Caleb walked through the halls of the hospital heading to Carter's hospital room. He walked through the door and saw Carter sleeping still in the hospital bed hugging a stuffed bear in his uninjured arm. Hanna was sleeping in a chair near the bed with her head resting in her arm on the bed. Caleb half smiled watching the two sleeping. He still felt betrayed by Hanna but his love for her is bigger than his hate. Hanna suddenly stirred and sit up with her eyes still closed she stretched her arm as she slowly opened her eyes and almost fell from her sit when she saw Caleb standing by the foot of the bed.
"Caleb," she said surprised.
"Good Morning," Caleb casually said. He noticed Hanna's puffy eyes, proves that she had been crying.
"Caleb, I really wanted us to talk." Hanna said sincerely getting up from her seat.
"That's what I want too, I'm ready to talk." Caleb said sighing.
"I'm really sorry for keeping Carter a secret I just really wanted to protect him." Hanna said.
"Hanna, I can understand you now but before we can really talk, can I ask you something?" Caleb said looking in to her blue eyes feeling guilty that he's the reason that it looks sad and puffy.
"Anything?" Hanna said.
"Will you introduce me to Carter as his father?" Caleb said.
"I intended to when I decided to tell you everything last night but before we do your formal meeting, we have to go somewhere I have to tell you everything and I promise that no more lies between us." Hanna said truthfully.
"Good because I'm not really a big fan of lies and secrets." Caleb said sarcastically.
Hanna stepped forward and touched his arms. "I'm sorry, please... Will you forgive me?" Hanna said sincerely, still touching his arms.
"You should know that I can't really be mad at you for long." Caleb said with a serious expression.
Hanna tiptoed and grabbed him by the neck placing a kiss on his lips. She was about to let go when Caleb hugged her by the waist making the kiss much deeper. Caleb was amazed of how Hanna can easily melt his tough facade when he's mad. Hanna is really the death of him. He sucked on her bottom lip making the kiss much deeper sliding his tongue inside her mouth. Their tongues fight for dominance for a long time 'till they got interrupted by Carter waking up.
"Mommy?" he asked rubbing his eyes with his good hand.
Hanna and Caleb quickly pulled away and looked at Carter.
"Hey Baby Good morning," Hanna said leaning by the bed looking at Carter.
"Caleb?" Carter asked as he laid his eyes on Caleb.
"You know him?" Hanna asked.
"He's the guy I hit with the Frisbee in the park, Mommy." Carter explained.
"Oh..." Hanna said.
"Hey kid, how are you doing?" Caleb said smiling at Carter.
"I'm fine." Carter said smiling at Caleb. "Caleb, why are you kissing my mommy?" he asked.
Hanna and Caleb were both taken aback by his question. Hanna glanced at Caleb who smirked mischievously at her.
"I-Uhm..." Caleb stuttered looking at Hanna asking for her help. Hanna just smiled at him amused.
"Girls have cooties, even mommy." Carter said.
"You'll understand me when you grow up, kid. I really don't care having cooties." Caleb said smiling at Hanna.
"Mommy, when can we come home? I want to play again." Carter said looking at Hanna.
"Later, this afternoon but you should know that I will allow you to play but no jumping on the couch or the bed, understand?" Hanna said in a motherly authoritative way.
"Okay," Carter said nodding.
"When Nana comes here, Caleb and I will leave for a while but we will be back before the doctors will let you come home, okay?" Hanna said.
"Okay," Carter said again. "Mommy, when will the doctors remove this?" Carter asked pointing at his cast.
"Next week, we will be back here and they will remove it." Hanna said.
"You know what kid, we could play with that." Caleb said gesturing at his cast.
"Really? How?" Carter asked.
"Wait for me, okay?" Caleb said heading out of the room.
"Okay!" Carter called out.
After few minutes, Caleb went back holding pentel pens in his hand.
"Caleb, what are you going to do with that?" Hanna asked.
"Just watch and learn, Princess." Caleb said winking at Hanna. "I'm going to make Cyborg Carter with ultra-powerful arm weapon." Caleb said childishly.
"Cool," Carter said with an amazed expression all over his face.
"That is, if you let me draw on your cast." Caleb told Carter.
"Okay," Carter said excitingly.
Caleb pulled a chair near the bed and sat on it and he started to draw like a robotic thing in Carter's cast.
"Okay Cyborg Carter, your arm weapon is all done." Caleb said standing up when he's done drawing on Carter's cast.
Carter pointed his arm on Caleb. "Don't use it on me." Caleb said.
