Chapter 27

"I don't see anything" Carlisle friend says, his voice full of curiosity. Carlisle steps back away from us rubbing his chin, his face puzzled. "Are you sure you saw what you saw?"
"I'm sure" Carlisle says "The entire pack was surrounded by Alec's fog even Jacob here, but still wasn't effected"
"That's very strange. The only thing I think that would have an affect against Alec is a shield; and the only other one I know of is in the guard" He sighs "And even then she is just a physical shield" He walks away for a minute staring at the books on the shelf in the doctor's office.
"Jacob" The doctor begins, I look at him his mind must be racing from the way he is standing very still. Usually he tries to act like a human. "What about Bella?" He begins.
"What about her?" I counter.
"Who is Bella?" The guys asks turning around suddenly.
"She is Jacob's imprint" Doc says.
"That means you are linked by mind, soul, and body?" I nod slowly, trying to understand what they're getting at. "That means that if she is the reason you are invincible then you are by imprint linking to that gift and vice versa if you had a gift." Bella makes me invincible? "Can I meet this Bella?" I shrug, not seeing why it would hurt.
"I'll have the pack bring her over" I say wanting her to be guarded at all times around these vampires or any vampires. I pull out my phone and call dad.
"Hello"
"Dad I need you to bring Bella and Charlie over here with Seth Leah and Arron" Maybe Charlie had something to do with this as well.
"Why?"
"The doc…" I hand the phone over when he reaches for it.
"Hello Billy, this is Carlisle I was wondering if you could bring over Bella and her father for an examination. I think Jacob would be more comfortable if there were more wolves here with them as well"
"Okay, I don't know why he couldn't have just said that. We'll be over in ten." Being able to hear the conversation between the doc and my father, because of my sensitive hearing, I reach for the phone when I hear it click off.
"Jacob can I get you anything to eat?" Esme asks from the door.
"Um sure" I say, knowing I could eat it before the others get here.
"Let's head down to the kitchen to make it more comfortable for everyone" the Doc's friend suggests. I nod and head down the stairs sitting at a bar stool. "Jacob tell me about Bella's life"
"Um her parents split up when she was a baby; but we just came to find out that it's because her mom was imprinted on and moved with his pack to Arizona and then to Florida. She then moved back to Washington at the beginning of this school year to live with her dad. I imprinted on her a month later after I phased."
"What about Charlie, what's his story?"
"I think he was adopted as a child. He didn't know his real parents and his adopted parents died when he was in his twenty's. That's all he ever really told my dad and I."
"What is their last name?" Where was he going with this?
"Swan" I say slowly trying to figure out his means.
"Interesting. Is that his adoptive parents name or is original name"
"It's the name I was given by my real parents" Charlie states while coming inside, Bella, Leah, Seth, Aaron, and Billy follow in behind him. "Now what is this all about?"
"I believe you and Bella might be from the Swan Clan. But I'll have to call Eric and have his clan come down here; we may need them for the battle anyways."
"The Swan what?" He asks shocked.
"There are a group of shifters that go under the name the Swan clan. They don't shift into an animals like the shifters here they're more of a creature or mythical being. I was curious about your background because Eric Swan has a brother that was kidnapped as a new born and wasn't ever found."
"What do they shift into?" I ask curiously.
"They are an elven creature, not like the story book ones; you know short creatures from that wizard book but kind of more like the ones from the Hobbit only more powerful; the royal families have wings sometimes well as said in legend. You will have to listen to their stories and tall tales to get a better understanding; I've only heard bits and pieces." Carlisle says coming down the stairs holding a book. I hadn't realized he left.
"So you think Bella and Charlie are elves?" Seth asks earning a slap from Leah but I'm sure she was curious as to the answer as well.
"I believe they might be" He says slowly, "I'm Eleazar by the way" He says turning to Charlie and Bella; I guess I should remember his name since he might be of help to my family. "Carlisle's cousin from Alaska" He confirms, Charlie smiles.
"How is the fishing up there?"
"I haven't had the opportunity to do much; but we have a cabin if you're interested in taking trip"
"I'll have to make time to do so." Wow Charlie is really starting to like this guy; he should be in shock, then again dad did phase in front of him. "So why do you think Bella and I might be from this clan?"
