Alex Mercer stepped up to the gates of CapsuleCorp and smirked. He'd heard of an incredibly powerful alien being that lived there and was eager to add its power to his own. Changing his arms into massive hammer-like fists, he effortlessly sent the gate flying with one punch. "Soon, no one will ever even DREAM of challenging me." He smirked, walking in.

Meanwhile, Vegeta was training in his gravity ship when he felt a powerful life force out of nowhere. Whatever it was didn't use ki, but it was still very powerful and made very little attempt to hide itself. It was also incredibly sinister and made the Saiyan Prince's skin crawl, almost reminding him of Frieza. He immediately burst out and flew in just as he heard Bulma scream. Vegeta entered the room his wife was in and looked in horror to see a hooded man holding her by the throat with his left hand, his right hand being a strange, twisted claw, about to slash his wife into pieces. "Back off!" Vegeta shouted, flying in and slamming his fist into Mercer's face, causing him to drop Bulma and sending him flying out of the building. Vegeta knelt down beside Bulma, checking her for injuries. "Bulma! Are you alright!?" He asked frantically.

"I'm fine. You have to stop him, Vegeta! That guy's dangerous!" Bulma said.

"I planned on it. I won't let anyone get away with trying to hurt my family!" He shouted, flying after Mercer.

Vegeta stopped about 20 feet from Mercer, who stood up with little effort and cracked his neck a bit. "Not bad. Certainly not the worst hit I've ever taken. But if that's all you've got, this might have been for nothing." He said.

"Trust me, I have plenty more to offer, ESPECIALLY after what you've just done!" Vegeta said, flying in.

Vegeta rushed in at Mercer, who swung his still-clawed right hand at the Saiyan, who easily stopped it, much to the walking virus' surprise, before Vegeta once again slammed his fist into Mercer's face, sending him flying into a building behind him. Mercer cringed at the damage, looking up just in time to see Vegeta fly in at him again and with a kick, sent him through the building. After breaking through the back wall, Mercer rolled back and switched tactics, changing his left arm into a claw and the right one into his menacing blade. As Vegeta flew in again, Mercer swung his blade, but Vegeta easily stopped it with his forearm. This again shocked Mercer, who thrusted his claw forward to imaple Vegeta through the chest, but Vegeta again caught him by the wrist, moving the arm stopping the blade to Mercer's shoulder, pulling him in and headbutting him, staggering the self-proclaimed god, who held his face, before looking up and seeing Vegeta fire a powerful ki blast at him. "Go to hell!" The Saiyan Prince shouted, firing at Mercer, who managed to block it with his blade in time, but this still sent him flying a good distance before he hit the ground, tearing it up as he smashed through it, sprawling a great distance away before he managed to sink his claw into the ground and stop his uncontrollable tumble. "You've lost an arm." Vegeta said, noticing that the arm that once was a blade was completely gone.

Mercer scoffed at this. "It's no problem. It will grow back." He said, true to his word, his arm almost instantly regrew. "Alright, then. I wasn't thinking I'd need to use this, but you've forced my hand." He said, encasing himself in his armor.

"So, you can transform as well. That means you're being serious. Then show me." Vegeta said, getting ready to charge again.

"With pleasure." Mercer said, rushing in, claws at the ready, Vegeta flying in as well. The two collided, locking hands and Vegeta started pushing Mercer back, but the virus simply made spikes come out the bottom of his feet, anchoring him in place. With his full strength, Mercer managed to push Vegeta back slightly and started furiously slashing outward with his claws. Vegeta still managed to dodge the attacks and throw some of his own, but the seemed to be doing quite a bit less than before and it felt to Vegeta like he had just punched a steel wall: it didn't hurt, but it was harder than punching him before. However, seeing he still wasn't landing any hits, Mercer jumped back a bit and fire a massive amount of tendrils out of his body towards the Saiyan Prince. This managed to catch Vegeta off-guard and while he avoided the worst of it, he still took some decent cuts on his arms, legs, sides and one on his cheek.

