Death The Kid vs. Lie Ren
( Special thanks to Hope The Victor for co-writing this with me. This takes place before the Timeskip. There was no Timeskip, there was no Volume 3, no one died, what are you talking about?!)
After the fight between Blake and Black Star, team RWBY decided to show their friends around Beacon Academy. However, Kid would not even make it into the Academy, as he was too busy marveling at Beacon's design and symmetry. At this moment, teams RWBY and JNPR, noticed the absence of Ren… So really the latter was team JNP at this point.
"Hey, where's Ren?" Ruby asked.
"He'll be here. You know how he is…" Jaune said.
"I HOPE he comes soon! I'm getting worried!" Nora said.
"You're ALWAYS worried for him, Nora." Jaune said.
Ren then arrived calmly.
"Hello, everyone, sorry I'm late." he said in his usual outfit.
"Left, right, left, right…." KId said looking back and forth.
"Um... Kid? Is there something wro…?" Ruby asked before Kid interrupted.
"You are NOT symmetrical!" Kid shouted.
"Excuse me?" Ren asked.
"Oh no…" Maka sighed.
"You don't belong in this world when you have horrid, asymmetrical clothing like that!" Kid snapped, stomping his foot on the ground repeatedly.
"Hey! That's our team member you're talking to, mister!" Nora interrupted.
"Besides, what's asymmetrical about Ren's clothes anyway?!" Jaune asked.
Everyone looked back at Jaune for a moment, before looking back at Ren (or more specifically, his clothes), before looking back at Jaune. "Uhh, Jaune, do you know what asymmetrical means?" Pyrrha asked, looking back at her leader.
"Uh.. no." Jaune said.
"It means everything must be perfectly balanced, you ignoramus!" Kid said. "Just look at your member's clothing! Look how that black line goes across his chest one way, but not the other! Disgusting! And that pink highlight in his hair only on the left side, but none on the right! Disgusting! And then that black line goes back across his torso to the right, but it doesn't look the same as the left! Disgusting! All of it is disgusting! Disgusting! Disgusting!" Kid screamed.
Patty laughed as Liz sighed while both human.
"This kid needs to see a doctor…" Jaune said.
Ren stepped forward. "If you want to do something about my clothing…. How about you try to get rid of me?" he said as flicked his sleeves and out came both his SMG short blades, Stormflower.
"You're challenging Kid, Lord Death's son, to a fight?! What are you thinking?!" Maka asked, shocked.
"It makes no difference, so long as i get rid of the asymmetrical one! Liz, Patti, weapon modes!" Kid said.
"Yay, a fight!" Patti said turning pink.
"I really shouldn't be surprised anymore. Still, this is such a drag." She said, turning pink as well, before flying into Kid's hands, becoming twin pistols.
"Oh, this is gonna be good." Yang said.
"This would've never happened if Rin didn't show up today…" Maka sighed.
"Nah, this is WAY better than the tour." Yang said.
"GO, REN! Beat those white stripes out of his hair!" Nora cheered.
Background Music: "The Wild Card" by Really Slow Motion
Kid began firing wildly at ren with burst fire. Ren then dashed across the courtyard avoiding the bullets while firing back.
"Whoa… he's fast." Maka said, marveling at Ren's speed and reaction time.
"Yep! All of us are super fast!" Ruby agreed.
Ren and Kid continued to dash around the courtyard, firing at each other as they did. However, Kid's wavelength blasts were noticeably slower than Ren's bullets, so while Ren was easily avoiding injury, Kid received several nicks from incoming bullets and even took one in the shoulder.
"Kid, I really don't think you should take this guy on straight up. Patti and i have slower shots than his rapid fire bursts." Liz noted.
"I know, Liz. I can't win this way." Kid said. "Maybe he's weaker at hand-to-hand combat!" Kid said, rushing in, managing to avoid Ren's bullets until he reached the ninja of team JNPR. From there, the two engaged in hand-to-hand combat, but while Kid found he was stronger, Ren was both faster and more skilled than him, masterfully countering his attacks and landing several of his own powerful attacks, as well as a few deep cuts with the blades of his guns.
"I don't believe it… he's countering Kid at every turn." Maka said in awe.
"He's a ninja!" Nora said dramatically.
"Yeah. Definitely one of the better fighters of our team." Jaune agreed.
After a powerful kick to the face, Kid jumped back to reassess the situation. "Kid, what are you doing? You know we can't win at a distance!" Liz said.
"Yeah! He's faster than us and so are his bullets!" Patti added.
"He's faster ON FOOT." Kid corrected, summoning Beelzebub.
"A skateboard?" Ren asked, confused.
"More than that." Kid corrected as he took to the air with it and flew around.
"Hey, what the…?! That's cheating!" Jaune said.
"Jaune, we didn't establish any ground rules." Maka said.
"I know, but still! A flying skateboard?! How come we never get stuff like that?!" Jaune asked in shock.
Kid took to the air and fired down at Ren, who still managed to dodge his attacks, but now Kid was also able to easily evade Ren's bullets. "Incoming!" He announced, diving down towards Ren, preparing to slam into him with the board, but Ren dodged. Kid skidded to a stop and did a 180 to face the opponent behind him. "Tornado Flip!" He announced, flinging his skateboard towards the Kuroyuri survivor, who was unprepared for this action just managing to block with his forearms to prevent the board from hitting him in the face, knocking him back as the board flew back to Kid.
"Even for asymmetrical garbage, you're impressive. But…" Kid said radiating pink energy. "Im ending this… now."
"Uh oh…" Black star said.
