I was currently getting ready for school when Seth walked into the room.

"Do you think I made the right decision cutting my hair?" He asked. I thought it looked pretty much the same.

"So, Caleb is a little of trouble." I remarked as I held the newspaper.

"Damn that barber. He makes my head look too big." He added. "How do you work with this mirror?"

For starters, he was using the wrong mirror. The good one was in the bathroom.

"Do you seriously not care at all that our grandpa is in jail?" I inquired. His self-centeredness was reaching a whole new level.

"I know I was in that picture, but I cut out because of my hair." He remarked.

"It's good to know you care." I stated.

"It'll grow back." He said.

"We're talking about Caleb." I replied. "You know you're never going to get Holly back if all you care about is yourself."

"My God, Summer was right." He realized.

"What did Summer say?" I asked. I must have missed that conversation and he didn't tell me either.

"That I was an asshole." He explained. "Here I am going on and on about my haircut when my grandpa is in the big house. I'm a monster because I'm all I think about it."

"The step is realizing you have a problem." I told him.

"Talk to me about anything besides me." He ordered.

"Well I started a journal." I declared as I picked the yellow book off the floor.

"Can you stop fretting about diary? We have a real crisis on our hands." Seth replied. "Why didn't you just tell me?"

"I can't tell you when you don't listen." I remarked.

"I have to change that then." He declared. "I have to be a better person."

"How are you gonna do that?" I asked as I went to get my purse.

"I need to be less selfish. You know less pitching more catching." He explained.

"I'm used to it. You don't have to change for me." I declared as I packed my bag.

"They're not for you." He stated.

"For who then? Summer? Holly?" I questioned.

"I think they're for the greater good of man." He replied.

"So, they're no hidden agenda here?" I asked.

"What hidden agenda?" Kaitlin inquired as she walked in and gave me a kiss. She was wearing a black halter top with denim miniskirt and black and turquoise tennis shoes.

"Seth wants to be less self-centered so Holly will like him." I replied.

"No, it's for the greater good of humanity." Seth argued. "I don't even want Holly back…unless that is what she wants. In which case that's not about me…that's about me supporting her and her wanting something."

"Should we tell him he's already failing?" Kaitlin whispered.

"No." I whispered back.

Later, the three of us were at school in the coffee line. It seemed like she was still the only one who wanted to be seen with us.

"Kaitlin, what would you like?" Seth asked my girlfriend.

"Are you buying?" I asked. That would be different of him.

"No, but I'm letting you two order first." He answered. "I may be selfless but I'm still pretty stingy."

I wasn't going to tell him that that was a Jewish stereotype. It was a few seconds before he spoke again.

"I'll have a large coffee." He said. We both looked at him. "I'm moving things along."

"How are the smoothies?" I questioned. "You know we'll just take two."

At that point, he grabbed a flier off of the table. That was the first time I had ever seen anyone read one of those.

"There's a new club at the pier that Hey Monday is playing at." He stated. What? How did I not know about it? "You who loves Hey Monday?"

"Sammie?" Kaitlin guessed.

"Well yes, but also Holly." Seth replied. That was because I got her into them.

"Holly's going out with Zach." I pointed out.

"Then I'll buy Holly and Zach tickets." He reasoned.

"Why?" Kaitlin asked.

"To show that I am a good friend and that I am selfless." He stated. "If it happens to lead her my way, that'll be great."

He then walked away leaving us by ourselves.

"He's delusional." Kaitlin commented before taking a sip of her smoothie. "These are really good."

"So how does Marissa feel about the whole arrest thing?" I questioned.

"It's nothing that she hasn't dealt with before." She commented.

"You know it seems like your mom doesn't have the best taste in men." I declared.

"You forget that it was her overspending that led my dad to embezzle in the first place." She declared.

Later, I went to my locker, which seemed to be right next to Summer's. I wasn't sure how that happened. She was looking at Zach.

"Is it wrong that I'm jealous for wanting Holly's boyfriend." She asked.

"You know he's a lot like Seth without being self-centered." I pointed out.

"Which makes him the perfect guy." She countered. Seth would probably tell her to date him so he could date Holly. I still wasn't sure why he wasn't trying to win Summer back. Yes he had her and lost her to another girl, but he had also obsessed over for many, many years.

"Well I have to go to my writing class." I responded. "I'll see you later."

I then went to class and found that there was a bunch of computers in the room. I took a seat and looked at the screen.

"Mind if I sit here?" A voice asked. That almost sounded like…it couldn't be…I looked up and it was.

"What are you doing here?" I questioned.

"This is an elective, so I signed up as soon as I heard you were taking it." Kaitlin explained. "It's nice that we finally have a class together."

"I didn't know that you like to write." I remarked. I hoped that the class wouldn't be too hard for her.

"I'm not much of a writer, but that's the thing about high school. You find out things that you like that you like." She said.

