Jade was up and across the restaurant by the time I picked my jaw up off the table.
Before I knew what I was doing I was up and chasing down Jade, who once again only stopped to hold the door open for me.
"Jade what the hell" I almost scream trying to keep myself as calm as I could be. "We literally just talked about this, you can't be sayings like that to me."
Jade just laughs and rolls he eyes which manages to make me even more upset than I already was.
"Jesus Tori calm down. I didn't mean you specifically I just meant someone like you." Again Jade continued to walk to the car expecting me to follow her.
"What do you mean someone like me?" I demand, refusing to get into the car until I got the answers I deserved.
"Just get in the car okay? I'll tell you but we can't have a conversation like this in public. If someone from school hears or sees their gonna jump to conclusions."
Crap, I hadn't even thought about that which makes me feel incredibly stupid. I'm the adult and I couldn't even remember arguing with my student about things like this in public or even being see together in public could be very dangerous.
I get into the car and we drive towards my house for a few minutes before Jade finally starts explaining.
"I didn't mean I wanted to date you, I just meant if I wanted something more, like an actual relationship I would want it to be with someone like you." Jade resumes tapping her thumbs and I know this time she's nervous.
"Why would you want to be with someone who is like me?" I ask genuinely curious.
Jade sighs and stares straight ahead for so long I'm about to ask her again before she finally responds.
"You're a good person okay? I know I'm kind of an asshole but I try to be decent; and Cat and Beck, they're decent people too. I try to have good people in my life and you're one of the best people I've ever met. I'm old enough to know that this world is fucked up and people suck, but you're good, just genuinely no bullshit good."
I can't even think of a response to what she just said, which turns out to be a good thing as she continues after she notices I don't plan on speaking any time soon.
"I know I joked a lot and flirted with you a lot but I am capable of being with someone or more than a physical level, and if I was with someone like you I would want it to be more than just physical. You actually care, about all your students not just me. I haven't had a lot of people in my life care about me but I know you do. Even when I'm a complete bitch you're still nice and you don't give up on me. There's never been a time where we've been together and we were bored, I always have a great time with you. I could go on but what I'm trying to say is I really like who you are as a person, so if I were to ever want something more with someone then I would want to be with someone who is like you." Jade stops talking then and I can tell how uncomfortable she is.
This has to be the most she has ever opened up with someone, I don't think Cat or Beck have seen this side of Jade and I feel completely speechless that she opened up to me like this.
I know that Jade is a good actress, I've seen her fake certain things before, even with me; but there wasn't anything fake about what she just said. Jade was completely open and honest with me and I know if I want her to keep opening up with me I need to be just as open with her as she is with me.
"I think you're one of the most amazing people I have ever met." I say after finally getting my voice back.
I had feel Jade's eyes on me but I continue before she can say anything.
"I've been to a lot of places and I've met a lot of great people but none of them come close to you. I know you put up this front for everyone, but I see you Jade. I see how much you care about your friends; I know you love them very much even though you don't show it often. You are so talented, and honest, and kind. You are such an interesting person and I've only known you for a few months, I can't imagine how my awe of you will continue to grow for you the more I learn. I feel very lucky to be part of your life Jade." I say sincerely and I can see Jade trying to hide a smile, which makes me smile.
Jade doesn't say anything after that, which is fine, I can tell she feels good about the conversation.
Slowly we pull up to my house and Jade puts her car in park.
"I had a lot fun today, I promise from now on I won't keep you from your coffee for so long." I smile when once again Jade's lips curl upward, this time she doesn't try to hide her smile.
"Don't worry, you're the only person I will voluntarily go without coffee for." Jade makes every contact with me and refuses to break it, I know how competitive she is so I challenge her and refuse to look away.
I know Jade is focused on trying to beat me, but all I can think about is how beautiful her eyes are, and how today they seem more green than blue.
After staring for another minute or so Jade finally blinks, drawing me back to reality.
"Dammit." Jade says in between laughs "I never lose, were doing a rematch later!"
All I can do is nod, still caught up in how effortlessly beautiful she is.
I hate myself for even thinking that.
"Well I would love to stay and have our rematch right now I have to go run some errands and then I'm spending the night at beck's so I should probably get going." Jade says checking the clock in her car.
Finally, I stop thinking about Jade and start paying attention to her.
"Oh yeah no problem, we will definitely have our rematch though, I can't wait to beat you a second time." I say trying to sound as much like Jade when she's being cocky as I can.
Jade rolls her eyes and mutters something about letting me when, which causes me to roll my eyes.
"Don't be a sore loser Jade, I win you lose, I'm sure you'll find more than one thing to bet me at later to make up for it." I say unbuckling my seatbelt.
"Oh I'm definitely going to be beating you at everything we do, this was just a onetime thing."
"Of course it was." I say smiling at her. "Have fun tonight with Beck, don't get into any trouble."
Jade smirks when I say that and I can tell they are definitely going to do something that constitutes as trouble.
"Okay, don't get into too much trouble."
Jade laughs at that before promising that she won't do anything too bad.
I walk to my door and Jade waits until I get inside before driving off.
Before I do anything else, I call Andre.
"Hey chica what's up?" Andre asks in his chill voice which makes me feel even more stressed.
"I just went out to breakfast with Jade. I know I shouldn't have but I did, I'm so screwed Andre I think I'm starting to catch feelings for her. I really need you right now." I say trying to keep my voice from shaking any more than it already has.
Andre is silent for so long I think he might have hung up, which would be a perfectly normal reaction to someone admitting they have feelings for one of their students.
"I'm on my way."