"That wasn't bad. Now then, I think it's time I stopped toying around and finish you off!" He said, powering up to Super Saiyan and flying in, slamming his fist into Mercer, who tried to anchor his feet again, but the force completely ripped out that chunk of the ground and sent it flying along with Mercer. Mercer recovered and launched his tendrils again, but this time, Vegeta was both ready and much faster, dodging all the tendrils and delivering a powerful kick to the side of Mercer's head, sending him sprawling across the ground once more.

Mercer got to his hands and knees, rearing back before slamming his hands into the ground, causing a massive quake. Sensing trouble, Vegeta quickly took to the air just before massive spikes rose from the ground, impaling a large number of vehicles and people. "He's a monster! I can't allow this! Die!" Vegeta shouted, flying in again and pulverizing Mercer with a lightning-fast barrage of punches and kicks, finishing by locking his fists together and bringing them down on Alex's head, knocking him to the ground one final time, before grabbing his leg, spinning him and throwing him high into the air. "Let's see you come back from this!" The Saiyan Prince roared, putting his hands together as Golden ki formed in his two open palms. "FINAL FLASH!" He announced, firing the golden beam at the living virus, engulfing him in the deadly attack and quickly making him a non-living virus, completely vaporizing him. Vegeta panted at the energy he had spent firing the attack, before looking at the damage done to the city. "Dammit, now I have to go get the fucking Dragon Balls." He said, taking off (small TFS reference).

Analysis:

1: Vegeta has just about every advantage here. Strength: While Mercer is capable of lifting likely up to 200 tons, Vegeta is capable of lifting thousands of tons, as he trains just about every day in ridiculously high gravity and was able to match Goku as Super Saiyan 1 and 2, both of which are again capable of lifting 20,000 or 40,000 tons, so it's likely Vegeta was that strong as well. Also, during the events of battle of gods after Beerus slapped Bulma, Vegeta's fury pushed him over the edge and made him stronger than Goku in pretty much any form before the latter became a god. And while I didn't use this for this exact reason: Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta would've absolutely decimated Mercer with strength alone. Speed: again, Vegeta is comparable to Goku, who moves at AT LEAST mach 12,805, Mercer can outrun cars and run up buildings, which requires at least movement speeds of 400 mph, but still nowhere near the speeds the Vegeta and Goku are capable of. Skill/experience: Vegeta has been trained as a warrior/killing-machine from a VERY young age and is a master martial artist, whereas Mercer has the skills of a number of powerful soldiers, but little to no actual experience using the skills

2: Durability is Mercer's only real advantage was durability. Mercer came back from just about nothing after being hit by a nuke, but he was also very close to the edge of the blast and had a helicopter between him and the blast, meaning he likely wouldn't have survived if he was directly hit by the nuke, whereas Vegeta has been put down by very small wounds in important places: I.E Frieza's death beam through the heart or lung, so while Mercer is harder to kill than Vegeta, that would only help if he could truly outlast Vegeta, which is highly unlikely as Vegeta was far superior in every other aspect. I haven't even started on ki yet.

3: Vegeta at his weakest was already capable of destroying entire planets with very weak ki blasts, so Mercer would stand little to no chance against that. His armor would protect him for a small amount of time, but ultimately was only prolonging the inevitable. And by using his ki, Vegeta could render Mercer's blades and claws useless, as ki users can send ki to certain parts of their body to increase their endurance or strength, as seen when Goku sent a little bit of ki to his fingers and blocked a series of sword strikes from Trunks, who stated himself the same attack cut Frieza into pieces. Mercer's only stroke of luck would've been a sneak attack or something Vegeta wouldn't see coming, like his initial burst of tendrils that cut Vegeta the first time, but small wounds like that are easy for even the weaker DBZ characters to shrug off. When he sees it coming, Vegeta could easily dodge the attacks, especially as a Super Saiyan. This brings us to mobility, which Vegeta has a clear advantage in, as he can actually fly, whereas Mercer can only glide small distances and only from high places

4: Vegeta was angry to start with, as Mercer had attacked and tried to kill Bulma, which I stated before, is a bad idea and makes Vegeta absolutely furious and relentless. It was already a mismatch and Vegeta's anger only made things worse. His initial arrogance and wanting for a challenge is really the only reason Mercer lasted quite as long as he did. Once Vegeta gets serious, that's pretty much the end.