"Too bad, Caleb I'll try it first on you." Carter said smiling. "Choog...Choog...BOOM." Carter said making a sound for his weapon.
Caleb jump and acted like he flew backwards because of the shot. "Ahhh..." Caleb said lying on the ground pretending that he is hurt.
"Cool," Carter said looking at Caleb.
Hanna just laughed at the two. They really looked good playing together.
Suddenly, the door burst open as Ashley and Ted walked in.
"Good Morning, Carter." Ashley greeted.
"Morning, Nana." Carter greeted as his eyes lit up.
"Good Morning Hanna, Carter." Ted greeted.
"Carter, I bring the pancakes." Ashley told Carter.
"Caleb, why are you lying in the ground?" Ted asked noticing Caleb.
"Hi Pastor Ted, Ms. Marin," Caleb greeted politely waving at the two.
"Cyborg Carter shot him, Grandpa." Carter answered showing the drawing in his cast.
"Oh, that's dangerous, buddy." Ted told Carter.
"Don't worry Grandpa, we were in a hospital, doctors can treat Caleb." Carter said and the adults all laughed.
"Alright Baby, I should take Caleb out so the doctors can treat him." Hanna said walking towards Caleb. She offered her hand to pull him up.
"Mommy, are you and Caleb leaving now?" Carter asked.
"Yes baby, Nana and Grandpa will watch you for now and were gonna be back before the doctors will let you go home, okay?" Hanna said.
"Okay," Carter said.
"Mom, can you watch Carter?" Hanna said looking at her mother.
"Of course, Honey." Ashley said.
Hanna smiled and pulled Caleb to the door.
"See you later, kid." Caleb said waving at Carter.
"See you later, Caleb. We'll play again." Carter said waving back at him.
"We will, Bye." Caleb said before he walked out the door with Hanna.
Hanna closed the door behind them and pulled Caleb by the hand walking through the halls of the hospital, heading out of the building.
"Carter is amazing." Caleb said squeezing Hanna's hand.
"He is, and he got almost all of your features by the way." Hanna said smiling at him.
"It just sucks that I missed five years of his life." Caleb said.
"I'm pretty sure you can catch up. I had DVD's of every first he had I can make a copy if you want." Hanna assured him.
"So, what is the thing that you needed to tell me before you introduce me to Carter as his father?" Caleb asked curiously.
"I'm taking you somewhere so I can explain much effectively." Hanna said pulling him out of the hospital.
They made their way to the parking lot to Hanna's car.
"Get in." Hanna instructed as she get in on the driver's seat. Caleb do what he is told and got in in the passenger seat.
"Where are we going?" Caleb asked as he slammed the car door shut.
"Please, can you stop asking and let me take you where I wanted to take you. I promised that you will get all your questions answered later." Hanna said as she started the engine of her car and pull out of the parking lot.
"Okay, but can you please tell me everything that you wanted to tell me last night." Caleb said.
"Where were we? Okay, I got into an accident when I was heading home when I thought you cheated on me and when I woke up in the hospital I found out that I am pregnant." Hanna said.
"Wait, why did you come to me that day?" Caleb said.
"I wanted to surprise you and tell you that the whole A mess is over. CeCe Drake is Big A and she died, the police shot her on the head when she tried to hostage me." Hanna said.
"That must've been really traumatic." Caleb commented.
"Tell me about it, sometimes I can still feel how the cold metal of the gun feels in my temple." Hanna said with fear and sadness evident in her voice as she stared distantly on the road ahead of her as she drove.
"I'm sorry," Caleb said touching her arm.
"It's not your fault if that bitch is pure evil." Hanna said.
"Still I'm sorry, you have been through all that and I wasn't even there for you and you even thought that I cheated when you come to me." Caleb said sincerely.
"At least, it's all over now." Hanna said bitterly.
Caleb unbuckled his seat belt and lean closer to Hanna kissing her in her temple. "From now on, I don't want you to remember how that gun feels in your head and remember how my lips felt instead." he whispered. Shivers run down Hanna's spine with Caleb's sweet gesture. When they reach a stop light and she came to a stop, she faced Caleb and planted a sweet lingering kiss on his lips.
"You're really sweet." she said smiling when they pulled away. Caleb smiled at her.
"The last thing that a guy wants a girl to describe him is sweet." Caleb commented.
"Whatever," Hanna said chuckling.
After few minutes of drive, Hanna pulled up in front of the flower shop where Caleb saw her few weeks ago. Hanna got out of the car and Caleb followed soon after. He just leaned by the car while Hanna buy flowers.
"What was that for?" Caleb asked when Hanna is already walking back to the car.
