"So, Maka, what's our mission again?" Soul asked, looking at Maka through his scythe eye as she rushed through the forest.

"You need to either start paying attention more or work on your memory, Soul. We're hunting down a murderer who calls himself Slasher. He was last seen in this place: the Emerald Forest." Maka answered her weapon.

"And it looks like you've found him!" A voice rang out. Looking up, Maka saw a crazed madman who even looked evil diving at her from a tree. She jumped back to avoid his machete as he slashed at her.

Maka glared angrily at the man who tried to kill her and had already killed a number of innocent humans and took their souls. "Mass murderer Slasher, your soul has become a kishin egg that is pure evil. And now it's mine!" She said.

"You won't stop me little girl! I've grown strong with all the fear and bloodlust I've gotten. I am invincible. And you will bring me one step closer to being a kishin!" He laughed maniacally, rushing in at the blond scythe wielder... Buuuut, we all know where this is going. One slash and the careless maniac was half the man he used to be, before turning into a kishin soul, which Soul happily consumed.

"Ah, a mission complete and a meal in my belly. Nothing can ruin this day." Soul said.

Unbeknowst to the two, however, all the negative emotions of their target and the general hatred/anger Maka had for the pre-kishin was like the dinner bell to the creatures of Grimm, a large pack of beowulves soon surrounding the DWMA students. "What the?!" They both asked.

"What are these?! Some kind of Kishin?!" Maka asked, slightly panicked.

"I don't know, but clearly they're not friendly. Let's just take them down and get out of here!" Soul said.

"Right!" Maka agreed.

Soul was about to transform, but before he could and as one of the beowulves howled, likely to signal the attack, it was sliced in half while the two teens only saw a black and red blur. "What?!" They both asked again.

Within a matter of seconds, the blur continued to rush at the beowulves, slicing and hacking them at speeds the two could barely follow. The blur finally stopped after decapitating the last beowulf, revealing it to be a girl around Maka's height, but looked a few years older, wearing a short black and red dress with black leggings, black and red boots, a red hood and black her that became red towards the end. The most interesting things about the girl was that she had silver eyes... and she was carrying a giant, mechanical-looking scythe. "You guys okay?" She asked with a smile.

"Whoa! Now that was cool." Soul said.

"Yeah. You really helped us out. I'm Maka and that's Soul." Maka said, introducing them.

"Hi, I'm Ruby. And it was no problem, but you shouldn't be out in the Emerald Forest without a weapon." The hooded girl replied.

Maka looked at Ruby's scythe, admiring it for a moment, before smirking "Oh, I have a weapon." She said, turning to Soul, who nodded and entered his scythe form.

Ruby looked shocked for a moment, before turning to amazement as she zoomed in, looking at the scythe from all angles. "Amazing! That is too cool! Is that his Semblance?! How does he do that?! What else is he!?" She asked.

"Whoa, whoa, slow down. What's a semblance? Can't your partner turn back and forth? And what do you mean what else is he?" Maka returned the questions.

"You don't know what a Semblance is? You know, the special thing everyone can do that only they can do? Like my speed or how he turned into a scythe?! And if by partner, you mean Crescent Rose, it can't become a HUMAN, but it IS also a customizable, high-impact sniper rifle." She explained.

"Huh?" Soul asked.

Ruby smirked. "It's also a gun." She explained, turning it into it's sniper rifle form.

"Impressive." Maka said, before her smirk returned as she jumped back a few paces. "Wanna see who's is better?" She asked.

Ruby looked shocked for a moment, before gaining her own smirk, turning the gun back into a scythe. "Oh, you're on!" She said eagerly, the two exchanging a competitive glare, rushing in.

Ruby then rushed in, swinging her scythe at Maka, who managed to swing her own and catch the blade, the two scythes now locked together. Maka started to get the upper hand, but Ruby then fired Crescent Rose, the high-powered kick giving her the boost to free her scythe and leave Maka wide open, at which point she spun and swung the back end of her scythe into Maka's side, sending her flying a few feet, sprawling across the ground a little more afterwards, coming to a stop. "Maka! Are you okay?!" Soul asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." She said, picking herself up with some effort. "That's a lot of power in that sniper rifle. It makes up for what Ruby lacks in strength." Maka analyzed.

"So, we have to try and take that advantage away from her." Soul said.

"Yeah. But that's easier said than done." She said, rushing in and screaming.

Ruby noticed the speed Maka was using as she rushed her. "Wow. Good thing you're strong, because you aren't that fast." She said, dodging her fellow scythe-wielder's attacks with ease, jumping back a good distance and blasting at her with the rifle again. Maka managed to dodge these, but was unprepared as Ruby rushed in again, planted Crescent Rose into the ground, spun around it and threw a powerful kick to Maka's chest, pushing her back once again. "If you want, I could slow down a little bit. Make things easier for you." She offered.

"Thanks, but I'm fine. It wouldn't be much of a fight if you held back for me." Maka said, taking her stance and getting ready once again.

"She's not wrong. She's WAY faster than you are." Soul said.

"I've dealt with people faster than me before." Maka said.

"Yeah, but I don't know about THAT fast." Soul said.