"Alright, everyone welcome to the class. I am Miss Singleton." The teacher greeted us. The first thing that I noticed was that she was Australian…or British, but I was pretty sure she was Australian. I also noticed that the class was dominantly female. "For starters, I'd like for you to get to know the person sitting next to you and write a short summary about them including their name, interests, and whatever else you can think of."

"Um Miss Singleton." I interrupted as I raised my hand. Everyone looked at me. I hated being the center of attention in class. "The person next to me is my girlfriend."

"Then this should be an easy assignment for you." She stated.

After school, the three of us decided to check out this bait shop place. I personally thought it was a weird name since no one went fishing in Newport.

"Wait, this is the place we saw Paramore." I remembered. I had tried to black out a lot of those memories because unfavorable incidents.

"We danced together that night." Kaitlin replied before we walked in. The first thing we noticed was that the place seemed to be empty. I supposed it wasn't surprising considering it was daytime.

We did one person. It was a blonde woman with a purple streak in her hair wearing headphones.

"Hello, we're here about tickets." Seth remarked. She didn't respond.

"She's wearing headphones." I pointed out. I thought it didn't need to be said.

Seth then went over to her and tapped her on the shoulder. I was glad that I didn't do it because she turned around and put him in a headlock.

"Touch me again and I will kill you." She replied. She then looked at us and took off her headphones. "What do you want?"

"Tickets to Hey Monday." I answered.

"They're sold out. Sorry." She responded. Damn it. I really wished that someone had told me before.

"All done, Alex." Some guy in front of a microphone said.

"Alright, here are your tickets." Alex replied before she handed him an envelope presumably containing tickets.

"Why does he get tickets?" Kaitlin inquired.

"He works here." Alex pointed out.

"Well if I worked here, could I get tickets?" Seth inquired.

"You don't work here." Alex declared.

"Well what about that?" Seth asked, referring to a help wanted sign.

"You don't want that job." Alex told him.

"Sure I do." Seth replied. I had feeling that he might regret that.

"You don't know anything about the pay, hours or job duties." Alex pointed out.

"It doesn't matter." He stated. I had a feeling he would really regret that.

"Well you'll be taking tickets, cleaning bathrooms, occasionally preparing fried foods. Basically, everything I don't want to do." She responded. I didn't see why we didn't just buy tickets from the internet. We had the money for them considering we were all wealthy, including Kaitlin after the marriage.

"Okay, I'm Alex. You can start right now." Alex declared as she handed him a mop and walked away.

"I have a mop." Seth declared.

"Seth, let me make one thing clear. If you only get a ticket for Holly, I will hurt you." I told him. Part of me wanted to see if she needed waitresses because I was not going to miss the show.

"I'm going to go change the urinal cakes now." He said before he rolled the mop away. He then rolled it back. "I don't actually know where the bathroom is."

The next morning, I was writing in my journal while Dad was having breakfast.

"Look at you doing homework at the breakfast table." He remarked.

"It's for my creative class. You know I actually a class I'm excited to go to." I stated.

"Why's that?" He asked.

"Kaitlin is in it." I answered. He looked at me. "We're not going to distract each other during class. We have after class to do that."

"God, my back." Seth complained as he came into the kitchen. "Personal growth is so painful."

"My son doing manual labor. I thought I'd never live to see the day." Dad remarked as Mom walked into the room.

"Mom, look at this irony." Seth declared. "Samantha is this book nerd and I have a part-time job."

"That's nice sweetie." She replied.

"Mom?" Seth inquired.

"Oh, don't worry. Your grandpa's situation is very serious, but your father and I are handling it." She said as she turned to face all of us.

"Oh grandpa, I haven't even…" Seth started before I glared at him. "…slept well these past few nights. I am very concerned for his wellbeing."

"I'm sure everything will be fine, right?" I asked.

"Of course." Mom agreed. I wasn't sure how convincing it was. She then looked at Dad. "Right?"

"Right." He replied.

"But what if he did have to prison?" Seth suggested.

"Don't worry. It won't affect you." Dad assured him.

"He wouldn't lose his company?" Seth asked. I was starting to get uncomfortable.

"No." Mom replied.

"What about the house?" Seth continued.

"Seth! That's crazy talk." Dad responded. Now I felt really uncomfortable.

At school, I started to wonder what I could write about. There was this big assignment for the semester. We needed to write a story of at least 50 pages. It was tough, but I could do it as long as I didn't procrastinate. I hoped I wouldn't procrastinate.

"So, do you think Seth will be able to get tickets?" Kaitlin asked.

"I really hope that he does." I responded. "So, is it just me or did that girl from the club seem kind of young?"

"She probably just looks young." Kaitlin suggested. "Now are we going to watch The Valley together tonight?"

"Only if we work on this big assignment together." I proposed. She gave me a look. "I know we have all semester, but if we wait too long, we'll have week and we won't even have started yet."

The following day, I found out that Seth had only got tickets for Holly and Zach. I couldn't believe it. I had a poster of Cassadee Pope on my wall. I wanted to try to stay calm. I could check the internet. There had to be someone willing to sell their tickets. I was going to see that show.