"You'll know soon." Hanna said as she placed the flowers in the back seat.
"Can you tell me now everything?" Caleb asked as he opened the car door for Hanna in the driver's seat.
"I'll continue my story once you hop in, so hop in the car now." Hanna said. Caleb shut the door on the driver's side and walked to the other side of the car to get in the passenger seat.
Hanna started the car again heading to the cemetery.
"Okay, when I found out I'm pregnant. My mom scheduled a doctor's appointment for me and on that day of the appointment we found out that I'm not just having one but two babies." Hanna confessed.
"Twins? Carter has a twin." Caleb said surprised.
"Yes his name is Harbin. I was so happy when I gave birth to the both of them successfully, I almost forget about you and all the heartbreak and disappointment that I had in my life. I thought that I could finally live my life happily with just the both of them. The picture in my wallet with twin babies on it that you saw when you got my wallet, it was them when they were about six months old." Hanna said trying her best not to cry remembering her other angel.
"What happened with him? With Harbin? Where is he? Where is my other son?" Caleb asked.
Hanna braced herself. Harbin is a really sensitive subject for her. She's already in a verge of breaking down just hearing Caleb's voice asking her questions about their dead child. "Can we please talk about it later? I'll explain everything later." Hanna said with a crack on her voice.
Caleb knows Hanna too well to not push her with the subject she doesn't want to talk about, but the thought of his child in foster care or have been adopted has been bugging in his head and he wanted to know the answer but he kept his silence. Questions in his mind keeps flooding in as he watched Hanna turned to the entrance of Rosewood cemetery. He became nervous and nauseous at the same time thinking that his other son might be dead. A pang of guilt stabbed hard at his whole being thinking that he never even got a chance to hold his son. He felt even more tense when Hanna pulled up and got out of the car without saying anything. Caleb just followed her getting out of the car. Hanna retrieved the bouquet of flowers that she bought from the flower shop from the back seat of the car.
Caleb wanted to say something and ambushed Hanna with questions that had been bugging him but he can't get himself to do it. He was scared of the answers he might get. He just kept his mouth close as he watched Hanna walked through the pathway leading further inside the cemetery. He followed behind her with his arms crossed into his chest with his heart pounding so hard thinking what is about to come.
Hanna suddenly came to a stop in a gravestone underneath a tree. Caleb looked at the name carved on it. Harbin Caleb Marin.
"He's Carter's twin brother, your son." Hanna managed to say in a verge of tears. She put down the flowers in front of the gravestone. Caleb just stood still behind her watching her every move.
"Hey Lil' warrior, I brought your daddy with me." Hanna said trying to be cheerful.
Caleb step forward and uncrossed his arms and hugged a teary eyed Hanna from behind resting his head on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry." Caleb whispered closing his eyes tight not wanting his tears to fall down his face. "I'm sorry." he repeated.
"God, I'm really really sorry I should've stayed with you. I should be with you when you went through the pregnancy and all those tough things." Caleb said sincerely.
"I wish I could've at least touched you, hold you and play with you, Harbin." Caleb said looking at the grave of his son.
Hanna touched Caleb's arm in a sweet comforting gesture. She removed from his grip and faced him. He was unaware of the tears that just slipped down his face. Hanna wipe his tears with the pad of her thumb, Caleb did the same with her tear-stained face.
"Hanna, I'm sorry. I wish I could go back in time and be there beside you when you carried our children and when you went through all the good and bad stuff in that six long years." Caleb said looking into her eyes.
"It's not your fault, It's partly mine. I have been an emotional wreck when we broke up then I found out that I'm pregnant. My dad adds up to the drama wanting me to abort my children and if I don't abort them he told me that I should forget that I have a dad because he won't give his help to me and any of my children. I told him that I already forget that he even existed because he hasn't been there for everything I've been through and I don't need him anyways I can live without him in my life ever. Those stress, depression and disappointments that I've been through caused Harbin to have some kind of an inborn heart disease." Hanna said through her tears. She then continued telling Caleb everything.
"I found out about it when I gave birth to them, Carter is healthy but Harbin isn't. The doctor says that it is normal that one is weaker than the other. I was told that Harbin's life is at risk so we needed to take good care of his health. When the twins are about nine months old, Harbin got sick and his heart condition got critical, we rushed him to the hospital because he can't even barely breathe, the doctor advised that we could do surgery to extend his life but it was a 50-50 chance if he could survive or not. The doctors scheduled the surgery months after the twins first birthday. I waited 5 long hours outside the operating room praying that Harbin will survive but he didn't. His heart just stopped and I felt my world crumbling down again." Hanna said through her sobs leaning her head into Caleb's chest. Caleb held her tight into his chest not wanting her to let go. Tears poured out from his eyes and it doesn't seem to end as he felt the sadness through Hanna's cries. He wanted to smack himself, he wanted to blame himself for a lot of things that the love of his life have to went through alone, without him.
