Disclaimers: I don't own Rio but I do own the villain of this story. I don't own: Crexis the purple macaw, Rico the black hawk, Arlene the Scarlet Macaw or Rapper the red macaw. They ALL belong to their original authors'.

Unleashing the monster within.

Blu's vision was disoriented as he winced from the bright morning sunlight stretching across the floor through the mouse hole he stayed in and shone in his eyes. The adult male blue macaw blinked his eyes many times for his sight to mold into the morning sight as memories of what had happened stretched across his mind and his heart ached when he recalled what had happened previously. Blu sorely climbed to his talons as he also realized that he looked like his old self again but he frowned while he also knew that it wouldn't be long until he turned back into the form he so hated.

"Ughhh..." Blu stretched his neck out so he could ease the pain he felt from curling up in a painful position all night. His back and joints ached from the constant transformations and his eyes curiously wandered around his surroundings as he saw the one thing that reminded him of this mess: A piece of leftover steak, most likely still fresh and it was basically just a marrow now as the bird most likely torn into it with the fanged beak he usually acquired each night for the moment. Out of frustration and guilt, Blu kicked a talon at the marrow and this sent it knocking against the wall before falling to the floor.

"Another day of surviving I go..." Blu muttered to himself with a hoarse voice full of heart break as he mournfully wandered out of the mouse hole and noticed many Brazilian folk walking in the town square, totally oblivious to the rare bird's presence. Blu carefully weaved through the crowd of people whom roamed around the market place of down town, being driven only by the churning of hunger rumbling around within his delicate stomach. As the sweet smell of raw meat entered his nostrils, he decided to go for it as he should do this task for survival as he followed his beak and found himself peering through the leaves of a bush-like plant that stood by the door.

He stared at the shank of meat hanging upon the ceiling by a hook higher up. Blu licked his beak in hunger as he he flapped his wings subconsciously to check that his wings were still in bad shape. He cringed whence he remembered that his wing had been shot the night this started as he tried to find another way to leap up to grab the steak. Using his brain, he looked at some support beams hanging inches above the meat. It reminded the blue macaw of some train tracks, each one leading to a different direction except this particular support beam went in four directions: Forwards, backwards, left and right. Blu let out a deep sigh as he ran towards a small sewage pipe nailed to one of the walls while keeping a sharp eye on the receptionist at the desk whom was fumbling with his fingers in an absent minded way.

Blu grinned. This was his chance! Climbing up the pipe, Blu felt his feathery neck get nicked at by the loose bolts hanging out of the pipe, making some of his loose feathers fall out easily as they snagged on those very things that Blu ironically admired through his life. It interested him since he was a mere 3 inches tall but could fit in the palm of his former owner, Linda's, hand. Since his transformations had been wearing the male adult spix macaw's cells and normal body functions thin; Blu had been losing more then some of his feathers. He began to get a spinal ache occasionally and his throat was raw and rancid from how much his vocal pipe had been messed with as his voice had changed throughout each and every transformation.

Blu minded some of his feathers as to not arouse suspicion and very soon found himself just inches above his soon to be meal. He craned his neck slowly towards the meat shank and as Blu opened his beak wide to snag it like a lion would to an antelope's leg, a sudden slam of the door's hinges broke Blu's newly gained predatory instincts as he stepped back in shock, losing his balance on the top roof support for a moment before he managed to dig his talons into the metal to prevent himself from falling. Blu's eyes narrowed angrily as he saw an all two familiar person walk into the shop with his fat lips scrunched up into a coy smirk against his chubby face.

The blue macaw's eyes trailed Dr Pablino like a wolf's trained eyes watching its eventual prey as he let out a deep growl from his throat. He never thought he'd see Dr Pablino wear that grin after he helped freeing the other mutated birds! His mind intellectual swarmed with questions as he tried to make some sort of sense from what he was witnessing.

The baby-faced doctor walked towards the desk as he cleared his throat smugly to announce his presence, instantly grasping the receptionist's attention as he stared at him with confused eyes. The man seemed to be in his mid 30's as the stubble upon his stretched out chin barely touched his strong wrists and his bored lips twisted into a worried frown as he told Dr Pablino his problem in Portugese. From what Blu could make out, the man had called about some of his meat stocks going missing -most likely his fault- and the professor of illegal experimentation began writing down stuff on his notepad he had brought along.

"Hmmm. It would appear that the blue macaw is here, stealing from you. If you see him, bring him to me immediately." Dr Pablino ordered and the nervous receptionist swallowed a large lump in his throat, nervous. Blu sighed in relief as he watched the professor began to make his depart towards the door.