"I got you tickets." Seth said. I then hugged him. "I was going to surprise you, but I didn't want to make you wait."

That night, I put on a blue cardigan with a black spaghetti-strapped dress with blue heels, I was so excited to go to the show. Once inside, I took a soda to Seth at the ticket thing.

"So, have you seen Holly yet?" I questioned before giving Kaitlin a kiss. I was surprised that she didn't want to come with us.

"I bet Holly decided to ditch the show and go to Incubus with Zach." Seth suggested.

"First, Holly doesn't like Incubus and second, you would be happy for her because you're her friend." I declared.

At that time, Holly walked in…with Summer.

"Holly, Summer?" Seth asked. "Where's Zach?"

"He couldn't make it." Holly lied. I wondered if Seth knew she was lying.

During the intermission, Kaitlin and I decided to go outside for some air. It was at that point that I couldn't help but notice a familiar face sitting on a bench on the pier.

"Hey." I greeted her.

"Hey." She replied.

"What are you doing here?" Kaitlin questioned. They still didn't seem to be on good terms.

"I just needed to get out of the house." Marissa answered. "So, what are you two doing here tonight?"

"We're seeing Hey Monday." I replied. The band is going back on in a few minutes.

"Summer said that she was going to that with Holly." Marissa explained. "Zach didn't want to go."

"Well do you think Holly and Seth will get back together?" I inquired. "I wonder if he still has a shot with Summer."

"He probably has better shot with Summer than Holly." Marissa suggested.

"Well we need to get back inside." Kaitlin stated before she dragged me away.

"Will you please try to fix things with her?" I questioned. "It hurts me to see that you two can't even get along."

"Well she won't even give Caleb a chance." She pointed out. "I think for all of his faults, he really does love my mom."

"She's still your sister." I replied. "I guess right now, we should enjoy the music while watching the awkwardness of Seth and Holly together."

I noticed that the two of them were pretty awkward. It was like they didn't know how to make small talk or be friends. Maybe they were both nervous. Maybe it was because she still had feelings for him. If any other band was playing, I would spend more time paying attention. Some might say that I wasn't the best sister but it was fucking Hey Monday. Besides, I knew that Seth would tell me all about it because that was one part of him that would never change.

"So, you didn't tell me that your brother got a job just to get tickets for Holly." Summer said.

"It wasn't just for Holly." I stated. I really wanted to say that he got them for me too. She just looked at me. "Fine, it was just for Holly. He really wanted to impress her."

"I kind of want to get them back together." She admitted.

"That's something that they need to work out on their own." Kaitlin opined. "Why don't we talk about you?"

However, before she could say anything, I noticed that Holly ran out and Seth followed behind him. I had a feeling that he had screwed it up.

The next morning, I was preparing to go to the library with Kaitlin. We were going to meet at the library so we didn't do anything else. Seth was talking to me about how he blew it with Holly. I knew he would.

"I shouldn't have returned her phone calls." He stated.

"She never called you." I pointed out.

"And I should have dated other girls." He added.

"Seth, you don't know any other girls except Summer, who may not be interested in guys." I declared. I hadn't been able to get that out of her because the music that had played. "I'm sorry about what happened but I have to get to the library."

"On a Saturday?" He asked.

"It's a study date." I told him.

"Come on, I just need to talk about me for a few more hours." He begged.

"I thought you weren't going to do that anymore." I remarked.

"That was the new Seth Cohen." He responded. "I'm back."

"Well Samantha Cohen has to go." I declared before I left.

Once I got to the library, I couldn't help but wonder if Seth found anyone to talk to,

"What's on your mind?" Kaitlin asked. "What kind of story are we going to write?"

"First, each need to write our own stories." I pointed out. "And to answer your question, I'm thinking about Seth. I don't know if I'm being a good sister by not helping him with Holly."

"Well as someone who hasn't been a very good sister lately, I can tell you that there is only so much you can do." She remarked. "You're the one who said that you didn't want to get distracted. If Seth and Holly are meant to be, they will get back together. So, how do you think I can rebuild me my relationship with Marissa?"

"What's something that both of you like?" I asked.

"I am not even sure what she likes anymore." She admitted.

"I think I found a topic that you can write about." I suggested. "You can use your relationship with Marissa and turn it into a story. Two sisters that are living together but somehow estranged sounds like it has a lot of potential."

"What are you going to write about?" She asked.

"I haven't decided yet. I could tell my own story, but I don't know if anyone wants to hear it." I replied.

"Why don't you tell your own story but add a twist to it." She suggested. "Like make it fantasy or science fiction, or even set it in a different time period. You have a lot of potential with that."

"You know I'm glad that we need to get be in this class together." I declared before I gave her a kiss.
"Do you think that we have done enough brainstorming?" She asked.

"Maybe we should do a little more." I replied. "Maybe we can do it in pool house."

It's an update after several years. I was wanting to come back to this story. We have Alex. Maybe she'll stay in the story longer. Maybe she won't. Also what's up with Summer? Please don't forget to review.
