(Hey, guys. I know you're probably upset this isn't Ryu vs. Dante, but a fan I've been working with on a few of his stories for a while requested this, so... here it is. And don't worry, I WILL get to Dante vs. Ryu in the near future. I guess just consider as the story continuing after a long hiatus. And I will be continuing with it and adding quite a few more chapters soon. Spoiler Alert for some of Sai's upcoming Devil Arms. So without further ado, here's a new fight. Enjoy.)
In the ruined city, a teen with brown hair, slacks, a black t shirt with a kingslayer emblem on it with a white coat, and blue eyes walked down the street carrying a broadsword on his back and a Sawed off double barrel shot gun near his back. He checked the address and found the right place he was looking for. He was right a good height and had a slight build.
The Devil May Cry agency Building. The building itself is a large standalone building with an arched roof over the porch and double door. The boy walks inside and sees a pool table with a working Juke Box and some pizza boxes. Inside is one square-shaped room resembling a studio, with wooden floor and plaster walls with wooden panels on bottom part. Looking from the entrance, there is a set of simple stairs on the left, leading to a narrow landing. Underneath the landing is a white fridge, couple of couches and large speakers. On the left side is also a pool table. On the right side of the room, in the corner is an antique jukebox, and next to it a set of drums and an electric guitar. In front is a large, antique desk with chair, on it a photo, but it is turned away, so the teen can't see it at this angle. There is also an old rotary phone. On each side of the desk are doors, left one are leading into the bathroom of bare design and with the recurring poster of a woman with an eye-patch on the door from inside, while the right one should lead into bedroom. On the wall directly behind the desk is a huge trophy of unknown origin and lupine appearance.
"Hello? Is this Devil May Cry? My names Jackson, im here about the Job offering!" he said.
"Huh?" said a woman, who was trish as she came in. "Oh, a new guy. You here for the handyman guise or…"
"I'm here for the REAL stuff." Jackson said.
"Good choice. Dante! We got a new hire hand!" Trish said.
Dante emerged from the bathroom, wearing pants and boots, but no shirt, drying his hair. Judging from the steam pouring from the room, he likely got done with a shower. "So, this is the kid, huh?" Dante asked, walking up and looking at Jackson.
"Yup. My names Jackson. I'm sort of a Devil Hunter like Lady, but less of what she's been doing." Jackson said. "So… this is Devil May Cry?"
"What, did you not see the VERY LARGE neon sign above the door?" A voice rang out as a boy maybe 5 years younger than Dante with silver hair, dressed in all black with a distinctive black trench coat tattered at the edges sat up from the couch and walked over, also looking at Jackson. "Hm… A shotgun, good choice. You're a human, though, aren't you? Nothing wrong with that, but if you want to fight demons, you might want some extra muscle. You've got some, but in this business, a human would need to be built like Arnold Schwarzenegger to stand a chance against the bigger, badder demons." He said.
"And you must be Sai. Smack Talker, good fighter, and stealer of weapons from friends." Jackson said.
"You don't know the half of it." Trish said.
"Oh I got plenty of dish. Let's see, one time he stole the Sword of Sparda, Lightning's Gunblade, and nearly half of Dante's Arsenal he got from that tower."
"BORROWED, not stolen. And I pay the bills around here, so I think letting me borrow your weapons every so often is the least you could do." Sai defended.
"And when were you planning on giving lightning's gunblade back?" Jackson asked.
"Last time we went on a date." He said with a smirk.
"Well, I'm psyched to do this job." Jackson said.
"Yeah, c'mon, lemme show you the collection." Dante said.
"Wait a second. We should see how he fights, first. See if he can use those weapons." Sai said.
"I was gonna get to that." Dante said.
They went into the back where all of the weapons were shown, in flashes of awesomeness.
"Holy Gun Boner!" Jackson said.
"Now THIS is what it's all about! Look at all this FINE weaponry…" Sai said, looking at the weapons as if entranced by them.
"I get to use any of these when we go on jobs?!" Jackson asked in glee.
"Take it in, kid. These are the best weapons in the world. Take your pics." Dante said.
Jackson looked around and spotted Pandora. "Dibs on this!" he quickly said grabbing Pandora.
"UH… Maybe some simpler one's first. That's, shall we say, an intermediate weapon. Use that baby wrong, it's a quick trip to the morgue. For ALL of us." Sai said nervously.
"Okay. Next time, baby.." Jackson said before spotting Agni and Rudra. "Awesome! I call those two!"
"Hope you like long conversations, because those two almost never shut up." Sai said.
