*Boltkit's P.O.V*

"It's all my fault," I scoffed, wrapping my tail between my paws. "If I hadn't said those mean things, Nightkit wouldn't have gone off." It had been a few days since the unfortunate news of Nightkit's drowning. I felt horrible about it.

"Don't blame yourself, Boltkit," Bumblekit nudged me.

"He's right," Brightkit added. "It's not your fault that Nightkit ran off." Sagekit came out of the nursery so we quieted down. She looked really sad, and she had every right to be. I left my littermates and padded over to her.

"Sagekit, can I talk to you?" I mewed. I didn't really know what I wanted to say, but I knew that I had to say something.

"Sure," she shrugged. She looked drained of all her energy, Nightkit had always had enough for the both of them.

"I just wanted to say that I'm sorry," I told her. "I never should have said those means things about your father. He really did try his best to protect us, and if I wasn't being so mean then Nightkit wouldn't have gone off,"

"Thanks," she nodded before padding off to find her mother. I watched my father emerge from his den and stand on the high rock, a sign that a Clan meeting was starting.

"Let every cat gather here to hear my words!" Foxstar called, tucking his tail around his paws while he waited for everyone to come out of their dens. My littermates and I padded over to Icestorm and took our places near the other kits.

"Is this what I think it is?" I asked my mother, but she just shushed me and turned to face my father. My belt bristled in anticipation. Is this what I think it is?

"There are a few kits who are ready to become apprentices," Foxstar mewed. "Sagekit, Bumblekit, Brightkit and Boltkit, please come forward." My littermates and I bounded forward excitedly with Sagekit following behind us slowly. I felt a twinge of guilt; Nightkit should be with us too, but it washed away temporarily once I turned towards my father. I had been looking forward to this for so long.

"This is awesome!" Brightkit mewed under her breath.

"Bumblekit, from this day forward until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Bumblepaw. Your mentor will be Cloudwhisper" The clan leader purred, as Cloudwhisper came forward. I watched my brother touch noses with his mentor before padding away to sit by Icestorm.

"Brightkit, you will called Brightpaw until you become a warrior. You will be mentored by Cedarleaf," Cedarleaf bounded forward delightfully to greet my sister. Each moment that passed made me even more excited. It was almost my turn.

"Boltkit, from this day forward, your name will be Boltpaw. Ashberry shall be your mentor," Yes! Ashberry is funnest warrior! Blazestrike used to tell us stories of how they would sneak out of the camp when Ashberry was an apprentice and he was a kit. I touched noses with my mentor and padded over to my littermates. We're apprentices now!

"Sagekit," Foxstar purred, looking down at the little she-cat with sad eyes. "From this day forward you will be known as Sagepaw, and Stormcloud will be your mentor," Sagepaw touched noses with her mentor before padding over to her parents.

"Bumblepaw! Brightpaw! Boltpaw! Sagepaw!" The clan chanted. This is awesome! We are finally apprentices! Nightkit should be here.

*Blazestrike's P.O.V*

"Congratulations," I purred, nuzzling Sagepaw's head. "You'll be a great apprentice,"

"I know," She nodded. I could see the sadness in her eyes and I know that we are both thinking the same thing. Nightkit should be here.

"Nightkit is watching over us," I told her, though I could tell that it didn't make either of us feel better.

"Hey, come on Sagepaw, we're going to go on border patrol." Stormcloud padded over, and I couldn't help but feel relieved. At least training would get her mind off her sister.

"Okay," Sagepaw mewed. "Bye, Blazestrike," I watched as she padded away with her mentor and the rest of the patrol. I glanced over at the fresh-kill pile, noticing that it was a little low so I decided to go out and hunt. I caught Tigerlily's scent when I was near the border so I followed it until I could see her familiar pelt amongst a group of her clan mates, most likely a border or hunting patrol. Her ears pricked and she turned, grinning when she saw me. She mewed something to her patrol and then bounded over.

"Blazestrike," She purred. "I thought I had caught your scent."

"Hello, Tigerlily," I dipped my head. "How's WindClan?"

"Not bad," she shrugged. "We have some new kits. And ThunderClan?"

"We have some new apprentices," I told her. "My daughter, Sagepaw is one of them,"

"Only Sagepaw?" she frowned. "Didn't you have another daughter?" My muscles tensed at the mention of Nightkit. We hadn't told the other Clans what had happened. Tigerlily must have sensed my sorrow because her expression shifted. "I'm so sorry,"

"It's okay," I nodded. "Nightkit is with Sandpaw,"

"What happened?" she asked, curling her tail around her paws.

"She drowned," I explained. "She left the camp and I followed her scent to the log, where she must have fallen in."

"Oh no," Tigerlily's eyes widened, tearing up a little.

"Its far too deep to retrieve her body," I mewed, shaking my head sadly.

"Blazestrike," she trailed off, her eyes were filled with sorrow, and something else.

"I'm going to miss her," I nodded, closing my eyes for a moment to picture how she looked, her shiny black pelt glistening in the sun as she playfought her sister.

"I'm so sorry," Tigerlily told me, taking a deep breath. "I didn't know." she added quietly.

"What do you mean?" I frowned.

"I didn't know she was your kit," she mumbled, and a strange feeling crept over me. Tigerlily was acting weird.

"What are you talking about?" I narrowed my eyes.

"I saw her," she said quietly. "On the log."

"You saw Nightkit?" My heart pace quickened. She saw my daughter?

"I thought she was trespassing." She shook her head. "I didn't know she was a kit! I shouted at her, and," she paused, her eyes clouded in sorrow. "And she was startled, and I watched her fall into the water,"

"You didn't help her?" Anger started to rise inside me.

"There wasn't anything I could do!" she shook her head. "I watched her go in, and then she was just gone. I'm no RiverClan cat,"

"You let my daughter drown!" I snarled, backing away from her. How could she? "I hate you," I snarled, dashing away before she could say anything else. How dare she let my daughter die!

Hey, so I know its been awhile since I have updated. I'm not dead! I've just been super busy with school and other things so I haven't really had time for writing...I don't like leaving things unfinished though so I'll be slowly trying to finish this as well as my other stories :)