"What?! What's he gonna do?!" Jaune asked worriedly.
"Something big." Soul said.
"LET'S GO, SOUL RESONANCE!" Kid, Liz and Patti shouted all at once, their energy expanding massively before Kid grew three spikes on his shoulders as Liz and Patti turned into cannons which attached to his arms.
"Execution Mode." Kid announced.
"Not good, not good…!" Jaune said.
"Ren, get outta there!" Nora cried out worriedly.
"I'll be fine." Ren said.
"What th...Is he nuts?! He's playing chicken with Kid's Strongest Attack!" Maka said in disbelief.
"Don't worry. He's prepared for things much more serious than this. He's ready." Ruby said dramatically, pulling out a peppermint from nowhere and eating it. (RWBY Chibi reference)
"Resonance stable. Noise level at 0.3 percent." Liz informed him.
"Black Needle soul wavelength fully charged!" Patti announced as well as red rings went down the cannons to the barrel, building power into two giant pink energy balls, two massive skulls appearing over the cannons, almost looking like menacing claws.
"Preparing to fire. Feedback in four seconds." Liz continued.
"I hope he knows what he's doing…!" Soul said.
"3…" Liz counted down.
"2..!" Patti counted down as well.
"1…" Liz finished.
"Firing now!" Patti announced, flashing a slightly tilted peace sign.
"Death Cannon!" Kid announced, firing at Ren.
Ren merely stood there as the incredible projectile flew towards him, before jumping out of the way at the last second and rushing in.
(Music Change- Hell Yeah!: From Zebrahead, chorus)
"What?!" The death trio said in disbelief as the boy rushed towards them delivering a swift flying knee to Kid's face, stunning him and forcing him to stagger back, before Ren then cross sliced at Kid's arms, severing Liz and Patti from them.
"Yaaaaaah!" Patti screamed as she turned back to human, flipping animattiacal in the air.
"No waaaaaaay!" Liz screamed as she tumbled through the air, hitting and rolling backwards on the ground a few times before stopping face down with her butt sticking up in the air.
Ren then landed a few more slashes on Kid, before hiding his guns back in his sleeves and pulling his right arm back, before slamming it forward in an aura-filled palm strike directly to Kid's chest, causing him to cough up some blood and fly backwards, alive, but in no shape to continue the battle.

"I don't believe it, he beat Kid!" Maka said in disbelief.
"WHOO-HOOO! You did it, Ren!" Nora cheered, rushing up to him and hugging him as everyone else walked up to the two combatants.
"Way to go!" Jaune cheered.
"Well done!" Pyrrha congratulated.
Soul looked at Kid, who was knocked out cold.
"Unsymmetrical… beat me… not possible…" He said in his daze.
"Yup… he's not gonna wake up for awhile." Soul confirmed.
"So now what does this make this? 3-0, advantage Hunters and Huntresses?" Yang joked.
"Well lets see… I beat Maka and Soul, and Blake beat Black Star. Now Ren beat Kid. Yep! 3-0!" Ruby confirmed cheerfully.
"You know something? I think this is the start of a great new group." Maka said with a smile.
"Sounds good to me!" Jaune said.
"Agreed." Ren said, before looking back at Kid. "As long as he stops trying to kill me for not being symmetrical." He added.
Analysis…
This was an EXTREMLEY close fight. Both excel greatly in long and short range combat. Kid WAS certainly more powerful than Ren, but Ren was faster, at least on foot. Kid's soul wavelength bullets have been shown to be slower than real bullets, as even Soul could still dodge them, whereas Ren fires real bullets from what appear to be SMG's, which already shoot faster than regular pistols. Kid is fast, but without Beelzebub, he is not fast enough to dodge bullets. Even the mighty Death Cannon is quite slow and can be dodged as long as you don't stand in front of it like an idiot, so he had little chance of hitting the far more mobile Ren.
Ren is highly more experienced that Kid when it comes to close quarters combat, as he employs it far more often than Kid does. Ren balances long and close range combat very well throughout the series while Kid really only fights up close and personal twice and wasn't shown to be that good at it, as Black Star still managed to trip him up several times. The only real reason he beat Black Star in hand-to-hand combat the second time was because Black Star was suffering from crippling doubt and depression… And possible heart problems. Meanwhile, accounting his training in Beacon as a Hunter, and his days training with Nora before that, Ren had no chance of missing a beat up close. His Aura also played a big part in dealing the finishing blow.
Kid is far more durable than Ren, but he has no aura, so he does take the full force of the hit, while Ren's aura prevents him from taking serious injury and he has used it to actually stop devastating attacks. And while Kid has taken down tougher opponents in his lifetime, ren has dealt with similar if not equal odds. In the Beacon Entrance test, he faced off against the two-headed King Taijitu alone, and even ripped a fang out of one's mouth, impaled it in the eye with its own fang, then channeled his aura through the fang to blow up the head. That's freakin' hard core. AND in the last leg of said exam, Ren was able to take a clubbing blow from the Death Stalkers pincer into a ruin and was flung from the tail into a stone wall, then somehow found the strength to get back over to his teammates despite the injuries he withstood after Nora had finished it.
Beelzebub provided Kid with a minor boost in speed and maneuverability, allowing him to stay at a distance and avoid Ren's bullets, but that still didn't make him fast enough to hit Ren. Although he could catch him off-guard with the skateboard and maybe land a few lucky hits, but not enough to put Ren down.
To summarize, Ren has the advantage in speed, skill experience and technically better weaponry, while Kid really only had the advantage in strength, although not by much and durability and ultimately lacked the means to hit Ren and keep him down.