"Because your story fits; adopted at a young age, never met your parents, Swan isn't a very common name; I've been to many countries and still the only Swans I know of are you and the elven creatures, and your daughter has a gift she has the power of a mental shield, it even connects to Jacob because of their bonded souls"
"Do I have a gift?" He asked, excitement in his eyes.
"Not that I can see" Charlie's smile fades "But sometimes gifts take until the first phase to come through, until then I can't be certain. If you are who I think you are; you should have phased most royals do. Which reminds me; I should call up Eric and invite the clan down here."
"They can stay with us" Charlie suggests
"There are many of them; I doubt they'll fit in your house. I'll get them a place to rent while they're here" Carlisle suggests, but don't worry it will be close to home. Charlie simply nods. Eleazar pulls out his phone walking away.
"Hey Rosie can I speak to your father?" A moment of silence passes as we stare each other down in the room; with Seth trying to make us laugh with weird looks and bird man shots. "Hey Eric it's Eleazar" He laughs a little "I know I haven't called in a while; oh no nothing is wrong" He sighs "Ok something is wrong just an all-out battle between us the Volturi and vampires paired up with shifters" Another moment of silence passes "I am inviting you up for the battle buddy; but I have another motive for calling you as well. What was your brother's name?" He waits "I know you don't like talking about it, but maybe it's time we brought it up again? For Charlie's sake?" A loud gasp comes from the other end. "Great I'll see you in a few hours" He turns back to us as he hangs up his phone. Charlie just watches him.
"So his brother's name is Charlie" Leah asks.
"Yes, I believe I am correct but a blood test is the only way of knowing for sure. Charlie are you ready to meet the family you never knew"
"Um, I guess" He says slowly. "I still don't understand; I was kidnapped?"
"Yes" Carlisle says walking into the other room for ten minutes before coming back out carrying a handful of papers "I actually remembered where I put the articles that they put out all those years ago; Esme and I had tried to help out the family. They had one for the human world and the other for the supernatural community. He handed both over to Charlie I peak over Bella's shoulder to look. Charlie gives the articles to Bella and pulled out his wallet handing a picture of a baby to her as well. The baby looks like the ones in the article.
"Is that you" Bella asked running her finger down the side of the picture.
"Yes, that was when I was adopted at 9 months. Those are my adopted parents Susan and Mike" He pointed to the golden eyed people standing behind him. If he wasn't told he was adopted it sure was obvious based on the appearance of the people behind him and how he turned out.
"Oh my word" Carlisle whispers taking the picture and articles into his hands comparing the picture of the 'missing' child and Charlie's baby picture. "These two people look familiar" He said suddenly handing the picture to Eleazar who also gasps.
"Yes they do actually now that you mention it, what did you say their names were?"
"Susan and Mike Alispear" He gasps again.
"I don't think it was by chance you were adopted by this couple" He says finally.
"What does that mean?" He holds up a finger while taking time to send a text message.
"It means I think the people who kidnapped you, left you at an adoption center then went back and adopted you to have a cover story." He says slowly, "These people used to work for Aro until they were killed in a battle; did they ever go away on long trips?"
"Yes, they had business trips in France and Japan a lot. They were in an airplane crash, or at least that's what I was told" He whispered the last part shrugging his shoulders. "This is so much to take in" he sighs staring at his shoes.
"I know Charlie; do you want to lay down or have something to eat?"
"Vampires have food?" He exclaims his eyes growing wide. Billy must have told him about vampires; I look to my dad expectantly only to find him fake whistling while looking at the ceiling.
"Yes, and we're actually very good at cooking" Esme joked setting down food in front of me and Bella, coming back out with two more plates for whoever claimed them first. She did this until everyone who ate food, had food.
"This is the best food ever" Seth practically fell into his plate to eat with his mouth; I'm sure if Leah wasn't here, to rat him out to their mother, he would have.
"Seth easy, there's plenty of leftovers" His eyes grow wide at Esme's words. "You can even take them home, but only if you slow down and not make out with your plate"
"Ok!" He almost screams picking up his fork and times his eating with Bella's speed by watching her pick up each bite full.
"Seth you're creeping me out" She glares at him.
"But you're the slowest eater here. Please Bella can I copy you."
"Fine" She rolls her eyes setting down her fork smirking in his direction.
"Bella" He whines setting down his fork pouting at her. "Jacob control your woman"
"I don't think that's helping your cause bro" I laugh turning around on my bar stool having just finished my food.