"Let's try something big to bring her down in one hit!" Maka said.

"Now you're being risky... I like it!" Soul said.

"Let's go! Soul Resonance!" They shouted together, then both screamed as they powered up, DBZ style, a powerful aura starting to build around them.

Ruby stopped and looked in amazement as the two began giving off an intimidating aura. "Whoa! What are you guys doing?! Is THAT your semblance?! It looks awesome!" She said in wonder.

"The legendary super skill of the scythe meister!" Maka said as Soul's blade turned into a massive, glowing cyan blue, crescent-shaped blade. "Witch Hunter!" Maka shouted, rushing forward and swinging at Ruby, who only then snapped back to her senses when she realized what was happening. She managed to dodge Maka's attacks and attempted to throw her own, but Maka easily knocked her scythe away, far stronger than she was before. Ruby jumped back a couple times, clearing a good distance and firing again, but Maka was able to easily block the bullets, after which she spun and swung her scythe, sending a massive, blade-like wave of energy towards Ruby, who quickly dove out of the way. Ruby looked up seriously as Maka looked at her just as seriously, panting a little.

"It looks like you decided to stop holding back. In that case, so will I." Ruby said, rushing forward, faster than Maka could keep track of. Once again, she felt the sensation of the back of Ruby's blade being slammed into her chest at high speeds, knocking the wind out of her and forcing her back a few paces. The next hit came from behind, Ruby slamming the back of the blade into the back of Maka's head, causing her to do a front flip and landing on her back. She got up with decent effort after this and was hit with a few more supersonic attacks, dazing her before Ruby appeared right in front of her in a low stance, swinging her weapon upward and slamming the bottom of it into Maka's chin, knocking her a few feet back and a few feet into the air, landing on the ground, defeated.

End music

As the dazed scythe meister struggled to regain her senses, the huntress-in-training stood over her and held out her hand, offering it to aid Maka. "Thanks." Maka said groggily, taking the hand and allowing herself to be pulled up.

"No problem. That was fun! It was so cool to fight another scythe-wielder for once! And you had some crazy tricks up your sleeves! You totally went all out with that big wave attack, too!" Ruby said, still very excited.

Soul turned back into his human form and helped Maka stand at this point. "Yeah, she's pretty crazy sometimes, but that's what makes her such a cool partner." He said.

"That's nice. My partner's pretty cool sometimes, but she still yells at me a lot." Ruby said.

"Looks like we're in the same boat, then. Maka still yells at me plenty. She's not even afraid to cave my skull in with a dictionary." He said with a small smirk.

Ruby giggled a bit at this, before taking Maka's condition into consideration. "If you want, you could come back to Beacon with me. We could have any of Maka's injuries treated and it's safer than being in this forest." She offered.

"Thanks, but my bike's not too far from here. Catch you later." Soul said, the two of them walking off into the forest as Ruby waved goodbye.

Analysis:

1: Maka is likely stronger than Ruby, but that's about her only advantage. Ruby's speed is FAR superior, as Maka is often stated, even by herself, to be very slow, while Ruby has feats that can easily be calculated to supersonic speed. She's also likely more skilled, as she often takes on large groups of enemies on her own with ease whereas Maka usually only fights one target at a time, on occasion even needing help against one target. Experience is a toss-up here, as Ruby is older, but Maka has fought a wider array of more powerful enemies than Ruby has. But, experience and strength don't matter if you can't even hit the target in the first place, which she'd likely have trouble doing do to the large speed difference and the speed of Ruby's reactions and reflexes, being able to dodge Torchwick's RPG-cane and automatic fire. And when Ruby used her true speed, Maka would not be able to defend herself, as she's had difficulty dodging attacks much slower than Ruby's. Ruby also had the advantage of range, being able to use her sniper rifle to trip up Maka or set her up for another attack.

2: This was a non-lethal, relatively non-serious fight, So Maka wouldn't resort to any drastic last resorts, such as Black Blood or her weapon mode, which is a big toss-up if she can even do while she's awake. Ruby also wouldn't be using her blade to attack Maka, as Maka clearly stated beforehand of having no knowledge of aura or semblances, so she'd have to hold back slightly to avoid killing her, hitting her with the blunt back end of the blade, which is the only reason the fight lasted so long, as Maka is quite durable against blunt force trauma.

3: Maka's best bet would've been Soul Resonance, as she'd realize she'd need something big and powerful to hit Ruby when she moved much faster than Maka could and would have to bring her down in very few hits. However, much like before, Ruby would still be able to dodge the Witch Hunter, as she has dodged much faster, deadlier things in the past. And even if it had hit her, it's likely Ruby's aura would've defended her against the attacks, although would probably leave her only a little drained and still capable of going. Also, when Ruby realized how serious Maka was being, she'd likely stop holding back and do everything in her power to defeat Maka, using her semblance to quickly wrap up the fight.

"Whoa, a 2-V-2?! Author, you are REALLY stepping your game up!" Deadpool said, appearing from nowhere to lean over my shoulder and look at the screen.

"How the fuck do you keep getting in my house?!" I demanded, opening my window, stabbing him in the chest with my pocket knife and throwing him out the window.