"I'm sorry I should've take care of him more and I should have take care of myself more when I was pregnant." Hanna said through her sobs soaking his shirt.
"Shhh... It's not your fault. Everything that happened to us has its own purpose. Things happened to let us learn and make us stronger." Caleb said rubbing her back soothing and comforting her.
"I'm just sorry." Hanna said.
"Hanna, look at me." Caleb said tilting head to make her look at him. "It's not your fault, stop blaming yourself. None of it was your fault and as a matter of fact I even admire you for how you get through all of that. Carter and Harbin are really lucky to have you as their mom and I'm the luckiest too to have great kids with you." Caleb said sincerely.
"You're not mad at me anymore by keeping you things this big?" Hanna said looking up at him.
"I love you more than I could be mad at you and I came to see you today to understand you and not fight and argue with you." Caleb said honestly.
"Thank you for everything." Hanna said looking up at him.
"Stop crying now, Princess." Caleb said wiping away her tears by the pad of his thumbs.
"So, are you ready to be called Daddy?" Hanna asked starting to smile at him.
"Ready as I'll ever be." Caleb said matching her smile.
"Grandpa, can I still come with you this weekend even I have this in my arm?" Carter asked Jamie who is sitting on the foot of his bed while Ashley and Ted are sitting on the chairs near the bed.
"I don't think your mom will allow you because of what happened." Jamie told Carter truthfully.
"Uhhh... But I can still go with the other weekend, right?" Carter said.
"Maybe if you've been good and not hurt yourself again," Jamie said.
"You should try to be more careful from now on, Buddy." Ted said.
"Your Grandpas are right. Be more careful now, Carter. We don't want another Terminator weapon again, do we?" Ashley said.
"But this one looks great and it is more cool when Caleb drawn on it," Carter said raising his cast.
"Caleb?" Jamie questioned looking at Ashley and Ted.
"Caleb is the guy I hit with the Frisbee in the park, Grandpa." Carter said.
"He's here this morning." Ashley said looking at Jamie.
"Oh, he finally come up with his senses and realized how stupid he is." Jamie said.
"Maybe a little of your spanking do him good." Ted said.
"Grandpa Ted, Grandpa Jamie, what are you talking about?" Carter asked confused.
"It's nothing, Carter. It's an old man's talk." Ashley said looking at Jamie and Ted.
"Okay," Carter said.
Meanwhile, Hanna and Caleb are walking through the halls of the hospital heading back to Carter's hospital room. Hanna noticed Caleb's unsteadiness looking nervous and nauseous at the same time he took his hands to hers and squeezed it.
"Nervous?" Hanna asked giving him an encouraging smile.
"I don't know, maybe. I know it's not the first time I'll meet him but he's going to meet me as his dad and I don't know if he'll like me as his dad or not." Caleb said uncertainty and nervousness evident in his voice.
Hanna stopped walking and Caleb came to a halt too. Hanna looked at his face and push aside strands of hair covering his eyes. "It's gonna be fine, he likes you already and I know it'll work out." she said giving him a reassuring smile.
Caleb smiled back at her squeezing her hand. "I know I can do it as long as I'm with you." he said.
"So, are you ready to meet your son?" Hanna asked smiling at him widely.
"I guess I am and I think I'm ready to be a dad too." Caleb said starting to smile.
"I know you'll do great." Hanna said.
Then they continue to walk hand in hand to Carter's room. When they arrived they stopped in front of the closed door and Hanna throw Caleb a reassuring look once again. Hanna was about to twist the knob when Caleb stopped her.
"Wait," Caleb said.
"What? I thought you're-" Hanna was cut of mid-sentence with Caleb's lips crashing into hers. She willingly responded wrapping her arms around his neck. They shared a sweet lingering kiss for a while and pulled away at the same time with Caleb pressing his forehead to hers.
"I guess I'm ready, let's do this." Caleb said.
"Yeah, let's do this." Hanna said nodding at him placing a quick kiss on his lips.
I'm really really sorry for the delayed update, I know I said that you guys just give me a day but it takes longer than I think and I write and re-write some parts a few times. I really felt terrible, I'm really sorry... but I really hope this chapter would satisfy you guys though... I really hope you guys would enjoy this cuz I really work hard for this in days... And I hope the next chapter wouldn't take that long for me to put up...