As if responding to the younger demon, the eyes of the swords snapped open and began looking around.
"Huh? These two are chatterboxes?" Jackson asked.
They then saw Jackson. "Oh, hello! My name is Agni!" The red one said.
"And I am Rudra!" The blue one added. "We would be delighted if you used us in combat. It has been so long. We see Dante and Sai always grab the other weapons."
"Gee, I wonder why?" Jackson asked looking at the two demons.
"We ask if we've done something wrong, but they always tell us the same we don't even know what it means-" Agni started, before…
"SHUT THE HELL UP!" Sai snapped, shaking his fist at the scimitars.
"Oh, i get it, you two are so annoying when you talk. But i'm not judging. So, what can you guys do?" Jackson said.
"I can project fire, while my brother harnesses the wind." Agni said.
"If you use us together, we can be of great use to you." Rudra said.
"Yeah, I'm good with swords, i can definitely take you two on some missions sometimes." Jackson said putting them back and seeing Cerberus. "Oh… what have we here. Nunchucks."
"Oh, got eyes for Cerberus? Those are some COOL Devil Arms for sure. " Sai said.
Jackson then grabbed Nevan. "Ah hah, this is a weapon i can get behind! A literal electric gutair!"
"Hey, hands off! Nevans private!" Dante said. "And that means you too, Sai!" Dante growled, pointing a finger in both of their faces.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, Dante." Sai said, pulling a halo out of his trench coat and holding it above his head. "It doesn't float on its own." Sai explained quickly to Jackson.
"Okay, jokes aside, i need something that really makes me equal with the demons." Jackson said looking around. He then saw Gilgamesh sitting on the wall. "Ooooh, Gilgamesh! That ought give me an extra punch!"
"Nice choice, now those I can lend ya. You'll definitely need Gilgamesh, trust me." Dante said.
"So, now that you've got yourself some weapons, let's see what you've got. Don't worry, I'll go easy on ya." Sai said, starting to leave and flicking his head as a gesture for Jackson to follow him.
Dante looked back at the wall of weapons carefully to ensure Sai hadn't taken any from under his nose again. Satisfied everything was in it's proper place, he looked back at the younger demon. "Finally using your own weapons for once, huh?" He asked.
Sai smirked and turned back. "No, I think I'll be using this." He said, pulling Rebellion out of one of his pockets.
Dante was shocked at this, looking to his back to see that the sword his father left him was indeed no longer there, before looking at Sai with a glare. "SAI!" He snapped, storming towards the younger demon, who simply tossed the weapon back.
"Oh, relax. I'm kidding. You're right, though, it is about time I use my own weapons. I have them for a reason." He said, before continuing towards his chosen battlefield.
Eventually, the group was in a desert at the edge of town, Dante and Trish sitting off to the sidelines in chairs Sai had provided, truly shocking Jackson with the space in his trench coat's pockets, while the younger demon stood 20 paces away from the new employee, the wind blowing a tumbleweed past them and his trench coat blowing in the breeze. "So, whenever you're ready… draw." Sai smirked.

Jackson drew his shotgun and blasted, making sai dodge before he rushed in, swinging his sword down on Sai, who at the last minute, drew a black and green katana with a viper's head at the bottom of the hilt and clashed with Jackson. While Sai was focused on the blade, Jackson smirked and grabbed Sais free hand and jammed it into his coat, pulling it out as it held Lightning's gunblade.
"Whuh?!" Sai gawked.
"Hey, that's…!" Dante asked.
"Now i wonder who this belongs too?" Jackson asked grabbing hold of it.
Meanwhile…
Lighting went to grab her blade for a mission before finding it missing with an I.O.U card near the place it was stored. "That little bastard!" She snapped, slamming the case that held it closed.
Back to the fight…
Sai jumped back after Jackson managed to snatch the gunblade from his hand. "Clever little sneak." He said. Jackson aimed and shot at Sai's head, but the demon quickly flipped the hood of his trench coat over his head, the bullets harmlessly bouncing away.
"What?!" Jackson asked.
"Sorry, pal. It's gonna take more than bullets to get through this." Sai smirked.
"Sai's trench coat is actually the Devil Arm Popobawa: Only other Devil Arms are powerful enough to cut through it. So far Yamato and Rebellion are the only things that have been able to do the job." Dante explained.
"And under normal circumstances, I'm the only one who can access the pockets. Anyone else would just find an empty pocket… except for a rat trap for pickpockets." Sai added.
"Okay, but I was clever, huh? Rule number 1, never trust a devil on his word." Jackson said.
