged. Rose's twin helps the gang out where she can, either with or without dragon powers.
The story ends with Jake and Rose getting married. 88, 89, and the Grim Reaper play a prank by making the wedding cake explode on poor Professor Rotwood and Dragon Councilor Kukulkan. Rose chases them all down with her hunting staff (in full bridal dress), Spud plays in a magical band with several others of the group to play the American Dragon: Jake Ling theme song, and Jake and Rose fly off for their honeymoon after a last group photo.
The End
Hope you guys enjoyed. Feel free to write out these scenes in more detail for yourselves! I might ho back and rewrite this whole story one day, if only to clean it up some.
Feel free to check out my other stories too. :)
Until next time,