Blu tilted his head to one side in confusion. It was obvious that he was now wanted by Dr Pablino but for what? Didn't he do all his experiments on him? Blu suddenly let loose a sore groan as he felt his spine curl inside his body. His eyes widened in horror as he looked down at his viciously trembling wings and body to discover that they were turning a navy dark blue. No! It was happening again!

"Ughhh...N-No! Please not n-now!" Blu yowled as quietly as he could as he was forced to the bottom of the ceiling supports by some kind of force and he found that he was quickly changing and his vision was growing diamond-shaped, signalling that his sight was changing also.

Quickly deciding to make his leave, Blu bungee jumped off the beams, snagged his transforming beak down upon the shank of meat and began using his deforming monsterous talons to make break to the door. He felt utter agony as his transformation was reaching its end! Blu shielded his snake-like eyes from the harsh sunlight and quickly took cover in the shadows in a desperate attempt to make himself invisible to the world.

With his back against the darkened wall of shade, Blu finally felt the pain subside as he stopped trembling and looked down at his body in an examination. It seemed that he had transformed back into that beast from before and it only happened at random. This was bazaar since from what Blu could tell, this experiment was supposed to be at a specific time. This gave him the momentum that Dr Pablino noticed this and needed him back to complete the transformation.

Giving a deep growl of depression of his ugly form returning, Blu once again began the job of dragging his meal towards the mouse hole he called a 'home' and done so tiredly as he stretched his body slightly to straighten his sore back. Blu licked at his fanged-beak as the ivory tips of those blade-like denticles dug into the fresh meat. But then he saw something out of the corner of his eyes, something that made his heart stop in paralysing fear.

He saw Jasmine and Carlos followed by Rico and Arlene! They were circling the skies like hawks as if they were searching for something or even someone. Blu didn't need to be a genius to know who they sought out as he finally willed his legs to move and he broke into a desperate sprint whilst dragging the steak in his beak to slow him down a bit. It was true that the shade the adult male blue macaw stood in was cool and protective from the harsh rays of sunlight but if it failed to shield him from the sight of a hawk, scarlet macaw, young female blue macaw and toucan species hybrid then he would no longer deem it his friend.

Luckily for Blu, it seemed to work as he kept to the shadows and found sanctity within his mouse hole as he began to eagerly chow down on his breakfast in huge bites. Honestly, he now ate like an animal! He no longer had the table manners he would use to have and use every night and morning and honestly, watching him chow down like this, was kind of sickening.

He was just half way through his meal when he heard a small voice behind him that sounded familiar. Too familiar. "Dad...?" Blu stood there with wide eyes and a worried frown. He could tell that from the way Jasmine said those words reluctantly was that she was overcome with disbelief but also fear of what she would see whence her father turned around. Blu knew he would have to turn on his feet sooner or later but didn't have the guts to do it.

It was a simple action in his part but to him, showing his face to his second oldest daughter, felt like he was breaching Jasmine's trust. It broke his heart as he finally gave in and turned on his raptor-like talons and gave Jasmine a small wave of his deformed wing "...Hi, Jasmine."

A/N: Wow. This chapter was pathetic on my part. I just wanted to update this for now since I have a Rio crossover in mind which shall be hopefully updated today. I wish you a happy Easter and for all of those who ask about 'Birds of a feather' I will finally respond:

Look, I have a LOT of ideas mixing in my head right now and a lot of my stories I have put on hold because of it. Birds of a feather is one of these stories. I seriously apologise and I am definitely NOT saying that I won't continue it but I don't know when I will update either. It kind of breaks my heart to tell you this but to make up for it, I will TRY and finish this one quicker. I just have a LOT on my mind right now so please don't hate me.

Anyways, I think you guys will be surprised to know what kind of crossover I'm doing and I hope it makes you happy.

Also, I have been asked the question: is this an OC of mine, Ivanna's, origin. Well not really. She just came from a chameleon and a bird sometime in her life to make her a unique character and remember, even if I do add Ivanna in this it will only be a very short cameo because she met Bobby and Manuel in the chrismas special.

Again; I beg of your forgiveness and hope that you will all like my crossover which I will update as soon as I finish the first chapter. I promise that this will surprise you.

Message for Crexis: Thanks, I'm glad that we like the same games and stuff but I think that your ice age story is great. There's no need to be down on yourself because you are a great writer. You just have trouble with it, don't you? Don't forget that there are lots of great people in this group that can help you, myself included. I hope you have a nice day.

Happy Easter!