"I just acquired a house in Forks for the Swans" Carlisle announces; Charlie's jaw drops.
"Its nine o clock at night. What real estate office is open this late" Charlie asks throwing his hand in the air.
"I called a friend. He works with me on occasion at the hospital and has a home here when he does come up. But he left me the keys to winterize it because he won't be back until next year. So we have little over a year to use it to our needs"
"Wow, I wish my buddies were that nice at work" He grumbles.
"My friend offered you his cabin in Alaska. So technically you're building your contacts"
"I guess so" he sighed. "So how are they going to be here in a few hours and where are they coming from?"
"I'm not sure of their exact location; but they have the power of teleportation, as do you two when you learn it, so they need a few hours to get their families together and build an army for the battle. The rest are staying behind to guard their territory"
"Hello old friend, talking shit about me already" we hear a loud voice from the door making everyone in the room jump. Man he was really discreet about entering the house and sneaking up on us.
"Of course not, just explaining your tactics; like how you have the gift of silencing yourself" The man rolled his eyes with a small smile on his face. He grows quiet when his eyes come across Charlie and Bella.
"Mom, Dad" Eric called over his shoulder not tearing his eyes from the man who looked similar to himself. It's like he and Charlie could have been twins. Two more people entered the house behind him followed by many kids and several more people behind those. "You must be Charlie" He begins once he was satisfied with the occupation of the house. Charlie nods shaking his hand; pulling back suddenly when a spark happens.
"This is my daughter Isabella"
"Nice to meet you Isabella"
"Bella" She whispers shaking his hand feeling the same zap.
"Charlie, Bella, this is Sarah and Brent; our parents and your grandparents Bella" Charlie stared in awe, small tears pressed at the corners of his eyes. I step back from the group, standing back with Leah and Seth. Bella steps forward next to her father after my presence isn't beside her. The resemblance between them is astounding, they all match with the dark hair and chocolate brown eyes and pale skin.
"Eric how come they haven't phased yet?" Carlisle asks.
"We adapt to our surroundings. They were both forced into the human world so their bodies adapted and made it so they couldn't phase until surrounded by family." He explains, then turns to Charlie and Bella "You both will stop aging at first phase, receive your gifts, powers and become stronger as your human side, much like the other shifters in the room." Eric nods to us, Seth smiles and waves like an idiot.
"When does that happen?" Charlie asks, his voice full of curiosity and excitement.
"Should take a week for your body to adapt to our presence. It won't be painful, and unlike the animal shifters you won't lose your shorts."
"Do you imprint" Leah asks, her voice unsure.
"Yes, the males do. Females are imprinted on; by other shifters obviously"
"So they're rare for you as well"
"Female shifters aren't as rare as you may think." He begins pressing his fingers to his chin. "All of our people shift, and we have about two thousand clan members. Half women" My jaw drops; and so does Leah's. "We eventually find our mates as well; since we live until we stop phasing, which is technically until we want. I'll explain more at an elder meeting, or whatever you call them here."
"Bonfires, all the packs are invited with all members" Billy speaks up, making everyone turn to look at him as he was standing on the other side of the room.
"Does this mean I'm a princess?" Bella asks, I laugh slightly; every girls dream right?
"Technically yes" Eric laughs, "Oh and before you freak out, you both will gain wings during your phase; our non-royal members only gain the claws and ears during their phase, you well get those as well but those are normal."
"I have a house for you guys" Carlisle states handing them their keys. "I wanted to tell you before I leave; just got called in to the hospital" He says picking up his bag and walking out the door at vampire speed.
"See you later Carlisle" Eleazar calls turning back to us smiling. "I'm so glad you guys are here to help with the battle"
"So you say it's against the Volturi" we nod "Should be easy enough."
"Oh boy here we go again" Eleazar rolls his eyes. "Elven are the stronger species blah, blah, blah."
"But they are, we have stealth, we can fly, and we can blend in the human race, and what do you do? You sparkle in sunlight!" Eric counters.
"We're fast and strong too" Eleazar pouts jokingly. "Let's get you settled in for the time you're visiting. You can come back to the rez tomorrow and visit Charlie and Bella. I'm sure they're exhausted from all this knowledge intake anyways." Eric, Sarah, and Brent hug Charlie and Bella before leaving following Eleazar out the front door.
"Let's go home" Bella suggests, I nod pulling her to my side and follow the group outside into the dark moonless night.