"Now you're learning." Sai said with a smirk, putting away the katana and putting his hands in his pockets, shuffling them around a bit before drawing them. They were now covered in large blue gauntlets with clawed fingertips, but most shocking of all was the squid-like beaks in the palm and clawed tentacles around the wrists. Sai then thrust his right hands forwards, the tentacles shooting out towards Jackson.
"That's a new one!" Jackson said. "I think I'll call it Kraken!" he said dodging them and grabbing one of the tentacles in between his blades. "Now let's see what else you've got hidden in there…."
He tossed the tentacle back into the coat and fishes around in there before knowing he got something and reeled it back, pulling hard as the Sword of Sparda came flying out the coat and into Jack's hands.
"Whoa-ho! JACKPOT!" Jackson said. "Heyo, Trish! I think you lost this!" Jack said waving it in front of her.
"Uh-oh." Sai said, looking at Trish, who now had an electric aura around her. "I was POSITIVE I returned that." He said nervously.
"Hey, can't trust anyone when you're in the business." Jackson wise-cracked. "Now let's take this baby for a spin!"
He got ready to throw it in his boomerang mode. "This! Is! SPARDA!" he threw it hard as it spun around to Sai.
"Hey! That's my line!" Sai snapped before jumping high into the air and out of the way. "Pressure Cannon!" He shouted, putting his hands together as if he were going to shoot a kamehameha, but looking close, Jackson saw the beaks in the palms of the gauntlets opening, before shooting a huge combined water jet from them towards Jackson.
Thankfully for him, the Sword of Sparda boomeranged back to him as he used it as a shield against the water. "Nice, it comes back to you. Now, lets see what else this baby can do!"
He brandished the Sword and converted it to scythe mode, pointing the blade straight. "Time for another fishing trip!"
He jabbed it into Sais coat, spilling out more of the devil arms what were in the armory, Nevan Included. Basically everything but the kitchen sink, which being agni and Rudra.
"Eep!" Sai said.
"That… that's almost everything we had in the armoy! You said you'd use your own weapons!" Dante said.
"Yeah. He lied." Jackson said. "That halo of his snagged all of the gear except Agni and Rudra and replaced them with wax copies, so it looked like he didn't take any. But he stored everything but the kitchen sink in that coat of his, including Nevan, Sparda's Sword, and Lightning's Gunblade." Jackson said.
"Curses! Foiled again!" Sai grumbled, before turning back to Dante. "Still, if you want to get technical, I WAS still only using my own weapons." He said defensively.
"Nuh uh. If there's one thing i know, you'd just pull one out to cheat. Sorry, but Jackson takes this one out of disqualification." Dante said. "And that said…"
End Music
"You're hired!" He and Trish both said.
"Really?!" Jackson asked.
"Hey, if you can foil Sai like that, we have a good contender that can handle himself! Welcome to the team!" Dante said.
"Oh my gosh, yes!" Jackson said.
Sai gathered up all the fallen weapons and gulped nervously before walking back over and handing them back to Dante and Trish. "Here you go, guys. There we go, everything has been legitimately returned and no one can say or add anything in a plot twist to make it seem like I didn't give the weapons back because I did." He said.
"One problem with that…" Jackson said holding Lightning's Gunblade. "How are you gonna return this beauty without getting a punch to the face?"
"With an all-expense paid trip to a 5 star hotel and her favorite restaurant. Maybe a nice necklace, too. Then the date at least has a CHANCE of ending… romantically" Sai smirked, bouncing his eyebrows twice.
"Dude..." Jackson face-palmed.
Analysis:
Because Jackson was mortal, he couldn't afford to try and face Sai in a full on fight. Knowing his tendency to 'borrow' Devil arms and other assorted weaponry, Jackson used his wits to make sure Sai was dragged into a situation where he was caught with everything. That's why he was shown the armory first, to tempt Sai, and it worked.
Popobawa only responds to Sais own body, so Jackson had to think outside the box. If he tried to use it himself, it would damage Jackson. By using Sais own free hand, a tentacle from Kraken, and the sword of sparda, Jackson could easily reach into popobawa without getting hurt himself.
Jackson might be a rookie with devil hunting, but he is experienced to use Devil Arms Uniquely. He was able to figure out how to throw the Sword of Sparda like a boomerang without using magic like Trish, Grab a tentacle from Kraken without getting hit, and use LIghtning's Gunblade without pointers from Sai.
Next time…!
"You don't belong in this world when you have horrid, assymetrical clothing like that!"
"If you want to do something about my clothing… how about you try to get rid of me?"
