it was a couple days later. Morgan and my children were at school. Jasmine was at the house recoer recovering in her bed.

I went to her rm. knocked on her door: "knock knock."

she looked ym way: "oh hey...dad."

her tongue had trouble forming the word 'dad'. The dr. told us this was to be expected.

"hey baby how ya feelin?" I asked coming closer to her bed.

"well I just...um...got sick a few mins. Ago. And I have this horrible. Headache. What happened to me dad?"

"well um you sustained a concussion," I told her sitting in the folding chair close to her bed,

"no I mean other then that. I know...something...something else. Happened to me a couple. Days. Ago."

"i. your mother and I haven't discussed who's going to. Tell you that neither of us wants to."

"so something did happen then?"

"yes. Something did."

"where's mom?"

"she's at work right now."

"and where are alexa and lily?"

"they're at school."

"how come i'm not at school?"

"bc you need rest. 3 – 6 months of it actually."

"3 – 6 months?! But I...that's..."

"i know and i'm so sorry this happened to you."

"you don't know what this is like."

"actually. I do I suffered a concussion when I was in the war. Er the iraq war. It was before you were born."

"oh. My um...my lady...i. it. They feel. Different and that's how I know. I think. That," she said embarassed to bring this up in front of me.

I smiled.

"the less stimulation the better you have right now. Stimulation only. Becomes a hinderance to your recovery."

"stands in the way of," jasmine said translationg for herself: "right?"

"yes. Right. Now what will help you?"

"idinno maybe ice. I'm not sure well i'd do w/ swallowing pills right now. Or swallowing anything really."

"ok on that."

"and i'm in a lot of pain."

"you're going to be. There's, really no way around that."

"i'll probably sleep more."

"that's fine. Do you want to be woken up when?"

"no I. Maybe I don't know."

"ok. ok. I'll be back."

I left the rm.
